The solid force did stop the hunter, making him grunt with shock and look down. Whatever the solid thing was...he couldn't SEE it and that bothered him.
he trailed his hands down on to the invisible solid object and moved over, feeling places where it dropped into pockets of air. Frowning, he started to dig in his pockets and pulled out a piece of candy.
"I know the stairs were here before...but I'm wary of the floor Brother..." Dakota grinned as he tossed the candy to the spot where the stairs had been. "If it drops, we're screwed...right?"

"Actually," Jordan said thoughtfully, "if it drops, the stairs might still be there. Let's see." He knelt and reached cautiously forward, feeling for the edge of the step.

He stepped to the other side of the door to look into the room with Cass. The lighting was dim, but it appeared fine. Wilson looked toward the mist hunter and half-nodded his head toward the next room before he went to check out the adjacent room.

Clink-clatter-clack! went the candy. As soon as Jordan reached forward, his hands sunk into the ground. It was strange, being able to stick your hand through something that looked solid. When he pulled his hand back, the illusion was gone and the stairs along with the staircase rail were back where they had left them.

Cass made an 'Ahdahdahdahdahdahdahno' after Wilson as he headed towards the next room, it wasn't a loud one, but as quiet as she'd suddenly turned it was enough to hopefully get his attention before she stepped further into the room, tapping on the side of Nicodemus to light up his runes for a bit more light.
She just wanted to make sure there wasn't a closet or something in there first.

Lucky Cass; there was a closet on the other side of the room. One that went thumpthump a little bit, too.

As he heard Cass, he stopped mid-step and turned around hastily. "Hm?" Upon realizing she hadn't followed, Wilson hurriedly returned to the previous room to stand behind Cass.

There was a responsive WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP! as something battered against the door very loudly in response. demon_pachabel Cass tapped on the closet door with the tip of Nicodemus's blade.

"Should we go down-" Dakota heard a very loud thump from in the rooms and looked over his shoulder...
"Did you hear that?"

Cass's posture stiffened immediately before she hesitantly tucked the blade into the ammo belt she wore across her chest and instead held the gun firmly in her dominant hand, moving to open the door slowly.
After all, pulling a trigger was a much better reaction time if she needed to. That was assuming she didn't suddenly fire on an innocent child who happened to still be stuck in the house somehow.

"Looks like we've got stairs after all," Jordan said with satisfaction. "Illusions. No, we should let the others know - " He straightened and turned as a loud WHUMPing noise made itself known. "I heard it. Let's check it out; that's the direction Cass and Wilson went. We should tell them about the stairs, anyway." He headed down the hall towards the location of the noises.

As soon as Cass opened the door, the weight of what was pressed against the other side forced it open. Out spilled a child, hands tied behind their back. A cloth bag was over their head. The figure wheezed softly, lying still as they regained their breath.

Cass immediately tucked the gun into her belt as well when the child spilled out, fishing into her coat to pull her knife out as to cut the child's arms free of the bonds. Once she had put the knife away again, she pulled the bag from over their head and hoisted the kid up.
Then she passed a look to Wilson, nodding her head towards the kid. She'd remembered the girls from earlier saying their friend had been taken. Was this them? Or a trick.
Either way, Cass was at least going to give the situation a grain of salt.
To Wilson, she mouthed a 'Text Jordan. Tell him we're all going downstairs and I have my arms full.'

Taken aback, Wilson pulled his mask down when the child tumbled out. "That..." He hesitated, unsure of whether to help the kid or be cautious of them. His gaze never wavered as Cass bent down to help the child. He nodded curtly and pulled out his phone, cannons clattering to the ground.Text from Wilson we're going downstairs. cass has her arms full. He pressed send and put away his phone. Wilson half-nodded towards the door. His lips moved. 'Ready?'
