Kayleigh wanders into the arena, looking around. She sees that there are a lot of people inside, so she takes a seat at the very top to see what is occupying everyone at the moment.

About that time, Kato stepped through the door, hefted a shiny new battle axe, and ttood in the middle of the field, waiting for his new found dueling partner so he could fight against something intelligent for once. you can only get so much practice from targets.

Avery wondered into the Arena. She looked around to see what was where. This was really the first time she had been there so she was slightly nervous being there to train when she was claimed not to long ago. She chuckled softly waitning for the new kid to show up. She found herself praying to her mom that no one would get hurt.

Kato stepped over, and for once, joined her in her prayer. Not that he'd hold much sway, but better safe than sorry. However, once they were done. He looked over. "Why don't you get the first attack." He held his axe parallel to the ground, some ten feet away, nd being prepared for whatever it was.

Avery nodded as she turned to face this kid, "Before we begin, I am Avery." She held out her hand meeting his gaze. Her face was a mix of emotion but she took a deep breath. She looked at him, "I just would like to know the person im sparing with."

Kato shrugged. "I'm Kato. My dad died when I was like six, and I can't remember my last name." He held out a non weapon bearing hand for her to shake. "Sorry, haven't found anyone out here willing to exchange pleasantries before this." He looked a little sheepish actually. Probably assumed that she was a 'constant fighter.' Like the rest of them judging by the move she'd pulled.

Avery nodded at him, "Its nice to meet you Kato. I hope you are able to remember your last name." Avery smiled slightly then she took a few step back and moved her weapon in front of herself, "Whenever your ready to begin Kato." Avery fell into a battle stance ready for whatever Kato was ready to throw her way.

Kato puled back his blade, so it was behind his shoulder for some power, charged the ten feet towards her, and.. dropped into a power slide. his axe up so it would be difficult to jump over him without injury.

Avery saw him charging towards her and falling into the slide. She waited till the last second to move. She threw her spear off to the left the tucked and rolled coming up next to it. She freed the spear then spun aiming the tip in Katos direction. She then charged him swinging low with her spear aiming to disarm Kato.

Kato smirked. leaping back almost out of range of the slice, and it cut his clothes a little. He followed the jump with a baseball bat like smack to her spear with the flat of his blade. His axe had shock absorbing leather grip, but did her spear? If it didn't, the reverberation might just knock it from her hand.

Avery took the direct hit and the shock was enough for her to lose her grip. She had then charged at him and struck out with her right hand palm heading for his chest. She knew from the smack he was much stronger than she was which she wasnt use to. Once she had him off balance she would then get her spear back but she had to relay on her speed. The energy she felt was glorious and the more she fought the more she let go.

Kato took the direct hit with a huff, stumbling back a little, but luckily having the presence of mind to hold his axe defensively in front of his chest to block any more torso punched before he could recover. "Well done." He got back into a realistic fighting stance and awaited her next strike.

Avery jumped back then used her left foot to flip the spear into the air where she grabbed it and went back down into a defensive stance. She smiled, "Thank you you are really good too." Her face reflected her serious thoughts as she began to circle around him as she looked for an opening. She then charged once more swinging the blunt end of her spear at his legs.

Kato attempted to stomp on the end of the spear, to flatten it, (And hopefully his opponent) to the ground. However, missing his mark left him unbalanced, and when the sweep attack hit his shin, he fell backwards. Thinking fast, he attempted to put his axe behind him, blade down in the dirt, and use his superior arm strength to flip himself over it, landing back awkwardly on his feet, and sending a slice of dirt towards his opponent he hoped would blind her a little.

Avery saw the opening she was looking for but soon it was dashed when the dirt hit her eyes. She growled quickly trying to clear her eyes so that she could finish this. By the time her eyes were cleared she noted Kato was rebalanced and ready for the next round so Avery did the same by placing the spear across the front of her defencively.
