I'm biased in the direction of the clarinet, so I'm just going to say that if you don't have a personal preferance, you should play whatever your school needs more of.

*hugs Conn* Don't forget the Mellos. My friend's sister played the horn for a school musical. Go future section leader! I'm glad I got to meet her last year. She's really nice, and it'll be a lot easier to make the transition next year. Especially going from horn to mello.

Phreekontheloose182 i cant wait to play mello next year...is it a big change? Yes, but it is awesome. It is heavy, and it has different fingerings, but I love it more than the French Horn. For one, you can play very loudly with it, and in my band at least, we get lots of sixteenth notes (usually about the same as the flutes biggrin ) Good Luck, and I hope you love it it as much as I do!

I was practicing earlier today in my study hall, and one of the clarinets came into my practice room. She just walked over and started pushing the buttons. Then, of course, she pointed to the trigger and asked me what it was. Before I could get the words out, she proceeded to guess. "Is it like an octave key?" (Which is funny within itself. Clarinets don't ahve octave keys either) I said no. "So you can only play in one octave? ... Oh!"
