Kimiko sighed and tucked her pencil over her ear, pushing back a lock of soft brown hair with it. She closed her notebook and sighed again, looking up at the sky through the leafy branches over her head. She just couldn't seem to push past the writer's block in her brain. Her eyes drifted back to the half-finished poem scribbled on the lined paper in her lap. She just couldn't seem to get it right...The notebook was abruptly slapped closed as Kimi laid back on the bench, folded her arms behind her head, and stared up into the thick foliage above her head. Dark lashes brushed against soft cheeks as she was lulled into a state of inertia by the warm breeze and afternoon sunlight.
"Why..." she whispered.

Aleck slipped around a corner and pulled a twisted looking cigarette out. Striking a flame and cherrying the tip quickly, he took a few quick hard drags to get it going. He leaned against the wall facing away from the sun. The smoke rising up against his chest and face as he inhaled again, leaning over to notice Kimiko.
He took another few hard drags and then flicked the cherry off to conserve. He brushed himself off and stepped around the edge and slowly walked up the young girl, maybe now was a good time to get use to the student body.
He stalked up, a shadow covering the girls face for a moment before he spoked his name., "Hey there, Im Aleck. Im the new History teacher"

Kimiko opened her eyes and looked up Aleck. She blinked a few times, not quite absorbing what was before her for a moment. She stood up and bowed respectfully to him.
"My name is Akanabe Kimiko. Please to meet you, Aleck-sensei..." her tongue tripped over the unfamiliar name.
Her notebook was clutched in her hands as she sat back down. Did he want to talk to her? He had to be new...

He sat down about a foot away from her as he looked over the grounds, he was still in unfamiler territory and was just learning the landmarks.
He leaned over to look at the kid, "No need for the sensai part, just call me Aleck" he nodded, he wasnt used to all the politeness. It was unnerving for him. He was used to being harrassed, threatend, and being called Teach. So this place was a total off-set for him.
"Sorry for the abruptness, but I have barely met anyone here. I feel like a new student instead of the teacher. So I am just trying to get a feel for this place. Much nicer than my last centre I worked at. Hows it doing for you?"

Kimiko inclined her head politely, though her fingers tightened spasmodically around the edges of her notebook. He seemed nice enough for the moment.
"Gomennasai, Aleck-se...erm...Aleck...I'm not used to calling teachers by name..." she said queitly. She looked at the grass at her feet.
At his question she nearly snorted and her hand touched the collar around her neck. Her jaw clenched and her eyes narrowed, but she quickley regained her composure and flashed a bright, if insincere smile at him.
"Well, wonderful, absolutely wonderful. After all, every human being wishes to be imprisoned for crimes they --" her voice had stayed bright and cheery, but she clamped her jaw shut over her next words. She jumped to her feet like she sat on a tack and bowed deeply. "Gomen, perhaps I should leave..."

He watched her rub the collar, well atleast the teachers here had leverage over the student body. Another thing he wasnt used to.
"Imprisoned eh? Well I might not have my own shiny collar but Im stuck here just like you. So I guess both of us need to make the best off it. Any idea when I get my own lil' controller zappy thing?" He hadnt been offered one yet, and was still learning the ground rules.
He opened up his pack, a few magazines inside, a pair of sunglasses, and a ruffled pack of cigarettes. He jerked the packed and a single roll hung out, he grasped it with his lips and lit the end, turning the pack around and offering the girl one.
"Smoking may be a bad habit, but apparently here the life expentency dwindles" He chuckled and smiled.

She gave him the evil eye at first, when he asked about getting a remote. Until the humor dawned on her. She smiled. Faintly, but it was there. It was a soft, gentle smile.
But no laughter. Kimi hadn't laughed for some time now. She simply didn't have it in her.
At his offer, Kimiko politely shook her head, and pulled her own pack from her back pocket.
"Iie, I have my own." she said, plucking one daintily from the pack with her index and middle fingers and placing it between her lips. The end of the filter colored ever-so-slightly with a pale pink lipgloss as she replaced the pack in her pocket and pulled out a pack of Midori-Issue matches. She lit the end quickley, and flicked the match away. She took a long pull and exhaled the smoke in a lazy sigh. She really wasn't one for conversation...but she might as well try.
"So, what brought you to Midori? Surely it wasn't the food..." she said. She wasn't much for humor either...

He smirked at the dry humour, flicking the ash from his roll. Then looking back at her, "A change of place and a bit better pay. Teaching isnt the greatest pay, but this beats the ghetto."
He smiled, "I had some legal issues to take care of and midori helped deal with those." He turned a moment flicked a this cigarette again then looked back ,"Yourself? What did you do to wind up in this place, I mean, you got a pretty collar, but I see no tail"

Kimiko sighed and tapped the cigarette against the ashtray next to the bench, to dislodge the ash.
"Legal issues, is it? Well, I suppose you could say the same for me." she said, looking up into the leaves above her head. She leaned back on the bench, taking another long drag and exhaling the smoke in a lazy cloud about her face. Her mind flickered back to the trial.
'Guilty'
"I'm sorry, perhaps I'd better go..."
She stood up and flicked the ember from the end of her cigarette with her nail, and put the half-smoked remain back in the pack. She had already exchanged more words with this stranger than she had with anyone else in weeks.
"I hope Hell works out better for you than for the rest of us." she said, bowing politely. "Ja ne, Aleck-sensei."

He flicked the remainder of his roll into the tray and watched her for a moment.
He nodded "Don't we all just have our demons here, dont we?" almost studying her, pondering why she was here. She didn't seem to be as mean looking as the others, but he had been utterly dumbfounded in the past.
"No need to leave just yet. And hell, well earth is bias, hell is indifferent. I doubt any of us shall recieve a lighter sentence once we start enjoying our eternal sauna"
He looked up towards her, "Sit, Im not ready to end this lil' chat yet" he nodded his head towards the edge of the fountain. His smile had a mirror to it, he looked peaceful enough but inside he was more power hungry than one would imagine a teacher to be.

Kimiko looked over her shoulder at him. Her eyes narrowed ever-so-slightly.
"Indifferent...Hai, then this must be Hell, then." she said cryptically.
Because it makes no difference to any of them what your crime was...
She turned her body slightly and bowed to him. She clutched her notebook against her midriff, as if it was the most precious thing in the world.
"Gomennasai, sensei...I really must be going." she said quietly. "Shitsuree shimashita."

Michale headed out into the courtyard, hands in pockets. His eyes were scanning back and forth out in the distance, looking for Kobuto. He had to find him...he needed enough time to arrange a form of payment...
It was hard to concentrate thought. His thoughts kept returning to Angel. And that boyscout who kept interfering. Damn him...Damn his sorry a** to hell...One hand pulled from his pants pocket to brush against the sore spot under his eye. It was hard to bruise him, but if that left a mark, he would be livid indeed. It wasn't bad enough he'd split his lip.
What Michale couldn't see was that there was already some faint discoloration along his cheekbone.
Scowl on his face, Michale kept walking. Where was that Kobuto?

Josh was walking through the courtyard. Classes had been cancelled so he was going to go hang in his room and catch on sleep. Lack of sleep tended to have a negative effect on people, especially Josh who was ..... well naturally angry.
He had been halfway across the courtyard when someone bumped into his arm. He would have normally just told the ******** off, but too many people had bee "Accidentlly" bumping into him today wanting to set him off. Well this guy had won the grand prize.
"Hey mesuinu" he growled spinning around and shoving at the larger student "Watch where the ******** you're going, or do you need me to give you a little lesson in how to use your ******** eyes. Maybe I can save us both the trouble and just remove them out of that thick skull of yours. Eh Panku?"

Michale felt someone bump into his arm, startling him from his thoughts. The next thing he knew, he was being shoved and angry curses were being flung at him. He blinked a few times and looked....well, down. The kid had to be nearly a foot short than him...Michale found it almost laughable, and a sneer spread across his features.
"Ee, baka! You're the one who knocked into me!" he said, one hand reaching out so shove the other right back. "You've got some nerve, ne? And besides, can you reach my eyes from down there, chibi? Maybe I should get you a stepstool? Or a ladder, ne?"
