I like Amy Pond........ >.> Though Catherine Tate was almost enough to make me stop watching it... almost. Cannot stand that woman ><
That line up is hard to argue with, though for me it's Matt, then Big Ears

In contrast, I cannot stand Amy Pond, but absolutely loved Donna Noble(To the point where she's my third favorite companion). emotion_awesome
I just really don't see much that I like in these companions so far. I'm not completely sure what I hate about Amy, I just do. Rory is every bit of a p***y that Mickey was in series 1 of the revived series, with none of his charm or character. And River has some funny moments and one liners, but beyond that she's just a really bland 90s action heroine with overused innuendo.
In sharp contrast, I have loved every single one of the 9th and 10th Doctors' companions so far(yes, even Astrid and the other one shots). My favorite companions are Sarah Jane Smith, Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Jack Harkness, and Wilfred Mott.

-cough- K9 -cough-
Mickey bugged me, don't know why, he just struck me as stupid. I'll give you Rory and River though, wasn't a fan of River when she was introduced to Tennant, but I'm pretty sure the purpose of Rory is just to provide the contrast between normalcy and the Doctor in regards to Amy's internal moral conflict. Yes I read this far into characters.
But yeah, I liked all of the other companions.

I actually liked River. 3nodding
She was one of the only companion's of the doctors that did not exactly depend on him. Like his others.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. I think River depended on the Doctor more than anyone because, were it not for the Doctor, River Song would simply not exist.
Kandrix: K-9 was ******** awesome, he's just not in my top 5. He's number 6 on that list(just BARELY beating out Ace). Believe me, I've got a top 10 list for just about everything. biggrin

I can agree with you there because she was conceived near the time stream and had it not been for Amy becoming his companion and him being so found of her, Melody would not have been abducted by the lady with the eye patch (can't remember her name) and we would not have River.
However unlike all of the Doctors other companions River doesn't need him to bounce her around time and space. She can do that all on her own. Yes the doctor does bounce around a bit with her and putting aside the fact that the big secret is out that they're married. (Sorry if I'm spoiling this for anyone.) But the others are in such awe of the Doctor and so willing to do what ever he says with out question. River is either on the same exact level with him or one step ahead of him.
Granted with how they have it set up the doctors first time meeting her is the last time she sees him does have a bit to do with the fact that she's so different from the others.
There has only been one other companion that I've seen that remotely was able to do that and that was Rose. But still Rose had her limitations.

I wasn't talking about her conception, I was more or less talking about the events in Let's Kill Hitler, which arguably is the sole reason that River Song exists.
And the Silence lady with the Eye Drive is Madame Kovarian.
And Sarah Jane Smith ended up being just as, if not more, independent considering all the awesome s**t she did in the Sarah Jane Adventures. Let's not forget the fact that Jack Harkness single handedly killed Abaddon, repelled the 456(albeit by sacrificing his grandson), and with Rex Matheson's help reversed the Miracle. I don't think River is unique in that regard, though I do think she's unique in that she was the first person able to get the Doctor to trust her enough with his name, and obviously must be something special according to him, I just personally don't see much in her.

*Looks in OOC*
*sees talk about Doctor Who*
*is happy, until he realizes that he has only seen a few episodes, and is only faintly familiar with one Doctor, played by David Tennant*

River was too transparent for me, character wise; she was just too damn obvious. And the bit of mystery they did try to shroud her with didn't really work. I mean, who didn't figure out that she "killed" the Doctor? Then when you add in her gung-ho tactics, it just felt juvenile.
I still haven't forgiven Rose for touching the bloody Dalek -.-
That being said, still haven't forgiven the writers for tweaking the Dalek's and making them levitate -.-

I honestly never minded the flying Daleks thing. I just saw it as technological evolution brought about by experience(perhaps as a result of the Last Great Time War? History shows war time is also when technology sees the most growth).
I mean, at some point Davros had to go "You know what? There's something wrong when my creations meant to be the ultimate race keep getting their asses handed to them by ******** staircases."

-British street urchin voice- Welcome back, everyone!
That's why he gave them a beam disruptor! It had nothing to do with blowing up timelords, it was all about exacting revenge on stairs!!!!
