It seemed he was not to succeed today, either. He saw the steam coming before it hit him - and he had not understood that sentence until now; it was an inevitable thing and there was no way Sarviur could have dodged. Steam to the eye was painful!
He was outside the Forge again, unharmed.

She was back again, and hopeful that her experience would be more like her second attempt as opposed to her first. Only one way to find out, though.

In either case, it soon became evident that this was not going as planned. With a sigh, she was forced to retreat for now.

As Shaw explored the Spire a second time, he came upon a series of tunnels that lead ever downward. His first sign that he was approaching something new was the heat - at first, just a slight warmth, but it grew into a pressure that caused the air to distort and made his clothes feel suffocatingly uncomfortable.
The room, when he finally came to it, was breathtakingly huge, and he paused for a moment to take it all in. It looked dangerous, but then, wasn't most of this world dangerous?
He continued his descent.
The first platform he came upon seemed to hold various dangerous looking gadgets, that whirled, spun, and shot jets of flame into the air. Shaw had to run past, getting singed more than once before making it safely to the other side.

The next room, in contrast to the rest of the giant cavern, was freezing. Shaw huddled in his coat, taking a few moments to look around. Various bits of machinery littered the floor, and he was careful not to trip over them. At the far size of the room, a giant refrigeration unit seemed responsible for the sudden temperature change.
His teeth clattered together. It had to be well below freezing. If he didn't shut the thing off soon, he wasn't likely to make it to the other side.
Hefting a decent sized cog, he flung it into the cooling machine with all his strength. It let out a satisfying clatter, and with a series of screeching clunks and jamming machinery the fan slowed and finally stopped.
He made his way across.

The final obstacle in the room looked like something out of a sci-fi movie - if Shaw had known what a sci-fi movie was. It was cruel, impossibly alien, and very much offline.
He put a hand to it's surface, and jerked back almost immediately. The thing was burning hot.
