Amarus exhaled heavily. Not out of necessity, but rather old habits. "Does it count if I am trouble? Can trouble have trouble?" She was about to start confusing herself. Instead, she turned to face the stranger. Like her, his mask was fairly simple. Unlike her, he was immaculate in an elegant kind of way. Elegant-casual? Was that a thing? Amarus was definitely not the right ghoul to ask. She was just trying to make it through the night without missing a hallmark or something. Everyone was so excited about prom, it was hard not to at least go to say she went. Besides, she had dropped off Jin in the minipets mixer and maybe he'd take out some of his creepiness on the other minis there rather than her poor foxfire, Ashbel.

There was one plus side to being in Amarus' company for the time being: if the stranger would allow it, the sort of purple-pink flame that licked low to her skin was an aura that gave off a colourless, odourless smoke. That smoke would, rather than damage the lungs with toxins, offer a calming and reassuring sensation to any degree which he allowed. That was the reason Amarus had to keep herself from getting bored, though; as calming as her presence could be to others, it was thrice that to her own self, as it was her essence that fed the aura. In concentrated doses, it became her FEAR. In any case, the closer this boil got, the more he'd be able to use its effect, if he wanted to.

"Do you dance often? I certainly don't. The closest I get is when I'm trying to vanquish my enemies," Amarus lamented, with a thrust of her palm outwards, and then a quick gesture with her hands as she formed her favourite Kuji-kiri.

Taima almost hadn't come to prom. In the few days she had been on campus, she'd already started pursuing coursework and extracurriculars, things that were given all of her attention or none of it by turns after she had heard about this prom thing. She hadn't had much time to prepare, but with the aid of some very helpful sales ladies she had met at the maul, she managed to put together a prom-worthy outfit: a deep blue corset top laced up the sides with gold-colored cord from her chest to her hips before the fabric loosened into a long, flowing ankle-length skirt that was slit completely up one thigh, revealing both her intricate markings and the strappy heels on her feet. The mask was a more interesting problem that she solved by simply fastening some of her own bright blue and yellow feathers to it, giving it a winged appearance--this way, at least it matched matched. Pyrite bangles glittered on one wrist and thin strands of it wrapped in loose, uneven strands around her neck. She tied her hair up in a deliberately messy bun for the occasion.

She didn't really know anyone at the school, but this was an excellent opportunity to meet her peers, and she was confident enough to come alone no matter how ridiculous she felt in her outfit. She wasn't the dressy type--had never, in fact, been so dressed up in her entire life--but tonight she owned it, striding up the candlelit path to the hall. As she pushed open the door, she took a brief moment to admire the sights and sounds of the hall from afar. Her feathers fluffed and she grinned excitedly as she came inside, her eyes wandering over the new faces and the DJ booth and--food. Yes. Shopping was long and tiring work, and she hadn't gotten a chance to eat between making her mask and getting dressed. She could eat first, and then mingle. Or mingle and eat, whichever came first.

Muka was more than happy to bring Needle with him to prom. He hoped the experience was up to her expectations. The room was filled with fancy dressed students, all in masks and matching garb. While his subconscious mind registered their fashion sense, he was also looking for Petro and Lattice.

"I will keep an eye out for your sister." And then a joke. "Would you like my other eye to look for anyone else?" He giggled, his bad joke amusing him immensely.

"Please let me know if you'd like help.. or descriptions. It seems there is a food table, dance floor, tables for eating.. hmm.. signs for a photo booth.. a screejay booth.." He rattled things off to her. "And restrooms. If you need the facilities. I will not judge!" He giggled. "Do ghosts do that?" He was curious! Perhaps not a good prom topic though...

And suddenly things happened.

She hardly had any time to process what was happened when a few of her friends suddenly turned themselves into physical barriers, effectively separating her from the vampire. She was genuinely touched by the support, but at the same time, she certainly didn't want to get them pulled into some kind of conflict. Especially not at prom, which was supposed to be a happy and fun time for everyone involved.

She offered Mitsu a small smile at the pat, reaching out to touch the ghoul's shoulder in a quiet gesture of thanks. She appreciated her attempt to help her. Xiu reached out to tug on Shun's sleeve next, giving a little shake of her head once she caught his attention. "I don't want any of you guys getting in trouble, aniki. Lou's...harmless...?" Okay, well. He said things that made her rather uncomfortable--such as the whole dress on his floor thing--but it could have been worse, right? At the very least, she could make an effort to ignore those comments. If he had been manhandling her on the other hand...

She let herself be drawn backwards by Vaith, only to stare up at the noise reaper in surprise at the sudden inquiry. Seeing that he was serious, the smile on her face was one of reassurance as she gently pat him on the arm.

"I'd pick a gentleman any day." There was a pause, and then she moved forward, poking her head out from behind her friends to stare at Lou. Her brows were creased, and her lips were pulled downwards in a frown. "Would I be too hopeful in asking you to apologize to my friend, Lou?" She had heard the whole virgin thing, and while it puzzled her what was so bad about being one, she was certain that her reaper friend was not appreciative of what the vampire clearly meant as an insult.

Thanatos was dressed in something Victorian, and compared to his date, probably looked a little overdressed, even going so far as to get a cane, which was currently tucked under his free arm, since he had offered his other arm to Amphi; then again, he should have guessed that Amphi would go for something minimalist, even showing her legs despite this prom having the theme of a masquerade ball... Tsk tsk.

At least they were wearing somewhat matching masks.

He wasn't a stranger to such formal parties, and it was a fantastic place to people-watch, even more so than usual. Drama usually brews whenever there's a large group of people gathered together, after all, especially since not everyone would get along with everyone else... It was a shame Biskoto wouldn't be around to 'reign' him in tonight. He was a free man.

"Nervous?" He chuckled at his date, his amused expression probably not hidden by the half-mask, "You got through the Scarentine's Party well enough, did you not?"

Face your demons

He wasn't sure what it was, but the mere presence of this ghoul made him feel at ease. He smiled warmly as she expressed her concern, chuckling at her cute little pose of a warrior. "Well, dancing isn't all that different from fighting. It's just less to do with striking an opponent, but the technique is there."

He nodded softly. "I dance quite a bit. I am not busy, presently. Would you care for a one on one lesson?" This would be a delightful way to keep his mind off of Hel. Besides, he liked teaching things to others. Especially something that came easy to him like this.

He offered a hand to the pink haired ghost. "I promise it will be simple and painless."

Lumikki stood near the doors of the Prom holding her fox mask, she had left her place in such a hurry she didn't even grab her phone. Which made this a whole lot harder since she hadn't actually asked Julian what he was going to be wearing. But honestly how hard would it be to spot him? She hadn't seen too many boils with a wingspan like his before. But never the less she kept her mask off until she could find him. Hoping that the gnomes giving her looks wouldn't yell at her for not having it on...hey she was at least holding it right?

Looking around she worried just a bit. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, but they all knew each other...what if Julian never showed up...what if he didn't really want to be at a dance with so many people. Looking down at her dress she tried to smooth it out. She didn't feel like it was TOO fancy but then again she felt a little out of place.

Her eyes instantly went to the commotion in the room, It seemed Xiu was over there. She frowned as she looked at the Baku who was expertly surrounded by Shun, Vaith the reaper she had met once before and who Amphi assumed was Shun's ghoulfriend.

All because....Amphi's face flat lined as she recognized the vampire boil from the beach. Here...at school...Harassing Xiu again. Ohhhh Lou, your lucky She was with Thanatos right now and distracted. But she would find you later and give you some proper wording conduct about just how to treat a ghoul. SHE'S WATCHING YOU LOU. * A *

"Yes!" She looked up after her stare down at the vampire and smiled shyly at Thana. "Ah...it was okay but..." She blinked looking away, "I think I remember things that happened and..." She shrugged. She came to stand in front of her reaper date though, studying him and nodding.

"Thana, I didn't tell you how handsome you are." She reached up to play with a button, smiling shyly still. "Do you want to go to the dance floor first or...perhaps get something to drink?" She didn't see anyone really in immediate attention to be talked too....except Lou. "Or um, We could sit somewhere, or stand somewhere or...um..." Ah she was no good at these things.

Now, more than ever, the ghoul wished someone had spiked the punch.

There was no point in following him. He was like a child in a toy store. Too ADD for his own good. All she could do was waaaatch him go.

With a grimace, the feline moved over to a chair with her cup of sadtastic juice. Hel was right. This wasn't going to work. Wait, what wasn't going to work. Damn you brain for having a hidden agenda!

"Good ******** Jack, what am I doing?" The cat ghoul asked herself quietly, rubbing her temples and glancing away from the nightmare demon. "This is stupid. I'm not pathetic." Then she threw her drink at the ground as if it had just called her mother a dirty hooker. The gnomes would clean it up, after all. "I'm going to party like it's my last night ever." And it very well might be.

While Fae seemed to be distracted by something, Heidla nervously looked around, feeling almost deserted. There were so many students there, and she didn't know anyone. She tried to catch a glimpse of familiar faces (well, she met quite a few people, didn't she?) but everyone was hiding behind a mask...Well, at least her dress fit into the trend - almost everyone here was fancy, aerial, etherial, silky, alluring, same image as she tried to recreate in her dress. She layered all the dark and ethereal stuff she had (tulle and chiffon and the like) into a multi-flounced dark skirt with occasional glimpses of lighter fabric, and sewed an open top out of embroidered ceremonial tunic. A lighter scarf covered her shoulders.

She stared at her reflection in one of the mirrors.

[ENTERING WITH CHARLIE.]

It was very unnerving, suddenly being thrusted in to the group of youths who had already found their way in to the ball. If it hadn't been for Charlie's constant remarks and amusing anecdotes that usually came with the small sewing sessions and painting events that came with making their suits and masks, Lifen would have probably been hiding under a table, still worried about meeting so many students. She was just so interested.

Standing at the doorway, arm and arm with the shorter demon, her eyes were akin to saucers, taking in everything and just paralyzed with two different thoughts - everything was so exciting! - and - How was she going to run away if things got too . . . close. Looking down to Charlie, she gave him a little smile, tilting her head.

"So, how do we go around this?" She asked, never having been a guest in a party.

At least he hadn't said aloud that her pose was cute, because she would not have known what to do with that information. In her mind, she was a badass! This was also said badass' first time in a dress, and she had compensated by combining it with what had once been a vest for the boils. Amarus was fairly bad at reading emotions, and equally bad at expressing concern for another being, but... her understanding of this event was that everyone travelled in packs. A lone student was strange, if she had grasped the concept at all. After all, she was wandering around alone too, right? She might she her friends, but they would likely have dates.

Being a third wheel was kind of not her thing. So maybe she'd just loiter by the punch. Well, that was her original plan. This new plan seemed a lot better. "A lesson?" Amarus didn't have to think of it for long. If he danced regularly, he must have some skills, right? And if he imparted said skills with her, perhaps she could be.... dancing queen. Well, that was not how she worded it in her head. But visions of excelling at the next play tryouts filled her vision. And then dissipated as she offered the boil a smile and her hand.

"What's progress without a little suffering?" She started, before she caught herself. "Teach me, oh master, who is not busy presently," Amarus, her hand extended to accept his offered hand, nevertheless managed to combine it into a bow, her coiled hair sliding onto her shoulder as she did so. A throwback to his statement that dancing was a lot like fighting, but with less striking of the opponent, Amarus added: "I promise to try very, very hard not to strike you," then, her smile widening, "...but it'll be up to you how effective I am at that task. I give it ten minutes, tops, before I manage to either smack into you or severely wound another dancer. I can see the headlines now: Lotus Eater breaks ghoul's nose, another left unconscious. More injuries to be reported as they present."

"I bet you had that one written down for a special occasion, didn't you midget man?" Shun wasn't THAT much shorter than Lou, but for the sake of comedy the vampire certainly made it seem so.

"Awww, look at the little hugbox you have, Xiu. None of these people think you can stand up for yourself." Lou gave a tone of mock pity as he tilted his head and frowned. The frown couldn't last long, however. He was bad at frowning.

"But to be honest, I do think it is kind of sad that none of you even considered to ask Xiu if she wanted to be kept away from me." But that was how it was then. Que sera.

Xiu's hope for an apology seemed to brighten his spirits, though. To that, he smiled softly... which was an unsettling mix with those eyes. "I never say anything I don't mean, my dear. It would be pointless and devalue my honesty." And with those words, the famous Lou C. Ferre wink followed.

But now... who was this? This man with a... A riding crop? Already the boil spoke Lou's language. Most likely without even realizing it. "Ah, so you enjoy my approach to parties, do you snaggletooth? Nice riding crop, by the way. I hope you get some use out of it."

Mot chuckled again. The ghoul had a delightful and colourful personality. She'd be a treat to teach. He gave a mock bow of his own, flourishing his free hand in a gentlemanly fashion. "And I promise to take any blow like a man and a gentlemen. Do your worst, little lady." He grinned lightly.

Nerpin

There were bell jingles from the outfit that Charlie wore. Every step the demon took caused the bells to jingle. He held the horse womans hand daintily as he entered. The pink haired demon proudly sported the batman mask. The two had worked hard on their outfits together and Charlie had some how won out on batman.

How cool was that?

So cool.

"We should go dancing and eat treats and do more dancing~ Lifen! You're gonna love this," His arm suddenly gripped tight around hers playfully. He glided a little so his feet dangled.
