Referring to the conversation about fire-proofing your characters... When opaj lost Keppashiri after his fateful duel against Bob Roberts (we know him as Arc), I had him replace the blade with Utou, a defensive katana with energy-deflecting abilities. I thought it would be a weak replacement at the time, but due to it's ability to stop firey attacks in their tracks, it's turned out to be marginally more useful than either of opaj's other two blades.

I like nakoruru with shikiruru [wolf], but her little sister... i seem to be able to kill a lot easier with rimiruru and konril [ice spirit].

ukyo > all.

I wouldn't know.

Also, I'm really not used to playing slower characters....

It is my belief that timing is much more important than speed. However, since timing is so much more difficult to pull off, speed is a solid alternative.[/random commentary]

i understand. i don't neccesarily agree, but i completely understand. i think they're about 1 and 1. you have to be reeeeeally good on timing if you're big. and i try to be careful to disrupt timing all the time... no repetition, no apparent rhythm.

I believe timing is a necessity if a large character is to win. If you can find the opening, you can use it. Even abuse it if you must.

Of course, I'm referring to timing as far as real-life combat strategy goes. There's a limit on how fast a person can get, but once you've mastered timing, the importance of speed is greatly reduced.

In a world like Gaia, where limits are less of an issue, I suppose that speed is at least as important. xp

And here I thought it was never a matter of speed, or timing, but a matter of having a gameplan.

Bah, gameplans are for the weak and the undefeated.

Game plans are nice enough, but they don't prepare you for the other person's gameplan.

Alrighty, well, you can always go by the wisdom of Dave Price, the King of Beatdown.

"There are never any wrong threats, only wrong answers."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 19, 2006 1:35 am

Who's Dave Price? And aren't most gameplans like, "Let's go out and show them who's boss" or ", Let's flank 'em boys!"

That's what game theory is for. 3nodding

...I wish I knew game theory! crying

Also, I was thinking of updating the story summary in the ol' BC thread to include Parts 2 & 3, but with Part 2 being little more than mass confusion spread over an assload of threads throughout Gaia (and it was supposed to be the easy part!), I'm thinking I just might abandon that project.

*Goes shifty-eyed*

Hey there, Opaj...How's about a clue as to what youses next project is goings to be?

Dave Price is a professional gamer.

And most gameplans are like "His ______ is strong, shut it down." or "We have a better offense than he does, so keep on swinging and press the advantage."
