April, 2018 Student name: Lailah Prompt: stop spreading germs Response: Stopping the spread of germs! This would be an easy assignment! Or at least easy if Lailah actually took the time to think about it. Instead, it took her longer that it would most other students because her mind wandered too much and too often. It was only after a few minutes that she actually began to write on the paper.
"One must make sure, if they are to sneeze and they cannot stop it, to either sneeze with a face-mask on, or in their elbow, and make sure to wipe their hands afterwards. Also, one must not actually make contact with the water fountain head. That is gross, along with the gum that is continually left there. There's a trashcan right next to it. Of course, one must also make sure to wash their hands after handling dirty things, such as toilets or dirt. And if possible, make sure to stay home when one is sick! Better to isolate yourself than spread it to everybody!"

May, 2018 Student name: Vígdís Prompt: stop spreading germs Response: Vígdís stared at her desk and narrowed her eyes to a squint. This was a stupid assignment and she didn’t think they should bother with it. But she knew she had to get this over with. Sooner finished, sooner out of class. She started writing a response to the teacher’s question. ‘Germs are everywhere. They’re on the things we touch, in the air we breath, even in the food and drinks we have. It’s always a good idea to wash your hands after going potty, and make sure you clean them if you sneeze or cough on them. Clean up the counters and door handles and other things we touch. My dad says anything that looks like it might be gross probably has germs and is best to not touch without gloves. So don’t touch gross stuff and always wash your hands.’
May, 2018 Student name: Meadow Prompt: stop spreading germs Response:
Meadow sat in class, staring at her teacher. They were learning about germs and how not to spread them. She felt that it was pretty obvious that if you wash your hands with warm soap and water that it can reduce your chances of getting sick. Her mama and papa taught her and her siblings that a long time ago. They also told her that not touching her face and coughing in her elbow will also reduce the spread of germs. Not all germs are bad though. Not that she remembered anyways. Raising her hand she explained exactly what her parents had told her but also added not sharing drinks or utensils as well and make up. Her mom had made sure to ingrain that into her head... even if meadow never planned on wearing such trivial things.

May, 2018 Student name: Saffron Prompt: stop spreading germs Response:
Saffron sat quietly in the class room as the class discussed colds and germs. It was an interesting topic to her. Were all germs back? If so, why isn't there medicine to get rid of them? When her teach asked for them to come up with ways to not spread germs, she thought of the most basic one... well in her eyes, don't have germs would be the most obvious one. She thought about washing hands frequently and sneezing in a tissue rather than on your siblings. She cracked a small smile at the thought of sneezing on her annoying, pesky siblings. There were definitely other ways.. hand sanitizer and keeping your hands to yourself were a few more she could think of. Oh! Or never leaving your room or the house. Yup, that one was her favorite.
May, 2018 Student name: Quentin Prompt: Archery, like a shot in the dark! Response:
When Quentin walked into class, he definitely didn't expect to be doing archery. Wasn't that dangerous? He certainly hoped none of his bullies were in his class. He first watched closely, noting how his instructor stood and released the arrow. His eyes widened some, unsure if this was realistically something he could do. Shyly, he moved over to the line in front of the target. He wished Aedre was there to calm him... he was one of the only other people that could do that for him. Sighing softly, he looked at the target and drew his string back with the arrow. He could do this... right? He took a slow breath before slowly exhaling as he released his arrow... He watched as it soared across the class and hit the target. It was so close to the middle! He didn't think he'd actually be able to hit the target... let along be close! He smiled brightly, excited to have something to talk to Aedre about after school. He may even mention it to his siblings and moms too!
May, 2018 Student name: Wade Prompt: Archery, like a shot in the dark! Response:
Wade watched in horror as his classmates picked up the bows for class. Archery? Really? How was this health or PE!? He'd never done anything like this before.. It was unsettling to him that it was alright for untrained students to just willy nilly fling arrows around. When his teacher handed him a bow, he had tried to get out of the assignment... close to begging. He sighed, defeated as he moved to look at the target.
Nervously, he pulled the string back... his teacher helped him into the proper position since he hadn't been listening or paying attention. He released the arrow, watching it land directly in the middle of the target. He stared at it in complete shock... He hit the target. He really did.. Hey, it didn't hurt him either... and it was even a little fun. He smiled brightly as he realized that he hit the bullseye... the middle! Not many other students were able to do that! He smiled again, proudly... glad he was forced to join this activity.
May, 2018 Student name: Cyril Prompt: Archery, like a shot in the dark! Response: Please write a short IC post about how close (or not) they got to the bulls-eye. There's no wrong answer!
Archery? Cyril fretted and worried throughout the teachers explanation, unable to really focus on what they were saying. Much to his embarrassment, they flickered, his worry exposed for all to see. He hated the PE uniform, it showed off far too much of his skin and more importantly his glowing patches and why did they have to wear something like this where everyone could see . . .The teacher lightly touching his shoulder broke him of the circular track his thoughts had begun to swirl in and his cheeks warmed with embarrassment even as he murmured a thanks that the teacher probably didn't hear.
Embarrassed at having been caught in his thoughts, he hardly paid attention to the bow he was handed. Pointing it vaguely in the direction of the targets, he glanced to make sure he wasn't going to hit anyone and then sent the arrow flying. The teacher had already said that this wasn't going to be graded based on how close to the bullseye you got, so long as you tried. Holding his breath, he flinched when he snapped the bowstring against his arm, glancing at the target as he rubbed the sore skin. Seeing the arrow buried in the target, even if it was just in the outer ring, was a relief. Tension seeped from his body and he gladly handed the bow off to the next student in line. Not exceptional and not horrid, just where he wanted to be.
What to do:
Roll a 10 sided dice. The closer you get to 10, the closer you are to a bulls-eye. If you roll a 1, you missed the target completely. You only get one shot. This is a learning exercise, so you can't fail. You can just do horribly

May, 2018 Student name: Jane Prompt: stop spreading germs Response:
Germs. A shiver went down Jane's spine. One of the reasons why she refused to touch anyone but Lilly, if she could help it. How would someone stop them from spreading? Weren't they everywhere? Each time she wanted to put a rock in her mouth it was always "Don't touch that!" coupled with "That's germy, don't stick it in your mouth!" She couldn't understand why it's so bad. But it had to be if all adults were getting after her.
She frowned and tapped her pen on the paper. So how could she stop it? She grinned before writing 'Everyone should wash rocks before playing with them.'. Perfect. There was no way to get sick if they were washed!

Pepper paid close attention to the teacher, trying to really get it down. Out of all the sports they could have done, archery really seemed interesting. She'd always been kind of jealous of the older students getting to do archery and now she got to try it out on her own. Taking a deep breath, she accepted the bow from the kid in front of her. Poor geist had snapped his wrist shooting but still managed to get in the target. Taking a deep breath, she turned her arm to make sure she didn't make the same mistake. Drawing the bow back was harder than she expected. Exhaling slowly, she released the string and watched as the arrow nicked the target and flew off behind it. Sighing, she handed the bow off to the next nightmare in line. She'd hoped to do much better, especially for her first time trying it, but she supposed it was to be expected not to do well at something on your first try.

May, 2018 Student name: Soren Skye Prompt: Archery, like a shot in the dark!

Soren accepted the bow, after being nudged with it twice, from the demon ahead of them. They felt certain that they had done archery a couple years ago. Just the once, for class. Their stance had been just so. . and the string had fallen like this. Last time they had managed to get in the inner ring, so they should just. . mimic what they had done then and they would get the same results. Except. . they couldn't remember just how they had done it. Had it been like this. . .or like this? Lost in their memories, they weren't quite sure when they released the string, but they caught sight of the arrow hitting the ground and bouncing up to thwap against the target. Well, that wasn't the desired result.
March, 2018 Student name: Magdalene Prompt: stop spreading germs Response: How do you stop spreadin' germs? Why, that was simple."Always wash your hands before eatin' or touchin' your lips." she rocked on her heels. "That's what ma and pa always say." The dryad knew well that she couldn't eat before she was able to get some soap and water on those hands beforehand. "That way the germs don't get inside your body." She sniffed. "Altho if it's those pesky allergens it won't work." At least, that's what she was told. It seemed true. Because even tho she dutifully washed her hands, every day, sure enough, she'd get a terrible sneezin and overall not good feelin' during spring.

March, 2018 Student name: Tirishi Prompt: stop spreading germs Response: Tirishi bit his lip, as he considered the question. Germs were on lots of things, like toilets and stuff. They were kind of scary, but important to know about, and kind of cool, too. Finally he lifted his head and softly said "You can take things you're going to cook with and wash them really well... Boil them even... to help kill of germs that might have gotten on them while you had them stored. Lots of germs don't like high heat! I remember that from class."
March, 2018 Student name: Shiva Prompt: stop spreading germs Response: Shiva tilted his head, and considered his options. He never wanted to risk getting his siblings sick! Daddy would be sad if they were sick, and Shiva would cry if it was his fault. So he had to make sure he knew what to do. He nodded and said "Never share a drink or dishes with someone who's coughing or sneezing, or you know is sick. They could spread the germs to you, and then you might spread them to others! And don't offer to share if you're sick, either. Then you're just being the one to make other people sick, and that's not nice!"

June, 2018 Student name: Habushu Prompt: Swimming lessons Response: Habushu looked at the water uncertainly, fur puffed out as far as it could go. Shu’s uncertainty was clearly read in his body language as he took several steps carefully into the pool. He stood still as the water soaked into his fur, flattening the lower half of his puffed out state. Now he just looked silly and his ears folded back as he became irritated with himself. It was just water. It wasn’t going to hurt him, even though he instinctively wanted to hiss at it and keep his fur puffed out.
He huffed and forced himself to continue further into the water, now it was up to his lower chest. It wasn’t so bad now and the water was unexpectedly warm, He splashed around a bit, enjoying the feel of it. Definitely not as bad as having to take a shower. The floaties that the teacher had insisted he wear were irritating for him because it felt like they kept getting in his way, but since he’d never swum before he knew he needed them. His tail, now soaked fully, dragged the bottom of the pool and he kept having to move around so the other freshlings wouldn’t step on it.
Shu waded out further into the water, getting close to the 5’ mark of the pool. He felt a little nervous, and if his fur hadn’t been soaking wet, it’d be puffed up again as he moved along. Eyeballing the wall of the pool he decided it might be a good idea to cling to the edge for a bit while he swished his legs around. He quickly grabbed ahold and crab walked against the wall, back and forth between the 5’ mark and the 5’5” mark. He didn’t want to go any further in then that, 6’ sounded too scary right now.
Finally he decided to let go of the wall, around the 5’ 3” mark, and copied some other freshlings in what they called the doggy paddle. It took a lot of effort, and he kept feeling like his head was about to go under, but the floaties did their job, keeping his head above the water when combined with the doggy paddling. Soon he grew tired of this though, and stared back to the shallow end of the pool to climb the steps and perhaps dry off a bit.
Shu grabbed a towel from the pile that the teacher had brought for all the students. He shook himself out, droplets of water flinging everywhere from his soaked fur before he wrapped himself in a towel and sat down to watch everyone else swimming. He eyed his tail, which looked especially soaked wet, debating on grabbing another towel just for it. He shrugged and left it along after some thought though, what if the teacher had only brought just one towel for everyone, that meant he’d be taking someone else’s towel and they wouldn’t be able to dry off. This lesson had been very interesting, and he couldn’t wait to tell his parents that he’d started learning how to swim at school today.

June, 2018 Student name: Eirian Prompt: Swimming laps Response: Eirian stared at the pool and shivered with disgust. Thankfully they weren't afraid of water, they just didn't like being wet. It felt unnatural. The hybrid looked around to see if anyone else felt upset by the idea of swimming. Judging by the eager faces, Eirian was alone in their opinion.
"Fine," Eirian muttered under their breath. They stepped up to the edge of the pool and waited for the signal to go.
It was not a graceful entrance but it was the best Eirian was going to do. Balms had been provided to magically seal any wings to keep them from getting wet. It still didn't make the water anymore pleasing. Eirian pushed on, though, mostly out of spite. They would get a good grade for this lesson and never have to swim ever again.
The ideal had been 15 laps but already they could feel themselves tiring. Eirian grit their teeth and tried to keep going. Ten wouldn't be a bad number to stop at. That would be two-thirds of the way there. Eirian could live with that.
When Eirian's fingers touched the pool edge, however, they realized nine was where they would have to stop. They climbed out of the pool feeling defeated but glad it was over. They quick stepped it into the changing room to dry and get back into their clothes.
