After only skimming several books, Ryan felt like bashing his head into a wall. He liked reading, yes, but research was definitely not one of his strong points. All this information, ( face it, there was a lot ) and having to find specific things about an unknown creature was enough to make his head spin. How were they even supposed to research something without even knowing what it is in the first place?
Not to say that his effort didn't go to complete waste. He had found some useful information, sure, and who knows, it might come in handy, but he was also sure it wasn't anything that could make the difference in their mission.
With a sigh, he continued to sit in his corner and read, hoping someone else in his group was having better luck at this than he was.

Research, huh? It was a good thing that she hadn't forgotten all her researching techniques from school, and it was also fortunate that she didn't actually mind the act of pooling over books for hours on end. Eva started with a huge stack by books and, flipping through each of them one by one, jotted down any notes that she found relevant to their topic.

Dakota grinned as he got to hold Ariane's hand, it was smaller then his and very feminine. Just the way he liked them. As they started their research, he bent close to her and continued to read, point out some information and such.
When the text message came from Julie, He peeped over her shoulder before sighing. "Really Julie?" Was all he said, as they we're thrown off there information.
Did that mean what they gathered wasn't right? Time to hit the books again.
"Damn, Here we go again." He sent a smile to Before and Ariane, "Rendezvous back here?"

Kat was more than happy to have Ceres in their group. From what she had seen, she was pretty decent woman, and quite nice to boot. "Good to have you with us!" She grinned, patting the other female hunter on the shoulder.
Nodding to Gale, she turned her attention to Aria as she spoke. Looks like they would be doing research..great. Something she was not looking forward to at all. "Ugh..books." Vanessa gave another nod to Tori, and then watched as the two young men Wilson had called over came to join them. The life trainee of the pair looked rather relieved to be able to join their group. As he shook her's and Tori's hands, Vanessa gave a nod and said, "The pleasure is mine. I'm Vanessa, by the way." The red-head didn't really know very many of the other trainees, so meeting others from her own division would probably be a great thing to do, along with to figure out who she worked well with.
Then Aria came forward and told them about their current mission. Vanessa gave a nod, brow furrowing slightly at the task. Researching without any particular starting point? Sounded like a challenge. But it would be good to learn how to do such research quickly. The prizes, too, were quite the incentive.
She nodded to Wilson and Tori when they mentioned how good the prizes would be, then followed after her group as they headed toward the library.
Upon entering, Vanessa did as her group had, and started up searching through texts to see what they could find out about this unknown enemy.
Vanessa, more or less, managed to find the similar amounts of information. She could've done better had it not been for Volt making jobs about literally any book she had out in front of her. Near the middle, right after her best find of the day, Volt just went off into such a long sprawling line of wisecracks that she got absolutely nothing done for an hour. Finally when the research was done and Wilson had voiced his question, Vanessa said, "I could've done better, but I did find out some things about our potential enemy." Her group was pulling together quite a good research compilation, actually. Especially Wilson's contributation. Vanessa was suitably impressed by the amount of information that the death trainee had found. With a look of confusion in his eyes, Wilson kept smiling. Of all the things, he had not been expecting Leon to walk over and wrap him in a bear hug. “No problem. The more the merrier, right?
As the other members began to share their own results, he got up and looked at the information everyone else had gathered. His smile disappeared, replaced by a thin line as Wilson plopped back in his seat. Arms crossed, the trainee slid down his chair while he pondered. He mulled it over in silence before his face lit up and he nearly fell out of his chair. “I got it! I know what we’re looking for.” Excited, Wilson flipped open some of the books sprawled across the table. He settled on a page and traced the lines with his fingers. “Anddd here’s some info about it. Before does not know better than to be surprised that Julie's information was a dead end. Looks like they were going back to the books :/ "Uhhhhh, s-sure, I guess?" he shrugged at Dakota's suggestion. As long as he wouldn't have to spend too much time with Ariane he'd be coo~. He's actually rather impressed with himself! Before has managed to keep himself from saying more than five words to the death trainee! That... that's rather impressive to the usually talkative Before.
He was quick to scurry off to continue researching. Using Julie's info as a springboard, he managed to gather additional information. It wasn't as detailed as his first research, but it was decent in his opinion. Hopefully, his teammates would agree...

The text from Julie made her face palm, and she quickly got back to the books at Dakota's suggestion. In this time, she didn't find very much at all; instead, when it was time to compile the information, she was probably a little more helpful, connecting the dots with whatever they had gathered so far... Before did a surprisingly good job, and she couldn't resist giving him a pat on his back, even if she had a feeling it would make him flinch or something. After the compilation was done, she figured that they had just about enough information for them to actually get down to the trapping preparation part of the mission.
"Ready for some training?" She looked at her teammates, "I think we should do some drills next, to prepare ourselves to meet this... Thing, now that we know its traits." Honestly, she had a feeling she would be back to hit the books and the internet later, but for now, she would rather get a bit of training in... Staying in the library was making her feel like taking a nap.Day One Group: 4

Tedan pulled the book Wilson had toward him and flipped it back open, reading for a few minutes before nodding. "All right, cool ... I think I know what we should do to prepare to fight this thing. Since I guess I'm supposed to be in charge of that, huh?" He offered his team members a smirking sort of grin, especially Leon. "It's just gonna be tricky trying to catch it without killing it. So I think we'll try and focus on that tomorrow. We should meet up by the training grounds pretty early so we can get a good start." With a nod to Gale, confirming that she indeed did know Kat and Ryan, she sent a knowing grin as said female greeted her. "Good to be here." Not saying much in between Aria's speech and while everyone chose where to go, Ceres figured it would be best to pool their efforts in to one circle and go with that. So? She quickly followed after her group and went to the library. Inwardly she felt a sudden... glee that this was where they had chosen to go. A LIBRARY! That meant books! Sure boring research books but... the feel of holding a book again, being able to read. It was so much more than she could imagine! ...And probably a lot more boring. Giving Ryan a c**k eyed grin, it was a look filled with challenge. Ceres did not know exactly why, but she had a faint competitive feeling with the man. He was in her division after all... what was a little friendly competition? Grabbing a book she moved over and sat down on the floor, back to a wall, tucking her legs up against her body to prop the book on as she flipped pages. Odd position yes, but it was comfortable! Though just as she was flipping another page... the moon hunter jumped, as a noise that was becoming all too familiar sounded. Flipping open her phone... she stared at it stupidly for two reasons. A: the message.... and B: How the hell had julie gotten her number? "...Got a message from Julie... She is apparently saying they look more like...ponies?" If anyone asked she would have shown them the text in its entirety. No need to announce brownie making night if she could help it! Once more, she flipped the phone open again and replied... zoomutt ....What the heck does that mean? -Ceres More information couldnt hurt....right? The piles and piles of written text that littered the table looked as exhausting as it was for Leon to rifle through. The only saving grace was wikipedia and its tendency to cause subliminal browsing. The articles went from ninjas, to pirates, to sailors and by the time an hour passed, Wikipedia was on the topic of girls scouts. "Well I managed to rule out a few things that the invader might be, I'm still unsure if I can rule out Girl Scouts and their cookie runs yet." the boxer managed to call out to Wilson and Tedan and the squad that sat almost imprisoned in the books like a sarcophagus in a pyramid. At least until the hunter was brought out of his stupor by the text from Julie that took him by surprise. Julie - Do you prefer reindeer headbands or Santa hats? And the text just didn't make that much sense as he looked at it in a stupor before calling out again. "Maybe it revolves around something based on Christmas lore?"
And then Wilson managed to figure out the meaning of life. "You figured it out dude? Great!" he cried out and tossed the book aside and wiped his hands of the research. "Dear god Tedan, don't get us all killed alright?" It wasn't so much that Jordan was terrible at research as that he had no real idea what he was looking for. Between that rather large problem and the somewhat smaller problem of having a bored weapon distracting him at least once every ten minutes, he wasn't finding much good information to contribute. An article or two, a couple of scattered paragraphs, and a whole chapter in one book was about it. By the end of the day he was thoroughly frustrated and out of sorts. On the first day, Aria waited until she could no longer hear the trainees as they filed out. Her shoulders slumped with relief: it was over. The first part, at least. When she put out the notice, she was expecting to receive only a handful of hunters. Five or ten on short notice, what with the alert going out in the late evening at twenty-one hundred hours. She did not expect to have the entire ******** trainee force show up. She could have easily canceled the order and tried again later. Instead she stuck with it, trying to remember how to address a group. Already she missed her three months of isolation. At least then she could choose whether or not to interact with the locals. But even then, the last time she did that-- Just the bare, idle thought was enough to make the mist huntress clamp both hands over her mouth, shaking with the effort to contain the retch that threatened to sicken her. Even the sleeping pills she took every night weren't enough to help her forget. How could she? She could still recall his smile as he approached her slowly before reaching out, touching the hem of her coat before darting back. That was enough to break the ice. Now? The only think unbroken was the gaze he held on the sky, his eyes clouded with death. Agony traced every line in his body. She could count every broken bone in his body, made easier by the sunken skin even though his body was twisted and -- A cold feeling settled over her shoulders, wrapping around her. It felt like something had drawn her close, but when she looked up there was nothing there. Aria realized that she had been crying. She rubbed her eyes while her weapon rumbled softly at her, sending soothing thoughts. It didn't matter that it was, for all intents and purposes, a psychic hug. It was enough. Aria wiped her eyes and stood up slowly, unaware that she had slid to the floor while caught up in her memory. She was the Mist Leader; she had no time to deal with the past. She straightened her shoulders, pausing briefly to pull a pocket mirror out of her pocket to look at herself. Puffy eyes, damn! At least she didn't bother with makeup. Aria shook her head, closing the pocket mirror with a snap before striding out the room. She had trainees to check on. During day one, Aria wasn't seen. She did not appear in the library, nor was she seen after. The only indication that Aria was there was a simple printed sheet of paper that appeared on top of every Hunter's notes from researching: Quote: Trainees: While I encouraged you to go visit the library, I did not say that you had to stay in the library. What sort of creature are you supposed to hunt? All I told you was that you needed to hunt it, and that it appeared in the wilderness of Deus Ex. I am disappointed that none of you visited the surveillance headquarters. There are video monitors surrounding Deus Ex and keeping track of what's going on -- how else did you think we were aware that there were trespassers on the island? The surveillance room is running 24/7 and is manned by members of all divisions. You merely needed to go in and brief them on what you needed, and one that was bored would have been able to assist. That is, providing you can even find the place and get past the security. Surely going up to the second floor and looking at the second door on the right isn't too difficult for you trainees, is it? After all, information gathering is part of research. Sadly, Google does not hold all of the answers. Also, do not spend all your time on Wikipedia. That does not hold all the answers either. Hell, did any of you even stop to consider if I knew what your prey was? A simple question could have saved you several hours of research. Please learn to use your heads and think. Nobody is going to hold your hand. Please drop by the surveillance room sometime today to verify what you are hunting. If you do not have the proper information, at least you have valuable information for a particular specie. Ask Julie or myself questions if you have them. Asking a stupid question now just may save your a** in the future. - Aria (( No need to do any special mechanics/rolls for dropping by the surveillance room to confirm your group's prey. You guys can hand-wave going there or just mention it in passing. Specific details about what you guys will be hunting won't show up until the end. There's too many of you to do research/give specifics to "enhance" the current RP unfortunately. Feel free to make things up/give your creature a codename in the meantime, though. ))

So they had a pretty good start with things. Feeling that they had enough information in the meantime, Deryk set the researching aside to begin working on what the heck he needed to do about this. Target X as he called it wouldn't be easy to capture. He wanted to make sure he had a basic idea he knew what to do about it before hitting up the information once more. Well... he did alright. Sort of. While he would have liked to push himself harder, he didn't quite have the endurance to do just that. So he paced himself instead.
