Dr. Severin smiled very slightly, his eyes portraying a mild bitterness at the question. "Yes... Once." He said, his voice a bit quieter than usual. He laced his fingers together infont of him and pressed his two forefingers, the only fingers pointing up, against his lips, and thought. He almost lost himself to his mind once more, but managed to say something that snapped him back to reality.
"It would be rather nice to.. get out of Wyander for some time and travel the world," The Doctor said, a wistful flair to his partially whispered voice. "Everyone knows this is improbable, considering the... circumstances of our life."

"I think things will be alright. Food keeps coming in from the outside, you know, so there can't be a world-wide problem with killer critters. As long as there's production somewhere, I don't think there's any real cause for worry. And we're a big trade port. I'm sure someone's working on fixing things. Lots of money in Wynander before we got cut off."
Larry said the words with cheerful conviction...he believed it. His face was young and old at once. The food shortages had taken their toll on everyone, the tyrant's favored few aside, but in basic character Larry had come through relatively unscathed.
"I did some traveling when I was a kid, but settled here. I'd never been in a big trade city, you know, and it was a bit like traveling without going anywhere. You always had ships and people and cargo from all over." He laughed again, a pleasant tenor sound. "Our ship only stopped here for a day, and afterwards I couldn't imagine leaving. But after this whole mess blows over, maybe some more traveling would be in order. Just to stretch my sea legs, as it were."

"I came here for my practice, and I studied in the universities," Severin said, in Larry's presence he couldn't help, but smile. If only a little. "This City's steady decline is disconcerting, but I suppose there could be some hope that it would revive itself in the future."
The Doctor sounded like he didn't believe his words, and they left a bitter tang in his mouth when he said them. It wasn't his nature to be optimistic, he was a cynical, pessimist when it came to most things. The glass was always half empty, and probably had a crack somewhere and was leaking.
"I was born in the Far North, then decided to travel someplace more prosperous and get myself an education." He said, no emotion able to be read in his voice and facial expressions, though his finger twitched at his side unwantingly. "I didn't fancy myself a mindless brute like my siblings, my sister excused of that, of course."

Larry seemed to perk up a little more (if that was possible) at the mention of Severin's siblings. "Well, obviously you aren't much of a mindless brute if you managed to earn your doctorate! Siblings, you said? How many? I came from a rather large family, eight of us altogether, not including mum and dad. Mum and dad included is ten. You probably could have figured that out on your own."
He sobered.
"I used to write them letters, but the current postal system is just not up to par. I wasn't precisely fond of all of my siblings, but I wouldn't mind even seeing Langdon now. ...We all have names that begin with "L", you see. Our dad's really tall, and our mum's really short, so all-in-all we had quite a number of variations between us." He considered Severin carefully. "Dad wasn't quite as tall as you, though. In any case, we liked to keep up with each other. They probably think I've dropped off the face of the earth by now, and I haven't the faintest how any of the rest of us ended up."
Larry did tend to hop around a bit when it came to subject matter, which was a result of voicing thoughts as they came to him. It was a habit he indulged in even when there wasn't anyone to talk to.

While the antsy man spoke, Severin stayed quiet and listened, he was good at doing this, not being all too fond of talking himself. He blinked at the mention of eight children, surprised by such a number. "I had three siblings, two brothers and a sister. The older two were... stronger then me, yet I was the tallest of the family." The distaste of his brothers was evident in his voice, it was easy to tell they hadn't gotten along.
"My sister was the youngest, I am quite sure she was the only one in the family who had a bit of kindness in her poor heart.." The Doctor quieted up after speaking of his dear sister, he cared for her intensely because she had tried to keep their brothers from ever harming Sev. Unofrtunately, she had come down with scalret fever as a young child and had barely recovered. As a result, she was extremely weak and couldn't move without assistance, which Severin gladly gave her.
"I haven't been in correspondance with my family in a long while, it doesn't bother me much since I have grown accustomed to it over the years." Dr. Oddssen said, quickly changing the subject.

Larry managed to pick up on the need for a subject change.
"Hey, you doing anything right now? I have to stop by Rumwell sometime before this afternoon, and wouldn't mind the company. It's just a little down the way." His voice dropped to a confidential whisper. "I'm a Detective, you know, so it's all very hush-hush."
Larry had only known the man in front of him for a few minutes, but he couldn't be a bad sort. A lot of people around here were touchy, but this fellow had handled a stray projectile with understanding instead of the usual violence. A little kindness, Larry was sure, went a long way. And in any case, traversing town was always safer with company. That his company towered well above six feet was a bonus. Not that Larry would ever admit that security was an issue.

The Doctor frowned a little, his mind wandering to the package at his feet. He didn't wish to waste it, but was unsure how to deal with it without raising questions, and learning that this cheery man was a detective only made that urge grow. Leaning down, he picked up the package and slipped it into a large jacket pocket, hoping the bulge wouldn't be too noticeable, lest a thief saw it as interesting.
"I'm not terribly busy, no." Sev responded truthfully, though he had wanted to return home for a time. He had a mild agoraphobic feeling about leaving his home for a long period of time, but decided to try and make an effort at doing so anyhow. This Larry chap seemed quite nice and harmless, despite the wayward stones. "A walk around would be rather nice. Ah, a detective, you say? Interesting job in these times."

"Well, I'm not one in the traditional sense. I'm just absolutely useless when it comes to catching the badguy. I always feel sorry for him, you see? Everyone's got a little good in them, or at least they start out meaning well. I don't think there are really any evil people, only ones that have gotten confused along the way, and that's really quite a different viewpoint than the one justice takes."
Larry began walking again, towards the Courtyard.
"I find lost things. Well, not just things, but I find what people have lost. Sometimes it's another person. I get the strangest requests, and even stranger payments. Do you know this one fellow wanted him to find his vision? Said he'd lost his eyesight, and heard on good recommendation that I could find anything. Well, of course, I couldn't find it, but I did give him the address for a good optometrist, and that counts for something."

The Doctor laughed under his breath, a sort of rasping sound, but it had some cheer in it. He hadn't laughed in a good chunk of time, and it felt rather good. "I see. It sounds like a very interesting proffesion." He said, making no comment on the speech of Good in all people. "I'm actually retired, and I have been been for some time."
He followed Larry, noticing for the first time his interesting choice in footwear. Sev took long slow strides to keep a pace with the smaller man, looking about in case some unwanted animal had spotted them. It was never a good idea to linger in any part of the boneyard for long."What sort of payments do you get?" He asked, giving an effort to start a conversation.

As Ayira nursed her hurt leg, she thought of all the horrible possibilities that now lay before her. She could possibly loose her leg if she couldn’t find a doctor, or end up with a horrible scar…and no man liked scared playthings. Maybe some fear of a man would come along and hurt her worse in her condition that would be more likely then any of them. However, she had no choice but to sit there in pain, for she simply couldn’t get up on her own, the cut was just too deep and painful.
Struggling with the overwhelming pain now, for the bleeding seemed to be getting worse, or maybe she is just not use to pain like this…or at least not since, she was young, Ayira attempted to get up on her own, only to send ripples of pain through her body. The whole time her body was tingling with the feeling as though she was being watched, causing panic to rise slightly in her chest.
She looked around but saw no one, deciding it was just her nerves getting to her she gazed back down at the cut in her leg, “Why me…” she whispered. A split second later, she jumped as a body crouched down next to her and commented about her cut. Ayira turned quickly to the speaker, only to realize he was very close, so close that when she turned they were nose to nose. Shocked even more by this action then by some stranger talking to her she pulled back a bit, “You startled me.” She said composing herself while she looked him over, able to see his whole face now.
He was a rather handsome man with his long hair green eyes and fine features, but it was the smile that he gave her next that sealed his appeal. For once in a long time Ayira actually felt herself blushing and it wasn’t till a second later that she processed what he had been saying. “You’re a doctor then?” she questioned raising an eyebrow and meeting his gaze with her own, maybe her luck was changing. “And I can pay you, but if you would prefer and favor I am sure we can work something out.” She added the sultry tone returning to her voice.
Ayira winced slightly as he tied down her wound, but she refused to verbalize the pain she wasn’t some complete weakling. Letting the pain wash out of her mind as the feeling came back to her leg she realized that while she was internalizing her pain this man, lifted her up, and was carrying her off to one of the abandoned buildings near by. “Well you don’t waste anytime do you tiger?” she said with an actually laugh, or at least what sounded like one. She hadn’t really laughed in so long so she wasn’t even sure when she was being genuine herself.
She wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her, and gave into the warm feeling of his body. It had been a long time since anyone had shown her any form of kindness; she forgot how nice it was.

"I think food would be fine..." he sets her down on the dry floor of the abandoned building as he spoke to her. His voice was soft and melodic. He reached into a coat pocket and pulled out a needle and some thread, "...If you don't struggle, I will sew it shut..." he said to her, his voice reassuring.
He unbound the wound and carefully cleaned it out with the cloth before he began to slowly and gently as possible sew it shut. Once he was done, he knotted the string, cut it and washed what blood he could off with a clean side of the cloth.
He then turned his gaze to Ayira's face and gave her a pleasant smile, "...as long as you're careful not to tear it open before it's healed, you should have only a faint scar..." he put the needle and spool of thread back in his coat as he sat back.
"...Now, first what is your name miss?" He said, still smiling and speaking in a reassuring tone. The natural qualities of his voice would probably do well at heart melting songs, even sung without music.

Ayira laughed again slightly at his preference to food than a favor, “As you wish Master Doctor.” She said teasing him a bit. As he set her down she tensed again, it was odd but when he held her she actually felt safe, must be the doctor in him that relaxes people. “I make no promises…I have a thing about needles.” She said as she eyed up the one he held now.
It stung slightly as he removed the cloth that was tied over the cut, but again she refused to say anything. However, she had to turn her head away from him and stare at the opposite wall as he sowed her shut that she wouldn’t be able to watch. Wincing now and then, she was surprised to find that he was very good, and she actually felt little to no pain as he stitched her up.
Once he was done, she swallowed the lump in her throat and chanced a glance at the damage. “Again I can make no promises about that, my line of work has me moving around a lot.” She said looking over the work, he did. It was nice, clean and straight, he really was a good doctor. What was he doing in Wynander? She wondered silently as she looked him over again.
“Ayira Moon.” She said glancing up at him again, “And who might you me my kindhearted Knight?” she said playing with him again. There was something about this man, about the way he talked and the way he looked at her, it seemed as though he really wanted nothing more from her than food…not like most who stare at her with lust in their eyes.

"Call me Kura." Nekura said to her. It was true, he did want nothing more than food from her, although the company of someone not quite so two-faced was nice. He then looked down at the wound, then back up at Ayira, "Well, then be careful...if you tear it open, it could scar pretty badly, and that's if your lucky...This city unfortunately does not give much to clean, healthy conditions so wounds can get really bad if they aren't taken care of properly."
He then put on a serious gaze as he looked at her, "And if they aren't allowed to heal properly." He gaze lightened back to that soft-hearted expression he maintained.
He looked up at the ceiling and chuckled lightly, "...So what IS your line of work..." he looked back to Ayira and gave her a half-smirk half-smile, "Fair princess." he said, in retort to her calling him a knight.

Larry could relate to being retired, since he had met with an early retirement in the entertainment business.
"Oh, all sorts. There's useful things like food, occasionally. But I've gotten everything from three-legged furniture to palm readings to crickets. The cricket was from an eastern gentleman. Nice man, came in a little wooden cage. The cricket, that is. They're supposed to be good luck, but I don't know. Recently I got a hold of a card that was supposed to, and I quote, 'fulfill your desires'," Larry performed this line with a surprisingly accurate mimic of the Fortune Teller's voice. It took a little bit of throat finagling, but he was pleased with the sound.
"-and it hasn't done a single blasted thing yet. But that wasn't really a payment for anything, so I can't complain. Ah! At one point I actually received a kiss. For finding a pregnant dog, I think, unless that was something else. I was dubious about it at first, since kisses have very little market value nowadays, but the girl was pretty and as it turns out a very good kisser, so I consider it a fair trade. I got the same offer from a fellow a little later on, and to my great relief ended up with some curtains instead. It takes some working with people to find how absolutely daffy they all are, myself included."
He was a tireless conversationalist.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Kura.” She said with an awkward bow, seeing as she was still sitting. “But I will live right Doctor?” she asked, playfully again, that was until he told her some of the scarier sides of what might happen if she didn’t take care of it. Taking a more serious tone herself she looked down at the cut then back up at Nekura, “I understand…I promise to be a good girl and take care of myself.” She said lightly but understood the gravity of the situation.
Brushing the strands of hair out of her face that hung there, she looked down at her dress, “Nice I can see this is ruined with its blood stains now.” She said noticing the spots of blood near the edges of material. Looks like now she needed a new, “going out” dress, after she had just bought her girls new dresses, man she had great luck.
“Are you sure you really want to know the answer to that question?” she said gazing at him and a sly little smile playing on her lips. She laughed internally as he called her princess. At least this one has a sense of humor she mused to herself.
