"'Course." She dropped the towel on the ground rather than putting it back nicely (why would it matter? They were gone in two days anyways). Bathrobe was handed over, though she didn't think it would fit Jack as well as it fit her, considering the height difference.
She left her plugs on the counter (not like they were going to close up over night), but the rest of her jingly bits came with her. "C'mon drunk cowboy."

"Not drunk," he protested as he got out of the tub and took the robe. "Relaxed. Slightly tipsy." It was short on him, but it'd do. He stepped on the towel and used it to dry his feet and legs and then picked his glasses up. Fogged up, just as he thought, but better than going by blurry vision alone.
Blinking sleepily, he exited the bathroom at a slow shuffle and yawned. "Good work today. Tomorrow's when the real fun starts," he said as he leaned over the bed to pick up his notes and the map.

Chel led the shuffle out, glancing back at Jack every once in a while to make sure he didn't hit anything, and twice removing obstacles in his way with her foot.
While Jack cleared his side of the bed, she crawled onto hers, not even bothering to change into something more suitable; as far as Chel was concerned, she was more than fully dressed. She immediately starfished and then curled into a ball shortly after, letting out a pleased noise. She loved hotels and not forests so much.
"Mmm good," she responded, voice muffled by the pillow. "Real hard work today. Lookin' forward to punchin' somethin'."

"Oh, I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances." He dumped his things on the armchair. "Between our wandering and a few nuggets I got from tourists, I have a good idea where they'll hit next."
Jack hit the bed with a satisfying whump that jostled his glasses. Sighing contentedly, he crawled on next to her and rolled onto his back.
"Also starting to think this particular clone is a lot younger than the usual ones."

"Why you think it's younger?" she asked, curious as to how he'd made a deduction like that from beeps on a reader.
Chel rolled over and pulled on his arm in a slightly brattish, selfish way. "C'mere original copy."

He made a long noise in his throat (whaaaaaaat) as he scooted closer. "School had the most blips," Jack explained. "I had some chichats while we walked around and in the museum. There were several trips reserved by both Greek and American schools to tour here, most of the cases of 'food poisoning' were students, and," here he turned towards Chel properly, sounding pleased with his social skills finally not getting in the way of something, "I spoke to a few parents who said they saw an odd pair near their group; peddlers, they thought, though they gave off strange vibes. Apparently they disappeared shortly before the Fear candy side effects set in.'"

"Look at you," she murmured, moving in on his chest and forcibly tucking herself under his arms as though he was a puppet. "Y'got so much info and I just had fun." She breathed a long sigh, tickled by the strange texture the bathrobe had. "S'why you're gettin' promoted, y'know?"
She pulled her own bathrobe up slightly, enough to move the belt out from under her because it was annoying her. "We'll catch his-" Yawn. "-a** tomorrow."

The second day had begun peacefully enough. Jack had a mild hangover (he had underestimated how much wine he had imbibed), but it wasn't anything a cup of coffee couldn't help him get over. He woke up early enough to grab them both some breakfast because he had had a feeling Chel would decide to sleep in, and while two bagels, bologna and prosciutto slices, and several small boxes of cereal with tabs of milk weren't exactly the heartiest meal, it was all he could filch to bring up; he didn't feel like waiting for room service or paying for more, and a full stomach before a mission was a shitty idea anyway.
The interim preparation to hit the school was mostly quiet on Jack's end. He was easing back into mission mode again, his mind elsewhere as he double checked that his runics were still operational, phone charged, location correct. What he hadn't counted on when they got there, however, was the sheer idle time they had.
Twitter became their go to when they weren't whispering to one another or checking the binoculars. He regretted diverting his attention for those three messages, however delicious it was to see Stormy go dark and Gale barking up too late to stop him.
"Stupid doesn't begin to cover it," he murmured, answering Chel's DM aloud while he kept his eyes towards the school. It was getting close to lunchtime.

momentary loss
Half the bed was empty, no sign of him. There was a putrid, panicked feeling that crept up from her chest and made her breathing hitch a few times before her eyes registered his suitcase, the discarded bathrobe, yesterday's clothing folded on the armchair.
Not alone. Just a momentary loss. There were worse ways to wake up.

She carried all of the embellishments today; net gun strapped across her back regardless of the funny looks she got, daggers under her flannel again, belts, buckles. The works.
Chel was silent for a few moments after Jack's comments, her mind elsewhere, only idly setting a hand on his shoulder to assure him that she'd heard him. Tugged in too many directions by three conversations. Focus, she needed focus. She couldn't allow Jack's promotion to be ******** up because of her.
"We must look like ********' *****>," she commented, finding it somewhat unsettling to watch children, waiting for one that looked like Jack. "You sure it's this one?"

"There was fresh activity on the reader when we got here. Either students got a pass to visit this school of all places or, yeah, we're dealing with a clone." Said reading was different than the other blips they had run across, one he was starting to understand meant the clones had a unique signature even amongst the supernatural.
He noticed she had been gazing down at her phone long after he was done and asked, "Someone giving you s**t?"

"Or maybe you just want an excuse to watch children. ********' creepo." She leaned over to look at the reading device, understanding absolutely none of it but enjoying the soft beeps none the less.
She raised an eyebrow at his question and said, "Eh? Nah. S'just hard to read." Not entirely false. "How much longer we gonna have to wait you think? Maybe we should just go in there and get 'im."

"And what, pose as parents?" he asked with a soft scoff. "It might have my face, but we hardly looked dressed for the part. No, if anything, it's hiding somewhere until the children are out, and then it strikes. Just," he checked his phone, "twenty minutes or so more."
He paused, then added, "Want me to read them for you?" as casually as he could.

"Excuse you," Chel contested. "I'm the ********' vision of a perfect mom." She flipped her ombre hair to where it slapped him in the side and gave a sarcastic hmph.
She immediately closed out of her DM with Dawson and shoved the phone into her pocket. "Nah I'm done," she said smoothly, only having made up half a lie to shake him. "Was just tellin' D-man what we were doin' 'cause he asked." Another half a lie. They were adding up now. "What d'you wanna do for twenty whole minutes?"

He could have moved on, but Chel's smooth demeanor in conjunction with the convenient finish gave him pause. "Are you sure you're good?" Jack asked lightly, wondering if his sniping had set off something. She had been snippy with Gale rather than joking, which warmed the cockles of his icy heart but also was not something he could miss. "I need you focused."
