"Oh, nonono!" Ayane fanned and flailed. "I mean the one about..." And here she had to lean in, pretending to dab some of the tea off Athena's lovely dress.
"I mean the ones about the--how do you say?--affairs our prince has been engaged in..." Oh boy... ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁x

The young maid stepped back, listening to Athena explain the situation, waiting for her inevitable outrage. Would it be silent, defeated? Would it come like the fury of a certain volcano no one has been able to stop talking about? Ayane braced herself for the latter.
"I'm sure it will work out alright," reassured the help. "After all, a country as rich and strong as this does not simply fold under a little intrigue; that much I have learned in my time here."

"Affairs? You mean his talks with other nobles on behalf of his republics council?" She asked softly, hoping to clarify what the young woman had said to her. In truth having been kept to the castle, she hadn't heard much about what her beloved was up to when away from her sight. Of course she smiled slightly at the reassurance the dear girl offered, giving a firm nod to agree. "Yes this kingdom is very strong and I am certain things will work out as well. It's just the not knowing for sure that is hard to take."

To this Ayane simply nodded in agreement; it was finished and seemed as though it occupied far less importance in the princess' mind when stacked against a certain--eh--domestic intrigue...
"N-No, mistress," said the phoenix forgetting her earlier correction with a sunset-y bow of the head. She lingered for a moment, twisting her fingers against the cold breeze flying by. "I'm afraid there have been talks," with added hesitation, "of infidelity." Surely she didn't want her lady to be upset; not in this condition! She bowed profusely.
"Ah! I'm sorry madam! I know this is terrible news; and I just would like to say I do not believe a word of it. Never never! Should I admonish those spreading such slander?" ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁Current EC: 50

Naturally her heart sank upon hearing the news, but thinking back to the time of the festival not that long ago, she breathed a sigh and smiled. "Yes please, but remember to keep quiet about the talks and my condition. We can't have things leaking out before it's too late to stop them." She murmured before sighing once more and looking up towards the sky. "Roland was here just last month during the festival. He stated right in front of myself and Aldon that he wants my hand in marriage and that his loyalty to me should never be questioned. I believe him in that and I trust in his devotion to our love. My Roland wouldn't leave me to raise our child alone and jaded, he would try everything to be with me... and if needed I would run away with him in a heart beat. Aldon knows this too, so things should be resolved." She said in a soft tone, though there was a little doubt still evident in her voice and the way she was standing.

Such conviction! Never had Ayane seen a couple so faithful to each other. Run from each other, perhaps; running away with another was a completely different world, and it was hard to tell if she was fit for the air there or simply holding her breath. Pink in the sun, face blasted by light and shock, Ayane counted how many times she wished she could know what Athena felt for hers; and then she wished it would come true that many times.
"I... I understand, Mistress Athena." Did she? She could fold clothes because it was simple to do so, but this seemed a little more--how do you say?--nuanced.
"You must really love that man from Bellris," she cooed, placing a hand over her budding smile. "I would do anything just to see such a thing bloom, I would... Let alone have it for myself." She let her pearlies show, giggling a little in the scale of the local avian population. There was a sudden halt. A deep, treacherous pause in between sounds reflected in the darkness in Ayane's eyes.
"--No, wait!" To flail was not frantic enough for the buffeting saws which were the young phoenix's hands. "That was not the right selection of--forgive me--I did not mean to imply..." ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁Current EC: 50

"Thank you." She cooed before looking down at her growing belly, a hand resting on it once again. Hearing Ayane talk about how she wished to find a love like what she had with Roland made her smile a little brighter, though the doubt she was hearing in the girls tone made her giggle lightly. "One never knows what the future may hold Ayane. Perhaps one day you will look up and see your beloved standing there, shyly hoping you would notice him. Then once your eyes lock with his, he will stroll over and ever so politely ask your name while calling you a beauty. After all you and your sister are pretty girls, so there should be no want of suitors coming your way. Plus you never know, we might find you both someone to adore." She said with a small, amused smile. Every word she had spoken was true, no one knew what the future held and the twins would surely find a lover of their own eventually. The questions were when and how it would happen, something not even a prophet would be able to predict.

Ayane was taken by the thought of it for a moment: some brawny, sweet bear of a man literally sweeping her off her feet, a brooding poet she might have to (get to) take care of, a rich nobleman... --and she didn't notice she'd put a hand on her cheek, rocking slightly side to side for just a moment after Athena had finished mapping this new world of hers so that some of those present in the court--those who might have been too comfortable or polite to do the princess the grace, maybe--took notice and began to chuckle amongst themselves.

She snapped out of it with a little yipe and checked side to side, becoming pinker still.
"Y-Yes, milady... That sounds lovely." It was as though she'd been woken up in the middle of the night with some urgent, perhaps dire, news, the look on her face. She reeled herself in, however, giving a soft bow. "I do enjoy this fantasy but... Who do you mean when you say 'we?'" Her hand came to a hips, forming an obtuse triangle. "Surely you do not expect me to go out seeking a husband when there is so much work yet to do..." ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁Current EC: 50

"By we I mean those of us within the castle of course. Myself, your sister, Sarah and so on will most likely try to help you get a lover, or at the very least make excuses for you when the time comes so that you may be with him for a little while." She replied with a smirk. She knew about Sarah's relationship with her brother Kaiden after all, and sometimes made the excuse of sending the head maid out simply to give a message to her brother. There was times she had made the message something silly like telling him to kiss the head maid and such. It was just her own little way of trying to help them get some time alone. "Work can be done by others as well Ayane. After all the castle has other hands to pick up tasks for those who are ill." She said with a shrug.

Ayane was beside herself. Was she always so lovely, so willing to help out? Such an interest in her happiness was beyond her understanding at the moment, and so the reasoning simply bounced around in her eyes as sparkles from the setting sun; unseen by herself, but no doubt recognised by everyone present.
Wait! The sun!
Ayane shook her head like a dog drying itself off. How could she have missed such an obvious thing? It was at this point, when Athena expressed that Ayane would not have to leave just yet, that the princess would be told via whisper that it was time for other business to be handled before supper.
"Ah, thank you thank you, Lady Athena!" Called the maid while bowing. "I'm looking forward to whatever you bring my way." And so the young phoenix scurried off into the night. Somewhere there was a cat who needed to be pet. ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁{Exit} Current EC: 50

"No thank you Ayane for spending a little time with me." She murmured before giggling a little and watching the young woman scurry off as quickly as possible. Once alone again she breathed a soft sigh and looked down at her still growing belly. "Maybe mommy should go lay down for a little bit...Your a strong little one to be sure." She cooed before making her way back towards her chambers.

Through the halls of stone castle and out to the grass where the sun bless and the coo for birds sing songs of peace and tranquility. With his lover on his arms Roland smiles bright and coos to Athena as they calmly make their way around the ground; The guards on the towers now calm to the sight of the so called traitor since there never was a danger posed to the princess (though some would still hate the prince for being with Athena in such a romantic way). "It has been too long since I could feel a peace like this. There is something about this place that isn't like my own lands and yet so much like home in itself." He then leaves a kiss upon Athena's cheek and says, "I wonder if there is a spell you've placed on me and my heart, you wickedly beautifully woman.A tease and a coo and they share the view and time, for now.

Once they arrived outside in the sunlight, Athena took a deep breath of the fresh air and sighed happily.
"The peacefulness here is always wonderful, but its the joy of the people that makes everything in Zalto light hearted and warm." She murmured while enjoying the feel of the sun on her face and the love of her life by her side. She only wished that such a thing could last longer, but until they were married and she finally living with him, this would have to suffice. Naturally she giggled at his little tease and returned the kiss to his cheek. "This coming from the handsome rogue who stole a princesses heart and virtue?Are you certain it was me who placed a spell on you, and not the other way around?" She asked playfully before resting her head against his shoulder and sighing contently.
"It feels like forever since we had last walked the grounds alone, I've missed it." She cooed, glad they were able to finally walk them once more even though he would likely leave for home come the morrow.

"I miss you everyday the sun shines and whenever it hides." And his words spoken were very much true; The dragon princess of light shining so brightly in his heart whenever and wherever he may be. "I have to say, I'm sorry I don't write or visit as much as I should. You know that if I could I would steel you away so I'd never have to miss you, and then keep you in my home to selfishly have and hold away from the eyes of the world." What a lovely world it would be if he could just pick up the earth itself and rearrange it as he please. He would only need to take a step outside to see the love of his life and there in between all that they know and hold dear to grow, together forever. "Tell me, my stolen princess, do you think ill of this rogue at all? Is there any moment where you see me as a true rogue and a thief or liar?" He wanted to know true if ever Athena did hold ill feelings to him for the way he isn't in her life the way he wanted. He wanted to know if there was something he could improve on so he may continue always saying that her love belongs to him and only to him no matter what.

It was one of his charms really and she had fallen for it just as she had done so for him as a man. Hearing his question however had her looking up at him and frowning slightly. "Many tried to instil doubt for you within my heart, but none succeeded. You have not once shown any reason for me to think ill of you my love. Yes I do wish to hear from you and see you more often then I do right now, but as such we must wait until it is time for that." She replied in a loving tone before carefully reaching up to kiss his cheek. "You have my love, my heart and my soul. I wish nothing more than to be by your side with our children as much as possible. I have pledged myself to you and no other shall change that fact Roland, for no other could ever make me as happy as the rogue standing beside me right now." She added with her usual secret smile that was reserved for his eyes alone. It was easy to tell that the time away from one another was taxing upon them both and that reassurance had been needed as well. So once again she carefully reached up to him, kissing his lips this time instead, letting her love for him be felt rather than heard.
