Hatch may have noticed a very subtle, and small hint of pride that was expressed physically on Mako, via his slightly more puffed out chest, and lifted head from the praise on his Milotic's care. "Have since he was a little Feebas." he gave pause, admiring the brilliant sheen on the water types scales, before faintly smirking, "But you are right. He stands above the rest." he confirmed promptly. Flua seemed to modestly absorb the compliments aimed his way, etched on the happy expression on his face. As they moved on in pursuit of the Pokemon that was weaving around in the grasses, and causing everyone to fall into such a commotion, Mako gave a huff, and rolled his eyes in disdain, "They're going to scare it away at this rate." he grumbled on, stopping his movements only briefly when there was a small glimmer of colour in regards to the mystery Poke. Narrowing his eyes, he tried to decipher what it could be, based just off of that. Rattling.... pink...? "So... maybe not an Ekans.." the teen muttered under his breath, a hand lifting to readjust his glasses once more, and hold his chin afterwards in thought.
Glancing to Hatch from the corner of his eye, he inquired with the other trainer, "Any ideas what it could be?" there was also the fact that others were attempting to catch it that were taken into consideration, "gonna try catching it too?"
Flua would circle around Mako a few times, peeking back at Zhira, to give a little song, or fan his fins around the Meowth in a carefree way. Truly, the Milotic was very whimsical... in contrast to his bristly trainer.

Emalthya watched the other trainers desperately flinging their pokeballs at the mystery pokemon. She pulled a bun out of her backpack, split it in half and offered Pheonix the choice of them. He chose the half closest and they ate their bun while they watched the theatrics.

Seeing the ego-boost he'd given Mako, Hatch just smiled and nodded. He had always been one to appreciate the beauty in pokemon, and had no reservations about showing that.
The question made him look over at the volley of pokeballs being thrown, and bashfully shoved his hands into his pockets. "Nah. I think I'll wait until I know what I'm getting... You might say that I'm not a big fan of surprises." One to usually err on the side of caution, he didn't like throwing his pokeballs at an unknown creature.
Zhira would respond to Flua by swishing his tail high in the air, skipping along to keep up with his new companion. He purred lightly, completely ignoring the ruckus in the grass. Catching other pokemon that might take Hatch's attention from him held no place in his desires.

-Niko got a bit sidetracked but will return to clean the girl's wound on her arm after this mini pokemon encounter- Piko noticed bits of pink rustling in the tall grass and flew over there to take a closer look. He saw his trainer busily talking to a stranger but it didn't stop him for calling out for attention. He made a lot of noise as he used Air Slash twice in a row to ward off the unknown pokemon. Niko stopped digging through his bag and saw his pokemon acting all aggressive towards something in the grass. He looked at the girl and said "Sorry my pokemon isn't usually like this. Something must be wrong. I will be right back to tend to your wound!" Quickly, he ran over to where his Togekiss was making a big deal out of it. He too saw bits of pink being shown here and there through the tall grass. It was fast and darted in all directions making it impossible to identify what it is. With a situation like this, he had no choice but to take out a Safari Ball out of his pocket and throw at the unidentifiable creature. "Well, here we go," and he throw the ball at it. The ball kept on wiggling around and he waited patiently for a "Chak" sound to let him know that he had caught whatever it was that was hiding in the tall grass. If he manages to capture it at all that is. Pokeball go!

Jaime yelled Doom's name again and he finally slowed to a walk and allowed her to catch up to him. By the time she reached the Pokemon she was huffing and puffing, unable to find the breath to scold him. He was still pointedly walking towards the mysterious Pokemon that continued to weave its way through the high grasses, successfully concealing its whole body. Finally Jaime managed to catch her breath. She saw other trainers throwing Safari Balls towards the Pokemon in an attempt to catch it, and figure out what it was. Following suit, Jaime reached into her backpack and pulled one out. She then started sprinting forward and threw the Safari Ball, hoping it might have some positive effect. Pokeball go!

Juno's eyes narrowed as she caught a glimpse of what the fuss was about this time. Perhaps it might be worth a look after all.... She whipped out a Pokéball and pitched it hard and fast toward the rustling in the grass. Pokéball go!

As the grass thinned out, the pokemon was finally fully visible as it glimmered in the sunlight - a shiny dunsparce! But as everyone threw pokeballs at it, another high pitched shriek sounded through the air, and a shadow emerged from the grass. In everyone's haste to follow after the shiny pokemon, it had been able to more or less sneak up on its prey undetected. With a single bite, the pokemon devoured the dunsparce in a single gulp before being pelted with the thrown pokeballs. The pokeball that captured the victrebell belonged to the girl with the lavender hair, it seemed, but alas, the trainers were too slow to save the shiny dunsparce-snack. 1. xxx Yuki Bear xxx 2. Emalthya shrieked in horror and clung to Pheonix. He looked a little green and both of them stood there staring at a bunch of pokeballs and one rocking... rocking... still.
"I guess... this whole thing is just going to be scream after scream," said Emalthya weakly, blotting her forehead.

Magnolia's eyes glittered. A Dunsparce! And a shiny one at that! While it wasn't much of a immortality granter, at least it could be— "Uh?"
Why was there a Victreebel? Why was it approaching the Dunsparce? Why was it opening its mouth—
"Oh my Arceus!" the fourteen year old shrieked as the Grass-type swallowed the snekloaf Lane Snake Pokemon in one fell gulp. Next thing she knew, it was overcome by a barrage of Pokeballs, and hers happened to be the one to knock it on its eyeball and suck it in. She watched in horror as the predatory plant shook the sphere three times before settling in it for good.
"O-oh my..."
Scuttling up to it, Magnolia scooped it up, and held the ball between her hands daintily. Her face drew to a miserable frown as she declared, then and there, "Why did I have to catch it. I don't want it. Why."

"What a waste," Juno muttered, wrinkling her nose at the carnage. The first Dunsparce seen in Zatao, shiny to boot, and it had met its end in the jaws of a common, vicious Victreebel. She deftly caught her returning Pokéball and tucked it away, ready for another chance at a valuable prize. Desdemona cackled maniacally at the unfolding scene, enjoying the horror of the gathered trainers.

There was quite a lot of commotion as they followed the mysterious pokemon in the grass. For a while they were only able to see hits of it: the yellow rattle-like tail, flashed of pink. Eventually it came into view and was revealed as a shiny Dunsparce. But before Shaun could even raise his camera to his eyes, a much larger - and much hungrier- pokemon burst out of the grass and ate it in one bite.
Shaun just stood there for a moment, dumbfounded. It was kind of hard to believe that happened. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have though a pokemon could swallow another pokemon whole. That...was actually kind of fascinating, in its own gruesome way. Could other pokemon conceivably eat another whole? Very large pokemon like Wailord could manage it easily. So could pokemon that could stretch their mouth quite wide and had large stomachs, like Swalot. And if the pokemon being eaten was particularly small, like a Joltic, even more pokemon would be able to swallow it whole. Barring the likely fact that a electric pokemon would certainly object to being eaten and try to deliver a nasty shock to its assailant. Though that would make no difference to large Ground-types, like Steelix...
Anyone looking at Shaun would see him gazing idly at the spot the Victreebel had been caught, head slightly tilted with a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Lielielielielie!" Lily Rose yelped, bolting back towards her trainer. Grabbing her ruff, Joey bolted back to the big, strong Tropius. "It's gonna eat us aaaaaaalllllll," he near-sobbed to himself. Approaching the dubious safety of the large pokemon, he gulped. "Um, can we please hide up there? I'm scared something is gonna eat me or Lily Rose," Joey asked, lower lip wobbling dangerously. Lily Rose was nearly wrapped around his legs, her tail fully curled down between her legs and up against her belly, ears flat against her head.

Salvo had been trotting along behind Shaun. Though he hadn't been as fast as his trainer, the fact that everyone had stopped let him catch up. So he was fairly close to Shaun when Joey ran up to him. Salvo and Shaun both turned their heads to look when the boy spoke up. "Hmm?" Shaun hummed, momentarily distracted by his own thoughts about pokemon eating things whole. "Oh, sure, no problem. Here, let me give you a hand." He tucked his camera back in his pocket, then headed over to the boy. He considered offering to lift the boy up, then decided he wasn't sure if he was strong enough. Instead he knelt beside Salvo and cupped his hands. "Here, put a foot in my hands and I'll give you a boost. You can grab Salvo's leave to help pull yourself up. They're tougher than they look. Once you're up I'll hand you Lily Rose, OK?"

"O-okay," Joey replied, sniffling a bit. Freeing his feet from Lily Rose's terrified cuddle, he put a foot in the hand-stirrup, grabbed a leaf, and swung up onto the Tropius. After a bit of squirming around, he decided he was secure and reached down for Lily Rose. "Th-thanks. ...it just ate it, in one bite!" he murmured.
