(( Claire & Aaron → Food tables + Justin ))
"No problem," Aaron said with a wave to Justin as their companion departed. Claire took a slow sip from her cup, barely tasting the wine as her eyes perused the other guests again. Her husband was quick to notice though and he set the plate down firmly on the table. "Claire."
"What?" She answered a little too readily, and averted her gaze when he continued to stare, his lips pressed into a firm line. "I'm fine, really."
"Claire, if you're not feeling it, we can go home," he added, more gently, but she shook her head. Her fingers flexed on the Solo cup and she, too, set her plate on the table.
"No. I need to do this. I can't just.. I don't know. I've got to deal with it." Aaron nodded slowly and sat back, reaching for the last jalapeno popper on his plate.
"Awrigh', bu' iff yoo nee' do --" Claire cut him off with a laugh, and he blushed, swallowing. "Hey -- hey, I mean it!" Her giggles mellowed as Justin approached again, looking a little unbalanced with the three plates he was holding. "Woah, hey hold on, lemme get those --" Aaron was on his feet and grabbed at two of the plates as their companion moved in for a beer. "Thanks a lot, man. Claire?" He passed one over to his wife, and she smiled thankfully at Justin.
"Been a while since I've had some of these," she mused aloud as she shelled one and put it in her mouth. Aaron had started back in on his beer when Justin asked about their work, and he paused momentarily to reply.
"Ah, I run my own business - produce distributor. It was the family business really but, y'know." He grinned. "Claire works for a lawyer downtown as a paralegal." Claire nodded, eating another crawfish, and grateful for the excuse not to talk. With how jittery she felt it was probably best to limit her words. But the news of a pamphlet drew her out of her silence.
"Pamphlet? I think I saw those on the table.. didn't read it, though." Her eyes darted back to the entrance table. "I'm gonna go grab one, hold that though boys." And with that, she moved towards the check in. What was this about "feeding on feelings"?

((Duncan -> Cafeteria, Ronan, Henry, Anita -> Lab entrance, Leigh; Mordekai -> Kitchen, Ronan, Henry, Anita))
Duncan was quietly relieved when Leigh picked up her phone. He smiled tentatively and hummed in understanding-- "No, it's quite alright, Leigh. I'll go meet you at the front of the lab. There's absolutely no rush, people have just begun to settle in-- I'm sorry to hear about the traffic. Keep on the line until you can see me or I can see you, just in case."
He stood from his seat and made his way toward the second exit of the cafeteria, which lead to the Lab lounge rather than the patio. Before he met entirely, he glanced over to see that Mordekai entered into the kitchen again with an entirely new set of people. He smiled toward Anita, Ronan, and Henry, and offered a wave, quiet nod, and brief "hello." He muffled the phone speaker briefly to talk to them properly.
"It's nice to meet you too-- ah," he laughed as Anita struggled to say his name past chewing the food, "Henry. I have to go meet up with someone at the moment, but I'll be sure to see all of you soon-- thank you for bringing food."
With that, he ducked out of the cafeteria and addressed Leigh again. He looked from side to side in an attempt to see where Leigh was. "I'm at the entrance now. Which side did you manage to park on? I know it's quite busy around here."
Mordekai, meanwhile, was too busy entertaining the idea of crab and addressing Henry and Ronan's inquiries to greet Duncan. He laughed at Ronan, "Yeah, y'shoulda, ain't anythin' gonna stop me from hoardin' all this! Ah--" while he spoke, he glanced back at the inside of the pot to check if it was already filled with water. When it wasn't, he snapped his finger and grabbed the pot and placed it under the sink, waited for it to filled with water, then pointed mindlessly at Henry. He snapped his fingers once.
"Somethin' to light that with, got it." He knelt down to check beneath the kitchen sink and pulled out a bic. He peered over toward the counter and held it in his hand tentatively-- "Here, catch--" he said, before throwing it underhanded toward Henry. Once he managed that, he stared wide-eyed over at Ronan when he addressed the fish between his arms, which lent itself to even more wide-eyed staring.
"You brought fish," he whispered; he slowly stood up and grabbed Ronan gently by the shoulders, then shook his head slowly, "Boy, you are tryin' t'steal the show here, ain't you! Holy s**t, it's workin'." He laughed and pat Ronan's arm before looking around the kitchen to address his question. Space was quickly running out, but one last stove top was still completely clear and ready to use.
"There, last stove top. Guessin' y'din't skin th'fish already, right? I'll do that real quick if y'don't wanna, but I'm thinkin' pan-fry or pan-sear, bakin' it's gonna take way longer an' we don't got much here f'flavor," he shrugged, smiled, then glanced at Anita and Ronan.
"Dunno! What d'y'all think we shoul' do?" he brightened and looked back at the crab pot, which was still filling with water, then stared giddily at Anita, "Oh my god, we have crab! Holy-- oh my god, ********, Anita, Anita-- Anita, we need th'Old Bay! Raid the ********' kitchen or I'm bustin' outta here an' hittin the stores!"

((Melanie --> Bonfire | Thanatos))
Melanie didn't expect him to have a bike, but when he suggested a ride, her eyes widened and she began to blush. He had a bike!? It seemed as though her heart melted right then and there. She knew that this man was different and had something much different than any other she had known previously.
She glanced away for a moment to gather her thoughts; since all she could think was that this man was hot, different, and asking her on a potential date. "I-I think I would like that a lot." she responded, listening to the man speak of going on a ride with him. She loved adventure and riding a motorcycle was one of her favorite, less dangerous things to do in life.
As he scooted closer to her, she blushed and giggled slightly to herself, moving her hand from her thigh to her chest. Then as he spoke, she laughed a bit more, moving it up to cover her mouth. She blushed at his wink and shook her head a bit, smiling uncontrollably. Mel spoke up, but in a whispered tone, "Skinny dipping was something I used to do all the time with my girls back in college." she began, "I totally understand where you're coming from. Scuba diving is actually something I've never done before, as crazy as that sounds. When we were at the lake house during the summertime as a child, my father would take us fishing if we wanted to wake up early with him." she concluded, looking off quickly as she sighed.
"I just wish I was still as active as I used to be. Right now I've been so focused on my work I haven't been able to do much of anything." she stated, looking back at the man with a half-smile. She really did wish she had more time to do things that she did in her early twenties.
When the man suggested more food, Melanie realized that yes, she was still quite famished. "You know, that would be great, thanks." she said, smiling and blushing as she wrapped her arms around herself slightly to rub her biceps. She actually really enjoyed this man's company and couldn't wait for him to get back to her. She sat patiently and enjoyed the scenery in the meantime.

((Pasha -> Seating Area | Cesc, Zul, Eth))
Pasha took Cesc's arm gladly and followed him towards Zul and Eth, wings furling slightly in greeting before she ever spoke. The Stag acknowledged them both, and the Muse slipped her arm free from Cesc's gracefully so she'd be free for an embrace from either.
"Ethiriel, it's wonderful to see you again! Hello, Zul." Pasha's eyes were warm, and she took in the Demon's choice of accourtrements for a moment before her smile blossomed. Silver, so Eth could feed!! "You look very handsome."
It was obvious she was touched by his thoughtfulness. The flowers in her hair were full and fine, casting dappled shadows across her temple as she smiled.

Thanatos --> Bonfire to Food Table back to Bonfire | Melanie ]]
Thanatos was quite surprised when she admitted to not having scuba dived yet. Of all the activities she could have missed out on. He shook his head tsking at the thought but was glad for it. Perhaps he'd invite her out with him to do just that, after she saw an instructor on the basics. He kept the thought to himself for now, already being so forward enough to ask her to accompany him on a bike outing.
He couldn't help surprising himself. Women weren't as easy to talk to as men but for Melanie it was a breeze. He gave her a warm smile as he stood to his feet eye balling the food tables with trepidation. It seemed quite crowded but he'd make quick work of this mission. "Forgive me in advance if I grab something you don't like." He offered as an apology before he slipped toward the table, skirting a few Raevan and Guardians alike. Filling first a plate for Melanie, he gathered a few crawfish, some mac n' cheese, BBQ ribs, some biscuits and devil eggs. He wasn't sure if she'd like the selection but was banking on the fact she seemed okay with trying something at least once. His plate on the other hand, had the same along with more pineapple salad, dirty rice and chocolate dipped strawberries. He grabbed himself a beer and wine for Melanie before heading back. "I wasn't sure if you liked beer so I got some wine too." He announced handing her plate to her and setting his down.
Once he was certain she was satisfied with her food he took his usual seat placing his plate on his lap and setting his beer on the ground next to him. Poking at a rib he licked the sauce off his fingers turning green eyes upon Melanie in curiosity. "I hope it's okay to ask but what is your profession. Surprisingly you never spoke about that... then again I guess I never asked." He laughed softly poking at a biscuit before breaking off a piece and putting it in his mouth. Mmm, soft and buttery.

((Melanie --> Bonfire | Thanatos))
All the woman could think while he was away was the fact that he seemed so kind and different from any of the other men she had met in the past. She watched, amber eyes gazing at the man as he walked away. All she gave in response to his apology was a quick nod and smirk before he was off towards the food tables. Luckily, the woman wasn't a picky eater in the least.
As he came back, Melanie grabbed her plate and looked it over. "Thank you so much." she said with a smile. Everything seemed to be perfectly fine. She dug into the deviled eggs first, as those were one of her favorite things. She popped one whole in her mouth and began to chew. "Mmm." she muttered as she nodded her head and gave the man next to her a look and smile, holding her fist to her mouth.
As he asked the question of her profession, she raised her eyebrows. That's true, she hadn't really explained her profession; but then again, she didn't know that telling him why exactly she was here was the best idea. Interviewing Raevans and Guardians for the Gaia National was probably not the highest thing on their list. It wasn't as though she would use names, per se, but she decided to be slightly aloof on the subject. Taking a sip of the wine, she cleared her mouth of all debris and spoke, "I'm a writer. I love my work; but it just tends to take up a lot of my time these days." she said, trying to change the subject and bring it back to him. "What about you, handsome? Country guy like you, I wouldn't be surprised by anything." she asked, taking yet another sip of wine.

(( Cruz: Food Tables --> Axel & Isobel ))
The frei waited, craning his neck to peek at anyone nearby who heard his call but it seemed his voice hadn't carried far enough. Only one turned to him and he couldn't help but smile at Revontulet in return. He was glad she was here and he definitely intended to meet up with her later. Maybe she would enjoy the games that were going to happen.
No one else stepped up, so Cruz pulled the pamphlets back to his half-chest and floated a little further in. His emerald gaze stopped short at a familiar head of voluminous black hair he hadn't seen in so long. Axel! His eyes widened further, mouth dropping, as he took in the frei with her. Was this the one? He had seen her soul bottle and essence. As if hypnotized, the croc unblinkingly floated nearer. He remained silent for a moment, just observing even as he stopped close enough to be noticed.
"Axel," Cruz rumbled, a smile in his voice though it hadn't quite met his face yet.
(( Anita: Kitchen w/ Ronan, Henry, Mordekai | food roll ))
Another mouthful of cornbread stopped an immediate response to Henry's question. Anita's eyes lit up and she nodded quickly as the man reached out for a greeting and, other hand no longer impeded by pamphlets, Anita enthusiastically reared her arm back and took hold of Henry's with a resounding slap of their palms. She shook once, twice, firmly and then released just as Ronan and Mordekai got to talking about the fish.
"I'm--"
"Anita, Anita-- Anita, we need th'Old Bay!"
She pointed her thumb back at Mordekai, who took the liberty of introducing her without even meaning to. Anita laughed once she finally swallowed the cornbread -- her piece was half gone now -- and raised a finger apologetically to let Henry know she'd be returning to their conversation momentarily.
"Mordekai, Mordekai-- Mordekai, you grab two beers. We're steamin' these bastards," she peeked over at the water filling the tub and quickly turned the faucet back off. They weren't going to need much water with the beer doing the rest. "It's Gambino, they damn well better have some Old Bay in here. We need vinegar, too--" Anita held the rest of her cornbread in her mouth and started scouring the kitchen, pulling open cabinets and rifling through drawers for a bottle of white or apple cider vinegar and the only suitable crab seasoning. Within a few moments the vinegar was found and set aside but the Old Bay was choosing to remain elusive.
"Craaaap," she groaned, knelt in front of a lower cabinet with both sides wide open, "Either it's hiding from me or they've failed us again."

[[ Thanatos | Bonfire | Melanie ]]
Ah! A writer, well that made sense he supposed. A writer never really had much time but to write and they dealt a lot with other people in the business. Deadlines to be had. He could understand but there was no way he could relate, he'd never wrote a book in his life. Reading on the other hand...!
He arched a brow as she turned the question on him causing him to stop mid bite when he reached for his ribs. That wasn't a hard question to ask so he dove in. "Well, I'm always around kids and you know I like music. So it isn't hard to guess that I own a music school." He gave her a moment to digest that information as he took a drink from his beer. "Actually, I run the school from my home. Too many empty rooms for just three people living there." he trialed off with a slight chuckle. "I got my business license did the whole jumping through hoops and all to get the place working ready and opened the doors probably a few months ago. It's fairly new, classes are good and the kids love it." He allowed his gaze to shift toward his charge. "So does Domo, he's taking up playing the cello with a fellow Raevan. Aside from that if I'm feeling up to it, I freelance my piano talents to upscale night clubs for a price. Extra if they want me to sing." Which he didn't really like doing but it seemed folks enjoyed his soft country tone. He shrugged and took bite of his rib.

(( Zul → Seating with Ethiriel, Cesc and Melisande ))
He was about to reply to Ethiriel when Cesc's greeting grabbed his attention, turning his blue eyes to his dear friend. A smile blossomed over his features to see the stag - in the company of the beautiful Melisande, no less - gently drumming his fingers against Ethiriel's hand on his arm in a happy manner. "Cesc, Melisande," he greeted them both warmly in turn. "You've both met Ethiriel? That makes things easier. These are two of my dearest friends." His explanation was mostly meant for the female Frei at his side, but he did not mind that the other two would hear his small confession; it was hardly a secret. "They're two of the strongest individuals that I know -- and thank you, Melisande. You look as stunning, always the picture of perfection."
He did not miss the way his fellow Sigel separated from the stag to invite them closer, but he could not do so in good conscience; he wouldn't even embrace Cesc as he had in the past, for fear of public consumption of actions had been quite ingrained in him. Zul didn't know if Melisande had told anyone about their arrangement, or if she even wanted it to be known, such as Rivener had kept them secret for years...and so, instead of indulging in what he wanted for greeting these two dearest to him, he smiled just a touch less with his eyes and bowed his tri-horned head to both of them instead. "It does my heart well to see you both. Are you enjoying yourselves? Partaking in the games?"

((Melanie --> Bonfire | Thanatos))
Melanie's eyes widened. A musician and teacher? That was rather surprising. "Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that. But it must be fun to be around the kids and music twenty-four seven." she paused a moment to gather her thoughts and digest the information. So he could sing, play instruments, and got along with kids?! This man seemed to be out of a dream for her. Romantic, good looking, kind, sweet, and a musician. Some of the main qualities she needed a man to have to ever think about actually dating him. She had completely stopped eating for the time being and just took a sip of wine.
"So, let me just take a guess and say that you can play most any instrument, then? Do you have any other teachers to help you, or do you do it all alone?" she questioned, very interested in learning more about this little business he owned and operated.

[[[ Thanatos | Bonfire | Melanie ]]
He had to admit being snatched from his mother had given him some great talents. It didn't mean he liked the initial idea of what his father had planned but he had turned out to be a well rounded individual. Money bought a lot of things it appeared he still didn't have what he truly wanted however. "Well I can play the cello, violin, piano, and saxophone. This I learned abroad a sort of defiance against the old man but in the long run he's come to understand my love for music." Taking another drink of his beer and digging into his mac n' cheese he allowed for a lull in conversation to gather his thoughts. When he was composed and ready to speak he told her more, "When I was young I could pick up an instrument and go to town. As I got older instruments that I used to like didn't interest me any more. I'm still no good with the drums and I'm only now learning the bass guitar." He smiled tugging at a stray hair that fluttered from the soft breeze. Tucking it behind his ear he went on. "The school is run with volunteers and some employed music instructors. For the most part I have a class on my own with the really little kids, just getting them used to music. They play with our less expensive equipment and later we fit them with their own once they are comfortable with an instrument they like." He looked off in thought. "I had some classes today but I cleared my schedule so I could come here." Returning his gaze to Melanie he smiled. "Glad I did."
Leaning forward he poked his fork in the mac n' cheese but didn't eat. "So what kind of writing do you do? Do you think I may have come across any of your work?" he questioned, realizing how good she was at steering the conversation. He was curious about that but left it alone for now, everyone was entitled to a few secrets.

[[Revontulet > Tati & Luka // Food Roll]] As the newbown looked to her, as if for guidance, the aurora gave a somewhat startled but warm smile and nod of her head. Many people returned compliments to one another, back and forth like a ping-pong ball being shuttled across the small table. Just because it had always been Ren's preference to give out compliments when they felt most sincere, and not simply because someone else was prompting her, did not mean she should be rubbing those opinions off on the Hamsa.
"Yes, this is true. I can hardly elaborate on a story of how we met...seeing as how she simply called my name and I was there...err...here, actually," Revontulet added, sweeping her hand out to the side to motion to the general area of the party. Not exactly a story to be singing from the rooftops on a grand scale.
A little flutter of her wings showed the irritation the aurora felt at having to be 'watched' by Troxel, though he was doing a grand job at not hovering like Doucette would have. Lips parting, Ren would have made a comment on the whole arrangement, mostly in agreement with Tatiana, but she was interrupted but the very warm greeting Luka was giving the other orange-ish frei, starting a whole new thought process rolling through her mind.

((Melanie --> Bonfire | Thanatos))
Melanie took another bite of her food as she listened to the man speak. Versed in many instruments was a really sexy thing. The fact that he was learning another was amazing as well. The woman had always been fond of the violin and piano, however, so the fact that he knew how to play those two well was a great asset.
She listened intently, taking in all of the information he was giving her. So he had other instructors to help him, but that was still great that he was teaching his students something. Owning a business must have been hard work, but rewarding if it's something one enjoys doing. As he finished with the Glad I did. remark, Melanie blushed a bit and smiled, looking down at her plate. This man just knew a way to a woman's heart. He's probably done his fair share of breaking them in his lifetime.
When he asked about her writing, all she could do is look over at him and smile. Looks like she might as well come clean. "I actually work for the Gaian National Newspaper. I have a column that I write in each week. They tell me that I can write about anything I wish and so I do. Generally, it's about people's rights or some interesting news topic that has occurred that week. I'm an advocate for peace and equality, so my writings tend to stay on the political and emotional side of man's rights. Aside from that, I'm in the process of writing my first book, entitled: We Are Equal. Well, that's the nickname for now, until I can think of something better." she finished with a smile, looking at the man to see how he would react to it all.

((Wasa - Craft Table| Lulu))
"Thanks!" She smiled, running one of the fuzzy stems through her fingers to smooth a kink as she tried to pull her mind out of imaginary corridors and rooms in the building beyond. It did little good to picture herself looking for something she did not know in a place she had never seen.
There was a second compliment, she remembered now, and the artist bobbed her head graciously. "Thanks. I suppose it's what I do." She turned the little gastropod over and rubbed a fingertip over the oblong spiral that made its 'foot.' "I make things. Any sort of thing." She lined it up with the others and drummed her fingers on the table once, debating how much more she could do before she threatened to monopolize both the table and the Raevan. "If you ever find yourself in the mood for a buffet, there's a little bit of everything at my place."

(( Isobel -> Food Tables / Luka & ))
Isobel returned the hug with a smile that couldn’t leave her lips. “It has been. I have been well; Axel has been rather busy lately.” Which meant she couldn’t go out and do as many things as she’d like to. “Axel’s is there talking to that green Frei.” Isobel turned in the direction her guardian was so Luka could see. She didn’t know the other Frei and she peered over at them curiously. “How have you been? I just came by to say hello.” She wanted to meet the other Raevan that was speaking to Axel now. Hadn't her Guardian once spoken about a green Frei she’d met? Was this him?
------------- ( Axel -> Food Tables / Cruz ))
Embarrassed by the accident Axel moved on, she’d decided to go say hi to Luka as well when a voice caught her attention and she turned. “Cruz!” She hadn’t seen him since… since before Isobel was even born really. “It’s so nice to see you! I’d give you a hug but my hands are a little full.” She wasn’t too sure she could maneuver a hug with both plates I n hand without spilling anything on either of them. “How have you and Anita been doing? It’s been such a long time.”
