Stepping through the gateway, it would appear he was back in the Black Kingdom. He still was not sure how the portals worked, then again, he has never been to any other kingdom but this one. Perhaps it is the imagination that dictates where one ends up. Or the fact that he had followed other shadows through it. The world was dark again, his pupils wide, taking in as much light as it possibly could. Yet it felt starved of it. As far as he knew, the shadows that he was with appeared fine. Any others that were there or at the Valley or at the Maze was beyond him, and, honestly, did not particularly care at the moment.

Then it hit him, he knew how to win the King's favor. Yes! Yes! He had an idea and it would work. He simply had to get to the king first. Double strapping his pack over his shoulders, Uru ran up the grand stairs to the Dark Tower where the Shadow King resided.

As the humanoid Silver raced, he noted the other shadows ascending the stairs too. Others have returned as well, some appeared to have been here longer. If they were not present at the the chalice then... his information was valuable. As he entered the grand doors, he noticed a shadow talking to a much larger, noticeable shadow. This shadow was different from the rest. Darkness exuded it. That was the Shadow King. However, it was what his fine ears picked up.

Crap, someone already beat me to the punch...

The search in the tower wasn't a successful one, she really hadn't no idea of what happened besides she got more questions, about the seven kingdoms. Arynek didn't really know what she should do, she had no idea at all.

She wanted to cry, the tower was completely collapsed, there was no more a place called Silver Kingdom in the world. She really lost her home. Sorrow, sadness and overwhelmed feelings. What should she do? Would it possible that there was a legacy hidden in each kingdom? Should she tell the King?

She had no idea.

]The long return to the Tower gave Maple a lot of time to think, and even more time to dwell on how she had performed in the remains of the Silver Tower. She had not collected as much Miasma that she had desired, had been wounded and not even made it to the top. On top of that, she had managed to attack one of her own.

What a failure she was, so little to bring back, to prove that she was worthy of the Shadowlord. Maple pouted, ascending the stairs where the others were gathering and offering up their bounty to the Kingdom. She did have a key though, perhaps a useless yet old key to a now destroyed Kingdom would have a little bit of worth. She doubted it but it was worth a shot.

The Sun stopped to drink in the sight of her home. It was a comfort to come back to this land of gently shifting shadows, and though she'd been battered by the recent adventure in the Silver Tower, she couldn't help smiling. She'd managed to find some information, and a little miasma! It was a shame she hadn't made it to the top, though. She'd wanted to figure out the riddle the Tower had set those who'd entered.

As she walked toward the Black Tower, she pondered what little clues she'd managed to gather. An unfamiliar sight broke her train of thought, though. A gray figure moving about the shadows. Though her skin was dim by the other kingdom's standards, it still stood out to the Sun's eye. Curiosity piqued, she increased her stride until she pulled up alongside the person.

"Hello!" she greeted. "I don't believe we've met. I am the Sun. Who might you be?"

As she talked, the Sun looked the girl over, deciding she must have been in the Silver Tower, given how battered she looked. Wonderful! Perhaps they could compare notes!

Quote:
Name: The Sun
Kingdom: Shadow (Black)
Rank: Penumbral Paladin (Knight)
HP: 21/50

Description: The Sun is a petite Shadow in ornate armor, which glimmers from the golden light she seems to give off. Her head is mostly covered in a hood, save for the face, which is half-covered by a mask with the sun carved into its surface like a singular eye. The mouth beneath the mask is rarely seen without a smile.

Relatively unscathed, Amarus made her way home, to the Black Kingdom's tower. She went home, first: removed her armor, cleaned it, put it back on. Cleaned her meteor hammer, but kept it with her. She even emptied out one boot, to find a couple coins that must have gotten in when she was digging for weaponry in the lake.

Once she was ready to go, she picked those coins back up and pocketed them. They were so bright, unlike the other material of their Shadowy plane of existence. Amarus headed over to the tower, looking for Justice. She sat on top of the stairs where they had raced, and just... tried to relax.

She had an uneasy feeling bubbling up. If Silver had fallen, who was next? Amarus leaned against the wall, and closed her eyes for a moment.

Amrita fought to keep herself standing strong as she walked back to her Kingdom. The Eldritch Advisor was wounded, parts of her pitch black body burned and singed with an almost transparent shade of grey. She looked worse for wear, but she returned successful - more than successful. It was too important to wait, and she made her way straight to the Black Tower as quickly as she could, ascending the stairs with a sense of urgency and pride. She did have to pause a few times, to plant her back against the cold stone wall in an attempt to give her spinning head a bit of a rest.

She made her way past Amarus, the one seated on the stairs, and gave nothing more than a small glowing yellow smile before she continued on, the walk to the top seeming to take forever in her current state. Eventually she made her way to the top, her dim yellow gaze searching the darkness and shadows that surrounded them.

Finding Aymet was important, but the search of the area had her spotting Maple first, one of their Rooks. The wounded shade drifted closer to her, offering a weak smile.

"Dread Cleric...I was wondering if you'd be so kind and um, well..." She trailed off, her dimly glowing eyes casting down to her grey and transparent areas. Through the ringer and out again, hardly presentable to the King. "...I really need your healing hands. Please."

Aezeloth made his way into the tower - he walked tall and proud - well, as tall and as proud as he could being only at half his usual fighting strength. He hurt and he felt it still - even here at home. But still, it had been worth it to bring the Miasma home to his King.

He kept his chain on his wrist now, it seemed no need for it here. But still, he felt safer with it - times were strange now indeed.

One kingdom had fallen and the threat of another to come - who, then, would be next?

As he entered the tower, he found the stairs upon which they had been improving their martial prowess on prior to being sent their separate ways. He was gloomy and low - his thoughts on Judgement, hoping she had escaped uninjured.

He "brightened" considerably when he saw her sitting at the top of the stairs.

"JUDGEMENT!" He called up to her, taking the steps two at a time to meet her. "How fared the hunt?!"

Maple had been waiting her turn to speak with the King about her miserable findings, when she heard a voice call to her. She turned, surprised that someone was addressing her - someone other than Uru for that matter, whom she had mostly conversed with.

It was the Moon. And she looked terrible. Maple's mouth fell open with worry and she turned fully, attention at the ready. "A-a heal?" she repeated in question. From her? Maple's brows shifted in worry, wasn't there another Dread Cleric that would be a better choice?

Where the other one was, she was unsure. "A-alright," she mumbled. Oh, how she hoped this would work as she held out her hand, letting shadow slip from her fingers as if sand or water. The escape blackness began to shift and change until it formed itself into cloven beast with might horns and deep red eyes.

There were no commands, but a flick of her wrist and the Shade sprung to life and galloped around the two, leaving black lines in its wake. The lines shimmered as if magic was in play.

But nothing seemed to happen. And Maple's eyes grew with worry. "Aaa!" She nearly wailed, "nothing happened!" Of course it wouldn't.

"Please." The Moon replied, and smiled as the other Shade moved to do as she asked. "Thank you!" Relief was clear in her voice as Maple agreed, the dim yellow eyes watching the frolicking beast dance around them, waiting for the edges of pain to smooth and lessen. When it didn't come, she looked confused.

"Ah...it...it's okay!" Amrita insisted as patiently as she could, reaching out to place a pale hand on Maple's shoulder, offering what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "Try again, please!" She hurt real bad, but there was no use in getting angry; accidents happened, and it wasn't like the Cleric had failed on purpose.

She looked at the Moon, uncertain of what she was hearing. Their Eldritch Advisor needed healing, and she was okay with her failing in her attempt?

"A-alright," Maple sniffed. Perhaps with the Shade already summoned and having tried with the task before, it would have better results in what Maple wanted it to do. Was it having a difficult time transferring the shadows to the Shadow to help in the healing process. This shouldn't be too difficult. Though, this was Maple after all.

The little Shadow flicked her wrist again, concentrating harder to get the process to succeed. The Shade galloped again, almost like a little dance. Swirls of black around the two. But yet again, with no results.

Leaving The Tower looking utterly defeated. Her shoulders slumped and her lower lip quivered, "I-I'm Sorry, M-Moon." Urg, she was terrible! And even the Shade crossing behind her did nothing to help in her rising self doubt.

"It...it's alright." Moon sighed, pale fingers gingerly tracing the lines between the healthy black shade and the damaging grey. "That's enough for now, I'll look for the other Cleric." Hopefully she would do better...you know, actually heal? The Moon looked like she was going to turn and walk away, but instead she twisted to look at the Tower, studying her for a moment with still dimly glowing eyes.

"...But I suggest you figure it out before the real trouble starts." Amrita warned, her tone gaining only a slightly annoyed edge; it passed as quickly as it came, and a nearly transparent grey hand pat the other creature's head. "You will have better luck next time~"

( ENTERING )

He did not immediately returned to the king after venturing to the tower. The Hermit ran his thumb over the glowing swirls on his staff as he stood on a precipice, gazing out across the kingdom. The Silver Kingdom weighed heavily on his mind. The bright lights, the ruin: he couldn't help but to compare it to the kingdom that seemed to have been spread out beneath his feet from the ruined tower he was perched on. If the Silver Kingdom was covered in shadows, would it be the same as the one he called home?

Merope shook his head as he crouched down, kneeling on the ground. From within his robe he withdrew his tarot deck and shuffled it. Three cards were selected and placed face-down on the tower, the cards turned over one by one as he concentrated on his question.

Reverse Hierophant, Ace of Cups, Reverse Chariot. "Yes, the Silver Kingdom fell," he said as he touched the Hierophant. "And something good, and yet..." He stared at the reversed Chariot.

It then occurred to him that, Hermit or not, there was a King counting on him. And he currently wasn't there at the King's Tower where he was told to report back to. Merope snatched his tarot cards and touched the vial if miasma he had obtained, securing it. With a leap the Shadow threw himself off of the perch he stood on, picking himself off the ground as soon as he landed to sprint towards the nearest shadowy ribbon.

His form shifted, changing from the humanoid shadow to his beastial form. It is in this shape he swam down the sluggish shadow-river, moving from lake to lake until he arrived dripping wet back at the kingdom. He shed his preferred form here as he made his way towards the King's tower.

Merope stopped himself from entering. With a grimace he began to wring out his clothing, only belatedly realizing the error of his preferred travel method.

It was hard not to notice and watch as Amrita traced the damage done to her body, what she had failed to heal even after two attempts at the role their King had given her. It made her feel even worse. "I-I wish," was her meek little reply as she grabbed onto the brim of her hood like a safety blanket.

"I w-will try not to fail again," it was a hard promise to keep. It was the other aspect of The Tower, and her Name. She knew it wasn't an excuse, because she had been Chosen and had a job to do. She had to help her Kingdom to survive, and that mean getting better and doing her task. "I-I'm sorry," she added again before scooting off to a corner in her shame.

As their Queen passed her by on the steps, Amarus nodded in return, having nearly missed her passing altogether. She was worn out, really she was. But she would be fine; through all that they'd been through, it could be worse, could it not? She still couldn't shake the sinking feeling, however.

Judgement mustered up a smile for Justice as she heard him call out, however, and she rose to her feet. At least, even if she had hardly gathered any miasma for their beloved Kingdom, she had made it home to her sparring partner. "Well... I was nearly finished the tower, and it collapsed out from under me. Thought the fall would never end. There was a cavern, a chalice, a silver gate... To be honest, I don't really understand it," Amarus tried to explain, summarizing each point while counting them on her fingers.

"Oh! And I brought you something," she said, "before you go thinking that it's suspicious, I didn't do it on purpose, it was in my boot?" She just had to ruin the moment, naturally. She took the coins out of her shirt, where she had tucked them, and offered one to Justice. It gleamed like nothing their kingdom had to offer. "It's just a useless artifact, some old currency, but... for you," she said, with a shrug.

Judgement looked up the stairs, and then at Justice again. When she was sure no one was looking, she sort of hugged him with one arm, before becoming awkward and pulling away like it had never happened. "I didn't gather much Miasma... and I'm worried for our Kingdom," she admitted.

"We should gather everyone for stair racing. Not to train, this time. Just to have fun," she suggested, "I know we are a people built for Revenge, but perhaps we can relax, just this once?"

Nevena's grin split from ear to ear at Fortune's mirth. Really, it was terribly difficult finding one with the same sense of humor that she possessed. "If they weren't, well, we could make sport with them! I'm sure we could come up with something to keep ourselves busy." As well as make a name for the ferocity their kingdom commanded and earn the respect that it ultimately deserved.

"And we will ride to glory for our efforts." The Hierophant leaned back in her chair luxuriously, tilting her head back as though to study the ceiling. "Treasure and recognition beyond our wildest desires!"

Oh yes. A most fitting reward.
