"Excellent! I'm so glad to hear! Maybe we can.... sometime..." Jerry trailed off as Otto was called over to the group he got the distinct impression didn't like him and deflated, "Have another jam session," he mumbled to open air. "Thanks for the uke..." At least Otto was safe from him following.
He sighed, swirling his soda in it's glass. Maybe he should drag his piano down, or his guitar- at least providing background music he wouldn't have to talk to people and feel like the biggest a** in Deus.

"Oh, just some sparkling cider." Lex lied completely, smiling the whole time. Everyone needed booze on New Year's, legal or not. "Drink up, it tastes good...puppy." A sly smile at the last part. This, Otto, was why you didn't let Eva talk to Lex.
Turning his face to Gale, Lex grinned warmly at the Death Hunter. "Name's Lex, you were there when I woke up from the pods." His chirped, offering a hand to shake. "And you're quite right, beer is awful."

Considering his hands were a bit full, Wilson could only give Otto a half-nod. “Happy New Year!”
Too bad Wilson couldn’t see Gale’s look. He tried to twist his head to look at the other hunter better. “Well, if you insist,” he relented with a half-shrug. “You know, I keep forgetting you’re still under eighteen. You seem too mature to be under eighteen.” He looked over at his empty glass and attempted to awkwardly refill it with more champagne. “But I will agree with you about the beer thing.” Wilson could have answered Gale’s question, but instead he sipped on his drink while looking a bit like OvOkuromeez YOU SAW NOTHING @ LAST QUOTE

Earlier it was ok to deal with, not many people around and the irritation was mild. But more and more hunters streamed in, all waiting to celebrate the rest of the worlds new year. nothing but noise and revelry.
Leon would rather pass on the Nakama bullshit. Taking a tall stout glass out of the room seemed to be the better choice where he could drink in peace.

Ami's hand fell as Otto gave her a short wave before choosing to go to Lex's group. Oh.
It was unsettling. All of those people she liked, really she did ... she just couldn't bring herself to ... to ...
"I'm leaving," she told Marcus abruptly. "Watch Otto for me." That was an order, soldier. She eyed Lex as he gave Otto a drink of sparkling cider- that was okay. Sparkling cider was a good choice for Otto. She trusted Lex enough. "Happy New Year's Marcus."
A quick look at Wilson, then back to Lex, and finally down as she gathered her coat, making for the door.

Since it was New Years, Madeline had imagined herself pickpocketing a few bottles of red wine and staking it out in her room like a good antisocial little girl to watch baseball reruns and think about resolutions she'd never follow through with.
And then Wilson texted her.
The girl, already somewhat tipsy from an exciting bottle of red that she'd either found, stolen, bought (unlikely), or won in a card game, arrived on the scene and beelined for Wilson with no immediate step two in her plan. Of course, Lex was in the way, and her feet weren't particularly helpful in this situation, so she knocked herself into him first, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and pressing a laughing "happy ********' new years," into his ear. She then made a show of twirling around him like a ballerina (she'd taken dance lessons) and kissing Wilson on his forehead. "And to you too." She even grinned at Gale on Wilson's back (who probably saw a fair bit of cleavage too from his vantage point) and Otto, waggling her fingers at them both.
It was too bad no one else here danced. But then again she was probably not in the best state of mind to do anything entirely complicated with her feet.Carhop Calvalier if i messed up anyones position i'm sorry i'm still half asleep q A q

He watched Jordan leave and was left with the quiet hallway, the voices, shouting, and general ding of moving chairs and bottles echoing down the halls.
Slowly, he slid down to sit on his jacket on the floor, and set his bottle down beside him.
Reaching into his pocket, he felt the two phones in his pocket. One given to him by Deus. The other he pulled out, looking at the blank, dead screen. If it worked, it would have a packed address book, pictures, and his calender dotted with reminders. Two years past meant it was disconnected. Being here meant it was useless.
"Nothing." He said to the screen, and took another sip.

There was one large benefit of being taller than someone else and being bigger than them. Not to mention being trained for it.
Marcus made a very good wall. “Nope.” He would herd her to the group if he had to. “And Otto is a grown man he can watch himself. Now come on, you have to at least say hello. If you don’t, I’ll change the locks on the lab and on the file cabinets. No work until you at least spend 15 minutes with other human beings.” He gave her a look. “Its 15 minutes. Baby steps. You just have to say hi. That’s all.”

Sparkling Cider? The taller hunter received a very untrusting glare from Otto. He took the drink anyway, mostly staring at it. He gave Wilson a look, and then a small wry twitch of his lips in the form of an attempted smile. It lasted all of half a second. Madeline was stared at with a very tired expression. "Y'got into it real good, didn't ya..." She was wasted..

Jerry wobbled awkwardly, just debating heading off when he spotted Madeline- a face he hadn't seen in a long while. And talking to Otto.... if Molly had been there, it would have synched it, but even so, and despite Leon hovering nearby, he steeled his courage, straightened his hair, and made his way over. Parties were for being social, after all, and if he let Leon bring him down, then the boxer would have won.
"Madeline! I haven't seen you in ages! I just got some new instruments for the holidays! If you wanted to take over Guitar next time we have a band-meeting you're welcome to it, although I think I do have a lead on a possible pianist!"
Sorry, Otto, no escape.

"I hate New Years." Madeline said cheerfully, as though that somehow explained her current state of mind. She gave a dramatic shrug with her hands and shoulders, peering critically at Otto. "And I'm not completely wasted. My intelligence still stands a great and terrible force; I could whip Wilson's a** in a round of cards or chess still."
It took her only a split second to recognize Jerry, and her mouth cracked into a grin. "Jerry!" She swatted him cheerfully on the back, leaning against Otto temporarily. She could have picked a better person to be her wall. "I'll definitely come. Being a badass guitarist is what I do best." She grinned savagely at him. "Pianists are finicky sort; gotta find just the right person." She saluted him. "Good luck though, and god speed." That definitely wasn't the right term to use. "Brave the sea of monotony and tone-deaf hunters for our one true musician friend."

Ami was gaping at Madeline making a complete idiot from herself, and ran into Marcus' wall. She gave a childishly frustrated groan and whined, "Marcus." It wasn't focused though, as her eyes kept flicking to Madeline, worried she might do something.
The idea of changed locks quickly altered her expression. She glared at Marcus and gave him a gentle shove that wouldn't do any damage at all to the big man, and then marched over to Madeline.
Grabbing the girl's ear, she pulled Madeline aside and whispered and angry, "What do you think you're doing?" Hesitantly, she looked at Lex and the others and said, "Ah. Hi." A glare back to Marcus, so as to say Look I'm doing the thing. Then back to Madeline for being a dumbass.all of you guys im not quote treeing this omg

That sobered her up real quick.
"Socializing." She whined, backpedaling so that she ran straight into Ami and twisted out of her ear grip like a magician. "I didn't mean to come anyways," Her petulant tone was somewhat marred by the way she seemed predatorily amused by Ami's interference, "but Wilson texted me and I thought why not come and see if theres free champagne. And there is!" She gestured expansively.
"Anyways, I think you could learn a thing or two about what I'm doing." She draped her arm around Ami and waved at Marcus. "It's the art of being friendly; I think I'll be sick later but - its new years. No fireworks so I had to find a plan B to crawl my way through the long, dark night."

"C'mon Otto, just drink it." Lex urged, sipping his own glass to demonstrate - not that the boy needed instructions on how to drink out of a cup - and refilled his glass with more of the bubbly stuff before Madeline came crashing into him.
A quick jerked smile and a hasty peck to the cheek was all he was able to get in before the woman was off dancing about and making a hot mess of herself before Ami brought the hammer down.
"Oh, let her live a little!" He jeered, turning his attentions to Jerry and offering a little wave. "Happy New Year to you!" He offered, sneaking a bottle of rum behind his back and onto the floor. He'd pick that up later...

Otto cast n annoyed glare as Madeline used him as a wall for a short moment. He was soon rescued by Ami, who was being a wet blanket like usual. It seemed to be her super power. The teenager huffed and had a small sip of his drink. Blech. It tasted awful. Oh God, Jerry was recruiting again... Maybe if Otto broke both wrists he wouldn't have to drum.
