They were all doing so great pulling the noul up, she could feel that he was trying to help as well. But between all of them, they nearly had him up here with the rest of the group. Tempest couldn’t help but wonder who he was, why he was down there, why did Viltalta not seem to like him. Her age was showing with these thoughts, just not to anyone else. She continued to put all her energy and strength into pulling, she wasn’t going to be lazy on this adventure, she wasn’t going to not try and help or participate. She felt she had been trying despite joining later on. Every little bit counted.

Let’s just hope I’ve grown a bit at the end of this. She was curious about this Wanderlust and his party and what they were doing out here.

Ralir could hear the quiet grunts of noulicorns all around him refocusing their attentions on the task before them. A lot of people were trying different strategies to shift the weight they were bearing to different groups of muscles. That was clever, Ralir thought. He'd like to do the same - though he wasn't sure how he'd manage to grip the rope, other than in his mouth. He didn't have a helper, and he didn't want to briefly release the rope, even though he knew the strain had been significantly reduced since the beginning.

His indecision meant that he wasn't quite focusing on pulling, and he only managed a few steps back, this time around. That should teach him, Ralir thought wryly. There was a task ahead of him, and sometimes in the face of a task, the easiest thing was just to get started in the first place. He had still managed to make some progress, though mainly with the support of everyone else here, and he'd count that as a success, if anything.

He shook out one of his shoulders, trying to loosen the tension so that he could proceed to anchor himself even better as he tried to heave the rope again in the future.

Ysalone let out another huff. Viltalta's aid seemed to reinvigorate the bunch of them, and the doe was happy to see everyone throwing their weight anew into the rope to haul up the stranded noul. She did as well. Ysalone tightened her grip on the rope and yanked, digging her hooves in as best as she could, straining to help with the weight.

With one last heave from the party of noulicorns, Isra was hauled over the top. He collapsed to the ground, panting hard. The bay was small for a buck, with an unkempt scraggle for mane and tail - probably due to his week trapped in the chasm. Viltalta stepped closer to unhook the rope harness he’d made for himself, not bothering with another word in his direction. She collected the coils and returned to Tempest.

“Thank-you for your help,” she said, handing the rope back to the other doe. “You should hold onto this incase we need it again. And-” she craned her neck, plucking a single feather from her wings. “Take this.”

Behind her, Isra rose with shaking legs and took a few trembling steps away from the precipice.

“Thank-you,” he gasped. “I don’t think I would have lasted much longer.”

It might have been for the better, Viltalta thought.

“I was looking for Wanderlust,” Isra continued, ignoring Viltalta’s venomous stare. “Have they returned to Homewood yet? I haven’t seen them in a moon’s age.”

“No,” answered Viltalta. “This group and I are looking for them.”

“Oh!” Isra surged forward. “Let me-”

“You won’t be travelling with us.”

Isra’s expression fell, but he did not argue. Good. If he had, Viltalta might have shoved him off the ravine again.

“But it is late,” she concluded, looking skyward. Their group had travelled for hours through the sand and must be exhausted at this point. “You can rest with us tonight… outside the group, but in the morning, you need to leave.”

It was more kindness than Isra deserved.

Draven,” Viltalta turned toward the grey buck. “That shelter you brought, would you set it up for us? We’ll bed down for the night. I need volunteers for first watch.”

User Image With the Noul pulled to safety, Draven let go of the rope. Turning around he looked at the Noul, it seemed that Viltalta had distrust and disgust against the buck. He could only assume that it was a past scorn between the two and said nothing towards it. Shaking his head slightly, he was looking away again, watching the horizon before he was spoken to.

"It will not shelter everyone in this group as it was made for the purpose for a couple, but I can set it up all the same." He mentions as she crouched down for Bluebell to pull the ties and release the basket and bundle.

With quick movements, The canvas was shaken out and three foot poles released. Three softball sized flat stones dropped as well to the ground. Bluebell made short work in digging holes to support the poles before the long pole was placed over the Y ends. Draven pulled at the back of the canvas to where it was as tight as possible before Bluebell pushed one of the flat stones over the corner. The same was done with the other corner and the third stone was placed in the center for good measure.

The lean-too was close to the ground, maybe two and a half feet in the front and grew lower in the back. Draven placed his own basket to the side of the Tent as to not lose it.

"It can maybe sleep three if you are ok with getting cozy together. But as I said, its my personal gear, never really thought of it needing to cover a large group such as this."

Draven glanced around, if they had had something to tie the other end to, they might have had more space, but as it was, they were in the wide open as far as he could see. So this was the best that he could do, most the company including himself would have to sleep out under the stars.

His steely dark blue gaze rested on the one buck that was going to rest with the group, but outside of it, Draven stepped over to the Ascended and glanced at her. "I'll take a shift of watch tonight, you are welcome to rest in the shelter. I am sorry it is not quite enough for everyone to rest comfortably under. Had something to tie the backside to, it would make a little more space."

Tempest nodded her head to Viltalta and took the rope back, stashing it in her pack. As she raised her head, the winged doe offered the gift of one of her feathers to Tempest. Tempest’s eyes widened and she carefully took the feather as well. She nodded her head to Viltalta, “Thank you.” Then moved away. The feather was beautiful and she didn’t want to loose a precious gift, so she stashed it away as well. A familiar would have been handy to have on this journey, the thought was random but made sense.

She breathed a sigh of relief that they’d be camping here. It had been a long day that really tested Tempest’s energy levels. Which would such an odd thing, they bounced back with any amount of rest, even if it was just standing in place. So she stood to the side and watched as the winged doe requested that the grey buck, Draven, set out his shelter again. It wasn’t very big but would work for those needing a break from what sun was left.

Tempest, would love that but she had no interest getting cozy with two other warm bodies right now. Mostly because she was absolutely wiggly and probably irritate whoever wanted to rest peacefully. Instead she stepped forward, “I will take a night shift as well.” Why not, she could keep watch while venting energy. She cast a glance at the noul, Isra, that they had saved. But the way their leader treated him, she felt it best to avoid him and stay on her good side.

Adahny knew he would be up all night. Even though others had already volunteered he sa no harm in offering as well. "I volunteer myself as well Viltalta. With my new found dire rat baby I do not think sleep will be my firend anyways."

He knew he needed rest to heal but the baby would need feeding all through the night. Some noul else might as well get rest. He just hoped that this Irsa noul was not any trouble for the in the night, this group could use the good rest.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Moon Mist sighed tiredly. It had been a lot of work hauling Isra out of the chasm. She knew she'd be asleep in no time at all, and was pretty sure that would make her nearly useless to stand watch. So she kept her mouth shut.

She eyed Isra up and down. Viltalta seemed thoroughly over having anything to do with him, but that didn't mean he couldn't have useful information ... Well, if she couldn't stand watch, she could maybe help with this. She edged cautiously over to the disheveled Noul. "How did you end up down there?"

“It’s better than no shelter at all,” Viltalta said to Draven. “You can take first watch, then Tempest, then Adahy, and I’ll finish last watch before daybreak.”

Isra curled up by himself just outside the camp. He looked up at the sound of approaching hoofsteps to see Moon Mist and offered her a tired smile. “Dire rats and poor footing.

“It was dark, but Wanderlust had been gone for so long already that I didn’t want to stop and wait for morning to continue. Unfortunately for me I must have stumbled across a nest without realizing it, because I was quickly surrounded by dozens of the things. They drove me back and I lost my footing. Forgot how close to the edge they’d backed me up.” He paused, eyes softening. “Thank-you for saving me.”

Tsarine was tired from helping pull Izra up from the ledge. The heat of the Barrens was exceptionally draining for one that had never lived or traversed there. Ayala on the other hand soaked in the warmth like a sponge which she needed toward the night to radiate heat. He pondered questioning Izra how he ended up on the ledge but, it seemed Vitalia wasn't keen on anyone even remotely interacting with him.

So, Tsarine opted to take Night Watch with the others knowing full well Pippen was stirring awake. Barely able to cope with things as is the Baby Dire Rat caused a fuss when it was hungry. Ears perking to the familiar distress squeaks he noted Ayala was already in process of cleaning up the baby and giving the nourishment sparingly. She'd need a midday to track down some more if they were to go dry.

"Stand watch Big Boy. I know your intentions of asking questions just might get us looked at in a disheveled way with Vitalia".

The younger noul nodded to Ayala opening his muzzle for a brief yawn. Eventually he'd dose off but, for the most part while the baby was being fed things were settled down. Soon another day of extreme heat would beat down upon their coats causing the urgency for drinking. The Barrens were an incredible wasteland, though Tsarine pondered there may be water somewhere unknown.

As night fall descended on the group the air became cool. Adahy laid his pack down and check on the small dire rat. "Furry Tail your on guard watch for the baby." Adahy needed to check the perimeter before feeding the pup, which was fine since it was still fast asleep. Furry Tail nodded and curled up to the bag protectively.

Stratified that his charges would be ok until he got back he begin to look far off into the distances. He had all read used his gift for the day but he wished to himself that he had the strength to use infrared then he would be able to see better. "Oh well." he mentality shrugs as he makes his wait to the outer edge of the group.

In the night Adahy spots something leafy like not to fair form the group. "Strange this is a barren land and nothing with leaves would be growing out here." he voices to himself. Wanting to keep the group safe form harm, Adahy decides he better check it out. Slowly and with great caution he approached the object.

Not that she imagined anyone would be spending that much time around giant chasms in the future. She nodded in response to his thanks. "I don't think anyone should be left to die, even if they've offended our fearless leader."

She watched the others take up their watch positions, or bed down for the night. She felt so tired ... It was almost time to join them, but maybe there was time for one more question. She pitched her voice low, trying to ensure that no one else could hear her but Isra. "What exactly did you do to earn Viltalta's ... pointed dislike?"

User Image As everyone settled in for the night. It seemed that they had all found their places. Bluebell had opted out of night watch, he didn't really blame the Jack Hop as she went over to curl up under the shelter with whom ever else used it. Shaking his head, Draven stepped carefully around the edge of everyone, his sharp eyes peering out into the darkness. Everything was calm and quiet for his watch, seems he had the easy one. Nothing was stirring and really, it made him tired and almost want to sleep as well.

Giving his body a shake off, dust from the barrens kicking up around him a little, he watched the strange buck that one of the does was talking to. Isra was one of much suspicion of being the one that lead the wanderlust away from their home. It was his hair that was left behind at their place. Frowning, he kept up with his watch, there were many questions that were to be asked, but he had other important duties to do.

As his shift of watch came to an end, Draven walked over to where his shelter had been set up and folded his legs to lay down. He could only hope that the rest of the night would continue to be quiet. For a nice sleep was what everyone needed...
