 Death is becoming a recurring theme of late. It taunts her. If she is to die, it will be in a fight or ignoring the need for rest. She runs until she is empty and then pushes herself further. There is nothing healthy about it and while she is far from ever giving up, the idea to be done--oh, to rest and leave this all behind... It has ample appeal. But it isn't in her nature to lie down; she tries, she always gets back up. Thoughts do not help and she buries her nose into the space between her forelegs. She has not eaten enough today and now her stomach gnaws in time with the beating of her heart. An ache begins to blossom behind her left eye; it will be a rough night. The only thing certain is that she will dream, eventually. She wonders if she will die once more for she deserves no less or if for a brief, fictional, stop in time she'll be more. A dry chuckle puffs out between her lips as she falls into slumber.

She wakes into a world of blood and snow. The world around her seems to be painted in scarlet but her eyes fall on the white minibear that's fur has been streaked with the red of blood and the brown of what has dried. Its eyes are soulful and reach into her own; she sees herself in this creature. Of course she never would have been allowed to be seen this way. Mother was too perfect for that. She rises up and takes hold of a branch of berries nearby. Laying it down near the cub piques its interest but it is still too far away to see what might be wrong. This type of creature is rare; she knows she has heard rumors about them but she has no idea what of it is true. Berries--blueberries to be precise--are liked but not enough. The creek-fed pond is a mess of colors as new water rushes in and gravity begins to pull it out into a brook. There are, however, fish and she decides to try her luck there. It turns out that catching a fish is easy; its getting out without breaking her neck that is hard. A shrub of blackberries is her next offering. Unfortunately a stinging nettle grows along side it and she ends up more than a little stung in her foray. And while the bear again likes berries... She's tries something different, veering away from food. They say bears are curious creatures so she uses items to build a nest of sorts.
