Freshman / Ninth Grader

Lichtenstein shifted her groceries so she was holding all of her bags on one arm and rubbed the back of her neck shyly before shifting the bags back so the weight was even. (After all, the amount in the bags combined was pretty heavy...) "I am sorry you felt so lonely today. It's sort of hard for me to explain what exactly happened without going into a lot of details. Sorry... But, yes, I am feeling a lot better." Her chest still hurt a little from the pain of knowing one of her roommates was definitely missing now, but she wouldn't burden Charlotte with that sort of thing. Instead, she smiled lightly before she sat her bags down by the table Charlotte had picked earlier. She accepted the notes and looked down to them before smiling lightly to them and then up to Charlotte. "It is no problem, really. I'm just glad you were able to get some notes for me to copy. And you're probably right about Peter. If anything, I hope he was in the Principal's office trying to become an official student so that he won't have to sneak around the school. It would be a shame if he was caught and kicked out of the school. He seems so friendly and kind." When a server came to the table, Lili asked for (not ordered, but literally asked if she could have) a sandwich and some tea.

"I love to see you working hard,
...but please don't over do it.
I'm worried sick about you."

Charlotte felt bad seeing Lili carry all those groceries. She scolded herself for not helping her out. "That's fine, I'm used to long stories." she smiled. There were all sorts of old tales that she listened to towards the mountians at home, and some were kinda of interesting. Even a lot of wacky silly songs people used to sing.

"That would be great if he did." she chuckled as she added "and he reslemble England a little." North Carolina ordered chocolate pie and a glass of milk. "A little birdy told me that a few of my siblings are attending at the school now. Things are gonna get a bit interesting that's for sure."

Lili nodded. Should she tell Charlotte what all happened when she didn't rally understand it herself? Maybe a little later.

At the mention of the North Carolinian's siblings, Lili blinked lightly. She must be talking about the other states. There were 50 of them, and they were in America, so it shouldn't be too surprising that a couple more of them had come to the school.
"I met one of your sisters today on my way to the store. She seemed..." And that's where Lili got silent. It wasn't that she didn't like Massachusetts. It was a simple fact that she was... A bit odd, but not in a cute little flaw sort of way. She was odd in the sense of she was a bit creepy and morbid with a touch of slightly unfiltered and disturbed. Lili had been through a lot in her life, but clearly this girl had been through a lot more if she got excited at the idea something terrible happened.... And that just wasn't right." "....Friendly?" Sure. Let's use that. After all, Lili never had been one to say anything bad about some one (unless she was asked for an honest opinion, then you might want to sit down and hold onto your seat), and this was her new best friend's sister they were talking about. "Although, Leah has a funny accept compared to you... Actually, now that I think about, you and Alfred don't really speak the same way either even though you're all a part of the same country. Why is that?"

"Oh really?" so Lili met her sister already. "Yeah, Leah is a bit... uh out there. Then again each of us could be considered odd." referring to her family. Charlotte is a bit too honest but she did her best to be polite. She doesn't approve of Massy's ways but she is still part of the American family.
The Carolina laughed lightly when her friend asked as to why they weren't much like their nation. "I could sit here and tell ya till the cows come home but to make a long story short..." she thought for a moment trying to find the best words to use. "Well to start off America is a pretty huge area. In a way America is like like Europe and the states are the individual countries but all ruled under the same government. Northern states like Massachusetts claim to speak as they claim 'proper' english while southern states like myself have a twang or rather we slur our words together (as some will say) with the exception of Florida. The western states are kinda boring unless its Texas and California." Charlotte wrinkled her nose in thought. "As for Alfred himself, I would say his personality is more like those that live in big cities mixed with the Texan spirit."

The way Charlotte explained the accents by comparing it to how the nations of Europe were like made it much easier for Lili to understand. There were quite a few countries that spoke German besides Ludwig, and it was sort of easy to tell where they came from if you heard the way they spoke often enough and if you listened to them carefully. "That makes a lot more sense. Thank you for explaining that to me. I suppose I should be prepared to hear any kind of English at this point so as not to get confused by what is being said. After all, I know you, your siblings, Alfred, Muttie- ah! S-sorry. Mattie. His name is Mattie, not Muttie- and Arthur speak English as a main language. But I'm sure the rest of us who don't speak English every day sound a little funny speaking your language." Lili had started blushing bright red as soon as she messed up Mattie's name (and accidently call him "Mother" more or less as she messed up his name) and seemed to be slightly stuck on the embarrassing slip of the tongue. Maybe from now on she should call him Matthew so that way she wouldn't accidently call him "Muttie" again.

When she got her sandwich and tea, she greatfully accepted both so she could keep herself from saying anything else stupid.

The Carolina was glad that Lili was able to understand her explanation. Sometimes she didn't understand what she says herself. Charlotte didn't really think anything of the Lichtenstein's mistake until she noticed that look. That look of embarrassment. The southern recognized it since felt that a lot whenever she was nervous about something and tried to be polite as possible. "Don't beat yourself up over that. Those words do sound similar. At least you didn't do what I did once." Just then the waiter placed her plate in front of her and Charlotte took a sip of her drink before finishing her little tale. "I came across a mexican one day and of course he only spoke spanish and I only know bit of the language. I was trying to say 'embarrassed' in spanish but I ended up saying 'embarazada.' and that means something entirely different... let's just say the guy looked at me like I was nuts." she luaghed.

Alfred entered the cafe looking for the two girls. Once he saw them he calmly walked over smiling.
"Hello again."
He began with his charming smile.
"I hate to interrupted, but I just got a call from Maria, and it seems things are really bad tonight and she needs my help. This also means you two shouldn't be out alone and unarmed. So it would be best to continue your girl time back at the dorms."
He was trying to be as nice as posable, not to upset ether of them.

The southern girl turned to the fimilar voice. "Alfred! Hadn't seen ya since I seen last." she laughed letting her accent go thick as the hills while giving him a warm smile.

"Oh." Charlotte blinked and turned to Lili. They remembered well on what happened the previous night.Had it been late already? "Well if you're worried about us being unarmed, I don't suppose you got two revolvers to spare do ya?" she asked half joking. She didn't expect him to have any on hand for them, he needed them to defend himself. I should look into shipping my shotgun over to the school... wonder if that's allowed?

"I don't have any spare weapons, and I'd feel a lot better knowing the two of you are safe. Instead of worrying."

"Didn't think so, but it never hurts to ask" Charlotte stared at Alfred for a moment. Compared to lunch he actually seemed to be more of his real self now. Most of the time they think of him as the careless idiot but really he is just a stuborn b*****d with good intentions.... that doesn't always turn out like it should government wise.

Lili didn't quite understand the story her friend told her since she was lucky enough to have learned English over the Summer, so there was no way she knew any Spanish at all. Still, it was nice her friend wasn't making fun of her. Not that she had expected her to do so. After all, Charlotte was probably a best friend to Lili at this point.... She wasn't sure since she'd never had a best friend before, but she was pretty certain Charlotte was one.

When Alfred came in, Lili took to quietly eating her meal. Breakfast and Dinner were usually small for her, so the sandwich was just enough to fill her. Worst comes to worst, she had some left overs from the lunches she had made the past few days (she really needed to get a hand on cooking for one person rather than two) plus the lunch she hadn't eaten today. As the two Americans came to an agreement that they needed to leave soon, Lili finished what was left of her sandwich and tea before she reached into her bag and pulled out a small stack of money. She quickly shuffled through it before she had the exact amount of money to pay for her meal, Charlotte's cake and drink and a good tip for the waiter before she put the rest of the money away and smiled to the two.
"I suppose we should leave then. And don't worry Alfred, I'm sure we can handle ourselves if you need to go. Just be careful in anything you do tonight, alright? I've already lost one friend to those monsters, I don't want to lose any more." She stood up and gathered her grocery bags and made to to distribute the weight evenly since they were kind of heavy. Still, she didn't seem bothered by the weight. (And if she was, she made sure not to show it since there were more important things Charlotte and Alfred needed to worry about besides getting Lili's food and the materials to make Miss Fairy's dress to the dorms.)

Alfred shook his head.
"I'm not letting you two go out there with out a weapon. And since I only have the one, I plan to make sure the two of you get back safely. Maria sounded really nervous, and it takes a lot to scare that girl. So please don't fight me on this."
He gave Lili his best puppy look.

It didn't take Charlotte long to finish her food. She didn't expect Lili to pay for her and wasn't quite used to that since she normally would pay for herself. "That's mighty nice of ya." she smiled to her friend. "Let me help ya carry those. Don't want to strain yourself." grabbing a bag or two to help lighten the load.

Charlotte recognized that puppy look, he used it quite a bit growing up under Arthur's care. "Certainly isn't everyday Alfred acts like a total gentleman." Neither Charlotte nor Alfred knew of Lil's ability.

Lili was a little surprised that Charlotte was offering to help carry her things and was about to object when the girl went ahead and did it any ways. Well, it was nice not having to carry everything. It was pretty heavy having all of that weight in her hands.

She then turned to Alfred. She walked over to him and gave him a hard pinch-- the kind that had the potential to leave a bruise, but it wouldn't--and a stern look.
"Puppy eyes only work on me when it is an actual puppy." But she didn't seem all too upset with him thinking he needed to give her sad looks to get her to co-operate. If she felt someone had good intentions, which she knew Alfred meant well in making sure they went to the dorms safely, then she was more than glad to do as she was told so long as it didn't involving hurting anyone. With that, she stepped out of the cafe and took a few steps. As soon as she was officially off of the cafe's property, the hardly noticeable ring of light that had surrounded the shop seemed to form around her like a faint bubble. She paused and waited for her two friends. After all, Alfred was the one putting forth great effort to make sure they made it back safely, and Charlotte was her friend and was being kind enough to carry some of her bags for her. These were people she knew she could trust and didn't want to abandon. As they walked with her, they two would also be in the little bubble of light... But they would probably only know it if they could see or sense magic. In fact, the only way they would be able to know that anything was up was by the soft glow in the shape of a cross that seemed to come from under her shirt right above where her heart was.
