                      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOmega - New York

As soon as Blake made mention of the sentinels on the inside, Aren exchanged a frustrated look with Narcissa. This was not their day. Knowing they were in over their heads if all twelve machines honed in on them at once, Aren booked a thumb toward one of the other hallways. “Hopefully there’s a control room with a kill switch somewhere in here.” He said, forcing himself to be optimistic.

Hesitating for a second, the native stated down at his feet. He didn’t want to leave her, his other half. But someone needed to scout, and with her penchant for destruction, she was of better use here, close to the robots designed to hunt them. She had a team to lead. To protect. In the pit of his stomach, he felt them echo the same sentiment — Be careful. And with that, he disappeared from view.

She seemed friendly enough - she did not even appear phased when he tried to blow up her cell with one of his arrows. Not that it had worked anyway. Shrinking down just enough to slip through the bars while the smoke still billowed through the room, he grinned at her as he grew back to us natural size. Pulling out a bag of chips that was wedged between his quiver and his suit, he handed them to her, his heart breaking just a little at giving up his war-time snack. “Take these.” He said, shrinking down once more to escape the cell as easily as he’d infiltrated it. Looking back at her, his smile had just a hint of sassiness to it. “Size shifters don’t really make for good captives.” He said, dimples on either side of his upturned mouth.

The girl panicked then, rushing to the bars, pleading that he not leave. Her emerald eyes glimmered with her newfound terror, and he frowned. “Don’t worry.” The native assured her, his tone soft and kind. “I might be a savage, but Na’a raised me with some manners. That includes keeping promises; I will be back.” He swore to her then, silently vowing that nothing would stop him from letting this girl rot in cell. “I just can’t get you out of here by myself. Unfortunately, my mutation doesn’t extend to others, so I can’t just shrink you down, stuff you in my pocket and walk out of here.” He said apologetically, wishing it would work that way, just this once.

“There is someone here who can get you out though. I just have to go get her.” He explained, hoping he was instilling some confidence in her. “I don’t trust her to figure out how to get here on her own. This place is a labyrinth, and she once got lost in a mall.” He said, clearly still astounded that two women could pull off such a feat. Weren’t women inherently attuned to places that involved shopping?

Leaving her then, Aren moved through the compound with a new sense of urgency, instead of the meandering pace he’d taken to find the cells.

                      **

“Way too much information, D, seriously.” He said into the door with a grimace. Whoever said guys were gross clearly hadn’t spent much time with an outspoken woman. Waiting for her to emerge from the lavatory, he held his breath when the door swung open - just in case whatever she left in there tried to waft out with her.

Aren described the cage, and shrugged at her question. “Not sure. But when I tried to grow and increase my strength, it didn’t budge.” Nodding along until Daylia trailed off, his chocolate eyes laced with worry. They had to get her out. She’d looked so helpless, stuck in the corner like a kicked dog. “Nothing gave me any resistance when I slipped through, so I’m guessing that whatever they used to make the bars is just really, really strong.” Plus it wasn’t like he had super strength by any means... “They weren’t very thick either, if that matters for you.” He said, trying to sound more confident than he felt. All he knew was that they couldn’t leave her there.

Leading his teammate out, he didn’t bother to hide his glee when the chameleon remembered what he had said about Gracie. He absolutely lost it all over again when she finished saying “monumental.” “Obviously she needs to get laid... in a BIG way.” The native said wistfully, his expression as sober as a best friend’s delivering a eulogy at a funeral. “I’m sure that, since Felix is certain he inspired it, he will be happy to oblige.” He said with a snicker, guessing that she likely wouldn’t approve of that sort of arrangement, given her man-eating reputation.

It took significantly less time to move through the compound, and with the alarms knocked out in the corridors, it was far less painful to endure. His ears were still ringing from the first time they had sounded. Daylia’s question about being treated like animals garnered a soft look, sadness in the depths of his chocolate-imbued eyes. “Because they don’t understand.” He said quietly, an edge of pain in his tone.

Though, the moment Daylia spied the bag of Doritos in Luci’s hands, levity returned in full force. “Of course I gave her Doritos.” He said in a droll tone, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “She looked hungry and Funions aren’t a good snack unless you can brush your teeth right after.” He said, making a face as he imagined the stinky onion breath.

Grinning at the prisoner, he made a gesture toward Daylia. “Told you I’d come back.”

The molecular manipulator tested her abilities against the bars, and once satisfied, she walked into the cell as if there were no bars at all. Obviously proud of himself for hatching this plan, he stood tall, his chest puffed out triumphantly. “She’s much more useful for this sort of thing than me.”

The dark-haired girl seemed hesitant to take D’s hand, and Aren cocked his head to the side in contemplation, not knowing if skin to skin contact really mattered to his teammate. Or if anything the other girl could put out would affect Daylia in the slightest. Could someone who was intangible really get hurt from simple contact? Sighing, he silently cursed Scooter. These were the things that the X-men should be teaching - not wasting his time with stupid US government.

                                        ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ PROBABILITY SENSE xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

xIt was his first mission without his best friend. The normally upbeat, probability adept wasn’t wearing the same worry free demeanor that he typically exuded. Others may have chalked it up to the weight of the mission they were on - where they were and what they were attempting to do. It undoubtedly was in part responsible, but it was Christian’s absence that had really wipe the grin from his face. They had been inseparable since they’d met, and Charlie hadn’t even realized how much he would miss his wolfy friend until he’d boarded a jet without him…

The two had always had each other’s backs. If everything else went to s**t, they would survive as long as they had each other. The entirety of the Omega team couldn’t keep him from feeling like he was all alone without his best friend.

He sat by himself and didn’t make a peep throughout most of the flight, until he found solace in a pretty, absolutely badass redhead. Kerrigan must have notice his head wasn’t really in the game as the jet took them to the facility they would be storming - it was the Omega way, after all. At some point during the flight she must have noticed his sullen state, and come to check on him. It was a good distraction, if nothing else. She would never be able to take Christian’s place, but maybe Charlie could make room in his life for another battle buddy.

At the very least, he knew she had his back, and he would happily watch hers.

As they landed, Narcissa gave them one last chance to sit out the mission. But some part of him felt like he was right where he belonged - with or without Christian, with or without some heavy hitting ability that could blow a hole through the intimidating machines they were about to face. It was hard to explain, or maybe it wasn’t… Maybe it all boiled down to the fact that he didn’t really feel like he belonged anywhere else.

The alarms actually hadn’t gone off as soon as Charlie would have expected. The Omegas had a lot of big, flashy abilities. Some of them couldn’t help but show off. Sometimes they seemed more like a wrecking crew than a team of X-Men, though Charlie didn’t get to smash things up with his teammates. It was unfortunate, it seemed fun. He watched the beginnings of the wake of destruction that would be left by the red team - win or lose they would leave a scar on this place. While some of his teammates dealt with turrets - some in rather… creative ways - others started forcing their way into the facility. And Lucky’s keen stare took in every detail before him before getting too far from the jet.

The sight of the statute on the skateboard, and Gracie’s comm message followed by others, brought a grin to the lucky man’s face. Everything seemed a little duller without his best friend, but it was good to know that the rest of the team could still find some amusement even with the threat looming ahead.

His brightened features faded, but not completely, as Blake’s message about the sentinels inside of the facility. Then he saw the petite blonde heading into the facility. ”Here we go, I guess.” he muttered to Kerrigan, following after the Omega’s leader. She certainly packed a big punch in that tiny package, it was something to behold, watching her tear through machines the way she did.

A voice he recognized as one of their newer recruits, Fracture, came through on their comms, suggesting a recon party to scout the facility more thoroughly than their current ‘storm the tower’ strategy. ”Well me and Knoxx don't pack the same kinda punch as the rest of the team, so maybe we’re the best candidates. We can run ahead and see what we can find.” he offered with a shrug, looking to the redhead to see if she even thought it was a good idea. If they were lacking in information and wanted to do something about it, his eye for detail and Kerrigan’s tactical mind could probably help. They would probably all spread out regardless, it was quickest way to cover ground, and nobody on the red team liked standing around waiting...

Either way, the Omegas were coming in

                                                          Knock knock. Who's there? : D

At this Location: Facility Entrance Thinking About: D*ck While on Team: Omega

After his response for assistance, Fracture, Paladin, and Oni. Watching Oni teleport across the battlefield and getting the grenades in place, Cam poked his head out from cover and formed a fairly decent sized bubble of oxygen around the target. The normal blast radius of the grenade was doubled from the assistance Cam's abilities.

All the while Paladin had played rabbit to get the other turrets to shift fire. He had used the 'corpse' of one of the small fries they took out to use as a makeshift shield. It was being battered down, but in by no means anymore beaten down than they were as Fracture destroyed them. The twisting of metal as they were crushed by a force that did not match the size of the wielder.

This was Cameron's first battle in a completely different war than what he was used to. It was different having been apart of a more well equipped and superior fighting force. In this instant, he felt so much smaller. He was fighting tiny robots and automated turrets designed to kill specifically them. Not a group of people with the thought of killing him, but things quite literally programmed to. He glanced over to Oni with a smile. "Thanks, I really need to look into some for of incendiary or explosive rounds."

At that moment, a voice came over the comms. Gracie asked for everyone not to look in her direction, and for a mediocre reason. "I mean, if we're going to give it to 'em like this, might as well make them bite the pillow. No one put on any lube, make 'em bite it hard." Cam joked over the open comms.

A few seconds afterwards Cissa checked on him asking if he was 5x5. "...yes? I'm green if that's what you meant. No injuries, and I'm still able to fight." He asked, somewhat confused, as five by five was a signal strength check.

As he sat there checking his equipment to make sure he was actually green, he extended his hand out to Oni for the grenades, all the while Fracture mentioned a team for recon.

"If I may offer my services, I've spent plenty of time having to keep my eyes peeled for things that want to kill me, and reporting them if I don't dispatch them. A front liner wouldn't be an issue, I wouldn't mind a meat shield since I can't protect myself too well outside of my own body armor." Cam offered up in response. He spent more than his fair share walking around in a desert being watched, while actively looking for threats. Only difference is he was already being threatened, he just had to look for even more deadly threats.

"Well, you’re the one out there banging on a bathroom door. The hell did you expect?" Daylia tossed back at the native. D was in no way shape or form a proper lady. One would have thought people would have learned that about her by now. She pushed the door open, not missing the fact that Aren was holding his breath. She simply smirked as she shook her head as she continued her inquiry about the cell.

He gave her what information he could, albeit it wasn’t much. Not that she could really expect that much from him, or anyone for that matter. She nodded along with his words as her uniform appeared after her awkward arm wiggle.
"Gotcha. So long as they’re not electrified I should be able to pull it off." She couldn’t imagine anything else really standing in her way.

D followed her teammate off the jet. She paused briefly, recalling that he wanted her to see something on the way. It hadn’t taken the faux redhead long to find the huge moving member that Gracie had cooked up. The man was absolutely giddy with her response.
"Oh my god, that poor girl." D muttered as she shook her head. Gracie’s sex life would probably be the topic of many a conversation after today. Though as Aren mentioned Felix, her head shook even harder. "Good lord, please not him."

It wasn’t that he wasn’t attractive or anything, but it was his attitude that put her off the idea. She couldn’t see the speedster keeping quiet about a romp in the sheets, especially with Gracie. It would be the last thing she would want for her friend.
"I just, ugh." She was still at a loss of words.

The pair didn’t waste much more time before they began the trek to find the prisoner. Thankfully it didn’t take much searching, and D was glad Aren had managed to remember his way back fairly well. The conditions the woman was forced to live in was terrible, making D angry at the treatment they were given.
"How can they not?" This was someone, a person. Just because they could do extraordinary things didn’t mean they were animals. D couldn’t help but wonder about the people than ran places like this. What if this was one of their children? Would they feel the same way?

Her darker thoughts were pushed aside as she caught sight of the Doritos the woman had.
"Wait, you have Funions too?" Her head tilted to the side after a moment. "Where in the world do you keep them? And do you want to be my battle buddy from here on out?" Maybe she could convince him to share his snacks on the way back. Not that she should really be worried about food, not with the tummy troubles.

"A true man of his word." Daylia mumbled as she faced the bars, attempting to activate her powers. She hoped that there was no electricity running through them, if there was she was going to be hurting. Deciding to treat it like a band-aid, she simply jammed a fist through. When nothing shocked her back she stepped into the cage.

She looked back to Aren and his puffed up chest. A brow rose beneath her mask.
"Okay there Rooster, you can stand down now." She said, poking a little fun at the man.

Her attention returned to the woman on the bed as she extended her hand. Unfortunately, the woman seemed scared to accept. D frowned in confusion as Lucianna spoke up. Daylia nodded slowly as the little hamster in her head ran.
"Okay, okay." She said as she weighed their options.

"Well, we won’t be leaving you here again, that much I can tell you. What’s your name, and what happens with skin to skin?" D asked as she studied the women's attire. If she could generation poison, it may already be on her clothes. If she was like Rogue then clothing touching would be fine. If she was able to output electricity, that may require them to have to actually look for the keys.

"If you’re up for trying it, I want you to stand behind me and grab onto my shoulders. You’ll have to hang on tight and not let go till I give you the okay. We don’t need you getting stuck in the bars." This seemed to be the best answer D could come up with. Well, unless she could control electricity. If that was the case, D would probably end up on the floor twitching for a while.

Either way, she was willing to give it a shot so long as Lucianna was.

                                                                      User Image

Always you, darlin’. Never me.” He joked back into his line to Alice. “I don’t think anyone ever accused me of impudence.” Even in the midst of exploding robots, his tone kept the lilt of a gentleman, as if it were the only thing he’d ever been.

Gracie’s monument brought some levity to their situation, and most took the opportunity to cling to the jokes they could make at the poor girl’s expense. He certainly hadn’t been able to control the laughter that burst out of him, and the quip came out before he could stop it. She responded in a near shriek, and he winced. “Ouch.” But what gave him pause was Alice’s response. “I think I’ll call that bluff.” The cowboy said incredulously, using the private link with his friend again. “I’ve known you a month of Sundays now, and I know that one isn’t true.

Felix dubbed the statue a monument to how badly the hex manipulator wanted him, and he stifled a laugh then, though it did brighten his eyes with a brief moment of mirth. “I think it says something.” He agreed into the comm lines. “But careful, or you’ll get Measure’s fan club’s attention and they might to start stalking you.

Cam’s response caused him to grimace and he looked over at his blond partner in crime. “That sounds a mite painful.

Speeding on ahead, Blake took a look inside the compound before coming back out to warn the team. “I’m not sure.” The Texan said hesitantly. It took the whole team last time for one… “I’m not sure that if we start messing with one, the others won’t wake up.” And while they could handle the sleeping giants one at a time, if even two activated they were taking a chance he didn’t want to initiate. The earth shaker asked if she should make her own door, and Blake shook his head. “Save your energy.” He said, having a feeling they were going to need every bit of it for the fight to come.

Master Mold would take everything and then some.

Aren’s broadcast that he was going to try and find a control room gave Blake a glimmer of hope… though he was surprised to see him run off on his own. “Happy findings.” He bid the native, putting their usual cowboys and indians banter on the backburner for now.

One of the newer members to their ensemble asked if he’d scouted any other ways in, and Blake turned to Chi-Chi’s channel. “Door’s open now…” He said, looking at the remnants of metal that he’d passed through, knowing he’d need to slow down soon or he’d not be up for the real fight to come. “Measure went off to the right in search of a control room. Sentinels are in lines immediately to the left of the entrance.

Farren asked about a scouting party, and Blake considered the idea. On one hand, some of their team wasn’t really equipped to fight against adaptive metal giants that were designed to hunt them… On the other, they could run right into Master Mold, and be out-gunned and under manned… Glancing over as Narcissa took on two of the mini sentinels with ease, he nodded when Charlie volunteered himself and Kerrigan. The compound is large… if anyone wants to go with Fracture, please note that stealth may be key to your survival. Stay together. And report back often so that we know you’re okay.

Glancing over at Alice, he heaved a sigh, and headed left, directly into the rooms with the sentinels. This was a terrible idea, but as Narcissa had said, they were the firepower behind this operation. “Think you can knock them off their feet so we can start cutting off their heads, and carving out their hearts?

Outside the compound

Mustering the nerve to leave the plane took more willpower than she thought she had. Rising from her seat, she relied on her telekinesis to hold her upright, just in case her knees got weak. Noticing nervous ticks in the man next to her, the blond couldn’t stop herself from trying to lift his spirits. “Someone of my?” She repeated, a featherlight hand coming back to touch her chest. For the first time, she glanced around the jet, and took note of how few people had been here longer than herself. Bella, obviously. Dimitri, Alex… All of the rest of them had signed up after... When had she become one of the team mates with any sort of seniority?

That thought caused her heart to triple in its pace. She was considered one of the vet members, and it had scarcely been a full year since she’d been promoted to the Alphas. Just… how screwed were they? Nibbling on her bottom lip, her fingers found her blond hair again, twisting it nervously before she caught herself and let out a nervous laugh. “Oh… I’m probably only a third grader that just looks really tall.” She joked lightly, hoping that he wouldn’t point out that she was still relatively short in comparison. Now wasn’t the time to point out how many countless mistakes she made in the field. Or how often she tended to land in the infirmary after their adventures. As a telekinetic, she failed to live up to the level of bad-assery expected of her.

Assuring Lachlan that they could have used someone like him the last time they went out in the field, her tone was genuine and kind, and likely not what the man expected, given his aversion to her best friend. “That’s all we can ask.” When he said he would do his best to fill the gap they once had. “If nothing else, we Alphas are good at adapting to the situation… what with constant changes in our roster, it never fails to amaze me how we can still cohesively work as a team. Just have each other’s backs, and hope we all come back in one piece.” She said with another smile, little bits of optimism coloring her words.

Alex too looked to her for support, and Aurelie silently wondered when she had become a beacon of hope. Reminding herself it was her mutation, and the facets that came with it eased the knots in her stomach somewhat, and she assured the petite French girl that her skills were every bit as useful in the field, citing her own need for glasses. “I’m sure some do.” She responded when the girl pointed out that some men might find them attractive, though there wasn’t any heart in it. Impressing a man was the very last thing on her mind these days; given her track record, she was tempted to swear off romance entirely. “But, I don’t like them on me.” She said with a grin. Her own approval mattered much more than anyone else’s.

Dimitri broke up the conversation with a few jokes, one that went right over her head for the time being, but she appreciated him flanking her as they stepped out into the warzone. It wasn’t until he used his power against one of the mini-sentinels that she got what he had been alluding to. “Right. It just took a second.” She said back with a laugh.

They hit the ground running, so to speak. She instantly threw a shield in front of Finn (albeit a few seconds too late) when she realized he was using himself as a human shield, her watchful eyes on her teammates, and not for herself. She was quick to apologize to both him and Colin for not being quicker on the uptake, and his humble answer garnered a brief pull at her lips. “I don’t know if I’d go that far. Maybe saved you from being down for the count on this mission.

Colin too seemed relieved not to have been blasted, and Aurelie nodded to the girl. “I’ll cover the two of you if you want to regroup over here.” She said, ready to shield them as necessary.

Lachlan dove in front of her, taking the brunt of a blast from a mini-sentinel before she realized, and she knelt beside him, her eyes laced with concern. Apologizing profusely, she winced as he coughed. “There definitely is.” She corrected him, looking over his body to check for any bleeding. She patted Eden’s hand on her shoulder, understanding the sentiment; she too was worried for the farm boy. Sapphire eyes rounded back on her, saying everything she didn't: I'm sorry he got hurt.

Her eyes didn’t leave his until Alexander said something in Latin over the comms, and she tilted her head, confused. If it was supposed to mean something, most of the people around her too had missed its importance. Jokingly asking if she should request he speak English in the future, the human sensory overload tried to decipher it. Lifting her shoulders toward her ears, sapphire eyes glimmered with a small bit of humor when she too said she didn’t want to play translator. “I guess Siren will have to cover effective communication with the team at some point.

Voicing her concern that Wraith was on his own, it didn’t take long for Dimitri, Gabe and August to catch up to him. Marcel asked if everyone was alright when he registered that Lachlan had taken a hit, and Alex answered for them, hesitant to say that the strong man was truly okay. Siege came over the comm then, saying that he and Jedi were pushing in, and it was an effort not to suck in a sharp breath. Two mutants against a sentinel didn’t seem like a sound plan, and they all knew that the robots were somewhere, just waiting for them. Thankfully, Wraith and Dimitri seemed to be right on point, and she breathed just a little easier.

She frowned when Alex said something about someone else singing in a foreign language, and she shrugged. “Must be the thing to do today.” She said, not hearing the same thing the French girl was. All she could hear was explosions, metal twisting, and then… she winced as a voice boomed from with inside the compound, making the ground tremble beneath them. Her knees echoed the sentiment.

“Security breach. Mutants detected. Preparing upload.”

Even from outside, the words were crisp, clear. Menacing. She swallowed, staring across the yard, into the compound where half their team had disappeared. Four of them, to a sentinel that had likely repaired itself as Bella had warned.

But what was worse, the sentinel determined that those four guys were enough of a threat to wake up others, and as the giants moved presumably through the compound, she could feel the weight of their steps beneath her, promising that an army was coming to fight them. Or rather, the Alphas and Omegas that had managed to get inside. “We have to get in there.” She whispered breathlessly, noting that several human-sized robots were still coming strong. How many had they downed now? Glancing over the plumes of smoke from destroyed turrets and hacked robots… it should have been enough by now.

Storm’s fog receded, and any air in her lungs evaporated as a new threat came into view, just as Alex nudged her to alert her of an issue. The boys inside might have had an army to fight soon, but now they had their own, full-sized sentinel standing between them and the compound, just as Playboy had requested backup. Where did that one come from?” And why had Dimitri’s words been cut off?

Allegra to Playboy, what’s going on?” Exchanging a look with the French girl next to her, worry embedded itself into her expression. Even if they had their own to mind, she couldn't help but wonder if something had gotten them. "Can you see anything?"

Breach detected on perimeter. Extermination mode active.” Glowing yellow bulbs for eyes seemed to hone in on them, almost as if the robot could stare.

Aurelie shuddered involuntarily under its scrutiny, and threw up an invisible force field around them to give them a little time for tactics.

Marcel deliberated on the safest route, and the would-be ballerina shook her head. “Nowhere is safe.” She murmured in response. And she meant it. As long as these monstrosities existed, there was no where they could effectively hide forever.

The hydrokinetic asked if Lachlan had ever been launched before, apparently thinking of sending the strong man flying, and Aurelie bit down on her cheek as she thought of all the possible ways that might go wrong. Thankfully Finn picked up the idea, and added the notion that they would need to work on a distraction. But Eden’s point caused her to nod sympathetically. Some part of this still made her nervous.

He’d already sustained injuries… “Even if I put a shield up, if he collides with it full-force…” It was going to hurt.

Making a motion with her hand, an invisible force lifted Finn from the ground with a telekinetic shield directly under his feet when he asked for a lift. Bella and Eden also took up the role of distraction, hurling sound waves toward the ground, to send her sailing in the air where the flight-gifted mutant picked her up. Bella threw sonic waves toward the face, cracking the photoreceptors as Eden moved them through the sky in an incredibly complicated dance. Directing her line toward Krakken, Aurelie tried for a little bit of humor to mask how uncomfortable she was with their growing list of problems.

So, as my personal rag doll, where do you want to go?” She said, moving him in the air effortlessly, taking him opposite of Isabella and Eden so that he might deflect the attention when it got too close to their fearless leader.

[[ooc: okay. I’m really sorry that this post is so long, and so very, very dry. I’m also sorry that a few things had to be moved around and re-defined - half of the posts were treating the robot that was attacking the group outside as a mini-sentinel, and then the other half were treating it as the activated sentinel from the inside that Magni Prime introduced to the IC for us. The big sentinel that Wraith, Siege, Playboy, and Jedi attacked is still inside the compound, and has not ventured outside. The guys didn’t give it much of a chance to really move, lol. And the sentinel post is done from inside the building. (Hence the use of the word, “floor.” I apologize for not including a tag in the post that specified that more lucidly, and it shall be done in the future.)

Therefore, I have had to make adjustments so that this makes more sense, and get us all back on the same page. I have underlined the parts that will help make things a little more cohesive for future posts. If there is a problem, you have questions, are confused… etc, please reach out. Again, I’m sorry for all the confusion, and for making a chopping block of some details to get some clarity. I tried to keep as much as I could so that it'll be easier for you to integrate the big sentinel into your posts.

                                                                                    -With love and thanks

Location: Sentinel Facility
Thoughts: Fighting to survive

User ImageThe sound of gun fire as it hit across the piece of armor he held up gave him a rather strange sensation. The rhythmic staccato of the munitions bouncing off the piece of metal plating was almost therapeutic, were it not for the fact that at any moment a bullet could rip right through and hit him he’d be relaxing. But he was stuck between that desire for relaxation and the ancient fight or flight response that propelled the species into survival for the hundreds of thousands of years the genus “homo” has existed.

He felt, and saw, the metal plating give way as the force of the weapons fire kept its pace. That was the problem with these machines, they had no real issue with endurance. They just kept going and going, without exhaustion, without a thought, without remorse. At least till the ammunition ran out. And by his guess, that ammunition was not going to run out anytime soon. He thought he might have had some more time before the armor started to give out, but he soon heard the *pop* as a round tore through the metal plate. Had he been standing with his chest parallel to the metal it would have ripped straight through his armor and bore right into his heart. But he wasn’t an idiot, and kept his torso perpendicular to the makeshift shield, as the round ripped through the plating and blazed right past him.

It took a few milliseconds for him to register the warm trickling sensation, and the subsequent unholy pain, that emanated from his chest. The round hadn’t exactly gone into his body, but rather it grazed his chest, right at the xiphoid process. Stifling the urge to yell his damned head off, he saw quick salvation when Oni called back on the comm link, telling them to wait. Now he didn’t know just what the hell she did, but soon she and Aero managed to get a grenade at the turret. He burrowed himself further into the plating to avoid the shrapnel.

Rising up, Oni asked if everyone was alright. Looking down at the trickle of blood, he focused on it for a second, waiting for the armor to form back over. He concentrated further, letting a small piece of armor form a plug on the bleeding wound. Had he access to a piece of hot metal, he’d have cauterized the wound already, but sadly he did not. Quickly wiping away at what blood had come down, he shook his head indicating that he was fine.

Quickly after that, he heard Oni shout for him to watch out. Turning in the direction she was looking, he saw the skating, singing, p***s hurtling towards him. He barely any time to react, with the thing clipping him by the arm as he got out of the way fast as he could. He was spun around a few times as he tried to right himself.

“Alright, I need a drink after this is over.” he said to no one as he got himself situated once more for the fight. Fracture and Aero were talking about running a recon group, to which he looked around. He saw Aren head in up ahead, along with Narcissa and Daylia, he decided to make his way into that direction. If the Native, or anyone really, ran into any prisoners chances are they might need some help.

“I’m gonna move ahead, see about locating prisoners. They might need some help, who knows what kind of condition they’ll be in. And if you’re looking a munitions, I hear one of the Alphas might be able to help. He’s a bit of a kooky son b***h, blonde fella who likes himself some guns. We make it out of this he may hook you up.”

Making his way to the entrance he felt the world around him shake. Moving fast, he shot to the right, finally coming across a cell. Looking inside, he saw Aren, Daylia, and what looked like a prisoner eating a bag of Doritos stood inside.

Looking in with his armored features, he called out to his teammates “What’s the situation in here? You guys find any other prisoners?” There seemed to be some apprehension in the room, for whatever reason. He peered around at the edges of the cell door, trying to find a means of leverage by which he could get the door open.

“If you guys want I can try to pry the door open. Save Chameleon’s energy some, in case we need her for other people stuck here.” he offered, waiting for a reply, “Your call of course.” he said, looking to the red headed molecular manipulator. He wasn’t about to tell her what to do, though he had no problem offering up a suggestion to them. He brought up a rod in his hands, a with a flat point on the one end. Tapping on the edges of the door with the rod, he poked and prodded to find a decent edge to get into. But it seemed to be of no avail at the moment.

Still, letting the brute force be well… brutish was a good thought.

Team: Omegas
Location: X-Jet to Sentinel Compound
Thinking: No Turning Back

Suiting up was the first exciting thing she had done in what felt like a lifetime, even though she acknowledged that it had actually only been a few short weeks. Still, it felt a little bit like she was going through the motions, as she piled onto the X-Jet with the rest of the Omegas. She smiled encouragingly at those that seemed to need it as she passed and took her place amongst the black and reds. Her green eyes made sure to connect with Roland, giving him a trace of a smile. Kerrigan made small talk with those around her before turning quiet and observant of those on the plane as they drew nearer to their destination. She could see on their faces that some were nervous, some were downright scared, and the more veteran members of their team seemed calm and collected on the outside, which was all they could really do. It didn't take long for her to notice that there was one face in particular that seemed devoid of its usual bravado.

Sidling up to Charlie, the muscle mimic flashed him a smile, tossing her ponytail over her shoulder as she leaned back in her chair slightly. She had a sneaking suspicion that his down mood had something to do with the fact that they were wolfless for this mission. In fact, the more she thought about it, she realized that she wasn't sure she had ever really seen the two of them apart, or at least on the way to meet each other for the next shenanigan they were planning. It seemed like her attention did the trick, the probability sensate seeming to perk up a bit as they neared their destination. She knew that he would have her back in the mission, and took it upon herself to keep an eye on him since he was so out of his element. It was the least she could do.

Kerrigan's own focus began to tighten on the mission ahead as they neared the sentinel facility, her gaze falling out the window of the jet and taking in the sights as they came in for their final descent. Her gaze fell on Narcissa as the blonde offered them one final chance to back out of the mission. She merely grinned at her leader, shaking her head silently to indicate that she was there fore the long haul. This was no time to be getting cold feet.

As soon as the jet landed, they were greeting with alarms and turrets. She couldn't suppress the sigh that escaped her, muttering so that likely only those closes to her would be able to hear, "It wouldn't be an Omega welcome wagon without alarms and weapons."

True to form, the Omegas leapt into action, with some heading directly for the turrets, some for the guards, and some strategizing on how they should proceed. Before long, she saw a giant p***s moving through the area on a skateboard, which stopped the redhead in her tracks. No doubt it was the work of someone in their ranks - she even had a suspicion who - but it certainly served as the distraction that some of their number needed. It was beautiful chaos.

It was Omega chaos.

Blake's message to the team brought her back to the mission, her expression hardening once again. Narcissa began heading towards the facility, Kerrigan laughing softly at Charlie's muttered words. She fell into step just behind him as he began following their sunspot. She might lack the overwhelming firepower that her best friend had, but the redhead packed her own kind of whallop.

Dealing with any straggler guards that may come her way as the group moved into the facility, she turned to Charlie as he suggested that the two of them could take care of the recon suggested by one of their newer members, Fracture. Before she could respond, however, Aero offered his own services, though he asked for a meat shield so he could focus on finding and reporting other threats ahead of them. Blake also weighed in on the idea, suggesting that whoever went ahead would need to be stealthy and report in often to make sure that the team knew their status, as well as their findings. The sounds of sentinels, however, sent a momentary shiver up her spine, watching as many of their own took off in the direction of danger.

All she could think of was how closely she came to serious injury last time she was forced to take on a sentinel head on. She had managed to scale the thing and do some serious damage to its wiring, but if it hadn't been for Magneto she would have suffered some serious damage from the fall off of it in the process. It wasn't exactly the kind of thing she was looking forward to repeating. Perhaps it was best for her and Charlie - those with less obvious firepower - to focus on clearing guards and assessing the situation farther into the base.

"Aero, if you need a meat shield, Lucky and I volunteer. Let's go," she said simply, motioning for him to confirm that he was ready to go. She hadn't worked much with him outside of the training sessions they had done as a group before coming, but now seemed as good a time as any.

((O.O.C: Please let me know if I missed anything.))

I can’t explain just how it feels, the thoughts of my Premature Burial.
Inside this Oblong Box I lie with the hopes I’ll be buried alive.

All things considered, Rory was not having a good couple of days. The most pressing issue at hand was the pain in his mouth. The device they’d strapped to the lower half of his face to keep him from speaking was not designed with his comfort in mind. It was meant solely to keep him from opening his mouth and driving all his captors to the brink of their sanity. They’d already seen firsthand what he could do when they’d first apprehended him, and they’d wanted none of that. But the pain on the lower half of his face was far from the only pain he currently suffered. His wrists were also chaffing, as well his ankles. He was lying shirtless on a cold slab of metal with his arms and legs bound, a bright light pouring over his body. Aside from him and the surgical equipment surrounding him, he was alone. The staff that were about to experiment on him had left the room in a hurry when an outside commotion suddenly started. He did not know what was going on outside, and at the moment all he could care about was trying his best not to die from the pain clutching at his chest. In the back of his mind he knew he was not actually having a heart attack, but that did not stop him from feeling as if he was going to die right this very minute. It’d been… however long since he’d last taken his medication, and while the scientists at whatever hellhole this facility were merciful enough to feed him oxygen through a tube to keep him from hyperventilating, they did not have the common decency to sedate him before they left to address whatever was going on outside. Panic attacks weren’t all that fun at the best of times, let alone when imprisoned by bigots with a fetish for experimenting on those with a particular gene in their bodies.

If it was at all possible, he would be screaming.

He did not even know how many days it had been since he’d been captured. It had been a rough couple of weeks for the X-Men in general, but he’d been away for most of the recent troubles with the Sentinels and such. He’d been visiting his family in Rhode Island when the Sentinels attacked the school. His family decided it would be safer if he stayed with them, and so he stayed in Pickman Manor for the last few weeks. He mostly worked on taxidermy with his sister to keep himself entertained. He kept indoors to keep any of the locals from knowing he was there, which would surely bring down authorities to his front door. It worked for a while. He was not the type to get cabin fever from staying inside too long. In fact, most days he preferred the indoors. The Manor was large enough that it was virtually a world onto itself anyway. There were plenty of things to do and photograph there without having to go into town.

For a while, it worked. He’d been able to avoid any undue attention. But eventually they came knocking on his door. Either he or one of his family members slipped up, or one of their neighbors had finally decided to report suspicious activity, or something else. The next thing he knew he was turning himself in to keep his family safe. Not long after that, he was in handcuffs in the back of a squad car. Once they’d gotten far enough away from his home, he decided to try his hand at an escape. He decided to open up his mouth and speak Aklo, unsure of what would happen but sure that it would likely end up better than wherever he was going. Not long after, the car was in the middle of a ditch, with the driver shouting and babbling on about “the black goat,” and Rory was crawling out with the handcuff keys in his hands. He had no recourse but to run into the woods.

He was in the woods for hours, but Rory was no survivalist. He didn’t know how to hide his tracks or survive on his own. He was a sheltered rich boy who spent most of his time behind a camera viewfinder. He had no idea what he was doing or how to outrun trained professionals. So it was no surprise when a search party was sent after him, and he was eventually apprehended. He did not even have enough time to react when he felt a sudden sharp p***k at the back of his neck. The next thing he knew, he was waking up in a dark cell. That was when the first panic attack came.

                                                        It was not the last.

He had no idea how long he’d been imprisoned. He’d had very little sleep and the only thing really breaking the monotony is when he was given food. That was especially painful. The device the fixed to his mouth would not let him eat normally, and no one dared remove it for fear of what he could actually do to them. Instead they held him down and shoved a long tube through his nose and poured what he assumed was something edible through it just to keep him alive. It made his insides feel like they were on fire when they did it. So far it had happened three times, and he dreaded it happening yet again. Thankfully, the next time his captors came, it was not to feed him. Instead, they came to cart him away and experiment on him. What felt like hours as he was being wheeled away from his cell were the worst. He wanted to think about his family and all those he was leaving behind. He wanted to wonder if these people would even tell them if he was dead or not. He would have loved to be able to say that his final thoughts were for those he loved. Instead, all he could think about was how much his chest hurt and his lungs felt like they were about to collapse and OH GOD HE WAS GOING TO DIE!

It was hard to think of the people who were tearing his shirt off and strapping him down to the surgery table as actual human beings. Humans surely could not be so heartless that they would look at a man fearing for his life and treat him like he was a lab rat. He did not even know what they were going to experiment on him for. He was nothing special in the mutation department. Sure, he could do some damage with his voice, but it wasn’t like he could should laser beams out of his hands or move mountains. All he did was talk in a funny way. But before all that could be answered, the noises started. He didn’t know what was going on outside. The staff present decided to leave the room to investigate, and Rory was left to stew and wonder what the hell was going on. The loud noises suggested violence.

It only just occurred to him that maybe the X-Men were finally coming to shut down this place. He did not want to get his hopes up, but he immediately began to bang the back of his head against the table he lay on in the hopes that he would grab someone’s attention. He tried to scream, but all that would come out is a muffled squeal, as his gag held down his tongue. Even if the X-Men were not here, it was not like his captors would treat him any better if he remained quiet. The least he could do is try his best to get free.

Well, I’m the man who's used up, washed up, bricked up.
Descent into maelstrom, bedlam, Redrum.
Bet the devil my head, misled, bloodshed.
Heart under the floorboards, beats for Lenore.
Nevermore.

User Image|| OOC: Crappy Lachlan post. I'm terrible at responding to these huge group posts. Feel free to auto launch Lachlan next post. =) ||

Lachlan remained kneeling for a few moments, breathing heavily as he rubbed his forearms. They had taken the brunt of the blast as he'd used them in order to protect his face and chest. He didn't immediately stand up as catching his breath and adjusting to the burning sensation took him a few moments but eventually he rose to assure everyone he was alright. Of course, if he took another hit, he wasn't so sure he'd recover as quickly the second time.

Luckily for him, Marcel had stepped in to attempt to soften the blow, a notion very much appreciated by the super strong mutant, though his thanks to his fellow alpha was delayed. The farm boy was still a little dazed from the hit. He couldn't say he'd ever taken an energy blast before this point in time. "Thanks for the help," Lachlan echoed briefly over the comm, "by the way."

Not long after Marcel walked over to join up with the remainder of the group outside the complex, a booming robotic voice shook the frequencies of the comms from within the complex. From what Lachlan managed to gather, it sounded like the sentinel the group inside had been dealing with must have managed to repair itself and was up for round two.

The urgency to join them inspired the strong mutant to begin marching forward while respectfully dismissing Alex's skepticism and concern. While appreciated, the last thing he wanted to do was sit out on the first mission he'd ever been on because he'd taken one hit. What use was he to his team if he sat out every time he got roughed up a little? "I appreciate the concern, Flairer, I really do, but I'm alright to continue. Just consider this a warm up that went a little more literally than intended." Perhaps some humor would help ease her worry.

"Nonsense," he assured Aurelie yet again with an amiable smile that insisted no apologies were required. They were a team and his role involved taking some of the harder hits if the situation called for it. He'd made the call on his own so he had no one to blame but himself for choosing to follow through with it.

Their time to exchange words was brief as the sentinel that had been preoccupying Finn and Colin registered in the forefront of his mind. He was still slower at processing everything than normal but was slowly regaining full cognitive functionality.

Marcel turned to him and spoke up, asking him if he'd ever been launched before turning back to look at the sentinel again. Lachlan shrugged in response and when Eden came to his defense, the strong mutant smirked softly in appreciation at the thoughtful gesture. However, he wasn't going to allow her to speak on his behalf, he roughly knew his limits and sometimes one had to experiment and push themselves to discover just what they were capable of. "Can't say I have but I'd be willing to give it a shot."

Finn's suggestion of a distraction helped ease the strong mutant's nerves on the matter. He definitely agreed with the call. It probably wasn't advisable to have himself launched at a sentinel that was prepared for it.

Fortunately for Lachlan, both Eden and Bella stepped up as volunteers for the distraction portion of their plan. Knowing the two members of the alphas he'd come to know best thus far had his back certainly helped reassure the strong mutant that their plan would succeed. Meanwhile Finn had requested a lift from either Aurelie or Colin. He wasn't one hundred percent certain what the man's plan was but he seemed competent enough that Lachlan had faith he wouldn't do anything overly rash.

Worry seemed to be the common theme of the day and it was practically palpable the way Alex, Aurelie, Bella and Eden all seemed initially hesitant of their plan to dispatch the sentinel. While Lachlan was certain he might be able to give it a couple decent hits, he wasn't sure how effective they would prove in the end if these things were able to heal themselves. For now he would stick with Marcel and Finn's plan. Hopefully they could disable the sentinel permanently or at least long enough they could assist their other comrades.

"Alright," Lachlan said to Marcel jokingly as he positioned himself at the best angle provided by the distraction of the others, "I'm ready for blast off whenever you are." It hardly seemed dignified but he wasn't above taking another one for the team. He just hoped being catapulted into the machine wouldn't hurt as much as taking an energy blast from it would.

August nodded, “Take’s a lot of force to do that, blondie.” He grinned at Gabe before the sound of Wraith’s voice dragged at his attention. He tried hard to roll his eyes. “No s**t, Sherlock,” he said matter-of-factly. It was pretty clear what their design was. However, they were robots, not humans or zombies, and it just so happened that they got lucky about where the CPU was stored. Could have been kept in their robotic a** cheeks for all they knew.

It idea of Gabe having to shoot robots in the a** was a funny thought, at least. However, the shadow manipulator seemed to move on without them and the sound of a very unwelcomed voice made August want nothing more than to push inside. Gabe brought his attention to the sentinel as August made the mad-dash forward, getting the door opened up for the others with a twisted mesh of metal robots.

Dimitri, Gabe, and Wraith seemed to all join up with him after the Sentinel seemed to stop moving. His eyes swept over the production floor and he felt like he had to swallow down his heart as it tried to claw its way out of his throat. He had no idea that there would be this many sentinels, large or small, in a single facility. SHIELD wasn’t bluffing.

There was a voice behind them and August’s heart was definitely no longer in his throat. He looked over his shoulder when he heard Dimitri try to make sense of what was happening. The production floor boomed to life and it was almost as if an earthquake was moving through the building in waves.

Dimitri’s voice almost woke him from the shock as he bolted at the order. He dove away from the incoming blast. He took cover from the blasts and leaned against the wall he was hiding behind. “Right.” He said back to Dimitri. Without getting to the Mold, they weren’t going to be able to stop s**t. He slowly stood from where he was crouched down behind the wall.

“Don’t burn yourselves out. We ain’t going to be worth s**t if our firepower is down for the count.” Now was as good of a time as any to try something new. “If I can bubble it, maybe I can bring a strong enough gravitational pull in so any blast it throws will just be sucked back into itself.” His finger left the comm as he brought his brain around to try to mentally prepare walking out in front of a ******** sentinel.

With a deep breath, August stepped out from behind his hiding spot and threw an invisible bubble around the sentinel as the thing raised to do another blast. He pulled, the blast shooting towards him before it slowed gradually a few meters away before it seemed like time reversed and it was pulled back towards the source of the blast. He held the bubble, the gravity pulling in was strong enough to make his feet start to slide across the floor and towards it. “If you ******** can start running, now would be a good time.” Blast after blast that was fired was sucked back into the sentinel. They only had so much time before the thing changed its attack plan.

Well, so much for listening. Luci retreated to her bed when the man disappeared from her view. She ate slowly, tasting food for what felt like the first time in a very long time. It wasn’t real food. But processed food was better than what she had been given for the last few months. She was severely malnourished already, what was the worse that could happen if she ate a snack-size bag of chips.

He returned once again finally and had someone with him. Her eyes watched the pair as she ate, finishing off the bag and sucking the flavored dust off of her fingers in a way that only memory had told her to do. They talked about his choice of food when given to her and she blinked slowly. Why did it matter?

Finally, the attention was back on her and she felt small in comparison. She was. But she was also almost starving. The girl stuck her hands through the bars. Not between them, through them. Once she was satisfied with the result of her experiment, she walked through the cage that had made Luci feel like nothing more than an animal for a while.

The girl seemed to accept her reaction when the hand was reached toward her. She stated that they couldn’t touch. Not skin-to-skin. It was too dangerous. She cleared her throat, swallowing down any remaining doritos. “Lucianna. My name is Lucianna.” She hadn’t said it in so long. She had been referred to as nothing more than a number. A code. When she first came here, she remembered screaming her name back at her captors in defiance, but it wasn’t long until she broke and gave up.

She looked down at her open palms. “Poison.” Her fingers curled into her first and she looked back up at the girl. “What is your suit made of?” She asked tentatively. “If it is water resistant… We can make it through the bars.” She slowly stood, testing her weight on her own weakened legs. Before she even got into position behind the girl, someone else appeared.

She flinched at the appearance of metal, scooting away from the bars. “G-Go away…” She said quickly without thinking before her eyes went to the other two. They were not afraid, so it must have been another mutant. Not a sentinel. Not one of her captors. “He… Tried pulling. And pushing… There are others. I’ve seen them… Further down. Help them.”

She had never spoken to the others that were captured with her, but she was sure that there were others that were alive. They had to be. She wouldn’t accept that she was alone. Finally, she touched her hands to the woman’s shoulders, careful not to brush against her neck or hair. Not too close to her skin. She closed her eyes tight, trying to stay as calm as possible before she moved with the redhead. When her eyes opened, they were no longer looking through the cell. She was outside. She was free.

Her hands came off of the woman so fast it was almost like it burned her palms just touching her. But she had to sever the connection as fast as possible. “We need to help the others…” She looked at the two men and the woman around her.

                                      Sentinel Base

Something picked her up rather roughly by the scruff of the neck and reflective eyes snapped open at the invasion of her personal space. She hissed and howled, back legs kicking at her attacker, without even trying to figure out who it was. Katerina knew who it wasn’t, just by scent, and thusly didn’t care. He or she deserved every scratch she could deliver. After a few minutes of struggling she was finally able to bury the furious cat mind and she found herself blinking owlishly at the Headmaster. His visor gleamed in the light and she released a pathetic meow when he realized he’d gotten through to her. Slowly, the man set her down.

“Why were you sleeping in the landing gear?”, Cyclops demanded, thoroughly distracted with the sounds of fighting going on not far away. He had a specific task for the Ex-Hydra soldier. Infiltration was her specialty, a rarity, in a group of people that tended kick the door in. “You could have been killed.”

Katerina could feel the ground she stood on almost vibrating with his irritation as she stretched, back arching, before she began to detransform. It was the most unnatural thing, the sound, and sight of bones crushing and clicking back into place. “Because your Alpha’s get -airsick- and my nose can’t take it.”, she growled out through the maw of a feline, twisting, and bending until she could stand up straight.

                                      “I hate you.”,
she muttered, before looking around, gunmetal blue eyes still a little too green. She’d been in the body of a cat for the entire flight. She wore the sleek one-piece X-Men uniform that let her change not just her own attributes, but the inorganic material that she wore, giving her the ability to make a flawless replica.

Cyclops didn’t respond but handed her a standard issue Academy handgun. It was a Sig Sauer P320 with the smallest handgrips available. She assumed it to be a 9mm without even asking. “What am I supposed to do with this? I mean, I could throw it at a Sentinel, but a rock would do just as well.”

“Armor-piercing rounds.”, the Headmaster responded dryly, seeming to completely and deliberately miss all attempts at humor. “It should go through. But, if you do your job right, you shouldn’t need it.“

“And here I thought those were illegal for handguns in ‘Murica.”, she responded, voice heavily accented, but Katerina gave ole’ one-eye a dark look and kept the weapon regardless. If she placed it in the holster on her uniform it might come with her for a short transformation. Maybe. She remembered what her parameters were. Help find imprisoned mutants, and humans, and set them free. It was the same task that she’d had with the Alpha’s in a failed mission not long ago. Piece of cake.

The Italian woman stayed near to Cyclops as they made their way into the facility in the wake of the rest of the Alpha’s. They’d sure trashed the place up. Katerina kept the gun at the correct level and her arms were angled just right. They crossed the remains of smaller Sentinels but it wasn’t until they saw a fully grown, seriously ticked off metal monster, activated not far from a group of Academy Students that her blood ran a little cold. She hadn’t been much use against one of these the last time.

                                      “I’ve got this.”
, Cyclops spoke to Katerina, the grim angle of his jaw telling more than words. “Move out, Kali. You know what to do.

At first, seeing a flash off starlit blonde hair, she hesitated. Aurelie. But as the Headmaster approached the group, his hand raised to his visor, Katerina began to back away. He looked like he was talking into his comm—probably sending out a warning. Aurelie, she told herself, would be fine. If anyone could keep an eye on her precious ballerina it was the man who could blast off the side of mountain without thinking twice.

The last thing she saw before splitting off to the left was a bright red, screaming optic blast, slam right into the side of the Sentinel outside of the building.

For you not to overshare.” Aren replied back through the lavatory door, obviously unhappy with the details Daylia decided not to keep to herself. “Duh.” She smirked as she came out of the small room that barely could be considered a closet, and Aren held his breath, hesitant to breathe in whatever noxious fumes might still be steaming from the toilet. Looking down at her feet, he half expected toilet paper to be stuck to her shoe.

Aren caught her up to speed on the cell he’d found with a pretty girl inside. Shaking his head at the thought of electricity, he gave a sigh of relief. She’d be able to rescue her, as he had promised. “No sparks got me for slipping in.

She made an awkward motion to suit up, and Aren paused momentarily as he gaped at her mask. “Did you mean…?” He trailed off, dimples prominent in his cheeks as he silently answered his own question. Of course she wanted a derpy mask. It was just her. “Nevermind.

He motioned for her to follow him off the jet, and immediately grabbed his sides from laughing as Daylia caught sight of her best friend’s addition to the field. He mentioned that the speedster had dubbed himself as the inspiration, and her response garnered an even wider smile. “What’s wrong with Felix?” Switching channels to the man in question, he sniggered into the comm. “Don’t get any ideas with Ms. Georgia Peach there… her usual partner in crime does not approve. And I’m pretty sure she’d try to rip your heart out.

Her sound of disgust only caused his sides to ache even more. “He’s really not that bad… it’s all for show, I think.” He said, not mentioning the fact that it probably wouldn’t happen anyway, what with Raine usually taking up the man’s time.

It didn’t take nearly as long to find the girl in the cell this time, as the cracked plastic casing to the alarms basically made a trail right to her. Immediately, his fellow Omega sucked in a breath as she took in the conditions that the girl lived in, anger coloring her voice as she asked when they’d stop treating mutants like animals. His own sentiments echoed her own in his heart, but his took sadness instead of fury. They would never be understood.

Luckily, the snack pack of Doritos in the girl’s hands distracted Daylia from her darker thoughts. And native just shook his head, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “The Funions are back on the jet. Just leave the big bag of Tacos at Midnight alone. They’re taped under my chair.” He said, before pointing to the little belt loop on his quiver, for where his snacks usually went. “Who goes into a mission without some sort of sustenance?” He asked with bright chocolate eyes, bewildered. She asked if he wanted to be her battle buddy in the future, and he grinned.

This plan had merit. AND, without Dom to disqualify him now, he definitely needed a new out. “One condition. You make me invisible during simulations so that I don’t actually have to train.

Suddenly remembering that they were here for a purpose, Aren pointed at Daylia and gave a friendly smile to the dark-haired girl in the cell, clearly happy with himself for being able to be a beacon of hope to some prisoner. Puffing up his chest with pride when Daylia slipped through, he didn’t deflate until the molecular manipulator called him a rooster. “Eagle.” he said, pointing to the beak on his mask. “Chickens aren’t nearly as majestic.” He said with a little pout to his voice.

Lucianna seemed hesitant to latch onto Daylia when she offered a hand, requesting no skin to skin contact. Daylia of course asked what would happen, and the size shifter leaned in, as though it were a great secret not to be revealed. “Oh the suits are something one of our senior members devised. It should be okay. They all adapt to our abilities.” He assured her.

That was when Roland came in from behind them, asking for the situation. Luci nearly panicked, and Aren waved off her fear. “Relax, this one is one of us too.

Just this one.” Aren said in response to the armored mutant’s question, doing his best not to roll his eyes when the man tried to pry the bars apart. Obviously, he wouldn’t have gone all the way back to the jet by himself to get the girl who excused herself from the mission before anyone disembarked if that had worked. The girl, Lucianna, said he’d already tried that, and native nodded. “I tried at 12 feet tall. Nothing budged.” He said, figuring that Roland would be able to get the idea that even with modified strength beyond what normal humans could do, he’d gotten nowhere.

Chameleon here is our best option.

Luci mentioned others, and his chocolate eyes followed her gaze. No doubt more people would be beyond this room. “Do you know how many there are?” Switching his comm back to the Omega’s team line, Aren alerted the team.

One hostage has been found. We’ll be taking her back to the jet. She has mentioned more… so be careful about blowing the building to smitherings before we get them all out. Especially you, cowboy!

Looking over to Roland, he let his gaze trail back over toward the door they hadn’t opened yet. “Wonder if that one is locked.

((Got the assignments done. So, here’s my post to try and get things moving. Hope it works.))

After Aurelie helped Finn and Colin, Lachlan saved the day. However, his antics got him hurt. He acted like he was fine. Yet, she could not see how he was when he took lasers to his body like that. Lachlan reassured her again and she sighed softly. “Well, let us hope you warming up like that does not become routine.” Anything to keep her from worrying over a friend.

Wraith spoke in Latin and she tried to translate it for the sake of knowing what he was talking about. Unfortunately, she could only be sure of one of the words. “Seems like it.” She didn’t think Wraith speaking in a foreign language was going to help team-playing. That was for sure.

Marcel asked how they were and she answered for them, a bit reluctant about the status of Lachlan. She would try her best to believe him but only to a point. For last time she checked, he wasn’t born an immortal or someone that could regenerate from their wounds quickly. Let alone heal themselves. She could not linger on that though with four of their team members having pressed on into the facility (Wraith, Gabriel, August, and Dimitri). She could only hope they would be alright.

For a brief time, she got distracted by the sound of someone signing in a foreign language. She couldn’t stop herself from wondering what that was about. “I guess so.” Unlike with the Latin though, she honestly had no way to make sense of any of those words.

Unfortunately, the levity was short lived. A booming voice caused her body to tense and for her to lose her breathe. “Oh no.” Just their luck honestly. Even with the Sentinel being inside the compound, it sounded like it was right next to her with how loud it had been. Alex nodded to Aurelie’s words. “We have no choice.” She remarked before noticing the fog starting to recede.

Her skin paled, if possible, at already seeing what was beyond the disappearing fog due to her enhanced vision. “As if we needed more problems.” She spoke out loud with meaning to in a bit of a whine. Aurelie’s question caused her to frown. “I am sorry I….do not know. I should have been more vigilant.” To think everything around her to caused her to miss something that massive. She really felt useless right then.

Just then, Dimitri started to speak through the communicator. His message got cut off though causing her to frown more. “What is going on?” She asked even as Aurelie tried to contact Dimitri. No answer though she presumed. Aurelie asked her if she saw anything. She took a deep breath, doing her best to ignore the voice of the Sentinel outside for now. Clearly it had spotted them. Aurelie’s shields gave them time to figure things out as she tried to see if she could see anything.

She let the conversations fade to the background about a safe route. All so she could allow her vision to take on a different form. It took her a bit of effort to adjust to being able to see through the walls. Everything appeared black and white with metallic structures and bone structures being all she could for sure make out. Such was the way X-ray vision worked.

“While I cannot confirm who is who, I do see one of the large Sentinels up and moving about in there. I see four human people nearby that Sentinel and looking to be moving about either to attack or get away with it. I can only assume it is Playboy and the others.” Her head started to pound a bit and she allowed her enhancement to change back to a more normal like vision. “The communication could have been cut off due to them having to deal with the Sentinel.”

Finn spoke through the communicator. He acted quite calm and composed. Was he used to being in such situations? She didn’t know him well enough to say. But, he did have a point. They had plenty of human-sized Sentinels to deal with out here. If none of them took care of the immediate threat, then there would no way they could help Wraith and the others inside the facility. “Acknowledged.” She spoke back through the comm.

Bella spoke through the comm and mentioned things she had forgotten. The ability of some of these machines to self-repair and adapt. She tensed a bit at the human-sized sentinels around them. “Does that mean these units could do that?” Alex honestly hoped that wasn’t the case. Even if it would be a pain for the larger more terrifying ones to have such capabilities, they weren’t getting swarmed by those kinds right now. The idea of all the broken human-sized ones coming back to life at any moment made her heart race.

Alex heard Marcel suggest throwing Lachlan at the enemy? That was one way to distract herself from her racing thoughts. She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head. How would someone with super strength handle being thrown into a metallic machine? Not having the power herself, she couldn’t know if the power came with durability as well if Lachlan happened to hit the robot wrong. She could only hope if they did go through with this plan that Lachlan was prepared for potentially having a massive headache or body aches.

She jumped slightly at hearing Eden speak in protest of the idea. When had she gotten there? She did her best to relax herself quickly from the shock. “At least I am not the only one uncomfortable with this idea….” A frown showed on her face. “Makes me really wonder if this is a good idea.” She admitted, even though she wasn’t sure how much her opinion really mattered. Aurelie mentioning her shields still possibly being not enough of a cushion or at least implying that did not help. As if to give more reason for the plan to be bad.

When Finn agreed to the plan and even suggested a distraction, Alex swallowed a bit. “I am not going to be helpful in either department…” She frowned and spoke softly to herself. But, it looked like the plan was going on ahead whether she liked it fully or not. Then again, not like she had any better ideas coming to mind. Ugh. The dilemma of being someone that couldn’t just create projectiles or something like that.

What surprised her a bit was Bella going along with the plan. Did she know something about Lachlan that she did not? It was possible considering Bella was the team leader. Just since when did the team leader decide throwing people was the best plan? She sighed softly and kept all that to herself. Now wasn’t the time to be questioning with nothing to suggest better in return.

Eden went along with the distraction as well. But, from her previous words, Alex knew it wasn’t from a place of total agreement with the plan. At least Eden could be described as a team player. Aurelie looked to be lifting Finn up into the air and allowing him to be a part of the distraction as well. She sighed softly to herself. “I will just….keep an eye on the smaller ones….” She tried not to sound upset with herself as she went back to playing scout with her enhanced vision.

Scouts did have their use after all…right?

As Lachlan prepared himself to be launched by being beside Marcel, her eyes widened at something coming towards the Sentinel. “Siren and Vega. Move away from the Sentinel.” Her enhanced vision allowed her to see Cyclops’ attack as he fired it from his eyes. From the angle, she guessed it would come closer to them than to Finn. She watched the laser hit the side of the Sentinel, causing it to be briefly stunned and look about as if trying to find the source of the attack. “That is one way to distract a machine.”

Did that mean they also had the Headmaster helping them? She wasn’t sure, but an experience X-men’s help did sound nice right about now. “I just hope this works….” What would happen when Lachlan got thrown towards the Sentinel? Would they even be able to take it down even if the plan seemed successful? What with the Sentinel’s potential ability to self-repair and adapt and all? She took a deep breath and started praying to whatever might be out there for success.
