Sepheran blushed lightly, but luckily the place was dark enough so nobody could see him anyway. "Yes, you are right, surely at some point we will come across them," he agreed before looking back towards her. "So...shall we hit the dance floor now or move to see if there are some snacks first?" Sepheran questioned lightly.

He would be happy with either of those choices of course.

'I haven't eaten all day.' Arachne confessed. She hadn't been sure she could have, what with her nerves, and running around to get ready. So she hadn't eaten anything and the thought of food sounded good right now.

She was also really, really nervous about dancing. She wanted their first dance together to be just right.

Sepheran chuckled lightheartedly at her confession. "Well, let's head towards the food then, I could use a bite myself," the basilisk replied as he slowly began to move heading towards where he thought, and hoped was the area with the food in it.

Really he was just being lead around by his nose at this point. "Who knows, maybe the others are there as well, like killing two doves with one stone," he added.

Hasuko fidgeted with her dress' long sleeves, blushing a little at Riley's compliment. "Thank you." she said. "I picked it out myself. I've never been clothes shopping without my mother before, but it was fun. Pink's my favorite color."

Hasuko smiled a little to herself at the odd mental image of Riley in a girlish pink patterned dress. The mindflayer was right, pink wouldn't really suit her cool image.

"Well, if you don't mind." she said in reply to Malodore. "It is a bit awkward with just Mr. Plant for company," Hasuko said, referring to the potted plant she stood next to, "he doesn't talk much."

Hasuko moved away from the wall to join the pair. "Thank you. I was a little scared coming to the prom by myself." A lot scared, actually, but Hasuko didn't want to admit that.

Ys was a late arrival for a number of reasons. As she hurried along toward the sounds of mingling laughter, conversation, and music, she reviewed the time leading up to this moment. She had been on the fence about attending the prom, seeing as she was a new student, but had finally decided that this would be a good way to meet and mingle with some of the others. With her attendance decided, the next hurdle had been deciding on what to wear.

She had never been to a prom before and certainly never been to a formal event on land at all. With her rudimentary Interwebz skills put to the test, she had finally gotten an idea of what was appropriate at this sort of thing and put in a rush order to a rather swanky looking store called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Luck or Jack or something had been on her side as the dress that arrived not only looked like the picture on the Interwebz, but actually fit her. The moment she saw her reflection in that dead sexy outfit, her mind was made up.

The intervening days had flown by. She had met a few other students in chance encounters around campus and hoped to see some familiar faces tonight as well as some new ones. Her preparations for the gala had not been terribly extensive, though she had spent the usual amount of time for a self-conscious teenage ghoul fixing and re-fixing details that really didn't need to be touched at all. The other thing that had eaten up a great deal of her preparation time was debating with herself about shoes. She had managed to squeeze into a pair of fetching heels that matched her dress, but she felt so uncomfortable in them that she was sure she would never be able to dance. Perhaps she would just jettison them later if they become too much of a hindrance.

She was still trying to navigate her way about in the novel shoes when she found herself at the impressive display that was the doorway to the actual prom. Students were filtering in and she could hear the strains of a catchy tune ((YAY!)) spilling out to greet her. Excitement won over nervousness and she plunged into the crowd, swaying and sloshing to the music in her exquisitely scaled blue mermaid dress with a small decoration fixed to her helm to match. It seemed that many of the other students had brought dates with them and she admired the handsome pairs dotting the room as she took in the lay of the land.

Squinting past the bright lights, Cady thought she could see Deacon and Emily chatting somewhere in the crowd. If they had to dance, who would she dance with? Moreover, how did one dance? She sighed, and put her chin in her hand. This was a lot harder than she'd thought. Maybe she could n** out to the refreshments table...

Before her food fantasy could be realized, her elbow landed right on the 'next track' button.

Whoops. Oh well. She hoped everyone was ready for switch up. She idly wondered if Ash was having a good time.

"Thanks. I tried-- It turned out to be my best effort." Vaith informed the demoness, looking down in surprise as Xiu's pale hand reached in and brushed against his neck. He allowed her to fix his tie, tkaing the brief time to glance at her prom dress. He couldn't help but mirror Ren's thoughts: Xiu was really cute. Who knew girls could change so much with the right stuff? Vaith wondered if he had changed-- He thought he looked the same in the bathroommirror but Xiu said he looked good. He might as well take her word.

The reaper looked around, his fingers curling around his chin in a gesture of thought.

"Hm. How does this date thing work? I dont want to pull you away from your friends or anything so you can stay here if you want. I'm gonna head over to the snacks, I can fill up plates for the both of us. Tell me what you want?" Vaith offered in an attempt at being 'dately' polite. One hand lifted to loosen his collar, standing in his usual stand-offish manner as he glanced around the room.

"Unless you want to head to the snacks with me."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 4:23 am

Xiu hid a smile behind her hand, slightly amused by his offer. Vaith was certainly being quite gentlemanly, wasn't he? She considered her options carefully, even glancing over her shoulder so that her gaze could sweep over the others. Well, the music was already playing so she was certain that her friends would split off into their pairs soon and start dancing. Besides, though he did offer, Xiu would have felt bad sending Vaith to get food for her.

"If you don't mind me tagging along, I'll accompany you to the refreshment table. But with that being said..." She awkwardly reached up to rest a hand on his shoulder and smiled, amusement twinkling in her eyes, "There aren't any duties to being a date, right? Not for me, anyways, so just act natural! There's no reason to fret over what you're 'supposed' to do." From what she knew of him, she thought was Vaith a pretty considerate boil in general. She just wanted to make sure that he wouldn't feel like he had to act a certain way. If she could help it, all of her friends would have a fun and memorable prom night!

"Though..." There was a moment of pause before she teasingly added, "I suppose you could try to smile a little more tonight."

Speaking of smiling, the Baku suddenly remembered her camera, and promptly held it up for the reaper to see. "You don't mind if I snap a few photos tonight, do you? It's not everyday I see you in a suit!" Her tail waved from side to side as she looked up at him hopefully. At least with someone like Xiu, it could be trusted that she wouldn't use any photos for future blackmailing purposes.

She stifled a giggle before it became to hysterical as he reminded her of her own judgmental first meeting with the boil. "First impressions usually mean nothing unless you said something to each other. We didn't meet until earlier when you knocked on my door." She waved a hand airily as though to dismiss the whole circumstance. "I met SO many at the open house. I was trying to see everything, though, so I didn't really get to sit and talk with anyone who wasn't going to the booths with me." She shrugged.

The lights dimmed and she felt her date's hand press over her own. Looking around she saw as others lit up in the darkness as though they were ghosts. This time she didn't hold back the shrill laugh that escaped as she realized she herself was glowing almost ethereally in the black light. "No, you haven't. I was wondering when you would mention it." She gave a coy smile. "I guess I should add that you look very handsome yourself."

She fell silent as the performance began, gripping hold of Sparrow's arm in delight and a little tremor of fear as Oogie Boogie strolled onto stage. If she hadn't known that there was going to be an opening act by students she might have believed that it was THE Oogie Boogie rolling his dice and making not-so-idle seeming threats to the student body. When the lights surged and popped and everything fell into darkness she gave a few screaming cheers of approval amongst the clapping that roared afterward.

She'd had half a mind to head straight to the ScreeJay booth but... miraculously music began to play on it's own! A quick glance over told her that Cady had jumped into the booth, probably thinking that Ash hadn't arrived just yet. Well that was convenient. The ghostling decided to take advantage of the time she'd been given to stay with her date a bit longer. By the time the second song started with no intro Aislin realized that she probably should take over.

"I need to get to the ScreeJay booth, I think. Thank you for the corsage and lovely time. I promise you my first slow dance if you'll forgive me." She leaned in suddenly, then, and pressed chill lips against Sparrow's cheek. Slipping her hand from the crook of his arm she separated from him and made a first stop at the food table, picking up two cups of punch and heading once and for all over towards where Cady stood behind the booth, lights flashing around her.

"Cady." No reaction. "Cady!" Nope. She finally got right up beside the booth and shouted as loudly as she could. "CADY!" And then she shoved the cup into her friend and fellow ScreeJay's paw... hand? Pawhand. And then she stepped aside, grasping Cady's elbow and directing her away from the delicate electronics and leaned in close to her ear so she could be heard. "Don't EVER drink anything behind here! If you spill everything will be ruined and you don't want people to blame you for stopping prom! I'll take over for now! You did good with the first songs! Here, this is for you, too!" And she promptly held a spookie in front of the manticore's face as a reward.

Punch. Movement.

Spookie.

What was going- "ASH! OH! HI! Right, um. Electronics. Expensive. SPOOKIE?" She hadn't even looked up at the ghoul, her gaze fixed lovingly on the pastry. She'd never had one before Open House, but she'd really liked it, even though it got her in trouble when she got home. Seen...pictures. Spookies had sugar, and sugar was BAD. Except apparently it was allowed here. Hmm. She sipped her punch, which, unbeknownst to her was also laced with sugar. She wondered if that Riley ghoul knew there were spookies.

It was probably like, her civic duty to tell her, but she also really should be getting back to her dates. She obediently moved away from the table, with a backwards wave to Ash - her mind was on other things. Sugary things.

The lights blinking out didn't bother Calder, through he had first thought that this was all rather strange. Didn't they fix the light problem during rehearsals? Of course, then Barth came up and Christof dashed off. It helped to have night vision else he would be hitting trees when he ran in the woods at night. Here, it just gave him a look of the stage a tad bit before everything else, but the startling contrast of glowing white figures really put some strain on it. Like small beacons of strange moonlight floating in the crowd. Squeezing Invi's arm a bit, he watched with the others. While Calder had been around for sound testing and stage setup, there was no need for him to be here for these rehearsals. All of it was fresh and new to him, and having grown up with almost no technology, it was startling. He felt himself step back at the Oggie Puppet moved towards the crowd, and his eyes narrowing. It was eye catching if not bringing with it a sense of unease. Calder was happy for when it was over, though jerked a bit when the light-bulbs popped. One of the many noises that were straining his animal senses.

When that was done and the music and chorus of talking returned as if nothing had transpired, Calder breathed out. This all was a bit taxing on the senses, but he was here with Invictus and that alone energized him to no ends, giving him little wings on his hooves. Looking about, he noticed Barth with his date, and perked. He had heard of this ghoul before that had ensnared the demon's heart and was very curious. Turning to his date, he smiled. "I know a few people here. Would you like to come with me to meet a few people?" He asked, rising up from their seat at one of the many decorated tables and holding out his arm once more. Of course, Calder would be even giddier to show off his date a bit too.

If there was one thing the multi personality Hellhound could not agree on, it was with formal events. Much of the last week was spent shifting from one entity to another, one who wanted to go desperately, to one who clearly did not, to another that cared less and back around like a game of "duck, duck, vampire duck".

Damien's room was in disarray with his suits and tuxes either thrown haphazardly across any solid surface, or its pieces tattered and slashed open like strips of material lying on the floor.

Leather shoes managed to click against the floor where extravagant boots once adorned as the hound made his way into prom and all that awaited there. Everyone was flitting about in their elegant evening wear that made the green eared boil feel more uncomfortable as he quickly stepped in and to a table on the side where he could hide and pray that no one realized it was him.

At least the music was nice, hopefully enough to keep the awkward boil at ease for the rest of the night.

"Oh Jack, why the hell did Beta and Gamma have to forget about getting a date?" was the only thing on the hounds mind, his arm never felt lighter.

Mot looked down and smiled at Lizzy. "Yeah, it sure was." It had been amazing, really. He was impressed. Just only slightly worried about the last words of Oogie, thanks to Petro's ravings and Mac's warnings. Mot didn't dwindle on those thoughts though. He'd keep an eye and ear out for danger, but for now, he was here to have fun with his friends.

"Up for a dance, Lizzy?" He asked, patting her hand. It was really up to her. The music was lively, and perfect for a fun dance to get the evening going.

((Thread like, exploded while I slept >>! *had to read back several pages*))

"What, why?" There was feigned shock and surprise in his voice, a hand reaching up to complete the performance by clutching his vest slightly, "I thought you were much more modern than all that, Ren. You're more than welcome to take me dancing, of course," a pause, "As far as you being the manlier one... I don't know about that. I'm quite sure I distinctly recall me being the aggressive one on Vday," at that point, he leaned in slightly so he could lower his voice, "I think you're the one that did all the stuttering and blushing," that said, the nix leaned away from Ren, smirking down at him, "Not to mention that other thing you did," he was doubtlessly referring to the purring, but was, of course, not voicing that small piece of information out loud for his friend's sake, given the fact the girls seemed to know nothing of it.

There was a small wince, though mostly for show than anything as the gryphon dug his elbow into his shoulder, "I'm not so sure about that either, birdbrain. We might want to get a second opinion on that," he moved slightly to the side once Ren released his hold on his shoulder and then shrugged, "Possibly, but then again... that would probably be half the fun of it, Ren. I don't see why it should be a problem," that said, the demon lifted his head up to glance at the decorations, "Ah...the valentines dance and auction," he swept ahead a few paces and looked over his shoulder at his three friends, offering them a sly smile, "Good times."

Looking back towards the room around him, he made out a few students he readily recognized; among them were Riley, whom seemed to be playing with dice, and Jericho. Gabrian distinctly recalled the fact Riley had played a game with dice back during the Valentine's dance, and idly wondered if she was cooking up something similar. He was momentarily distracted when he felt Ren brush past them and offer them a 'one second' sign, "If you don't hurry back, I'm going to take both lovely ladies out to dance and you'll lose your chance to dance with me," he clicked his tongue over his teeth teasingly before offering both LW and Alessa an arm and a hand for each to take, "Because Jack knows neither lovely ghoul should be seen alone. I would never do something like that, my dears," he did notice Sparrow, whom he did not know, looking at them; or more specifically, at LW, "Puppy, I think you have an admirer, love."

Of course, no sooner did he say this that the lights dimmed out and the 'show' started. When 'Oogie boogie' showed up, Gabrian had to admit he was quite impressed and only tore his gaze away from the performance when the shewolf jumped and clung to his arm tightly. Releasing Alessa's grip momentarily, he patted LW's head and then returned his hand to the nagual, "This is a nice show, don't you think?" he chuckled, "Entertaining, without a doubt."

Willow's tail flickered as she arrived at prom, well she was probably a little late. Her tail flickered as the ghost looked this way and that the door had been a little intimidating but maybe it was okay, she passed through with caution as she looked around the decorated room.

Wow there were a lot of people here, many she didn't recognize. This was her official event at the school, she'd been enrolled just in time to come. Supposing it was lucky but she couldn't say she was completely sure that coming to prom for her first day of school was a good idea.

She was wearing a red Chinese style short dress that was decorated in gold threads. Of course there was a little worry that she wouldn't really be able to meet any friends considering the fact that it was such a large party and well... apparently a lot of ghouls and boils were on dates. There was a small frown as she made her way towards the refreshment stand, worse case scenario she'd just have fun listening to the music the tiger ghost thought.
