As soon as the mother lode had appeared, it left again leaving only coal and stone in its wake. Rota decided that advancement was needed now. Once he had finished up a few of the things he needed to do, he would be gone. The tedium was starting to get to him even in Mining now, and that was a bad sign. he could only do this for so much longer before it would consume him entirely. he needed to end this mining session soon. He was only 2 coal away, so it shouldn't be too bad. That was the hope.

And it was at the lowest point of his mind starting to rot away, that Rota found the last Mother Lode he needed. He had found all the materials he wanted, and was in very good position to get in some smithing practice now. but for now he decided to gather his materials and rest in the village near the forge. Maybe Alyx would stop by eventually, or maybe he would find someone else who wanted or needed his help. Either way, he was done here.

Name: Dressed in the Best Questgiver: Leatherworker Prerequisites: None Objectives: 1 post to craft a leather vest Rewards: +1 leatherworking Rota realized he had gone a long way to be able to make everything he needed in terms of equipment...except his armor. He had considered heavy and light armors, but the Heavy armor was too bulky for his tastes, and light armor didn't protect him enough for his liking. Seemed like medium defense and heavy strikes were the way his career as a warrior was going to play out. He didn't mind it, he felt very natural in that kind of scenario. He didn't need to be a damage soaker, he needed to kill things before they hit him. He couldn't rely on dodging EVERYTHING, sometimes you needed to be able to take the hits you CAN'T avoid. It was then that Rota remembered the Leatherworker had requested help with a leather vest, and his creativity was piqued. Rota removed his gloves and cloak, and immediately got working with instructions from the leatherworker. He was able to cut the shapes of the pieces of leather that would eventually get stitched together with a bit of difficulty. This was his first time throwing himself wholeheartedly into this version of armor making. His father had tried back in the day to teach him, but it like all others got pushed to the back of his mind in favor of learning the way of the sword. Rota cursed his young self, as he cut the last shape of the vest, that he had ignored that training all those years back. If he had listened he would have been in such a better position right now. As the thick cord was brought out with a heavy duty sewing needle, he tried to remember all that he had forgotten about that training while foisting himself fully into this one. Rota's borrowed needle wove in and out of the leather, stitching the seams that would make the shape of the vest. The Leatherworker also brought out a waterproofed adhesive to add to not only some of the layers of leather but to the seams themselves so that the cord didn't degrade and make the vest fall apart. When he was done the vest was of fairly good quality. it was a light tan vest with same color cord so it would blend in, with dark yarn stitching designs to give it a western feel to it. He hung the vest up on an available rack, gave his regards to the Leatherworker, and left the establishment.

Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 94/94 Bait. The player was getting concerned. he was completing quests and tasks, but at this point he wasn't getting rewards for them. This was bad. This could be a pretty game-breaking bug if it persisted, but he didn't know of any way to fix it. The player decided that all he could do is hope that the Admins caught wind of it soon, otherwise he was going to really suffer through things that he wanted to do. While he was waiting on other things to get processed, he felt he should have Rota work on his beastmaster skill. If he was going to tame a Dire wolf, then that was going to need to be far higher than the two that it was. The only problem is that he didn't have bait. In looking through everything in the manual, he figured that the only bait available was the rabbit food, so all he needed to do was pick some up. Rota walked to the beastmaster, and decided that this was now the time to work on his taming abilities. With no other alternative besides specific treats, he decided to pick himself up a hefty amount of bait. -940 gil for 94 bait He now needed to head into the forest and find some creatures to tame. He knew that creatures could either be tamed outright, or give you their essence. To keep on task of the Dire Wolf, he decided to consciously only be doing this for essence unless in the case of deer or rabbits. They had other things that he needed. He stood with his bag of treats ready for whatever decided it was mealtime. Whatever force controlled the universe wanted him dead, that was the only explanation. Regardless, there was nothing for it but to press on and make good on his word. he would tame this bear and take its essence to use for his own purposes. his bait was ready, and the slavering, rabid behemoth stood in front of him, as if daring him to attack. Rota wouldn't. That would be counter productive in the long run. Rota would only attack if he ran out of useable bait. The bear decided to take the first move in Rota's stead. It charged at the young half-demon and tried to bite the hand that was holding out the bait, feeling oddly attracted to it. Rota managed to drop the bait just in time as he felt the teeth of the Bear almost clamp on his hand, him managing to pull his hand out before it full latched to it. He was glad the padding on his gloves was so good, otherwise he would have felt that for sure. The bear seemed to enjoy it, and Rota was happy to give it more. He pulled out another piece of bait, and hoped this time he would be able to give it to the bear in safer terms. This time Rota let go of the bait too soon and it fell uselessly to the ground. Once more his hand almost was bit off by the bear with only the boar hide of his glove protecting him from that happening. Rota backed away quickly. This was bad. He had almost gotten hit twice in two attempts, and one of them failed spectacularly. Rota knew how hard it was to put these things down, and he had to do this for WAY longer than last time. This time, Rota was ready. he deftly slid backwards just SLIGHTLY out of the bear's reach. When it got frustrated with this concept, it tried to roar a challenge at him, and this is where Rota struck. He tossed the food into the Bear's mouth as it was screaming at him, and it closed its mouth on it in shock and began to much instinctively. Rota smiled as he grabbed another piece. This is going to be slow going, but i think I can make this work.It was just now that the player noticed a separate bar of blue eking out in the green healthbar of the Bear. He assumed this was the bar that determined how close it was to friendship. if so, then this truly was going to take AGES to pull off. But the Player thought of the grander goal here. If he could tame this bear with so little beastmaster skill now, he would(in theory) gain a TON of experience for it because of how long the struggle was. The prospect was very enticing to him. Right before the bear got to him, he waved the piece in front of him and the bear halted tentatively. It was then that Rota tossed the treat into the air and the bear caught it in its mouth, chewing it gleefully. It seemed that the Bear did have some intelligence left after the rabies had set in, however the glee in its eyes melted away once more to fury as it looked back to Rota. Armed with another piece, he prepared for the Bear's next move. The player chanced a look at The health bar again, and saw that it was a little over what he could assume was 25%. It was raging, but at least he had seen the change. He mentally prepared himself as it rushed him, fully intent on biting his head off. As it came close, Rota stepped to his left side, and dropped the piece of bait where he was previously standing. The piece dropped into the ravenous maw of the Bear, and while it was still consuming it, it was not happy about it in the slightest. The gnashing teeth of the bear tore into the bait as Rota stood waiting for its next move. The player again looked at the Healthbar of the bear, and was ecstatic! 50% complete! The Bear lumbered towards him at a good clip, trying to bit him again, and Rota stepped to the side like a matador and popped the Bait in its mouth as it ran past. It seemed very confused as it chewed on the treat, and Rota prepared another. The bear was seeming friendlier than it started off being, and that HAD to mean that he was close. Indeed it did, for as the Player looked at its health bar, it was almost quarter of the way form being completely overtaken by blue. Roll1 91(89+2) VS Roll3 27(95/2= 47-20)= Success! 91-27= 64/4= 16 Friendship! Roll2 107(98+8= 106+1) VS 75(95-20)= Hit Failure! Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 86/94 Bait. Bear HP: 100/100 FP: 88/100 Bear: A large black bear, its fur fallen off in tufts, rabid from some disease it seems. 100 HP -20 to all combat rolls 1-90: attack (will attack party members at random. 1-90 can be split into as many parts as needed to ensure everyone has an equal chance of getting attacked) 91-100: rage for one round, reducing the penalty to all rolls to -10, and reducing damage taken by half.Rota edged closer, The Bear kinda staring at him the whole time. he brought the piece of bait closer and closer to the bear, and he almost hand fed it. Unfortunately at the last second, its natural instincts kicked in, and it swiped its left fore-claw at him. Rota jumped back, leaving the bait in front of the Bear, cursing his bad luck. However, the bear leaned its neck down after he got a distance away, and proceeded to eat the treat. Rota was SURE that it was incredibly close to being truly friendly to him. All he had to do was persist a little bit more and he would be able to finish this. As soon as he got within arm's reach, it tried to swipe at him again with much the same result. It did still eat the bait that Rota dropped when he jumped back from the swing, but it frustrated Rota. This had gone so well so far, and now he was tripping at the finish line. He wouldn't tolerate it. it was time to assert himself a little. He had been very patient with this bear, and now it was time to show it that it had a master now. He ran towards the bear with bait in his hand and reckless abandon. The Bear roared at him to try and drive him off, but he stayed the course and jammed the bait in its mouth and grabbed its neck and head in a headlock. The bear roared and shook, trying everything to get the Demon off of it, but Rota held firm and was at too awkward of an angle for the Bear to consciously counteract in its stupor. After minutes of struggle, the bear calmed down, and burst into blue shards. Rota backed away quickly, not knowing what would happen next. Could monsters tamed come back as rage beasts? if so he would have to kill it because he had no faith in his abilities to tame a rage bear.
