C.J. smirked as he grabbed Misty and hoisted her on his shoulders, the wave coming . "A little nippy. Had I known I was gonna deal with a cold-hearted b***h, I'da gotten my jacket." he quipped as he prepped the surfboard. They only had seconds. "Hang ten and stay frosty, dudes!" he chirped as he caught the wave seconds before he and Misty turned a little too cold.
Laughing, C.J. caught the wave as the cops dove for shelter and they escaped. Sure, it was a little unorthodox, but what wasn't?!
"COWABUNGA, DUDES!!!!"

The woman whirled around as CJ and their target dove out of the van. She yanked the gun from the inner pocket of her jacket and aimed it at them. As the wave arrived, the woman's body began to frost over. The water froze before it even reached her, and formed a blockade against the rest of the wave. She fired at the two, aiming as much as she could for CJ. When the water became too much, she forced her ice barrier to re-solidify in front of her, creating a ledge for her to walk up and over the vehicles to get a better aim.

C.J. . . . when'd we learn to surf?!?
"Remember that CD that dude with the funny haircut gave us that one time?"
((Yeah! I remember him. Professor something. Walnut? Peach?))
So . . . wait, that's Professor OAK, stupid. You taught yourself Surf from an HM?! As in a Pokémon HM?!
"Nah, I was just ********' with ya. I picked up some tips from a few guys when PoV was takin' a hiatus."
((oOOOOoooh.))
Well, C.J. smirked as he heard the gunshots behind him as he road the wave to a halt and got himself and Misty around a corner. "*WHEW!* At least they haven't invented bullets that go around corners." he thought out loud as he untied Misty . . . shaking his head. "Boy . . . who'd you piss off to garter THEIR attention?!" he asked. Well, I already KNOW that . . . which reminds me. I need to make this switch so THIS time's C.J. is here while I get back to Merida! he thought.

Misty let out another grunt to try and reply through the tape. Having no luck, she waited until she could finally move her hands, and yanked the blasted thing off of her face. "Agh! Ow. I'll explain later." she said. The next moment, she wrapped her arms around CJ under his arms and held him tightly. Four long, black spider-like limbs sprouted from her back and latched onto the wall next to them. A moment later, they were both lifted off of their feet and moving up the side of the building. Very quickly, and very high. She wasn't about to stay down on ground level as long as that group wasn't in handcuffs and in the back of a squad car. The higher she was and the more out of reach she was, the safer she felt.
She... hoped CJ wasn't afraid of heights or anything. She didn't think she ever had the chance yet to ask. And she knew she hadn't done this with him before.
As soon as they made it to the rooftop, she set CJ down and let go of him.

C.J. hugged her back as he rode the way up . . . well, THIS isn't awkward or anything . . . how long do I put up this damn charade . . . I just hope Merida switches us back before something happens! he thought . . . as he went up . . .
. . . . and up . . . .
. . . and UP . . . and . . . GOD-DAMN! How tall is this stupid building anyhow?!?
"I think I can see Disneyland from here!!"
They made it to the top as C.J. noticed the spider legs. "Well . . . those always been there or have I not been payin' attention?" he asked. All he had to do was just keep up his act like he was three years younger for a little bit longer . . .

Misty looked back at her legs as she let them stretch out. "They... come and go as I need them. I think this is the first time I've had to get them out around you." she said. Then she turned back towards CJ and gave him a concerned look over. Her lips turned downwards in thought. "Are... you okay? What happened? You said you just needed to head to the restroom and never came back." she asked. He was wearing different clothes than before, he looked a bit scuffed, and... something was different. She couldn't put her finger on it, but something about him just seemed... wrong? Maybe that wasn't the right word, but something felt off.
" Well, guess we can get a little drama thrown in before CJ gets rescued. I mean, it's not like I'm some sort of horrid writer who thrives with plot twists and can't help but torture my own characters or something. No, then I might want to make things as tense and awkward as possible while I can. "
" .... "
And then the echo of cracking knuckles bounced across the fourth wall as fingers slid over the keyboard to lie in wait.

"Felt off?! No s**t, Sherlock. How d'ya think it looks like from MY end?!"
((Oooh s**t. I know what happens next!))
Aaaand the typing begins!
C.J. smirked. How did he field this one?! Then he felt his jaw . . . right . . . there was no right answer for this. Either fake that he had to piss like a racehorse for longer than a Peter Jackson movie or be honest: he went on a mission without her. Of course, at the same time, there was a reason he dropped her off at his favorite Mexican Restaurant in California . . . aside from the good food, he thought it was SAFE. HE was safe. After all, kinda hard for him to die. At least now he had Merida, do a little Hocus-Pocus and BLAMMO! Like another coin in the Arcade Machine called life! Did Misty have that?! The writer doesn't think so.
C.J. smirked as he tried to recap what happened. "Long story short, a funny thing happened on my way BACK to the table. Was washing my hands when I got ambushed by a certain katana-packin' chucklehead by the name of Lady Deadpool. She and I went to go settle a score for the Fates. Was NOT pretty (seriously. Zombies EVERYWHERE). However, I wasn't quite thinking that I'd come back and see the cast of Reservoir Dogs waiting for me." he drawled. Of course, in the back of his mind, there was a LOT of stuff burning. This was BY far the MOST awkward thing he had to do!

Misty's frown deepened as she listened to him. She sighed deeply and rubbed her arms. "I didn't think there would be either. This place is far away from... anyone that's after me. The people that were there were hired to keep a look out for me and... came to just the right restaurant to grab a bite to eat. I though when you didn't come back... I thought they might have taken you. Blackstone can be... overprotective. I suppose possessive would be the better term." she said.
Then she sighed again and moved towards him. Moving both arms out and wrapping them around his abdomen in a tight hug. "I'm just glad you're okay." she said as she placed her head against his shoulder.

"Blackstone, huh?" C.J. drawled. However, there was a bit of Darkness to his voice. Oh yeah . . . HIM. he thought. Oh yeah, if this was the Blackstone HE knew, he owed him PLENTY of grief. That dude was the one guy that knew how to send him spiraling into an alcoholic stupor, deep depression and scars he could STILL feel.
And he did it right in front of him. He could still see it, bright as day. The wedding, beautiful in white. The cathedral in town that C.J. stumbled into after riding a freight train for part of the country. Dodging the law hot on his trail. The ghosts of his past. The ring he had saved up everything he had to buy. All that for nothing. And what hurt the most was seeing the girl that up until that white-hot moment was his WHOLE world. The mother to his stepchildren. The family he had . . . married to HIM. That arrogant, rich, b*****d! The very thought of him probably gloating at the fact that he took that poor kid's hopes and dreams and torn them asunder made him sick to his stomach. Probably for the better that the other stuff happened AFTER that.
Which made the whole huggy thing from his (later-to-be-former) girlfriend a wee awkward. He hugged her back. The warmth in her almost made him feel like he was three years younger. The kid who SHOULD be here.

"Yeah..." she said as she held onto the hug for a long few moments. "I... I don't think I've mentioned him yet. Not that we've had time to really sit down and talk yet." she said as she pulled him away. "He's... someone we should probably actually sit down to talk about too. More than Vandal or Fisk. They just either want to kill me or want the children. Blackstone... well it depends on what timeline he's come to this world from." she said. Then she sighed again. Nervousness touching her voice now.
"I'm not sure how much of my past history you know about. I know you said we've dated and I don't remember any of it. But..." she began.

C.J. looked at her. That stern look he had when she mentioned Fisk and Savage was in his eyes. With a gleam of fire in his eyes. That kind of fire he had when he stared death in the face repeatedly to pull her from the brink of destruction . . . or was it? Was it a taste of vengeance?
"I don't think I've met him before . . . but I got me a bad feeling that he's NOT a good dude." he said. Okay, so part of that was a fib. They met. OH HOW they met. The ensuing shootout made the paper . . . which when they put the band back together, was interesting how that gave them outlaw credit. Even Nashville was a little worried, and they tried to get notorious biker David Allan Coe!

Misty shifted. "It... no. No, he's not. It really depends on who you are or what you've done though. To most of the world he's a very good man. Charity, education, helping third world countries, that sort of thing. But... to those who cross him..." she began, then shifted again. " I suppose I don't have to explain that I'm among those that have crossed him. The difference with me though is... well he..." she continued, then didn't quite know how to explain.
And how could she? The people in the suits kept referring to her as Miss Blackstone. Which meant Blackstone came here from the timeline where they were still married. How did she explain that? And how did she explain... they never actually got a divorce. She just sort of left, and then all of this universal crap happened.
It... it didn't matter though, right? This was a completely different world. Maybe, maybe the marriage didn't count here. There couldn't have been any legal documents floating around or anything. Though, that didn't mean Blackstone couldn't MAKE there be some.
... she didn't have the courage for this right now. Not yet. "Well he's a bit more possessive about having me under his control." she explained. Though it sounded like it was only a vague reply to cover some bigger truth.

C.J. smirked. It was getting harder and harder to hold up the act that he was the C.J. from three years ago. I come from farmin' country, lady. Don't hand bullshit to a guy who knows both ends of a ********' COW! he thought in his head. His fist clenched. Oh, he knew Blackstone WELL . . . and the gleam in his eyes flashed with such hatred for Blackstone that he wanted to KILL the sonuvabitch . . . even though in a screwed-up, roundabout way, he was partially responsible for the band getting back together, his quick amorous hookup with Lady Deadpool and his current, happy relationship with Merida.
. . . nah, he still wanted to put a hole in Blackstone square between the eyes.
"Ya damn right! Dude RUINED my life! Then again, SHE didn't friggin' help! This is more awkward than the time I got a letter back from a girlfriend I thought loved me TWO YEARS after it happened."
((no really, that happened.))
"No s**t if he sent all those freakin' people after us! They still down there?!" he asked, looking over the side.

Misty frowned as he looked down over the edge of the building. The feeling that something was different about CJ nagged at her even more. He definitely seemed angry right now. Over what she wasn't quite sure. She didn't recall ever seeing him this way before. Even after he'd run back and forth all over the city trying to rescue her, he seemed more easy going than he was right now.
"I don't know. We should probably keep moving." she replied, her tone cautious. "Are you... alright?" she asked. Maybe the whole back and forth thing was finally getting on his nerves.

C.J. smirked a little. Now if that breeze was a little to the east I could drop an anvil down there and get what's-her-name from Blackstone's road agents. Nah . . . too messy. She's just on his payroll. he thought as he looked over at her.
"Well, aside from some stuff I know's gonna happen, I'm alright . . . lemme put it this way. You ever see 'Back to the Future?'" he asked as he smirked. Alright, time to let out the truth!
"Rather not ream her out. Don't wanna make it TOO rough for the me now. It's already gonna be s**t for him for a year or so. It gets better though!"
Speaking of, where the hell's Merida and the kid?!
