Demi almost shouted with glee at the sound of the mouse wiggling about under the shell, he said to himself he wouldn't let Jove down and he didn't.
He puffed up his chest in pride as the other boil nudged his foot away to inspect the spoils of their trap. At least his foot was good for something!
The hellhound did join Jove to peer at the mouse that sat calmly in his little paws and playfully growled at the little thing, resting his head on Jove's shoulder. "Should we name the little guy?" he asked after the foxfire got the attention of the misleading instructor.

A trap? Hmm. He had sticks, and he had mushrooms. Perhaps he could set up something like a drop trap..
Frowning softly, he set about weaving the small sticks together until he made a little four sided box with a few twigs across the top to keep anything he did manage to catch within the trap. Vaguely satisfied, he took it, his remaining stick, and the mushrooms to a spare bit a floor to set the thing up. One side was propped up with the remaining stick, and the mushrooms her nudged underneath towards the back to hopefully lure something within.
It wasn't pretty, but with such limited supplies it wasn't bad either. He sort of doubted it'd catch anything though.

Christof sat, staring at his nearly rotten board covered in mushrooms for the longest time. How... how was he supposed to make something NONLETHAL out of.... what amounted to... well... garbage? Sure, he was good at hodgepodging things together but... Finally, he set to work, carefully taring the board into strips and wedging them between the swollen damp strains of plank. It was... ALMOST like a cage? It would delay the mouse at the very least until he manually knocked it over. Hell's Bells, that wouldn't do...
A bit more head scratching later, he scraped off the mushrooms, putting them underneath it before carefully arranging the make-shift "cage" (if one could call it that) on top of a rotten lever. It almost fell apart in his hands, but hopefully under the weight of a light little mouse it would do what he wanted it to, right?
How did this have anything to do with Math anyway?
It was time to get testing.

Really, trap failure wasn't going to be much of an issue if no mice came along to give his mushrooms a nibble. Perhaps he'd found inedible ones? Jove would know..
He glanced around for the pup before glancing back down at the twig trap.
It had been sprung.
Frowning thoughtfully be bent to take a look through the top, and to his surprise, there was a mouse inside. it didn't even seem to have noticed the trapping, still hunched over the mushrooms.
"Oh hey, I caught one too."

Christof waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Apparently the mouse was not a fan of mushrooms.

THERE. MOVEMENT! Christof leaned forward, holding his breath as the tiny rodent scurried it's way to investigate the bate.
It took a bite of mushroom before tottering along.
What. WHAT! The trap hadn't done ANYTHING! If he had only had the right supplies and tools, this would have been an entirely different matter.

Maybe it was because the Igor was fighting back tears in the manliest way he was able, overcome with frustration and ready to pound the make-shift trap into rotten splinters... it seemed the mouse had liked what it had tasted, venturing forth into what it thought was a bunk trap. Those little footsteps were enough, it would seem, for the rotten wood to finally snap, the make-shift cage slamming down to trap the little creature just long enough for it to be surprised and the Hunchback to lurch forward and scoop the thing up victoriously with a wild cry. "HRNnNN!!"
HE DID IT! Oh, thank Fear Alive, he did it!!

Charlie along the way had completely lost interest in what they were supposed to be interested in and in turn had started picking at some moss. It had been a most of the class entertainment for the young pink haired demon but by the time he realized the class was actually almost done the demon frowned.
"LIZZY!!" The demon flailed his arms as he ran to the other pink haired demon. "LIZZZZZYYYY HELP!!!" He pleaded.

"C-Charlie?" She sat up and looked around; spotting the flailing boil, she sighed before smiling, excusing herself from Levi before walking over with her materials: a slimy plank with lichen on one end, a giant beetle shell and some mushrooms.
"Come on..." She patting him on the head using her clean hand (the other hand was probably dirty from handling the 'materials'), "We can do it together..." She broke the plank into two and glued the two together to form a 'L' before using a small stick to prop up the giant beetle shell to create a 'trap' on the L-platform. The mushroom was used as bait.
... She's not quite sure how good it will be for trapping, but it'll do for now.
"You go first," She smiled at Charlie, "Just wait to see if anything shows up."

Charlie wiped his face with his sleeve and nodded.
"Okay. I'll go." He was going to do this! Lizzy was here to help! And she was smart! Even if she was a pink haired demon like him.

Nothing turned up! She frowned, adjusting the mushroom. Too bad it looked as unappealing as before.

[Rolling for Chobi/myself, take 2; she went to get pizza.]
Nothing turned up again! Her frown deepened, and she poked at the mushroom, prodding it like it would help with catching something.
"This isn't going so well," She muttered softly. However, it seemed like she spoke too soon; a mouse came up to the mushroom, sniffing at it. Its tail accidentally pushed the stick holding up the giant beetle shell, which fell on top of it. It probably shocked the poor thing, as it froze in place. Quickly, Lizzy moved forward and grabbed it in her hands, being careful not to hurt the squirming mouse.
"WE GOT IT, CHARLIE! COME, WE HAVE TO GIVE IT TO THE TEACHER." Yes, she was clearly excited as she firmly held the mouse in one hand, and grabbed Charlie's arm (his hand was hidden) in the other, before approaching the teacher with a grin, "Professor, we got it!" She held up the mouse happily.

"WE DID IT PROFESSOR!" He looked up with his brightest smile. Well really it had been mostly Lizzy but shhhhh.

Professor Walker nodded in turn to each of the students who had been successful, and kept an eye on the attempts of everyone else. He seemed... mildly amused. Finally he stood up and all the little ghost mice, caught or otherwise, flocked towards him and disappeared into the bag he set on the floor. "Many of you have learned something about traps today." He glanced around the room, and at the multitude of various traps that littered the classroom. It was almost starting to look like the Human Studies room, although with forest debris instead of broken glass and puddles. For some reason it appeared to please the draconic teacher. "Those who were successful in catching a mouse, please line up and take one of these." He laid a stack of parchment slips on the table. "For those who were not so successful, please consider the behaviour of your target and the limitations faced during this exercise. When you take these into account and provide me with a 200 word summary of how you might have been more successful, you may also take an enchantment." The bone dragon reattached the bag of mice to his waist, and made no attempt to explain what it was the students were receiving as a reward for their accomplishments. He simply sat down and pulled out a book. "I will remain in the classroom for the next hour or so to collect any assignments you may wish to write now. Otherwise, class is dismissed." ((OOC: Onto the prizes! If you have caught a mouse, please post your minipets profile name so I can send your enchantment slip over. If your student is going to write the assignment for the slip, please post your minipets name with that post. If your student cares little for mice or assignments and doesn't want the enchantment you are free to leave, although you might need the item to participate in this professor's next class! There will be future opportunities to hand in a similar assignment in order to acquire that enchantment, so you may have your student leave and submit it later, however. Anyone interested can approach the professor and chat for a bit as people wrap up their posts, he's willing to entertain some questions. ^_~))

The hunchback was utterly relieved that his trap had worked at all, even last minute. Next time he would have to sneak in a few.... extra parts, if he found the opportunity. But he supposed a rotten piece of wood covered in mushrooms had been somewhat useful... even in its... falling apart sort of way. He wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Bad Parts in the future, he supposed.
He gratefully gave a polite bow to the teacher as he triumphantly accepted the paper, but was quick to leave before anyone started yammering in that odd ghoul language again.
