Zooey opened her eyes when she heard Todd speak to her directly... again? She pondered his question for a moment before breaking into a smile. "Laughing babies," she said with a laugh. "Whenever I'm in a bad mood I'll watch laughing baby videos on YouTube... They're so cute... But if I'm not next to a computer I think about arguing with my mom. Weird, I know, but she's more like a sister than a mom... We usually argue about things best friends would, like shoes or where to eat out..." She chuckled, surprised by how much better she felt. "Thank you, Todd," she said softly. "And thank you, Courtney."

Courtney Berkly Surprised that she had been thanked, Courtney got up off of the couch and headed in the direction of the snack table to get more punch. "Well, you're welcome but all credit belongs to this gentleman right here!" She had came up behind Todd and messed up his hair with her hand as she spoke. Then with another approving smile, she took her seat on the couch again. Taking a sip of her punch, Courtney was surprised that she had won this round of apples to apples. "Well hey! That's cool, I won a round!" Courtney moved the green card back towards her and then pulled the next card that read "Exciting". She took another sip of her punch as she looked around and noticed Brett, she then realized he had been kinda quite for a little while. "You don't even seem a little phased by the power outage, is this a prank to freak everyone else out?" She joked. She was hoping that this might get him to talk a little.

Brett was still "looking at his cards" when Courtney spoke to him. "What's that?" he asked, lowering his cards. "No! It's not a prank! You know I'm not that mean." He chuckled and leaned on the arm of the couch. "I'm just not bothered by the loss of electricity or the dark. I also find candlelight to be relaxing. It certainly fits Rachel's planned 'romances'." He smiled and looked over at his sister.
It was Rachel's turn to sit silently, which was uncharacteristic of her since she was the more talkative twin. However, she was glad that Brett was talking to Courtney. Rachel did not know Brett's feelings toward Courtney, since he usually kept things like that to himself, but she hoped that their kiss could turn into something more. That was the reason for this game after all. Rachel smiled, keeping her gaze on the coffee table. She should probably kiss James soon so she could figure out what he thought... Rachel's phone buzzed in her pocket and she wondered who it could be. Her parents had gone somewhere without a phone signal so it could not be them. Reaching into her pocket, Rachel produced her cell phone and her heart sank at the name.

Courtney Berkly Courtney giggled slightly. She supposed that he was right, it did fit the plan that Rachel had set up and if it weren't for the slight fear that had appeared when the lights went out, Courtney might have assumed Rachel had this planned for the lights to go out. In that moment, Courtney had looked out the window and saw the snow, it was peaceful and nice. She was never on for the cold weather but once the snow arrived she was too distracted to really care about the cold. After a moment of staring at the snow, Courtney focused her attention back into the room and she watched James move closer to Rachel, it was obvious to her they both liked each other and she hoped that Rachel had chosen his name so that things might grow between them. "I guess I have to agree with you there, it is relaxing and it does fit the plan. I just wonder how much longer the power is going to be out," Courtney said pleasantly.

Rachel did not look up when James asked if she was alright. She did not even shake her head. Instead, she stood up and grabbed a candle, which she took with her to the kitchen. Setting the candle down on the counter, Rachel answered her phone. "H-hello?" she asked in a shaky voice. "Hey, it's Scott... If you deleted my number... I... I know this is going to sound like I planned the whole thing out, but before you say anything just listen to me..." Scott took a deep breath. "I was on my way back into town to visit my grandparents for the holidays... You know how my parents get during this time... Anyways... this snowstorm practically came out of nowhere and I don't want to risk driving the rest of the way... And... well... I happen to be parked outside your house right now... You know it's the quickest way there! I swear I didn't plan this out..." Rachel leaned back against the fridge. "You're... here...?" she asked in a small voice. She did not know how to react to this information. She and Scott had dated for almost two years before he mysteriously disappeared. She had to find out from his best friend that he and his parents had moved out of state. Countless times she tried to contact him but he never responded. It was almost as if the time they spent together meant nothing to him... "Yeah... So... Would it be alright if I came in and waited for either the snow to die down or a plow to clear the road...?" "I... I guess so?"
Brett shrugged. "Who knows?" he said, smiling at Courtney's casual tone. "All I know is that I don't mind it and it's your turn to judge." He smirked before looking up and watching Rachel bolt out of the room. So much for not leaving the room by herself, he thought. Although, he did wonder why she had left in such a hurry.

James Wilson James watched as Rachel left the room and frowned a little,"I hope she's alright..."He said before picking his cards up again,"So how's judging? I was a little distracted."He said faking a laugh, he was a little worried about Rachel and hoped nothing was wrong. Or that he hadn't said anything stupid.

Courtney Berkly Courtney was worried by the way Rachel had left the room in such a rush, the phone call she had must have been important for her to just up and leave. She was pulled from her thoughts by Brett letting her know it was her turn to judge. "Right, of course. I pulled the card 'exciting'," Courtney smiled as she pointed to the card that she had just recently flipped from the pile of green cards. Then her eyes flickered in the direction that Rachel had left the room. "I think I'm going to go check on Rachel real quick, make sure everything is alright. I'll be right back," Courtney lifted herself from the couch and headed for the kitchen. As she entered she noticed Rachel by the candle she had set on the counter. "Hey, is everything alright? You left the living room in such a rush, it had me a little worried," Courtney had whispered the words just in case Rachel was still on the phone.

Scott thanked Rachel and hung up his phone, leaving her standing in stunned silence. She lowered her phone from her ear and just stared across the kitchen. She did not even hear Courtney approach and jumped when she spoke. "I... I..." Rachel tried to explain what had just happened but she could not find her voice.
"'Exciting'..." Brett said, looking down at his cards. "Well isn't that... exciting..." he smirked and put down 'Fireworks'. Courtney then announced that she was going to check on Rachel and he nodded. "Good idea." Barely a minute had passed before the doorbell rang. "That's strange..." Brett said to himself. "Who would be here in this weather?" Picking up a candle, he stood up and walked over to the front door. He unlocked it and opened it up to reveal Scott. "Hey Brett..." he said, slowly raising a hand in a wave.

Zooey smiled to herself as she watched Brett and Courtney interact with one another. She curiously watched Rachel leave the room but thought nothing of it. Not until she was gone for a few minutes and Courtney volunteered to check on her. Zooey frowned slightly and played 'Penguins' before the doorbell rang. She watched Brett get up to answer the door and heard another boy's voice from the hallway. I wonder who that could be, Zooey thought. The voice sounded familiar, but she could not be sure until she saw who it belonged to.

Courtney Berkly Courtney nearly jumped back herself when she noticed just how surprising it was for Rachel that she was there. Courtney drew in a breath as she awaited Rachel's answer but it seemed that the words just wouldn't come and within seconds the doorbell had rung. Confused, Courtney looked back towards the living room and then back at Rachel. "Who was that on the phone?" Curiosity was thick through her words, Courtney made no attempt to hide it. She couldn't be sure but if it was who she thought it might have been, well she had a few choice words for him. Courtney remembered when Scott had just up and disappeared, she remembered the pain Rachel had went through and the time it took for her to just give up trying to contact him. Two years together, you'd think he'd at least have the decency to say good-bye. Courtney disliked Scott after what he had done to Rachel, it was horrible watching her friend go through that.

Rachel felt her eyes start to sting and she did not bother to blink back the tears. "It was Scott..." she said softly, glancing toward the kitchen door. "He... he was on his way to his grandparents'... He doesn't want to drive..." Rachel covered her face with her hands. "I told him he could stay here until the storm passed..."
Before Brett could register that it was actually Scott standing on his front porch, his arm shot out and he grabbed him by the front of his jacket. "What are you doing here?" Brett asked, glaring at his sister's ex. "C-calm down, Brett!" Scott said, trying to pry Brett's hand off his jacket. "I called Rach... She... she said it was okay for me to stay here for a little bit... I don't want to drive through this weather..."
Rachel heard Scott's voice in the hallway and wiped away the tears. She slowly walked into the hallway and made her way to the front door. "It's alright, Brett," she said, placing a hand on her brother's shoulder. She kept her hand in place until Brett finally let Scott go. "Come in, Scott..."

Courtney Berkly Courtney heard Rachel but it took her a few moments to fully process it. Courtney had hoped that it was someone else on the other line, she had hoped it had been her parents or just anyone else. After so long she thought there was no chance that Scott would ever try to contact Rachel again and after everything he had put her through it only seemed fair that he would leave her alone. Really? Scott?... Before she had time to even finish her thought, Courtney watched Rachel hurry out of the room to the front door. Courtney took her time making her way out of the kitchen. She crossed her arms over her chest and took a deep breath before finally reaching the front door where she saw Brett holding Scott by the shirt and Rachel trying to get Brett to let go. After a moment, Brett had let go of Scott and Courtney drew in another breath. After Rachel had allowed Scott inside, Courtney took a moment before speaking because she wasn't sure if her words would over step any lines but then realized that everyone deserved to at least know. "So, Scott, what are you doing back here?" Courtney tried to sound as pleasant as she could despite how she felt about him.
