Jordan got a very pleading look from Mimsy upon his resurfacing, which was followed immediately by her shaking her head at Robert's response (and maybe a little at the nickname, too). She continued trying to stretch towards the edge of the pool until she found herself close to his face again; the wiggling stopped, and she tried to catch her breath, as if she were a toddler whose tantrum had just been interrupted. "Well." She scrunched up her nose. "None of that is going to happen, because I am almost entirely certain that I cannot learn to swim in one minute, and I am going to lend you my leggings, not stockings." There was a difference. With that established, she managed to get close enough to the edge to pull herself onto solid ground again, where she kicked off her boots, worked her way out of her heavily soaked coat, and peeled off her leggings, which were handed to Robert as instructed. "Enjoy."

"You can teach her to swim later, dude." Jordan patted Robert on the shoulder. He looked to Mimsy. "The main factor in human buoyancy is lung capacity," he said helpfully, "and even people with natural negative buoyancy can learn to use that to stay afloat. You should try a wetsuit. Neoprene's got bubbles in the material, and that helps."

Reluctantly, Robert had to concede to Jordan's wisdom and let Mimsy go. He sighed, but snatched up the leggings quickly and shoved them underwater to attempt to put them on. Underwater. "Fine, okay, jeez, fine. You just chill out here, I'll go win this ********' race, but when I come back.." He pointed two fingers to his eyes, and then pointed at Mimsy. "You and me are gonna dance." He was not giving up on it. Everybody should know how to swim. Everybody! Besides, what if she fell in a pool or the ocean and he wasn't around? Clearly nobody else had the ability to save people like Robert did. With a very painful snap, the leggings were now on Robert's body. They only reached up to his knees... and the crotch area was way too tight.. but at least Simon had stopped pointing his gun at him. "We ready to do this, boss?"

Mimsy was taken aback when Jordan not only gave her legitimately helpful advice - he actually deterred Robert's stubborn attempts to make her swim right now. Impressive. "Thank you. I will take that into consideration," she said, raising her eyebrows and offering him a tiny smile. In the meantime, it appeared that Robert had somehow managed to put on wet leggings underwater, which was admittedly impressive in its own right. Not that she'd ever tried, but it couldn't have been easy. "Fine." She gave him a halfhearted thumbs-up and slid back towards the pool to dangle her feet in the water. Kind of refreshing, even if it was incomparable to caffeine. "'Orion Nebula' is definitely your color. And good luck, or whatever." Her gaze wandered towards the door as she weighed the option of leaving in the midst of the distraction with the consequence of Robert probably finding her and dragging her back into the pool.

Jordan nodded to Mimsy, giving her an easy smile. Then he turned back to Robert and clapped him on the back, grinning. "Ready when you are. I'm gonna kick your a**." His smile faded a little as he remembered something, and he looked around for Rep. His fiance was a good swimmer, but this was an inter-division competition; would Rep feel like competing for Life division?

Jordan had him up and moving almost instantly, despite the fact he was now wearing way-too-tight leggings that were starting to make parts of him really uncomfortable. That did not stop him from getting to the edge of the pool, hopping up onto one of the little low diving boards, and diving off to get a head start. Maybe someone was keeping count, he didn't know. But he was counting in his head, as he powered through the water, using way too splashy strokes as giant legs and giant arms careened with the water's surface over and over. He wasn't necessarily made for streamlined swimming, but he got the job done. And being big enough to hit the other side of the pool hard and kick it as he flipped underwater. The pool wall cracked where his foot slammed it. He wasn't the fastest, and he wasn't the slowest - but he made it with time to spare. Nobody better get near him after a moment like that, he was a little too hyped up from thinking he was winning. TIME: 32 seconds

Inter division competition meant one thing and one thing only, he'd be competing for the division he was in right now, which incidentally was Life. They'd taken him in, he owed them whatever effort he could muster up. But it didn't mean he could really motivate himself to go all out, guilty that he was competing against the very person he spent most of his time wanting to impress.
As he moved to the start line it was with a sense of resignation, he just had to compete and that was it.
Swimming was his favourite thing to do that wasn't being a d**k and or fighting anyone and everyone, and even laid back it showed in the confidence of his front crawl and the fluidity of his flip into the return lap. The whole time his earring blazed twice as bright as usual in response to the water.
When he got to the finish he didn't look at anyone.

Roland watched as Rep took the lead in the competition, being a Sun hunter formally, and having seen the other hunter swim before Roland was hardly shocked at his time. 20 seconds was going to be nearly impossible to beat. Still he took a spot on the edge of the pool before diving into the water.
He was small, slim, and the dive was his strongest point, for a few seconds he slid through the water easily before breaking surface and powering into the lap. He wasn't built like a sun, but knowing Rep's time drove him to try harder as he hit the wall, a flip and a push later he was shooting back the other way.
When he was finally done he hauled himself out of the pool looking at his time with a frown. He turned to Rep, "Was I really that slow?"

When it was Jordan's turn, he dived cleanly into the water and kept up a steady pace, using the crawl stroke. The other end of the pool came up more quickly than he'd expected, though, and he flubbed the turn badly, losing more time than he liked in the process. When he surfaced and got a look at his time, he shook his head, looking dissatisfied, and hauled himself out.
He had at least managed to beat Robert's time. That was something for his pride.

If there was one thing about the sudden cafe pool, there wasn't that many lanes to it. not to mention Robert's carb loaded behind took up a few of them when he was flailing like the douchebag of the sea he truly was Leon was going to continue to wait patiently at the side of the pool, dripping water in rivulets down his cargo shorts that became more of a soggy, charcoal color than the light grey it was beforehand. The idea of himself becoming a competent swimmer was enough to make the life hunter scoff, someone with his build was not made to swim fast. "This is a mummers farce, i'm going to get such a bad time." he muttered with a sigh, but there was Robert, flailing his way back to the starting block, and once the man had his moment touching the edge of the pool Leon took a dive in. What he lacked in grace, the life hunter tried to made up for in power, trying to cut through the water by the circular motions of his arms. The fingers grasped the edge of the block first before the toes and the kickoff had a bit of spin to it, he was twisting to face the roof of the building, giving the group a fair show with the backstroke.. Hello pecs, abs and happy trail on the water, and it was over as soon as he touched the wall on the other side, completing his lap. It was time for a blindfolded victory dance, and gave up, mid pelvic thrust Total time: 31-3= 28

Dakota was a pretty strong swimmer, at least he thought he was. As everyone took off to do their laps, He positioned himself on the dive board. Adjusted his goggles (where did those come from) and took off with a fluid dive.
He didn't even surface for air until 3/4's of the lap length in before coming up to stroke his way into the finish.
And he was certainly smug about it too...

After Jordan and Rep had both wandered back to the room to get swimsuits, Harrison had decided to join them.
He just hadn't expected them to head towards the cafeteria.
B0nez wasn't exactly water-friendly, so he set his exercise bag on one of the cafeteria (pool?) chairs, and tested the water with his foot. He liked swimming, sure. It was just if the Life Division was responsible, there was no telling what was in the water.
Allan appearing was a relief.
It also explained the pool location.
He grinned and stretched at the mention of a Division competition. Rep knifed through the water, happy and in his element, and Dakota racked up a nice run for Moon. Harrison hadn't been on any teams, he'd always been into baseball, and had zero coaching on rules as far as jumps, turns, whatever.
While not fast, Harrison had a very safe swim.

Quote: Bittiface rolled 9 6-sided dice: 4, 4, 4, 5, 1, 6, 2, 4, 2 Total: 32 (9-54) OMITTING Bittiface [[Full Hunter - Death Division]]A swimming Competition? Crap. Otto was a God-Awful swimmer. He knew enough to swim from point A to Point B, but wasn't strong enough of a swimmer to do a damn race. However... the spirit of competition compelled him. Death Division was all about suffering, and now maybe a pool. Suffering and Pool. Pool. However, the folly of the last so called competition with the promise of an amazing new dorm room was not forgotten. That had been a lie, and this could very well be too. But hey, why not. He probably wouldn't look the most foolish out of this lot. So Otto started his lap with a slow start, his obvious lack of any real swimming lessons showing in his so called style. It could very well be a long lap... ((Re Rolling in Next Post))
