Anubis

Recognition made him grin brighter and he didn't resist as she reached for his hands to hold them in her own. Squeezing pale fingers instead as the stumble over his name made him chuckle. "It's very curious magic." And not just with the names, but the entire evening. The brightness resting over the not, the new consciousness battling with the old. He knew he was Amon, but he knew he was not.

"I think so. This man, this version is a scholar. I can feel his thirst for knowledge and his excitement for it." It was amusing to Amon. He'd done well enough at the academy with his studies but it wasn't his passion. Not like this man.

"And you?" He'd sweep her arms out so he could get a better look at her, but his eyes fell to her leg and lingered there, the joy in seeing her spilling from chiseled features to be replaced by worry. "K..." The name stuck. Of course it did, and before he could get the question out properly he felt her squeezing his hands tightly.

When he looked up she wasn't looking at him, her gaze fixated on another figure in the crowd, and she looked stricken. "Little bird, are you alright?"

Sunny

Jack had stood frozen in indecision for a long time after Chauvet had fled, feeling like she'd missed her chance to follow, not wanting to get in the way of the other woman after she'd run after their mutual friend. Which in hindsight felt silly, but the with every passing moment the window for action narrowed forget and further until it felt as if it had closed completely and Jack was left feeling awful and little superfluous.

She wasn't sure how long she stood there after. Long enough for awaiter to offer her a glad of champagne, which seemed to snap her out of her own head and neck into the moment. With a murmur of thanks she accepted a glass made her way towards a row of artifacts.

Luck would leave her not waiting terribly long for her friend to reappear, and Jack moved through the gathering crowd to be at the front to listen. The page still looked upset, but calmer now. Stronger, in a way, and one she started talking, deviating from traditions of wonders to give her own thoughts and feeling voice, jack could see why.

A soft, proud smile blossomed on dark lips as she listened and she was grinning as a spectral figure throw something to the tall redhead. A fasp followed the split and the slight, and a barely contained cheer followed that as Chauvet moved from page to squire. *And God, she looked beautiful!*

At the end of it Jack didn't bother to hold back. Instead she was rushing forward to throw her arms around the taller woman's neck, and planting a kiss on the now-squire's mouth. Well, she had asked. "Congratulations!" It was a little breathless with joy for her friend's rise in rank, and maybe a few other things. "And happy birthday."

Reaper

It did not take long to notice the woman standing so close to the tapestry. She was impossible to miss, dressed in her dark clothing and a sash that would have stood out to him regardless of who he was-- Crims or Labyrinthite -- and it drew his attention first. If helped that he held her rapt attention and that he was distracting enough to make her ignore the man at her side.

A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, something softer than the sharp-edged grins that usually decorated his lips when his gaze lifted to match near matching eyes. His mask hid his brows, dulled down the mischief in his expression but it shone brightly in his eyes. Kestrel-- he assumed that's who it was, who else had that hair color and would look at him like she was seeing a ghost --would be able to see it no matter how much of his expression was hidden behind black, plastic feathers.

Things were blurring together, the man feeling both ethereal and solid at the same time as the ghost of a mind and his actual mind tried to meld together.

When he tried to take a step towards Blackbird and the tapestry surely depicting a version of him, he faltered. Frowning, he flicked his gaze over to her companion, golden eyes narrowing because he didn't recognize him and couldn't place any sort of figure that might have filled in a role or person. Swallowing, lips pressed into a thin line and he returned his attention back towards the woman.

Someone else caught his attention, from the corner of his eye and he looked away, stepping towards what felt like a familiar pile of hair before Reaper hesitated again. He felt torn, warring with these ideas of who he was, if the man beneath the mask was the reaper or the rebel.

In the end he looked back towards Blackbird with a crooked grin, mouthing words that wouldn't carry across the distance. Come catch me. He turned on his heel, the stock of pink and the ends of his mask the only think making him stand out in the crowd.

Nessy

Pendour smiled just a little bit when the girl said she’d met a few knights. It was the kind of smile that felt all coy and mysterious, like it was just a hint of her identity, even though she kneels that she was decked in Neptune symbols from head to heel.

She was given her own hints to go on in turn. Homeworld meant senshi, and not the broken kind. “I love places like this,” she said, smile going bigger. “I’ve been learning everything I can about them, seeing all the ones I can.” She took a moment to look further at the walls, the starry ceiling, the people swirling around who barely looked like shades at all, now.

She was, of course, oblivious to the one that targeted her, absorbed in other deatsils like she was, and lacking a proper amount of peripheral vision. Any malicious spirits would find that her skirts were made of thick, finely woven silk, that resisted tearing well enough. The netting would tear off easily enough, though.

“They can get all fixed up with a little hard work, but I don’t know if this one is all the way,” she tilted her head, “real.” She hadn’t had too much champagne, but she’d seen the way things had started shifting and coming out of nowhere when she’d tasted it.

Then they were cut off by Chauvet’s speech, and the light of her upgrade. Then the clock was striking- where had the time gone?

“I think I should go,” she murmured, still trying to be a little bit mysterious as she felt the pull of the magic. She didn’t mind, really, if any of her wonder’s art had ended up here. She turned, instead, towards the portal, aiming to leave as silently as she had come.

The Red Prince

Patience left eir repertoire not long after indoctrination. To listen to her now, to watch her as she engaged in a debate that sidestepped eir point, demanded from a patience that abandoned em. It expected a patience that indulged small talk, that promised time and more for small debates like these, that made space for hours-long museum visits where a pair could lounge away the better part of an hour when debating the veracity of museum plaques to published archaeological texts. These were the conversations eir father could enjoy over a brandy.

But The Red Prince could not imbibe drink, could not trouble emself to sit still during her words. Her lecture.

Eir patience extinguished when she displayed a bottle made up of a hundred thousand points of light, brighter than eir eyes or eir core. Eir expression spoiled into a pressed frown. What a bother to give so much weight to artistic opinion. Art belonged to Earth, whereas the stars clutched magic to the mundane. How ridiculous. The Red Prince's eyes shuttered closed at the first pinpricks of a light-induced headache.

When she returned, and ey could see again, ey opened eir mouth to speak in earnest, then a voice and figure brooked them out of amorphous cacophony. "They're magic —" Eir mouth shut again, wordless, eir earnesty shut away in stiff posture as eir scorching gaze combed over their newest interruption. The escort ey didn't recognize, but the second… The Red Prince frowned. No mask could conceal the identity of that indolent sack of lard. What was he doing out here? How did he get an invitation? Did the Negaverse hack the string of messages, somehow, to disseminate a few to their allies? And if they did, why him? Axinite must've arranged it.

Introductions must be so passé. Eir response was half-buried in sigh. "Did you check next to the music book?" The Red Prince held eir urge to send Tiberius away with her.

Of more interest was the way In Step greeted Tiberius so enthusiastically. She knew what he was, what he could do. She knew he was sentient. Maybe Tiberius was of more use here than ey initially surmised. Ey beckoned to the cat, then pointed an overlong nail directly at the pedestal, tapping it twice. "You know where to put this." Ey nudged the ancient claw with a knuckle.

Captain

Sissy was so far gone, she'd barely reacted to him being an absolute terror and using her bosom as a bongo - however gently he'd done it. Captain delicately put his nose against her cheek and licked. "Whatever you say, dollface." Smokestack looked bored and annoyed at his companions, and the excitable dame looked...well...excitable. And like she really wanted to hold him. "Why hello there sweetness~"

Captain huffed into his ride's ear, laughing, "Gonna go getchur groove back, Stella?" The Mauvian stretched and rose from Narcissa's shoulders and hopped to the pedestal he'd been directed to by the Red Prince, sniffing at the object briefly before picking it up and tossing it into subspace with a nimble flip. Even inebriated, all the training he'd been put through meant that his acrobatics were solid save for a small wobble on the landing, and a champagne-scented burp.

After he played hide-the-relic, Captain sat up and looked pleased, grooming himself and tucking tail neatly around feet while he surveyed In Step and Sissy further. "Hey sweetness, how 'bout you hand me that trinket too? It looks like it ought to be in Mauvian hands, not mouldering away on some rock in space, yeah?" Captain put on his most charming 'I'm a helpful and good kitty' expression.

"I'm Captain, by the way. And don't worry about the pizza, it wasn't great."

Silent Knight

"Yes."

He said so while knowing full well the moment could end in a heartbeat. He didn't know how long this gala would drag on for, how much time there was. But still, he agreed, and so readily. He would've promised her the moon itself and found a way to make it so if he could've.

Her eyes were so beautiful. He felt dizzy from her spinning, her laughter, the champagne.

"Come any time you wish - I'm sure they'd be more soothed by your smile than anything I'd have to say."

It also made the tongue looser. Or it had? Was this as it was or as it had been or -

She was pressed against him with fingers in his hair, and Alphonse had to ask, unable to bite it back, "May I kiss you?"

Jägerin

It honestly shouldn't have taken her as long as it did to figure out what it was he had in mind. Her only excuse--and it was a pretty damn good excuse--was the shock and delight of just getting to be in his presence again. It shouldn't' have been possible, but he was here. She felt his hand on her arm and voice sliding around her like warm silk.

He'd always been distracting to her, why should death have changed that.

And why shouldn't he have wanted to cause a little chaos?

She watched on as he managed to separate a few stripes of mesh netting from the train of another woman's long dress and her silver eyes slid between fabric and the champagne dubiously. If it were vodka, perhaps, but she had her doubts the bubbly had a high enough proof to hold a flame at all, let alone through a fall.

But they'd see soon enough, one way or another. Though if it did work, if it did light like he wanted...

Jägerin glanced back through the crowd towards the place their hostesses had been arguing. It wasn't anything that'd concerned her or the man she was with so she hadn't paid the confrontation much mind, but the sound of a smack across the face is pretty distinctive, and the shorter of the two had disappeared shortly thereafter, mid rant.

She wasn't sure what she would do if he disappeared before she got to say good bye, again. It was a chance she couldn't let just slip through her fingers.

Ananke/Mori

As Ananke listened intently to the girl she was talking to they were interrupted by the host of the ball. Ananke looked on as eventually, the host blossomed into a more powerful knight than before. All she could do is smile gently and then nodded when Nessy mentioned she should get going.

"Ah yes... I should probably take off as well." With a quick turn of her head, she thought about the jewelry that called to her... but in the end, she felt like it wasn't quite for her exactly. She simply decided to let the magic take her home.

Chauvet

She still couldn't quite believe it. In spite of everything, something had clicked about the wonder, about the lifetimes contained within and the way she remembered the ones who mattered most. It had been a gambit, to say she would undo the work Genevieve did to carve out a history from tokens and artifacts, but something about it had resonated with the wonder. It wasn't Genevieve's way at all...but it still worked. Chauvet deserved to be here after all.

She finished the last of her champagne toast in time to get rushed by Jack, tossing the glass aside with just enough time to lift the lithe girl into her arms for a spin. The champagne had her feeling a little dizzy, but the kiss had her feeling dizzier by far in all the best ways. "Thanks," she laughed, starting to turn pink across the bridge of her nose. "Pffft, and here I thought no one was going to call me on it. Best birthday gift a girl could ask for."

Chauvet Squire didn't wait to think about the implications--she leaned Jack back and kissed her in return, soft and sweet and dizzying.

Sunny

Everything was spinning and it took a moment for Jack to realize that Chauvet was literally spinning and not the soft buzz of champagne. Well, not just that. She laughed as the gallery and crowd swirled around them, one hand drawing up to tuck a wayward curl back behind the shell of her own ear as she grinned down at the redhead.

"No? Well more for me I guess." Her nose wrinkled with a smile, a bit of pink darkening already dark cheeks.

And then she was being dipped back and Jack got a second taste of champagne and soft lips. Her arms slid back around the squire's neck, feeling the pearls rolling against the heels of her hands. Holding on as much as being held, but not for fear of of the taller girl dropping her.

It might have been foolhardy, possibly even a mistake, but it didn't feel like one. Not in the moment.

Blackbird

That smirk. That damned smirk. It stole the breath from Blackbird's lungs.

It took Amon's voice to bring her back to the moment they'd been sharing, and softly she startled, feeling a chill take her. "...As much as I can be, this time," she responded, still distracted, still low. Her brow furrowed under the feather trappings on her face.

"There's something I have to do." Blackbird started to bring his hands up to kiss, but she paused short, shaking her head. "But when I get back, I think we'll have much to talk about." She didn't know the Amon of this time, nor the Giza, but maybe they could have enough time to fill in the gaps before the magic faded.

That was a problem for later--for now, she let his hands fall after one final squeeze and broke into the crowds. Blackbird hobbled at first, fighting the impulse of the limb, but she found there was a certain pliant nature to the structure, if only she minded it enough to find the places where the pistons bent. Halfway across the gallery, she broke into a jog, which was a strangeness and a thrill all its own--her mind was just as certain that she would never run as it was that she could do nothing else. It was neither the somber pace of a general or the fluid sprint of a windrider, but it got her across the room all the same, and compared to anything she'd done in recent years it felt like flying.

She stumbled to a stop just shy of the Reaper's space, strangled by a sudden fear, an artifact of this time and the things it had done to them both. And then she shook it off and grabbed for his arm to pull him around, more afraid to see him disappear than to worry about the repercussions of something as little as a touch.

"Did you think there was somewhere you could go where I wouldn't catch up someday?" He looked leaner than she remembered, but she blinked and was alarmed by the softness of his smile. A part of her knew it was insubordinate, but still she did not let go. She fought with her emotions, and it wrinkled her nose in an expression she made across lifetimes when she was at odds with something. "Do you have any idea how much you were missed?"

Somewhere along the way tears had gathered in her eyes. Blackbird didn't hide from it.

Aurora Night - Methone

"I am sure we could partner together." She liked the idea of that more, but if he wanted to watch, then who was she to disappoint? "I am soothed by your presence as well...."

The chimes of the clock started to ring, and Pix felt the dread of desperation settling in the pit of her stomach. It didn't show on her face, but the stolen moments at one of the few events where they were free to be around each other....She was inclined to keep hold.

His eyes met hers, where her fingers tightened in against the base of his neck, careful not to tangle in the white hair. Her body was already rising, to the tips of her toes to reach his, the small whisper of yes on her lips.

Just one kiss at midnight, she thought, she could have one kiss at midnight before the gala ends and she would return to her planet. Alone but never truly alone.

Just one kiss...

((assuming everything is over at this point))

Zen

Once the clock struck Midnight, it was as though everything stopped, and Zen was suddenly forced back into reality. “What the…?” He wondered, he thought he had seen others! He was sure of it! They didn’t all look human though, so he had wondered if there were somehow others who had been invited to the party. After all, it wouldn’t be the first-time mysterious beings from elsewhere had showed up, but would they have all left at once?

He looked at his drink and set it down, wondering if it had been spiked in some way. That had to be it right? He had just been seeing things because the beverages had been spiked. Next time he went anywhere that magical beings were supposed to be present, he would make sure to stay away from any drinks that he didn’t know the origin of. But for right now, he figured it would be best to get going. He hadn’t been able to look at as much as he had wanted, and it seemed that others were now leaving too. He would have to ask Chauvet later if he could get a real tour compared to just being stuck in one building at a party. For now though, he felt tired, and he would be crashing as soon as he got back to his apartment.

[Zen is EXITING entirely]
