Juniper cringed when the other lady (Temperance) came storming over. Not that she particularly blamed her. Juniper had no clue about medical stuff as was obvious by her attempt to help Cataleen with paper towels and anything else she could find. Sewing the girl up had seemed like a relatively good idea but after being chastised she deflated.

The man with the heavy German accent turned on his heels and left with the other, much larger man who had volunteered to hold poor Cataleen down, after the bombardment. She turned to as the one person who seemed to have medical knowledge what she should do, but the woman was quickly running off to see another person who looked like they were possibly in a life and death situation.

Again, Juniper was left alone with Cataleen, and she still had no idea what she should be doing to help the poor girl. She wanted to help so badly, too.

Thankfully Cataleen gave Juniper something to focus her attention on. "Sure. That's not a problem at all. I can't really carry you, but lean on me as much as you need to and we'll get over there." She offered the girl an arm to help her up and to lean on as they slowly made their way over to Nurse Harris.

Pads. Holy s**t, he never thought he'd be so happy to see those things. (It reminds him of that one scene from She's the Man, where Amanda Bynes is passing off owning tampons as a great means of soaking up nosebleeds--)

Helping the other man lug the boxes out, Dawson quickly begins to pass out handful after handful of the stuff to those who were treating the injured. His large hands tremble, and he passes nervous smile after nervous smile to try and instill some hope. Good for wounds n' s**t, he says. She knows what I'm talkin' about, right? Yeah? Okay I'll shut up.

Connor and Temperance looked as though they were elbow deep in the impromptu wound care. He dared not interrupt them but gave them a large load of pads to help with the blood, if it could. "Gauze, y'all said? Uh, all I got here's toilet paper," he answered with a guilty look, leaving a roll nonetheless. Maybe they could get creative.

Afterwards, as he said a silent prayer for the wounded, he came across the woman holding a bloody bundle in her arms and crouched down beside her, gingerly holding out a pad. "Ma'am? Hold still, please, I can get some'a that mess cleaned up. You want some water?"

Nasir is a precious cinnamon bun off to ... do whatever it was he was going to try with the police and waved at the man who called out to him.

Trail Mix was not the strangest thing he had been called.

Considering the circumstances, Connor was frankly shocked that they had managed to keep the guy alive to this point. "You must be one tough son of a b***h." He muttered, moving his hands away when Temperance began to lay the dressings atop the now (mostly) uncovered and hopefully clean wounds.

While she worked on that, he oh so graciously accepted the offered supplies from both Ian and Dawson with a curt nod, only to utter, "Oh thank <********>, somebody around here has a brain." When Ian left, only to come back with some colourful plastic that would do to wrap Thorne's abdomen in a pinch, and a pinch they were certainly in.

"Ya ya, I got it, sweetheart." He responded to Temp's instruction with his usual grace and charm,

"Going to need to lift him, slowly, and gently, one side at a time, to get this underneath. Try not to jostle him." This, to Ian, whom he now entrusted in a time where he couldn't be picky about who assisted him.

He was able to work with a little less urgency now, knowing that they had done the best that they could, as he used the plastic to wrap Thorne's dressings securely in place.

There were more people. When had more people come? There was so much chatter. It filtered in one ear and out the ear, catching in Thorne's head like a radio crackling in and out. Why was it so hard to focus? He moved his head, trying to look at Rylan, but the pain in his neck reminded him how that decision was probably - hm - not smart.

A woman was saying something about no moving, no talking. They were there to - help? His eyes flashed to her, wild and fuzzing in and out of focus. He made a noncommittal noise in the back of his throat. Words seemed hard to form too, and made everything more painful. So he tried to obey - just obey.

There was a flash of red in his vision, and Thorne turned his head, a surprised, keening noise deep in his throat. "Aleksy?" The panic was raw in his voice.

But no, it couldn't be him. Aleksy was - hurt. Was he dead? No. Where was Lucas? Thorne hissed. He had no supernatural inclinations, he wasn't a ******** werewolf, but he wanted Lucas. He wanted his stupid florist. He wanted his brothers voice and Rylan to keep talking and everything to just stop hurting.

But they kept moving things and moving him. Thorne had never been a good bed-patient, even on pain meds. The wet gurgle was probably an attempt at swearing. Thankfully for everyone hovering around him, he really didn't get that far.

The elevator comes down to Alois, the doors sliding open smoothly. There is no option for the basement on the buttons inside, and judging from the shouts upstairs and the sudden deluge of bleeding, dying people, it's not a very wise move to go up. If he wants to go down, he'll have to use the ladder in the next shaft over.

Lara looks up from the bundled blazer. She blinks up at Dawson, and then looks down. "Okay," she says, lips barely moving.

Nasir proceeds outside. On the other side of the doors are two people in plastic suits, their faces covered by clear plastic shields. One of them investigates the hair on his face, on his arms, and looks to the other. There is a curt nod shared between them. "Hand, please," says the first, and she pricks Nasir's finger, takes a small swab of it and heads back to the cordon, plastic crinkling with the speed of her walk.

There is a short wait for results. The second doctor holds Nasir by the arm, not ungently. When the first returns, she is no longer wearing her face shield and is accompanied by eight people with body armor and terrifying guns.

Zac was now, having been forcibly escorted, on the first floor, He was not entirely thrilled, and that was an understatement.

He felt sick, it might just be blood loss but...

He fumbled in his pockets for his phone. He wondered if blood counted as water damage.

Still he typed out a hasty message to anyone on his friend list that he knew was upstairs.

He carried Autumn downstairs, the third woman he'd taken from the carnage, bloodied and beaten. Lucas held her close despite his own injury, only releasing her when he ran into some paramedics that insisted. The careful looks he got were waved off with a, 'It's prosthetic, like my arm,' before he continued into the throngs of people, red eyes scouring their multitudes.

"Zac? Maeve?" he called as he elbowed through some people, grabbing a hoodie from one of the job booths - some graphic design thing - and slipping it over his head with a wince. Lucas tucked his tail up as far as he could, the hood and his loose, bloodied hair covering most of his ears, looking, looking --

And there, like a monolith, was Rylan.

He had a brief moment of sheer terror before he remembered -- hello, your boyfriend is a firefighter, first response and all that -- limping over towards him and the other people that were surrounding someone. Lucas tried to keep a low profile, slightly hunched, the black hoodie doing a little to hide the fact he was still bleeding freely. There was relief in seeing the man there, his rock, the only beacon of sanity in the crazy whirlwind of his life. "Ry," he murmured, his voice a little wet. He turned his head to the side and spit -- blood, and his own to boot - turning back to try again, eyes lowering to the bundle of person they were trying to move. "Ryl--"

And he knew that bundle, he knew that man, the one that was bleeding too much, that was showing more chest cavity than he was.

His heart stopped. "Thorne?!" he cried out weakly, his voice threadbare and an echo of itself. "Is he stabilized?!" Lucas pulled his clawed hands out of the pockets of the hoodie and grabbed one of Thorne's, his red eyes looking raw with fear between his two, grappling with the unspoken question that he already knew the answer to, forgetting his own condition, forgetting the blood smeared on his face and soaking through his sweater's thick fabric.

"He will be if you don't jostle him and let the paramedics take him to the hospital." Temperance finished dressing Thorne's neck wound. It was a little unkind of her to be so sharp, but she was done with everyone getting in the way. She turned to wave down a paramedic, hoping that the sight of a girl in scrubs covered in blood was enough of an attention-getter.

She kept a careful eye on the new guy's hands. Wasn't that ******** weird? "Good job," she said to Connor and tarp boy. They'd gotten his wound covered and now Thorne could get real care. "Connor, can you grab a paramedic and take them around to some of the reds. There - red, and red, black." She pointed as she spoke - triage colors. Black was for the nurse, not even dead long enough for rigor mortis to set it, though it would soon, freeze her muscles as stiff as a board. They were just lucky most of the people wounded were only at green or yellow.

Finally, she looked at the guy holding Thorne's hand, really looked at him. And sighed. "Did you realize you're bleeding? Go get medical care before you end up in worse shape than him!" From the way it soaked through his hoodie, his wound was large or deep or both and she'd had enough of blood for one day. If he didn't go soon, Temperance was going to figure out a way to make him.

"He probably deserves a little jostling," Lucas replied in a slightly sullen manner, acknowledging the nurse's position and care. He really couldn't be upset; she was taking care of his Thorne. Even so, he could almost feel his ears lower, the air escape him with the gnawing remains of fear and a fleeting flicker of hope. Thorne would be okay. He could kick his a** another day.

He glanced to her only briefly, keeping his red eyes downcast as much as he could. "I'm aware, but I'm not dying." Yet. "I'll get help, Missus, I promise. Just -- let me have a small panic attack here first." He bowed his head over Thorne's hand, kissing the back of his knuckles. He'd somehow have to get Rylan away to see if the firefighter had any ability to stitch, as he wasn't sure going to a hospital in his...condition would be wise.

Thorne had slipped into some delirious non-dream, every sound and image too loud or colorful to make sense. He vaguely remembered this feeling from a long time ago, but wow - it sucked. And it wasn't any better than the first time it happened.

Oh, and it hurt to breathe. Actually it hurt to do anything.

Was it too soon to sleep?

Someone was speaking again, directly above him. How many more people were there? Thorne turned his head, the movement making his entire body prickle with the sensation of burning, burning, burning. Neck wound. Right. His eyes flickered up, one coated in blood, the other flaring in and out of focus.

"Lucas."

The name was wet and faint in his throat, a rasp of sound, half-questioning. Was this a fever dream? He tapped one of his knuckles against Lucas in a limp gesture before the man caught and held it.

The words seemed far away, hard to grasp. His own fingers curled, but not in anymore than a ghost of touch, against Lucas's. His tone was barely lucid, laced with some half-delirious tease. "You look like s**t." And then - with shock, and surprise, realization coming in a short burst. "You're bleeding - holy s**t who did this - " A keening noise followed, deep and angry.

But already, clarity was fading away from Thorne again. Now that Lucas was here, it was alright to sleep, right?

Temperance spoke above him and he looked at her now. "Thank you," he said, because that was what his addled mind wanted to say but couldn't form the words for. "Don't let him die, please." He's stupid. Which was the most hypocritical thought in Thorne's head. Thankfully, he didn't have the energy to say it out loud.

It occurred to him briefly that he didn't even know her name.

Oh well. Later. Later.

Someone tosses a blanket over Lucas, conveniently hiding his ears and animalistic countenance from the eyes of passing police officers. For now, anyway, that'll have to do.

Paramedics come to take over the direst cases as police officers in riot gear guard the stairs. They're listening to the recommendations of Shun and Jeremiah upstairs, but won't be for long.

Those who aren't too terribly badly off are being triaged on sight, checked for concussions and such. The particularly lucid ones are giving their statements.

It seems like it's over.

His eyes shot to Thorne's, leaning in despite the nurse's warning and pressing a kiss to the man's cheek. ********, he reeked of blood -- his own blood, blood Lucas knew by memories that were a lifetime away. It was real, it was really his, and it made the werewolf's throat tight, sick, as if he'd done it to Thorne. Might as well have, an angry and guilty part of his mind whispered to him. This happened because of what you are.

He swallowed with difficulty, both with unspoken words and the cloying drain of blood. "You're one to ******** talk," he murmured back, a lack of ice and sting in his voice, "and stop. Stop. It's being handled." A clawed hand smoothed over Thorne's brow, pushing his dark hair back, expression tight.

"I'm not going to die, and not before you -- and if you do die, I'm going to bring you back to life and murder you. So don't, okay?" The sound of his own voice made Lucas realize he was starting to unwind, the sound wavering and low. And slowly, the sadness in his eyes receded, his brows becoming neutral: the soldier put his emotions in a box, where it was safer for all of them. He could let it go later. He had so much to let go.

Clenching his jaw, he took in a deep breath and, with a great deal of difficulty, put Thorne's hand back in the make-shift gurney. "I'll see you soon," he promised with words weighted in certainty, "but you better behave or I'm keeping Millie -- " A blanket was thrown over him, and perplexed, he looked upwards at the drapery, tugging it off and staring at it blankly. What the ********? He turned to see who had done it, but it was enough of a pull that his chest reminded him he was still quite lacerated there. Grumbling, he draped it around his shoulders and covered the slick wet hoodie's front, hiding it from view, watching the man who meant so much to him with intent to stay near him as long as he could.

Zac moved quietly as he could over towards Lucas, hesitant to interupt. But he did at last reach out a hand to touch the man's arm.

"... Do you... do you know if..."

He let the question trail off, he wasn't sure what he'd even ask anymore.

Autumn had still not woken. For the jostling and jittering of Lucas carrying her, she did not stir. And yet... her wounds did not seem as bad as they had been. Her breathing was regular, even and deep.

Strange.
