He took a breath, reminded himself to just relax and let things flow because that was how dating worked, and moved onto clearing up leftover blueberries that were crushed onto one of the counters, Gale grabbing a paper towel and holding it under the faucet for a few seconds to get it damp.

"I actually knew that about yellow roses," he said, tossing a glance at Stormy over his shoulder. "Someone from my mum's work gave her some one day after work or something, they were quite lovely."

His cheeks pinked a little. "She said they matched my hair."

Slightly embarrassed that he had just said this voluntarily, Gale hastily busied himself with finishing up with the blueberries - at least until he heard that very awful pun from her. Slowly Gale turned around, hands on his hips, and raised an eyebrow at her.

"That," he said. "was awful. You are terrible."

But he was smiling, and he wiped his hands on the paper towel as he walked towards her, leaning over her. "You're not gonna be a vegetable anytime soon, copy that Watson?" he said, tossing the paper towel in the rubbish bin. "Also, I think we're just about done here..."

A balled fist struck the air in triumph at his disgust. Bananananananza, Gale.

"That must have been a nice surprise! Very generous of them. I just bet they did match, considering it's a very lovely shade of gold~" she cooed, balling up the last dirty paper towel to toss in the trashcan. "My mom used to work at a shop that sold arrangements--not just flowers, but edible ones too like fruits and stuff--so that's why I know a little. There was a chart and everything she kept around just in case she forgot, and I'd sneak peaks at it for my stories."

Stormy scanned the room for spots they missed, but it looked satisfactory in cleanliness now; it gave her a modicum of comfort, like a breath of fresh air. "I wouldn't want to be a veggie either--all green and producey and oh look people like to eat me no thank youuuuu." She felt Gale lean closer and carefully pivoted to face him, gazing intently at his face. "Although . . ."

With gentle hands she brought his face down and pulled up to the tips of her toes and pecked his nose, patting his cheek afterwards as she flattened back out. "Missed a spot~" Stormy explained with a grin, though whether there had ever been dried smoothie or other fruit byproduct there would be a mystery.

"It's too bright," Gale mumbled, tugging at a lock of his own hair. Granted, it had lightened a little with time, but sometimes he still felt as though it were too yellow, too blonde. "My mum worked at a library," he said. "Not for very long, though, she stopped once Le...once my sister and I got a bit older."

He cleared his throat a little, trying to suppress the sudden rush of memories that had come sweeping in, and gave Stormy a half smile that probably wasn't very convincing. "No, green and producey certainly doesn't suit you," he said dryly, still standing over her because a selfish part of him liked invading her space deliberately.

A selfish part of him that, when he felt her hands against his face, suddenly twisted with nerves, Gale's stomach fluttering as she kissed his nose, her fingers gentle against his cheek. He smiled down at her, and then laughed quietly, reaching out to pull her into a hug.

"I'm sure I missed lots of spots, but thank you for being so attentive."

"Details, Gale. Everything is in the details~"

But his pause made a thought occur to her: Here she had been joking about vegetables, when Leslie essentially was one. Something cold grabbed her heart at the realization, for while Gale hadn't seemed to pick up on it, she was now thoroughly aware of how insensitive that sounded in retrospect.

"I-It's not too bright at all," Stormy mumbled as he hugged her, keeping her hands to herself and folded at her stomach but still instilling a cheery tone to her voice. "It's just the right shade. Outside, while I was on the ground? You were sitting over me in just the right way so that when the sun reflected off your hair, it looked like you had an aura of light. Or a halo. And I had this delirious thought while my head was spinning that you sort've looked like the sun itself? Like when you fought off my last attack, it was white and gold versus black and purple, day and night, and it was very bright outside thanks to the mist reflecting sunlight and all . . . This analogy would've been perfect if you were in Sun," she added sheepishly.

His face was now flushed with pleasure, Gale feeling stupidly happy at everything Stormy was saying. It was ridiculous and he was probably just unused to having someone like her, which was why his emotions seemed to be going on a roller coaster ride up and down rather than staying settled.

Stupid, he told himself, because he was getting too worked up over this. Focus.

This was not easy, all things considered, and Stormy calling him the sun was not really making things better - or rather, it was, and it was simultaneously making it harder to resist the urge to kiss her right then and there.

Gale's arms tightened around Stormy's shoulders momentarily, and then he leaned back, a hand against the side of her face. "I think that's probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me," he said gently, and laughed softly. "Why are you so bloody amazing? My goodness."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 06, 2013 11:21 pm

"Me?" She wore a patient expression and a little smile to accompany it, the look of one who had gone through that particular question before. "Not me. To follow the analogy, I'm more like the moon: I don't give off my own light, just reflect it from something else. People in general have this issue of not seeing how good they are on their own, or get bogged down by problems, so I feel like it's my job to help them see past all of that and realize the sort of amazing people they already are, in this way or that. What you see, Mr. Beatles Singing Fruit Fighting Winner, is not just my happiness, but yours too~"

It was deflection on multiple layers, to the point that she that she was rather proud of the solid symbolism of something that was innately changing by nature.

"That's also why I started singing that song too, by the way. So now you know there's sometimes a method to my madness--or chaos if you prefer~" Ignoring the pangs from her bruise on the other side, she leaned her head a little into his hand, closed her eyes, and sighed quietly.

"So now all we have to do is transfer divisions, and we'll be able to fulfill everything super romantically, of course."

"It was a rhetorical question," said Gale stubbornly. "And you can't try to convince me otherwise, as I am a very headstrong individual. And I'm pretty sure that's the pot calling the kettle black," he added, with a stern look. "I don't think you see just how good you are most of the time, Miss Analogy Making Snow Dog Making Second Winner."

He was teasing, of course, but there was a definite note of truth to what he was saying. Gale softly brushed a thumb alongside Stormy's cheek, his smile gentle. "Your chaos is what makes me happy," he said.

He smoothed a bit of hair away from her face. "Nah. I think we can fulfill everything super romantically just fine on our own, can't we? Besides, if we changed to Moon and Sun division, we'd be Bix and Ceres - they're Moon and Sun."

Gale grinned. "So we'll just make our own love story, shall we?"

"Aaah, there's no such thing as rhetorical to me. If you ask me a question I have a compulsion to answer it, if not with an explanation then with another question~ Do go ahead and be stubborn, Sunny," Stormy said with a grin, trying her very best not to blush at the motion of his thumb. "And I will just be me, as you like it." Her words were still light like they were still joking, even though she heard that truth in Gale's words--it was because she didn't know how to handle compliments other than to look like a blushing idiot that she did as much. More deflecting.

She hummed in thought, opening one eye as he brushed at her hair. "Bix told me about that, and it is super romantic...But I suppose we could be just as much as..." She had to pause to remember what the name for Death and Mist was. "...Miasma. Or Poison."

Cue snickering. Super romantic.

"Doesn't quite have the same ring as Eclipse~"

"Good to note for future reference," said Gale, still absently smoothing a hand down the side of Stormy's face, his fingers trailing over her cheek in an almost thoughtful manner. He found a stray strand of hair and curled it around one finger. "And we won't get anywhere fast if we're both as stubborn as we are," he added, a bit dryly, a smile playing on his face.

A smile that rapidly turned slightly exasperated, Gale rolling his eyes. "We are not Miasma or Poison. That sounds...deadly."

Snickering a little, he swayed where he stood. "There has got to be a better name for it."

Stormy shrugged slightly, still grinning. "I wouldn't mind being called deadly, personally," she pointed out. "But if it helps, I'm not quite so stubborn on a lot of things--just certain things." Like getting a perfect kiss and waiting almost a month before actually telling him yes and not wanting to be in the spotlight even with her boyfriend.

"So!" Her eye closed once more, stifling a giggle because Gale's attentions to her face were starting to tickle for some reason. "We're slow, somewhat stubborn, and have a weird division mix name--great start! What about...Ninjas? Swift as death, hidden in the mists~ I even have a spy outfit from that mission Cap'n sent us on at the museum."

"Yes, you are the deadly Stormy," said Gale. "You just appear to be all sweet and pretty on the outside, but really on the inside, you're terribly strong and fierce."

She was wiggling her face against his hand, Gale moving to poke her cheek affectionately. "Ninjas is so overused though," he said. "We could be secret agents - I still have that uniform from that mission as well."

Reluctantly he dropped his hand and stepped away, though he slid his hand down her arm to grab her fingers.

"Come on," he said. "I'll walk you back to your room - you can get cleaned up and then we can go grab something to eat - if you'll join me, that is."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 07, 2013 5:59 pm

Stormy wore an odd smile at his statement, almost Cheshire even. She didn't even puff her cheek out when Gale poked it like she had before, instead diverting from one topic to another.

"Hmmm. 'Spyship'." Pause. "Wait no, Spy Kids!" Pause. "Spy Adults?" More pausing. "Okayyeahspiesthatsoundscoolletsdoit."

Pause.

"The spy ship, I mean."

Pause.

"Well, I mean, we are already, I meant let's do it more but with a real name this time, not that we didn't have real names before, and not that we need them to really move on, it's just cute I think, although my name technically isn't real or official or legal so that's sorta a notch on the wood, but a ship is a ship and my pirated name will go to it like a pirate ship, even though we're talking about spies, so I'll just be a pirate spy if that's okay with you."

She might have been distracted by the idea of Gale in a spy suit. Sheepishly she entwined their fingers while her other hand touched her hair, inwardly revolting at how sticky and matted it felt. "What, not waiting for our date?" Stormy teased as they walked.

Gale arched a brow, just waiting for Stormy to finish this particular line of thought before he said anything at all and trying not to drag her back into his arms and hug her because she was so damn cute. Instead he just nodded casually, biting back a smile.

"A pirate spy, is it?" he said, squeezing her fingers and absently swinging their hands back and forth. "I like the sound of that. Plus I never got to see you in your spy suit, so maybe I'd want to see that."

Gale cast her a sideways glance, amusement clearly evident on his face as he tugged her down the hall. "Oh, I'm impatient," he said. "There are a lot of things I'd rather not wait for, and our date is one of them, but alas, I must be patient and plan carefully so I can make it magical."

He turned his head to look at her, grinning, though his cheeks were a little pink, and he sounded a little shy. "Hopefully I'll do it justice."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 07, 2013 6:23 pm

Stormy laughed softly, because the thought of her wearing that outfit again was a little difficult to imagine--it was a little on the skin-fitting side and probably not good for a first date. "Maybe later~" she told him airily. "If you're good and do the first date justice and stuff~ Though I never would've pegged you as impatient at a first glance.

"'Magical' sounds great, though."
She gave him an encouraging smile, dumbing down her growing anticipation since it looked as though Gale would be putting forth a lot of effort in this, and it was getting kinda hard not to be excited. "But remember: Feel it, don't think it too much, okay?"

"I pretend I'm not impatient," Gale admitted, sliding his free hand into the pocket of his slacks. "I like to pretend that I'm all calm and collected, but honestly there are just some things that I am very impatient for in life. One was being promoted - and then now our first official date."

And with it hopefully our first real kiss, came the thought after, but Gale hastily shoved this aside, clearing his throat a little. "And I promise," he added, as they rounded the corner towards the trainee dorm hallway. "I'll just do my best to not overthink it and just...go with what can."
