"Why, just a moment ago, I caught her talking to herself, and she's been like this for..." Meg estimated in her head. Christine wasn't the most normal girl in general so it was difficult to pinpoint exactly when she'd begun acting even MORE strangely.
"About three weeks, I would say. She seems distracted at practice, and Maman says to let her alone when she's like that, but I don't see why, after all I am her best friend, shouldn't she tell me what's wrong? I think so..."
Meg continued babbling on as she was prone to do. "But tonight, I caught her talking to herself about an 'Angel of music'. She's mentioned that before, too. Isn't that odd?"

"Angel of Music...?" Raoul's frown deepened for a moment as he tried to remember where he had heard that before. Slowly his mind began to recall violin music, and then the image of a dark-haired man with sad, distant eyes swam into his mind.
Daddy Daae, as he had always told the young noble to call him, had told he and Christine tales of a young girl who was visited in her dreams by the Angel of Music. When he had been younger he had believed in such tales, but as he had grown older he had realized that those tales were nothing more than that. Perhaps Christine was remembering her father and all of his old tales. Perhaps she was remembering him as well. "It is not odd when such a phrase is tied so closely to the memory of one's dear father," he said staring over the top of MEg's head, in the direction of Christine's dressing room.

"Yes, she said something about her father telling her it would come to teach her, make her into a star. But I think she's a bit old for believing in angels, especially ones that come down from heaven to tutor chorus girls!" Meg's childish laughter ran out in the hallways, highlighting the irony of her commenting on anyone being "too old" for anything.
This was a girl who still rounded up her friends from the corps de ballet for nights of ghost-hunting with lanterns. They would many times do this late into the night, leaving pillows as substitutes for their bodies in bed as not to be caught, and then screaming and running back into their room after hearing the slightest noise in the dark. It had been the same routine since they were about 9 years old.
But angels-- how ridiculous! "After all, the opera ghost would no doubt be angry if he saw an angel roaming about his theatre. Don't you agree?" She stood en pointe in front of him to try to get his attention, but, to her annoyance, he seemed to see right through her to Christine's door.

"I don't know," said Raoul smiling slightly in spite of himself as his gaze turned back to Meg. "Perhaps the Opera Ghost and the Angel of Music are really one in the same, and he only pretends to be a ghost to frighten you silly girls. Besides, ghosts are not always evil. Only with demons can you be certain that they are evil."
He felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, and he looked around the dimly lit hallway suddenly feeling eyes upon his back. There was someone who was not happy to see him, but he could see no one. Certainly such hatred could not be coming from the little ballerina standing before him.

Meg's eyes widened at the Vicomte's words. "You think perhaps they're the same?... Oh, but perhaps he IS a demon! After all, I heard that someone saw him, and he had a head made of fire! Oh, I hadn't thought of that! What if he IS the ghost, AND the angel of music that Christine always talks about?" She was practically in a panic, first at the fear of the opera ghost, and second, the excitement of sharing this new theory with her friends.
Suddenly she felt a strange coldness about the hall, and she could tell the Vicomte felt it too. But it didn't feel directed at her.
Yet who could be so angry at Raoul, and why?

((Nevermind what I said before))
CStaring at the fallen chandelier laying in the floor in front of him and clutching his shoulder he looked over at Meg. "Are you injured, Mademoiselle Giry?" he asked as he felt blood seeping out onto his hand. His arm didn't seem to be hurt too much beyond that cut though.
Leaning over to look at the cord that had held it suspended, he frowned as he saw that it had been cut. "It seems the ghost is not pleased with my presence." Thought I have no idea what I've done to upset it.

Madame Giry was only a few steps away...listening to the conversation that her daughter and Raoul were having. She just happened to look up and saw that the small metal chandeleir was swaying.
"Meg!"
She yelled as she stepped forward and pulled her daughter back as the chandelier fell and the candles went out. 'Erik....dont be so hasty...please...' she thought. ' I know she interrupted you...but thats no reason to put my daughter in danger.'

((me too)) Meg screamed as it fell. "Maman!" She cried when she felt her mother drag her back. "Did you see? Oh my god, it just fell for no reason at all!"
"No, I'm all right, thank you Monsieur." She noticed his small injury. "you're hurt!"
