Tamie was brought up in an 'alternative' home; his parents are always trying to be one with nature and ensure their impact on the planet is minimal. The young baphomet knew this was peculiar - his parents didn't isolate him from the outside world - but he was happy to be a part of it. He grew up vegan and as an environmentalist and hopes to maintain that lifestyle throughout his life. Tamie's parents were grateful their child embraced their way of life and was happy to form strong family bonds. He considered his parents his friends and was hesitant to leave the family home to attend school. They had encouraged him to read and learn as a child, but his Junior Science Set for Freshlings™ didn't seem like enough preparation. However, he had faith in his parents' support and - despite their offer to home-school him - made the leap to leave his loving environment for hours every day.
As they predicted, Tamie ended up loving the Academy. He got to learn something new everyday, and his perpetually delightful attitude earned him many friends. He naturally fell into the science club and loved immersing himself in that environment; surrounded by like-minded children who loved it all as much as he did. As he grew older, Tamie's love for hands-on science became more and more obvious, to the point where he topped any classes related to biology or chemistry. His parents were delighted, hoping it would indicate a future in environmental studies. As he grew into a senior, the young baphoment truly fit into the 'nerd' role, becoming heavily invested in board games and video games. They never distracted him from his classes, however, and he continues to excel.
Tamie hopes to pursue a career as a pharmacist or developmental chemistry research and, to get an early foot in the door, has taken up part-time work as a junior pharmacist. While his parents are more interested in natural cures and magic, they fully support their son in anything he chooses to do.

tamie expressed a desire for a friend to run around the yard with him and, conveniently, his parents knew a familiar breeder. they suggested a kidden for the young boy - playful, rambunctious and boundless in energy. tamie was thrilled to have someone to explore nature with him; named bloobs after her blueberry colouring. the two became quick friends, and tamie was devastated when he had to leave her home when he went off to school. every day bloobs would wait patiently at home for her friend to come home and that tradition stays to this day, even if the older kidden is a little less quick on her feet.

feeling lonely without bloobs, tamie decided to find a more manageable familiar to keep him company while he studied. after some research, tamie decided the friendly but low-maintenance fluffbug was the way to go. tamie fell in love with sparkles immediately; her gorgeous coat and playful demeanour was simply irresistible. the baphomet plays with his new companion every day and is eager to eventually allow her to meet bloobs - tamie is certain the two will get along well.

Verum was supposed to be an only child, but after she was born with many obvious mutations, her parents decided to wake another stone (which, to their horror, produced twins). Her parents didn't hate Verum for her mutations - although there was unpleasant speculation that the horns indicated the involvement of a chomp - but they were concerned about the implications. While there had, of course, been other mutated children in the Swamp, Veurm's mutations were more extreme than most. Due to the close-knit society of the shades, no one actively pushed Verum and her family away, but she suffered from constant, small harassment. This caused the young shade to develop a thick skin and laugh along with the jokes, cloaking herself with humour so she was in on the joke, rather than the butt of it. Sure she was a freak, sure she'd never fit in, but at least she was fun to be around with a sharp tongue. Another strange development in Verum's childhood was a small fascination in blood. She couldn't explain her interest, but it was something about the way it moved and its involvement with the body. Her parents insisted she keep this to herself, and Verum shrugged it away and obliged.
Verum was moderately content to stay in the Swamp with her family despite her constant curiosity of the world outside, but this would not prove to be her future. When she was a teenager, a stranger approached the Swamp with a personality disarming enough to have her accepted. She was a shade hybrid there to study their society, putting off some individuals but fascinating Verum. She found out the stranger's name was Clare and that she was a hybrid with a species the hallowed had never even heard of. They met occasionally, with Clare wanting to know how the shade treated their mutated members of society while Verum grilled her for information on Below. When Clare left - apparently in a scandalous way, spotted with a different mutated shade from an outside tribe - Verum's longing to leave the Swamp started to develop.
One day, Verum approached her parents with the big revelation that she wanted to leave. To her shock and amusement, they already guessed she had the desire to explore the world, and gave her their blessing to leave. She had little choice but to go to Asphodel as it was the only city she really heard about from Clare. When she arrived with her family's small fortune, she was taken aback by the extravagance of the city. She didn't know where to start but was confident that she'd have a wonderful experience. Verum quickly found Clare at the university she worked from and asked what opportunities there were for a mutated shade like her. The hybrid suggested her natural pull to blood could lead her to Leviathan university for hemomancy, although it was a rare and unusual study. Verum had never heard of the study before, but she knew immediately it was what she wanted to do.
Verum is currently studying at Leviathan - able to secure a place thanks to Clare's connections - putting almost as much effort into her studies as she is in forming a social network. Almost every night, the hallowed shade is delighting in the huge social circle in this new world.

the only popular familiar in the swamp were the bunyips, but verum had no interest in the bumbling oafs. the hallowed was thrilled to discover all the familiars in below and was naturally drawn to nezubats. they didn't like being kept in small cages, just like her. verum found hawke with the help of a local adoption agency and the two have been quick to form a bond. it's obvious hawke appreciates the freedom she's given and tends to fly off for days at a time, but verum knows she'll always return to her.
orsino.
verum found orsino on the way back from a club one night. the jackelope was battered and bruised - verum could just make out the fleeing shapes of larger familiars. clearly the jackelope had taken on a tough crowd, and verum respected that confidence. she would have been a monster to not help the familiar, and so she took orsino home and helped him recover. the jackelope - a mutant, like her - refused to leave verum's side after his recovery, and verum was more than happy to accommodation him. occasionally hawke and orsino get into scuffs, but verum is always there to calm them down and patch them up. familiars will be familiars, after all.

clare the hybrid that sparked the true flame for verum to want to explore the world. clare may not have spent too much time with her when she was in the swamp, but it was an important connection to gain so that verum could establish herself in asphodel. the hybrid got her a position in leviathan university and verum is grateful to have her available to get a drink and catch up.

Kim - birth name Cameron - was the only child in a fairly typical nixie household. His parents cared for him but were not overly loving or doting. Cameron assumed they remained aloof to teach him independence, but his early childhood days were lonely as both his parents went to work and left him an array of different babysitters. While this did force him to become independent in himself, he also became attention-starved, developing something of a diva attitude to seek worth from his parents. This attitude became more severe as he began attending school and he was quickly part of the popular group. He didn't just want attention, he demanded it, and achieved it with a bigger-than-life personality and immaculate self-grooming.
When he was a junior, Cameron realised his attraction to anything feminine. Feminine hair, makeup and clothing began to fill his world as he grew an impressive collection of fashion magazines. One day he showed up to school in full drag and demanded that everyone call him 'Kim'; thus began his drag career. People may have liked Cameron, but they fell in love with Kim. She was fabulous and amusing in her diva-antics. From that point forward, Cameron would regularly attend school as Kim, not only for attention but also because it felt more comfortable. Cameron's parents were relatively indifferent to this development, not caring what their son chose to do as long as he wasn't getting into trouble. This disappointed the young nixie, and he felt he had no choice but to keep going bigger and better. No one would feel indifferent towards Kim, after all.
By the time Cameron graduated high school in his home-city, he knew he wanted Kim to become his life. While his underwater city was the largest in the ocean, the drag scene wasn't nearly as prominent there as he heard it was in Asphodel. He made a grand dramatic exit in front of his parents, but they barely gave him a goodbye; Cameron was disappointed, but not surprised. They did, however, provide him with a substantial amount of money to maintain his lifestyle in the demon capital, much to his delight. He'd grown accustomed to the life provided by his successful parents and had no interest in leaving it behind. Once he arrived in Asphodel, Kim immediately exploded onto the drag scene. Her polished appearance and practice in drag landed him gigs easily, and she is enjoying performing almost every night. She currently enjoys living the fabulous lifestyle, further polishing her makeup and overall aesthetic. The last thing Kim wants to do is think about the future, living her life from show to show and feeding off the spotlight.

star was a going-away present given to kim by his parents; something to remember home by. kim appreciates star's beauty and amusement, but is hardly bothered with the familiar. he lets her do whatever she pleases, occasionally showing her affection if she asks for it. it's an incredibly passive relationship, but it seems to work for both of them.

To most people, Belladonna's history is a complete mystery - the most she tells others is that she has a bachelor from Asterion; that's all the information you'll find about her time before coming to Rosebud. The hybrid was raised in a poor goblin family in Above, her stone having been imbued by a loving goblin father and a passing, charismatic demon trader. No one should have been surprised that after a night of drinking, love-making and bold promises, her demon father was never seen once she awakened. With little to no money, Belladonna was taught to be frugal and opportunistic, sourcing food and shelter where she could. Her large goblin family was happy to overlook the fact that she was a hybrid, but she always felt distinctly different. In an arrogance and self-centered way that only children can have, she knew she was better than her pure-goblin siblings and was destined for more.
As she grew older, Belladonna began to look down on her family and their poverty; she had easily become the most resourceful of the bunch, using her tenacious attitude and silver tongue to secure many of their meals for very little in exchange. As she grew into a teenager, Belladonna began to admire her demon father from the stories, a man smart enough to take what he wanted without forming needless weaknesses. She wasn't even considered an adult when Belladonna made the choice to leave home, knowing she would never look back. Undoubtedly her family was devastated and hurt being left behind so coldly, but Belladonna has never consciously regretted her decision. She knew her current course of action; acquire an official education to establish a firm foothold in the world. With a degree under her belt, it would be easier to assert her dominance and guarantee people listen to her.
Belladonna chose to major in law at Asterion, enjoying the ability to manipulate legal documents and precedents in her favour. With no Academy-official eduaction, Belladonna had to excel in the application test and write an incredibly persuasive entry essay; which, of course, she did. Already having developed an ability to multi-task and immaculately finish tasks, she came in top of the grade in most of her classes. Graduating with honours, Belladonna had accomplished her goal to the best of her ability and, for the first time in her life, became uncertain in her future. She could simply become a lawyer in Asphodel city, knowing it would allow her to achieve a life of wealth and respect. Instead, she found herself drawn to the most unlikely of job applications; managing a small farming town named Rosebud. She scoffed at the message at first, knowing how beneath her it was. The idea never left her mind, however, and for weeks it stuck in her head. She had the ability to take on this role and truly make it her own, running an entire town from behind the scenes. She could make it better, make it a prominent mark on the map.
After weeks of mental torment, Belladonna finally decided to take the job. She barely had to attend the interview - her credentials and known history in Asterion was undeniably desirable - and she was quick to insert herself into the town. She wasn't necessarily liked at first due to her cold demeanour and black-and-white attitude, but the townspeople acknowledged her ability to get things done. Within a few months the town had doubled in in trade and tourism, many of the more run-down farms becoming profitable once more. She was quick to find a new mayor and establish cultural arts within the community and, by present, she has ensured that she's invaluable to the town. There is no Rosebud without Belladonna, and she will continue to run the town from the shadows and her clipboard for the entire foreseeable future.
