"well then." he got up and went to a cabinet in the other corner opening it and pulling out some old blankets.
"Not enough for all, but we have one for both you ladies." Gallen took his jacket and laid it on top of Howie, "Their and something for him." Gallen wanted to be polite to the young women, thus giving them first dibs on the blankets their office stored incase any of the radio personalities pulled an all nighter. So not to seem like a jerk to Jess's, he guessed Boyfriend, Gallen decided to let the young man use his jacket as a blanket. Gallen sat down in his chair.
"Well if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. Oh yeah I should let the dynamic duo know we have company, I'll be back in two shakes." he got up and left the room heading back to where the studio was.

"The Dynamic Duo," Jess copied, finding his name for his friends amusing. Taking the blanket from Gallen, she thankfully wrapped it around her, burying herself in its warmth.
A far-off smile flickered across her eyes. It was her old passion, her obsession. A young boy's face flickered across her unseeing eyes, giving her feelings unfelt in quite some time, yet felt so often. Her, right where she was and the circumstance reminded her of a certain time - a time with memories of snow, cold... a power-outage. He gave her his only warmth; his blanket. She was lost in memory once again, and slowly lulling herself into a sleepy daze.

"Oh, um.. I have my own blanket..." Dai half-muttered, and drew out a felted, home-made quilt. "Howie can have it... It's probably warmer..." She wheeled over and laid it on the man's form. "He might be coming down with a fever... The dirt on the street has who knows what in it... Drink, blood... Ugh." She peeled off the gauze, to reveal a throbbing, inflamed gash. "You did good with what you had... Thanks. Here's some achohol swabs, hold 'em for me. Now Howie, I don't know if you're awake or not, but this is going to hurt quite a bit." Taking a small pair of sharp, sterilied scizzors and a scaplel, she took off their plastic covers. "There might be a little blood..." Gently, delicately, she opened up the wound with the scalpel. A white liquid mixed with yellow pus oozed out. "It's lymph that's coming from the nodes. It's supposed to be clear, not white, see? It's the first sign that something's infected. Could you hand me those swabs, please? I think there might be some dirt still in there... Ah." There was a speck of gravel inside the wound. "I might need the tweezers, they're in the bag."

Jessica snapped all-too quickly from her daydream, looking around the room. For a moment she seemed to question where she was, how she got there, and who she was with. But soon the memory was regained and she handed Dai the supplies she requested. For everyone's sake, she hoped Howie was asleep or under enough to not feel anything.
"Sorry, Howie," she murmured for various reasons.

Gallen's face went white, he hated needles and the sight of blood in real life bugged him. He backed up a bit and leaned against the wall, he tired not to remember that day, the day that made him a vegetarian. All the blood and that poor dog. He held his head for a second and then smiled, yet it was more a grimous.
"I...I...I...I'll go get some...coffee of cups...I mean cups of coffee." He stammered out trying to forget what he just saw.

Jessica was reacting in a similar way that Gallen was acting, but not as extreme. She wasn't too horrified of blood, but it was still freaky that Howie's head was seeping pus and other less than savory things. She looked over to Gallen with an understanding half-smile, and nodded that he should go get some coffee. Returning her gaze to the 'operation' she forced herself to not look directly at the wound, no matter how morbidly curious she was.

"Thanks." Dai muttered. With the end part of the scalpel, which turned out to be a minature spoon, she scooped the icky, gooey, mess out. Dirt and a few small pebbles were in it. She grimaced. Wiping the mess away with the swab, she wasn't surprised to see the flash of white bone. "Hairline fracture..." Indeed, there was an almost thread-like break in the bone. "We can't do anything for now... Best to let it heal on his own." Turning around, she crumpled up the swabs and their wrappers and threw them into the trashcan. Looking in her bag, she took out some gray-looking thread and a needle. Carefully putting the thread through the eye, she cut it with the scizzors and began to knot the end. "Its surgical steel thread. Best thing next to staples." She said, in a matter-of-factly voice. And with that, she peirced the needle into Howie's flesh.
"Ugh." Dai wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. Howie's hand was now cleaned, sterilized, and bandaged well. She waved away Gallen's offer of coffee, yawning exuberantly."I think I'm going to turn in... Thanks, Jessica. And thanks, Gallen. You guys have been really great... Hey... Jessica? Have you ever thought of a career in medicine?"

At the time the needle was pulled out, Jessica scooted quickly away. She was -deathly- afraid of needles, even the sight of them made her cringe. A freaky smiled crossed her face, insanity slowly seeping from her guarded visage. But all signs of craziness were very quickly suppressed; she had already gone overboard once tonight, that was more than enough.
"I... uh... I'm not cut out for that sort of work." Jessica replied a little too quickly after Dai ask her about being a medicine person. Heck, she would kill more patients than helping them. Most of them would end up being stabbed by something; the rest would run out screaming that she was insane.

Gallen had wondered down the hall to the stairs and headed down to the cafe to get some coffee, he also got a veggie platter for himself, since he had not eaten dinner. He soon was walking back up with 3 coffees ad his portabella and tofu sandwich. As he walked back down the hall he taped on eth studio window and waved to the Dynamic Duo, who grinned and waved back. Gallen finally made his way to the office and came in as the surgery ended. Amazingly enough everything was still clean and there was hardly any blood spilled from the area of the operation. He soon sat at his desk and started to busy himself looking at a comic while Dai and Jess finished.

Howie was awake, but he seemed quite happy to let Dai go on poking him with various implements. Every once in a while, he muttered something unintelligable and stirred, but otherwise he was drifting off somewhere in a distant la-la land. Yeah, he felt the pain, but he dealt with pain all the time. It was nothing big.
When she was done, he turned his head experimentally (or perhaps stupidly). A muddled swear escaped his mouth in a kind of dull, detatched tone, but it didn't stop him from getting in a last word before his inevitable trip to unconciousness. "'M a charmer, 'oo. Whan... whan... 'snot so fuzzz..." With that brilliant statement, he slid into a heavy sleep.
((Howie: I'm not a gang member, I'm a free agent!
Hehe, however youse guys wants to do it is fine. You'll have trouble hanging onto Howie, though. He doesn't do 'friends' so well ^^; ))
