《Blue Bird》 《Run Around》 Despite everything that happened, Sora couldn't help but quirk up an eyebrow at Laxus's sudden kneel. What was he playing at? Then again, that same question could be asked of Shikaku if his current mannerisms were really the act that Sora partly expected them to be. Everything had become so bizzare, or perhaps that's just what it seemed like with her messed-up state of mind.
Either way, Sora would have to deny Laxus's request. First, though, she had to get over this strange state of events. The girl shook her head to clear it, before bending down to offer Laxus a hand up as she acknowledged "A good idea to save time." It felt wrong to have someone older than her be kneeling in front of her. Heck, he hadn't even knelt in front of the Raikage this meeting, such level of respect was clearly not needed. Sora then expressed her modifications to the plan, "But rather than either of us, let's have Shikaku read it out loud? Will you please, Shikaku?" while giving Shikaku a questioning look, "That is, if you're alright with it? Both Laxus and I have seen Kensei in action, so simply hearing it and looking at the folder over your shoulder should be enough of a review for us. On the other hand, Shikaku, you know almost nothing about Kensei, right?". She tried out a amiable smile to show that she didn't mean for Shikaku to feel uncomfortable, but it came out as little more than a weak grin.

Amira entered the Raikage's building and listened to the banter of those in the first floor room. There seemed to be something going on through she was unsure yet as to what it was. She'd walked in just as in time to hear someone tell a younger kid to head up to the Kage's Office. It was probably a mission distribution for the child's team. What would it be this time? Perhaps picking up some garbage or a babysitting job? The girl was able to keep a smile from coming to her lips as she walked after the male as quickly as she normally did and waited outside of the Kage's door. She'd used the commotion downstairs so that her presence wouldn't be noted as anything more than an accompanying person to the younger male who was only a few feet ahead of her. She was polite enough to stay out of the room though as the voices within seemed to raise and lower periodically. A few words did slip through the wooden door though. Defeating a rogue? That was a little different than what she had expected to be given to a three man team. In fact, she had yet to hear any older voice to depict the image of a higher ranking ninja accompanying them. Did the Kage plan on leaving them to their own devices?
Such pride in her younger subordinates was admirable, but stupid in the young Kunoichi's personal opinion. Not that her words would ever reach her lips, and in turn, the Kage's ears. Silence was always something the Bushin prided themselves on. The ones inside really did need to hurry themselves so that she could go about her introductions and gain a mission for herself to complete. A Shinobi with no purpose was about as useful as a cold wet towel in winter. Folding her arms over her chest, the golden haired female leaned against the wall. The long black metal pole on her back made a metallic clang against the wall as it hit. The blood red gems on either end of the pole gleamed in the light that seemed into the hallway. Perhaps she should have kept her cloak on her instead of leaving it at her new residence. Giving off a creepy air was always something entertaining. Especially around Genin whose voices gave away their age. Amira let her piercing blue eyes roam the woodworks in the hallway before she sighed and decided to just come back later. Heading down the hallway and down the stairs, the girl decided to walk around the village to get a little more familiar with her surroundings.

As Sora spoke, hearing her commend him for his idea, he straightened up. Standing at near full height, still looking down, he opened his mouth to respond. Suddenly Sora suggested that rather than read it himself, he should allow Shikaku to read it. "As you wish." Laxus said, his hair hanging over his eyes, which had widened considerably for a moment before returning to normal. Lifting his head to look forward, he brought one hand to swipe his hair back off his brow obscuring his face from sight on all sides for a single moment. He used this chance for the inevitable look he'd make showing him cursing the fact she'd let the child read instead of him. Could the kid even read proficiently? It didn't matter to Laxus if he could, it didn't even matter that Sora had said Laxus couldn't read it, and Shikaku would be the one to do it. It was more something of pride. To Laxus it was Sora trusting Shikaku rather than Laxus with the information in the file. Moving his hand finally after a single second and comtinueing the motion of sweeping his hair back he scratched the back of his head smiling a believable pseudo-smile. "It's all you Shikaku." Laxus said looking at Shikaku with an extremely believable smile. Was the kid just lucky when it came to being around confidential documents?

Shikaku looked up, rather surprised at the sudden request. His eyes trailed over everyone in the room, a gesture denoting hesitation, but used to determine reactions to the decision. Sora appeared... Earnest, for lack of a better word, but hesitant. Most likely her choice was more personal than implied. She didn't want to have to read about what appeared to be a friend gone rogue. The Raikage was as unreadable as ever behind her veil, but as she gave so outward sign of discontent with the decision, his eyes strayed to the last member of the group. The boy appeared now to be trying to hide his face... Or would it be better put as expression? Undoubtedly he was upset about having the chance taken away from him. Would accepting it himself make the older boy an enemy? The overly telegraphed fake smile he was given forced him to suppress a shiver from going down his spine. He would have to ensure that he wasn't caught alone with this one.
Nodding, half to himself and half to Sora, Shikaku stepped forward, picking up the file with one last glance at the Raikage to confirm it was indeed acceptable procedure. With no immediate reaction given, he quickly stepped back to his previous position, turning to he could face all three members of the group at once, with a slight leaning towards the two genin.
"I don't like people standing behind me..." he offered quietly, in lieu of an apology for his position of choice going against the given methodology. Flipping the file open, he examined the photo more closely than he'd been able to earlier, committing it to memory for later use before moving on to the first page of the file, skimming it quickly to more easily summarize the information. "Uchiha Kensei." he began slowly, making sure to intone the words clearly enough to be understood by anyone in the room. "Age, twenty one. Height, six foot one. Brown hair, brown eyes. Slim yet muscular build. No truly distinguishing features." Summary of the base description given along with the photo complete, he pulled that page from the file, passing it to Sora. His way of ensuring the others wouldn't feel it necessary to bypass his implied "Personal Space" issues.
"Subject holds the rank of chuunin with no additional titles. His headband, if he still wears it, is generally kept on his forehead. Chakra color is recorded as green. Level medium, known affinity for katon and raiton techniques." That page complete as well, he passed it on to Sora, quickly moving to the next, his tone growing more professional as he read on. Hopefully that would be recognized, at least by the boy he was growing to distrust, as him trying to act the part, rather than letting his other act slip.
"His strength and speed are rated at B rank, while most of his other abilities level out at C. Appropriate, as his specialization is taijutsu. A possible but unconfirmed weakness to genjutsu is noted as well. In combat he is capable of utilizing jutsu in rapid succession. As an Uchiha, he has unlocked his Sharingan and advanced to the third stage..." Shikaku trailed off there, frowning slightly in thought. Could that be why he had gone rogue? It was rumored that the fourth stage of Sharingan could only be accessed through murder. Hadn't they said he'd committed a murder and fled?
That was the end of that page though, so keeping his thoughts to himself, Shikaku pulled the page loose, passing it along as well. "Subject is a known summoner, utilizing the bird contract. How many birds and of what types is not noted. Utilizes the taijutsu style "Ansatsuken". On what level and what techniques are known is again not noted. Ninjutsu and unaffiliated taijutsu techniques are not noted..." He didn't bother trying to hide his frown anymore at this point. They were being sent to fight and capture a man, with no knowledge of his techniques. Knowledge he was certain the village would have on record for any of their shinobi. Why? Had he somehow gotten into the records before he ran and destroyed the information? Or was something else going on?
Pulling the mostly useless ninjutsu section from the file, he passed it on yet again, leaving only missions and history. The history section was short, and considering current events, likely false in it's statements, so he moved straight to the missions, which were also a short list. Strangely so, for his rank, which left only the assumption that some had been removed. These were most likely his most recent. "Of the missions listed, subject has performed one D rank, three C ranks, two of which being what seems to be high level escort missions, and one B rank, in Sunagakure." he finished, handing the last of the file over to Sora. She would decide where to take things from there. Her, or the Raikage anyways. Falling silent once more, Shikaku didn't bother returning to his act of shame, or the foolish act he'd walked in with. The serious atmosphere of the room would cover for the seriousness he let pass over his face. This was about two men's lives, one already past. No place for jokes or fake smiles. A thought which drew his eyes to the other boy for a moment once more, before fixing on Sora.

The Raikage figure remained completely immobile, as to prevent showing any reaction to the performance before her. This was, after all, a very important part of Sora's test. Managing information was important to understand, and Sora had failed the test. Considering it was an easy lesson to teach however, it was more important to knowing how much training she would need rather than if she got any at all. Shikaku moved to grab the folder and read it after checking and double-checking the faces around them. It was now obvious, to the patient/clever observer, that he was acting. His frequent glances toward Laxus betrayed his reasons, at least in part. He didn't trust the boy, for reasons unknown. She made a mental note to debrief him separately after the mission.
When he finished his reading, she kept her stillness, watching all three faces. your move Sora, how are you going to play it?

《Kumogakure》 《Genin》 《Sealing Master》《Tactical/Combo》
《Blue Bird》 《Run Around》 Sora thought to herself after both listening to Shikaku and skimming through the papers herself. Of course, she let Laxus look over her shoulder, even with all the unease she had started feeling about him. Besides, now wasn't the time to think of things like everyone's strange way of action. So far, they didn't seem to be of danger to the current mission, and she'd always have time later to observe them.
Now, she needed to focus on the mission. Actually focus this time. She couldn't be all wishy-washy forever, Sora closed her eyes for a long moment to think as she straightened the papers.
Like Shikaku, Sora found the lack of information on Kensei's jutsu disturbing. She didn't expect them to have a detailed list of what he knew but... to not even include something as general as an estimate of his skills in ninjutsu and genjuts. That was abnormal. Oh well, any problems created by that lack of knowledge would be easily resolved. The more serious issue was just how three genins would go about confronting a veteran chuunin like Kensei.
Sora opened her eyes to look at everyone. As she informed, "Kensei's array of ninjutsu is pretty expansive from what I've seen. He's probably trained everything he could. Assume a high level of skill just to be safe. Well, as high as a taijutsu specialist can get. Still pretty deadly, though, if he just dishes it all out at once. As for genjutsu, I can't recall him every using it much. He likes to get up-close and personal rather than bombarding us with ninjutsu from the back anyways. He'll have the aerial advantage, so let's try and keep the fight on the ground. We should try and finish it quickly, or else he'll probably try to escape via bird," she looked at everyone in turn. Hey, everyone seemed to be really into doing that into the moment, so it'd probably give good information.
Her eyes glided across the impenetrable face of the Raikage to rest momentarily on Shikaku's face and then Laxus's. Shikaku had a serious expression, more befitting of the Shikaku Sora remembered from her first meeting of him, Sora would have picked on the double-checking cue that the Raikage had if she wasn't doing the same thing herself. As for Laxus's smile, she was no master of disguises like Shikaku so she could not differentiate Laxus's fake smile from a real one,
Well, she did pick up on some interesting things. Not exactly helpful for this mission, though. To make any sort of plan, she'd need to know what everyone could do. The most time-efficient way was to just get Shikaku to tell her what he could do since she already knew what Laxus could do, but that would be unfair to Shikaku... and he was uncomfortable with Laxus. Perhaps there was something to be benefited from following that line of caution? Perhaps not with this mission directly, but it might pay off later in the future... somehow.
Besides, now that she thought about it hard enough, she already had enough information on Shikaku to develop something of a plan. She could already tell from Shikaku's walking pattern that he was sneaky. She had picked it up from him on her first meeting with him. She just needed one more thing, "Shikaku, if..." She stopped herself. No, asking questions like this would waste time. Better incorporate her whole plan into it. "Shikaku," she started again, "hide yourself from the start, so Kensei doesn't even realize your presence and thinks that only Laxus and I are here to take him down. Come after after the fight starts if you need to. Both Laxus and I can make a scene--bright and flashy falls right in with Raiton--to signal our location without Kensei noticing anything strange if need be. Then, while we provide the distraction, find a way to restrict his movements. The two of us will try to keep our distance from Kensei to make it easier for you. Besides, both of us probably stand a better chance with some space between ourselves and a taijutsu specialist like Kensei. Laxus and I will follow up on that and help to keep him down. Can you do that?". Feeling accomplished, Sora stopped there. She had explained her first plan (hopefully it'd be all they'd need since she couldn't think of any more) while also dropping in the important pieces of information regarding everyone's abilities (hopefully without dropping too much). She just hoped (among all the other hopes) that she didn't irritate Laxus by focusing on Shikaku too much. She also hoped her plan wasn't too simple... There were countless way she could fancy-fy it, with flash bombs and all that good stuff, but she felt that would be too much clutter to be used effectively in an actual battle.
No longer did her face seem so stressed out. It was earnest, but it still unsmiling. It seemed that, somehow, Sora had managed to find a happy medium. That happy medium being that she'd convinced herself that capturing Kensei was something along the lines of a game. Of course, she still remembered the real circumstances but... it was a good way to soften everything.

Does Shikaku not like me or something? Laxus thought to himself, seeing shikaku's glances. If anything it should be the other way around! He's the one who peeked over Laxus' side when he had been writing the document, and now he was the one reading the file on Kensei. Granted he had no influence on the current situation, but still. Laxus dropped his smile at this point. He thought about speaking up when Shikaku mentioned that he didn't like people being behind him. It was something he obviously lacked the courtesy to allow for everyone else. His eyes remained on Shikaku only as long as he spoke, going to the documents to scan them, and then to the Raikage. As far as Laxus was concerned Shikaku no longer existed while still within the office.
Laxus waited patiently as Sora took her time to speak. He was becoming slightly impatient, partially due to being in a room with someone who seemed to rub him the wrong way even more so than Kensei was capable. Why would he have ended up in a village that disliked him so greatly. Finally when Sora spoke up, it snapped Laxus out of his thoughts, and he turned to look at Sora instead of looking at the office and the raikage like he had been since Shikaku shut his mouth. Laxus smirked slightly when Sora seemed almost hesitant to say her plan. It seemed she was trying to hide everyone's abilities from one another. It wasn't a very good plan on Laxus' part. Shikaku didn't know he was capable of Raiton, and Laxus knew Shikaku was sneaky. In the end Shikaku got told information and Laxus only confirmed something he already knew as fact. He was slowly getting more and more agitated with the grey haired boy. Was that really his only ability? was being aggravating and sneaky his only skill? If that was the case Laxus wouldn't even bother to acknowledge the child's existence in the future. For the time being he remained motionless, and stoic rather than letting his anger possess him and his face betray his dislike of Shikaku. He thought to himself, then choosing to speak. "We'll be counting on you. Neither Sora nor I can take him head on." He didn't even face Shikaku when he said it, instead he crossed his arms and looked past the Raikage out the window.

Shikaku listened in a surprised silence as Sora focused her description of her plan on him. And placed him in a position he could work well in at that. Had they discussed his skill set before he entered the room, making his entire act pointless? Or perhaps, was she simply placing an unknown quantity where it was least likely to be harmed? Either way it worked satisfactorily. He nodded silently as she stated that she and Laxus, as the other boy's name was finally revealed to be, would keep Kensei's attention with raiton ninjutsu. It might have seemed to some like he was given a lot of information there, by simply being told that they were raiton users, but it made perfect sense to him. The boy had mentioned in his report that he was able to manipulate metal. That implied a bloodline of some sort, most likely elemental combination. Raiton was an obvious assumption. And for her? Well, nobody else in the room had extreme static hair, and that energy had to have come from somewhere.
"I can do that." Shikaku answered, nodding again as Sora finished detailing her plan. His eyes strayed to Laxus again as the boy spoke out, and narrowed slightly. Enemy. The word clicked into place with disturbing clarity. Laxus had stared at him the entire time he was reading, without any of the false amiability on his features anymore, and then refused to look at him at ever ever since. An honestly impressive feat considering their positioning as Sora spoke. And then when he finally spoke to him again, he did so looking in almost the opposite direction, arms crossed as if he was dealing with an ant, or cockroach he'd rather step on and crush than look at.
Frowning, Shikaku filed that away in the back of his mind and attempted instead to focus his thoughts on the mission. They would be hunting a rogue chuunin, in a forest... He would need to find cover long before they made contact, or losing himself again would be nearly impossible... Well, setting traps would be easy enough with all the underbrush and trees. For now, he would keep his silence and wait for one of the others to bring up what happened next.

In their first meeting he never moved at all while they spoke, and just talked for a very short length of time. In this meeting, he's gone out of his way to hide that by, at least in his intro, making himself seem loud and obnoxious. Determining that he was acting wouldn't be that far fetched considering the change in behavior from their last meeting, but it could be passed off as many different things, from a mood change, to just the shortness of their meeting. Just saying, I came into the room fully intending to hide as much as possible for the time being (Though just from Laxus, not necessarily Sora.). Having everyone become Sherlock and deduce it all from minor details kills the point. XD

《Kumogakure》 《Genin》 《Sealing Master》《Tactical/Combo》
《Blue Bird》 《Run Around》 Sora nodded in approval of Shikaku's response. She knew that Laxus, judging from his reactions, probably wanted more information than what Shikaku gave merely to have more information on Shikaku, but Sora didn't necessarily mind. Knowing all the ins-and-outs of Shikaku's plan to trap Kensei wasn't necessary. There were too many factors to get down a clear-cut plan. In fact, it'd probably be just a burden as it'd waste even more time.
Also taking the cue that Laxus was getting impatient, and probably the Raikage as well, Sora spoke immediately after her nod. "Right, if no one else has anything to say and Laxus is done pouting about Shikaku. We'll leave now. That is, if the Raikage is fine with us leaving?" she bowed her head to said respected person as she mentioned her name before continuing to address both Shikaku and Laxus, "We can discuss any finer points on the way to the forest."
The general plan had been set, but there were still things that could be fine-tuned. Shikaku mainly had himself to work with but he might still want to set up a few things with the other two. The distractions too had things to discuss, like how to initiate and perhaps even a few key maneuvers. Sora and Laxus might not have been the ones capturing Kensei, but Sora felt that the job needed to be taken just as seriously. After all, if they didn't pose enough of a problem to the chuunin, that made it that much easier for Shikaku to be noticed. Meanwhile, if she and Laxus just went all in, they might not survive the encounter.
Sora thought as she waited for everyone's approval,

《OOC: Really? *checks* Oh, really... Oops... My bad gonk . I remember Sora deducing that someone was an assassin from the way they walked and thought that it was Shikaku... which is wrong now that I actually go and check my previous posts... Also, mood change, that's a good reason. I was trying to think of something other than acting so that Sora wouldn't unrealistically realize what Shikaku was really doing but all I could think of was that she was still feeling weird and confuzzled. I shall try and keep that in mind for the next time something like this happens. Thank you 3nodding .》

the Raikage, remaining as silent as the grave, simply gestured toward the door when Sora looked to her for permission. It was up to Kensei to finalize the girl's test. Her plan seemed to rely heavilly on information Sora didn't seem certain was even correct, though it was possible she was certain of the information but not of the plan. The battle plan was straightforward, and put everyone it the right places to make it work, though the Raikage wondered if it wasn't too straightforward to serve it's purpose. Yet another thing for Kensei to determine. It was clear she would need to learn a bit, but not whether she was ready. Would she have turned down the mission if given the chance? It was an interesting question, and important for determining how Sora's mind worked. Perhaps it would be wise to bring it up for the debriefing.

Pouting? Is that what it came off as? Laxus thought long and hard about it, completely missing Sora finishing her sentence. Is this really what having little to no power did? Turned pure hatred through civility into pouting? Did you have to obliterate people from existence before people could take you seriously? Or maybe it was how he was ignoring Shikaku's existence that was making him seem pouting. Either way, once Laxus obtained enough power, he would prove himself to not pout, but rather be a man of salutary neglect of the existence of those whom he deemed unworthy. Shikaku being the first of those who would be so blessed. Maybe at some point if Shikaku tried to harm him, he could kill him. But then again that wouldn't exactly be ignoring the child, now would it? Maybe after a while Shikaku could prove to be worth Laxus' time and effort to swat like the insect he was.
Now Laxus thought to something else. Were insects as weak as most thought they were? Hikaro was an Aburame, one who used insects. According to stories, insects utilized by the Aburame were quite fearsome. So maybe insects as an analogy wasn't the best thing to use. Taking Candy from a baby wouldn't work, he wasn't trying to steal something. Easy as pie didn't work because maybe Shikaku would have to prove himself to even earn the right for Laxus to kill him, so it wouldn't be as easy as making a small pastry. All in all, he'd have to think up a new analogy for how simple it would be to crush the child, or how hard if Shikaku was allowed to grow and mature. Undoubtedly he would become much stronger much faster than Laxus due to the animosity nearly everyone felt toward Laxus. Even Sora was taking digs at Laxus. Sora was the one person Laxus thought would have either liked him due to her amiable personality, or suffered silently as his personality slowly grated on hers until she just decided to quit and just leave him alone. At least then Laxus could have had time to develop the persona he would soon be wearing to keep these people off his back. Heck, maybe if they were so bent on taking shots at him he'd become even more so how they viewed him. It was true, if you call someone something they aren't, they more than likely accept that as a fact. Then if ambition is a personality trait that person has, it could become quite out of hand. In essence, he would become what they called him. If that was annoyingly arrogant, then that's what they would get. If it was friend, that's what they would get. Laxus had grown tired, Sora calling him pout-y was the last straw. Looking up, and running his hand through his hair he noticed the gesture of the Raikage. Turning he walked to the door and pulled the door open bowing as he did so. "After you Captain." He said a smile on his face. It wasn't forwardly sarcastic, but there seemed to be an exaggerated air around him as he did so.

Shikaku bowed to the Raikage as they were dismissed, and taking two steps backwards, turned around to walk to the door, just in time to see Laxus, who had moved that little bit faster open it and blatantly mock their team leader. A surge of anger rose deep inside of him at that. He may not have been the best in the academy, but he had read all the books. Respect for your superiors was nestled at the heart of every text on team dynamics and strategy. Even the village laws held that respect in high regard, as it was what held the village together, and kept individuals from leaving and going rogue, as so many had in the past.
Forcing the anger down though, as he was in no place to call it out, Shikaku kept to his act, cocking his head to the side as a thought came to mind. "I think I understand him now..." he said quietly, staring directly at Laxus. The others in the room would almost definitely miss the vague reference, as only he and Laxus were aware of Shikaku's reading his mission report. If the boy had acted this way in the presence of the Kazekage, it would certainly explain the actions he had written about.
Leaving Laxus with that reminder that he held information the boy, evidently from their previous meeting didn't want made public, Shikaku quickly stepped through the open door and headed to the stairs, slowing down halfway there as he remembered that Sora had mentioned discussing further details on the way. He had all of his equipment on him, so he had no need to head home before the mission, so there was no reason to run very far ahead.

《Blue Bird》 《Run Around》 Sora sensed the sarcasm and the exaggeration in Laxus's voice and grew worried. the girl fretted as she made one last bow to the Raikage before following everyone else out,
Upon catching up, Sora shook off the worried look on her face, which had become sort of perpetual lately. She needed to clear a few things up first. "Shikaku," she started with an inquisitive look, "I hope I was right in guessing you're good at hiding yourself?" then she turned to Laxus, "And Laxus, did I do something to offend you? I'm sorry if I did, and even if you can't accept my apology, can you at least hold off any grudges until after this mission?". A double meaning was actually tied to the word "grudges." First was, of course, any grudges Laxus might have held to Sora so that they could work together properly. Second was any grudges held towards Kensei that might excite Laxus to take advantage of this chance for revenge. The three of them were dispatched to capture Kensei; that was all she wanted to do. No more for the sake of her village and no less for the sake of her now rogue friend and the belief that he could be convinced to return to being a lawful shinobi.
As she talked, she continued walking down the stairs. Bad bad BAD combination. Sora's foot missed a step just as she finished talking. She lurched forward and, unable to re-balance herself, took the inevitable tumble to the door, which stopped her with a mellow "whump." Mercifully, she had tripped on one of the lower stairs, turning any potentially serious injuries into mere bruises and scratches.
Upside down and disheveled, Sora did not look amused. She sighed helplessly before righting herself up and dusting herself off as the other two came down.

Cryptic message meant to scare me into submission? Shikaku was getting worse at playing mind games. If Laxus did well on capturing Kensei, he'd have a chance at being forgiven for writing it in a sectioned off shinobi only part of town. In reality, Shikaku could be reprimanded for it since he had removed his ninja gear in order to sneak up on him making Laxus blind to him. Internal espionage was something to be expected, but to use it as blackmail would be ever so slightly against the whole village as a whole image. Laxus followed Sora out of the room turning to shut the door and giving an actual friendly smile to the Raikage. "We'll return soon with either Kensei in custody, or in body bags." He said shutting the door.
Turning to face the other two, he heard Sora speak up. "No, I just didn't think I was being pout-y. I don't accept your apology because there is nothing to apologize for, I misrepresented my feelings at the moment, and so you came to the wrong conclusion. Hopefully at some point our feelings will become easily discerned and known for what they are." He said laughing lightly. "As for holding the grudges until after the mission, I'll try." He said smiling and running his hand through his hair once more. He wasn't sure why she'd use that word, instead of hostility. Maybe she was trying to cover for Shikaku? That would prove interesting, but like he said, he'd try. He at least wouldn't directly endanger Shikaku in any way. But he also wouldn't cover the child if it inconvenienced him. Shikaku seemed sure of himself, so it would be Shikaku's fault if he got hurt. "But could we please stop talking about such things now and about the mission instead? How much of Kensei's information was missing that you know of?" He asked, wondering just how much the file didn't show that she knew.
As Sora fell, Laxus quickened his step, furthering the distance between him and Shikaku who stood directly behind him. He reached out a hand only to have it grasp air as Sora escaped his grasp. "Sora, are you okay?" He said, leaning forward on the stairs, his hand righting to it's original position by his side, and his face looking down to her.

ShikakuKumogakure | Spy | GeninSupport | Speed~
Shikaku held his silence as the other two caught up to him, even after Sora asked him a question, though that was mainly because she promptly continued, speaking to Laxus as well, followed by Laxus immediately responding. it really left little room for him to reply. As the boy spoke, Shikaku couldn't help comparing it to his first meeting with him. The tone was consistent with some of the things he'd said before. What he could only assume to be an attempt at sounding wise and powerful, though personally he found it more along the strain of awkward. And despite the apparent attempt at reassurances, Shikaku still got a bad feeling from the boy. He certainly wouldn't be relying on his support if he could help it. What a great start to the mission... Shikaku sighed, shaking his head to himself.
As they reached the stairs, or rather about halfway down them, Shikaku's eyes widened at a sudden sight and sound. Sight being Sora tipping off balance, sound being that of a foot slipping off the edge of the step. He went to move forward, catch her arm, or something, but found himself cut off as Laxus stepped into his path from where he had been more to his side, slightly behind even. And then promptly failed to catch the girl. Shikaku stumbled a bit himself, from having to cut off his own momentum to keep from sending himself and Laxus down the stairs as well. Once he'd righted himself, he scowled at the boy. Why had he done that? Able to see from here that Sora was okay, if a little banged up, he held back, allowing several paces to be put between himself and Laxus. He didn't know if that move was intentional or just a stupid mistake, but suddenly he really didn't want Laxus behind him.
