The mirror was the next to catch his eye - which made sense, considering it was the last remaining door on this floor - and Thackery cautiously stepped inside.
Only to be met with multiple Thackeries, each a little different. He laughed and reached out to touch one of them, frowning when he met the surface of the mirror instead of a puppy.
One was a child, and another was sad, and another wore his prom outfit, and another was a king...
As he peeked around the corner, he saw even more Thackeries. What kind of room was this?
It was the king who stepped forward, arms extended towards him.
"Are you trying to leave me?" he asked, eyes narrowed, and it was evident in his expression that he already knew the answer to this.
"N..no, I...it's just..." Eyes wide, he took several slow steps backwards before turning and breaking into a run.

In his haste, Thackery wasn't paying close attention to where he was going, and went crashing into a mirror. An adolescent Thackery silently screamed and moved to another mirror just in time.
This universe's Thackery was not quite so lucky, however; he stared down at his arm, which was now visibly bleeding.

His mind was on the cut on his arm and he wandered slowly as he tried to apply pressure, feeling a little woozy.
It was unsurprising when he ran into a dead end. Still, he whined when he turned back around.

"Hey!" giggled Thackery, five years old. "You're goin' the wrong way, dummy! C'mon!"
He took Thackery's hand and guided him in the right direction before slipping into another mirror.

Thackery missed five-year-old Thackery. His ears drooped.
"Come baaaaa--" he whined, but before he could even finish his sentence, the puppy was there again.
"Oh my Jack, you're so silly! Don't be such a dumdum! Let's goooo!"
He moved awfully fast for someone with such tiny legs.

As soon as the child left him, Thackery found himself unsure of his directions again. Was he supposed to go straight, and left, and...oh, he didn't know. He leaned against a mirror to rest, but fell through instead. Well, he'd found the way out, he guessed. The gargoyle at the end asked him if he liked the new bathroom, and he gave it an incredulous look. " Bathroom?" Wow, he'd never make it in time! The gargoyle appeared somewhat ashamed, but still handed him a key. successful turns: 4 health: 3

Down the stairs again. Thackery noted that there were a couple of doors on this floor he hadn't tried yet. Might as well! The room was a stark contrast to one of the earlier rooms that was way too bright for his eyes, covered in darkness on darkness on darkness. He frowned. Why was it so dark in here? The gargoyle that spoke to him was kinda cute (they had similar hair!) but really sad. "I don't wanna use you..." he insisted, and when he opened his mouth to say anything more, out came: It's too lonely here
even with a hundred minipets
it doesn't fix that you're gone
and I don't know what to do without you.
So I sleep by the fireplace
and hope it makes me feel
as warm as you did
but it still doesn't fix that you're gone.
And sometimes I look at myself
and kiss the face that you left
and hold the me that doesn't know you
and it's the only thing that helps
'cause you're gone....what had he just said? He was dumbfounded as the gargoyle placed the key into his palm, and he left without another word.

Thackery skipped the screeching door for now and jumped down the next set of stairs, somehow deciding that the screaming door was better than the screeching one.
A whole lot of pointy things awaited him, and he almost turned back and noped right out, but she said she'd make it worth his while, and...
...that probably meant keys!
He didn't start out very strong, as the wall he leaned on while he tucked all of his current keys into his pocket was not very sturdy at all. And falling into glass was really painful, he learned.

Then rocks fell on him while he was still on the glass.

Thackery was all the way at the bottom again, so he supposed he should work his way up instead of down. Made sense, right?
The first door he tried provided him with the prettiest pool he thought he'd ever seen (which wasn't saying much, considering his lack of memory about any other pool he'd ever seen).
He hopped into the pool as soon as he knew he could and began to splash around. He lost his scarf and found it much easier to swim like this, though he was still definitely doggy paddling.

All the splashing and wiggling around caused him to lose his pants.
It was a good thing he was wearing underwear (which was covered in key print).

Even though it was a lot easier to swim without pants, he had jumped into the pool a little hastily. He got a cramp and howled in pain, giving the gargoyle a pleading look.

Somehow Thackery managed to lose his shirt.
He had the odd feeling about something called 'fanservice' but kept on swimming. It was even easier now!
