The ceiling had caved, debris and a desolate fog settled upon the forgotten chamber within a centennial cortex. It was the floor that held the reflective ghosts of familiars; past and present. She was nestled, no, cradled within the mercury ocean. Stormy waters cold and dark, seaweed idly ebb and flow below a comatose victim seemingly out of frame. A soft silver glow in the cranium, a bulls eye made sedated. Dust mites crawled up hollowed capillaries, irritating flesh to the point that slumber was no longer possible. Emmaemmaemma, each heartbeat sounded the name, giving all the warmth the humanoid girl could give. Bloodthirsty orbs flashed, a fruitless gaze of her Mona Lisa smile. what side of the glass were they on? or was all the world made inside her head? The lines blurred and drifted into abstract. Someone approached, the dream fizzled into nothing and there she sat inseminating motives of lukewarm persistence, on a board of checkered chess. Though just as the area was given light, everything around the sitting form turned dark and only a small path was illuminated. She would have to venture forth. There was no way back now.
Populi of mushrooms birthed from the nothingness, aligning both sides of her path. Each one opened a beady eye, following the temptress.

The more Emma tried to ignore everything, the less effect it seemed to have. She thrashed about, eventually losing the battle to keep her eyes closed. She jumped up, her eyes snapping open as she prepared herself for battle. Everything checked out as normal according to what she could see, but her body was betraying her where her senses did not. Something was incredibly wrong with this setting...it made Emma sicker than she felt when she fell asleep. She placed her hand over her chest and took a deep breath, remembering that no matter the situation she had to approach it calmly or she was going to fail somewhere along the line. "What a waste of my time."
It took a minute for her eyes to adjust to the harshness of the light, as well as the rapid shift from light to dark to light. A single path, as Emma observed, with no way back was the only way to proceed. She ignored the surreal road, and instead focused on walking it instead of questioning it. Then again...that had always been the way she had done things. What was the point of questioning anything when she had no real reason to? Her stoic face did not change as she searched for her exit, and neither did she make any assumptions. For all she knew, somebody could've very well poisoned her and made her hallucinate.
She would instead try drowning out this madness as she continued. It wasn't real...she was just losing her mind. That was the only explanation, after all. Who would willingly come to a place like this? Why was it just her who was suffering? All of the questions and thoughts took sporadic paths that made absolutely no sense to even Emma, but it did take her mind away from the madness. If only for a moment, Emma felt the reprieve of having been able to disregard the nightmarish realm. She would simply take step after steady step until she could grasp at something. It was the only logical plan for now.

Thinking, how odd, really, that people had to do this every day. Shut down and go somewhere else, leaving their bodies behind.
Inside the world, a brilliant emerald field of grass rolling for acres over hills towards a horizon of gray cotton, granted Emma's feet, the wet drops of dew cold on her skin, the morning mist pushing against her warm body-- she was warm?
Out of the corner of her eye, a tree, brilliant with autumn's palette, sun's golden and harvest's amber blazing in the strong, brown arms of atlas student, a beautiful oak shaking its leaves in the wind like an audience hushing itself for the moment they anticipated. Turning to look at this sudden monolith revealed a something dangling from the oak, just around its trunk, a glint peaking out from behind entrenched bark to flirt with Emma's curiosity.

Emma shook her head...she had no time to try to think deeply in to this. Her steps were finally met with the resistance from grass of all things. Emma could see for quite some distance, and for a moment, she took a break in the grass. It was nice, and she enjoyed taking a bit of time to lay down her burdens, but there was no leaving things half finished. She jumped back to her feet and curled her hands in to fists. A sharp sound pierced the air as silver blades extended from Emma's forearms and expanded. She wasn't in the mood for games, and looking at the tree...it seemed to be mocking her right now.
Emma approached the tree, but steadied herself in case this somehow started a conflict. She refused to lose, even now...everything was untrustworthy. It could all be an ambush. She ran her hand over what appeared to be a wire before taking hold. Emma put all of her strength behind yanking the wire considering if she got her arm all the way back she would be able to strike down whatever came her way with a quick jab. She was primed to kill, as that was what she was, Emma had always been a machine built to destroy everything.
Chainsaw Shift Rank: C Description: The user curls their hands in to fists and prompts the nanomachines to form highly effective and durable chainsaws on both arms. While the chainsaws do nothing special on their own, the user can add them to any combo and continuously deal C-Rank damage on top of whatever other damage they were dealing. When hit with C-Rank ki, the chainsaws will vanish, and the user must summon them again. These chainsaws are known for cutting through B-Rank barriers, but this puts them on a four post cooldown. These chainsaws have more strength than regular chainsaws because of their constant high-speed vibration, allowing them to cut material much easier.

As she pulled and pulled, a mighty and swift justification as any curious onlooker would be tempted to do. This world though, it was the venom that kept the killer in a constant euphoric numbness. What happened next though...through the perverse and contorted, great inky folds came jutting out, gurgles of black fluid oozed down the trunk, running rivers between the rigid spaces. A rather large pulp sac was visible, its surface a pearly iridescent as if oil had bedded water and their love intertwined simultaneously at the same time. Two rolling eyes came to the surface, just below the translucent flesh sac. They were grey, tired and expressionless. A solitary hand pushed at the surface, her finger pads spanning the cover, reaching for the face of Emma. The tree itself shuddered, trembling as the womb breathed, even the leaves turned a sickening shade of red...too red in fact and their minuet veins melted the membrane in between.
What she pulled was the umbilical cord, giving the being a chance at freedom but it wasn't ready, it was too soon and this one would most likely die off like all weak humans do. Even then, the mother would protect it's young. The large tree groaned, branches came swooping down towards the android-like female, it wanted to slice her into twain, quadruples even, flay her where she stood.

Emma jumped backwards, taking a breath that showed her shock. Emma stepped forward again as she noticed what appeared to be a container. She watch it...a human? A monster? "Stop it." Emma was quick to say something despite not fully grasping the reason for saying it. She knew those eyes well...beneath the veneer of calm there was a certain sadness...a certain emptiness. It reached for Emma's face with a familiar hand, and she was quick to raise her arm to strike. Emma's stared back at the eyes with a similar expression, but hers was more desperate beneath the emotionless gaze. "Stop looking at me with those eyes...stop judging me..." Emma was suddenly taken by surprise by the fact that the tree itself became an opponent.
Emma's silver wings snapped open and turned towards the tree, jetting Emma backwards as she raised her arms defensively to make a fleeting swipe towards the branches. "A surprise attack...? No...I saw this coming from a mile away." Emma rose in to the air and rushed forward as she thought of her strategy. She'd attack from the outside and work her way inward until the enemy was silenced. It shouldn't be very hard, but Emma didn't have so much blind confidence that she'd think her plan was full-proof. She turned to the side as she flew, examining her target with her full attention locked on it.
"You had your chance. Do not think me a fool...your tricks won't work this time." Emma stated in her robotic tone as she took her chance to swoop in close and strike glancing blows from the outside until she whittled away at its defenses. She made sure to go around in a full circle and sometimes swoop higher, lower, or farther away to keep on the move. She worked mechanically as she searched her target for weak points that would allow a faster battle and lower workload on her part. "Stay away from me..."
Hover Mode Rank: E Description: The user's back opens up and reveals a pair of mechanical wings that are always active for as long as they are open. The wings allow the user to keep their feet off the ground for as long as they are willing to expend E-Rank energy. For D-Rank energy, the user can shoot themselves five feet backwards at the cost of Hover Mode being inoperable for three posts. Even then, they can still bring out the wings as a means of defense, even if its unorthodox to try something like that. Other uses for Hover Mode include using it to get off the ground without moving your limbs, and while it will cause Hover Mode to deactivate, using D-Rank energy without Hover Mode active will shoot the user in any direction they desire quickly.

This towering wreckage of branches swallowed a thousand years of sucrose fears into its roots, fueled by a rotting legend. Underneath its husky trunk broad enough to hide elephants exists evidence of a colony that grew too soon for the world to handle. It is bleak, it is sterile, and underneath the cleanliness is the throbbing labyrinth that vomits out what she gave back to the earth. It was charred with blood and muscle, a rotting land of manic revenge. She had no idea what she was even fighting for anymore...was it for herself? What self did she have left?
Each slash broke away brittle bark, sprays of rich vermillion poured from new wounds until it congealed and a large sac formed. This process repeated until the tree was covered in blood blisters. The 'Emma' in the womb still peered out, without eyelids there was no shelter from the horrific stare, she'd see it all. Scream out, but there was no voice, nothing but silence...loneliness...it was growing cold. A permafrost forming over the area.

Emma was satisfied, her blades and wings sunk back in to her and vanished. Emma thought about fighting onward, but did she really have a reason to do so? Why did she attack so violently? She glanced back at the face she had long since discarded, placing her hands over her ears and shaking her head. "I TOLD YOU TO STOP!" She didn't know what she was screaming at...there was, in the end, no sound. Instead the feeling of being alone became tangible...it hurt, and Emma wanted it gone. She didn't want to be alone, but that's the way it always would've been. If she sacrificed her humanity she wouldn't feel alone. She wouldn't remember the cold of being left in the dark.
"I am...not afraid of this world. Who are you to take my face like that? It won't do you any good." Emma uncovered her ears and instead approached the strange doppelganger, crossing her arms as Emma's underlying emotions shifted and changed accordingly. "Despite bearing my features, you are wholly incomplete. And so..." Emma made a second motion to strike, but stopped short this time around. "Say something...stop looking at me like that. Who are you supposed to be?!" An interesting question, when Emma didn't recall who she was supposed to be. A weapon? A human? A weak little girl? Emma dropped her arms to her side without striking and shook her head. "Everything is twisted...you...this world...all of it." A comment directed at none other than Emma herself.
So what could be salvaged? Emma had resolved to destroy all enemies in her path, but one shared her face. It couldn't have been her, but Emma had broken after seeing it. Such a foolish whim for a foolish world...and there stood Emma, the foolish vessel. She no longer fought the tree, and refrained from attacking the other Emma...she chose to calm down instead of showing what kind of a weapon she really was. The loneliness came back to her, and in the end, she remembered just how painful everything was to push her to this point. "Why can't I live peacefully...? Why was I left all alone...?" Questions Emma couldn't answer, but questions that existed all the same. For a moment she exhibited anger that she wasn't known for and tried to dispatch a neutral target. Why...?

Every word fell on deaf ears, this other Emma heard none of it. She thrashed against the stillborn womb, nails forming deep lacerations. There was only pain, loneliness, nothingness. It all came tumbling down. Leaves splat in sickly blobs, the diseased trunk split right down the middle and folded on the ends. What was left was the fragile cargo, there she was, left to face this world on her own.
Shaking and trembling, eyelidless orbs stared until they ran glassy, her skin waxen and grey. Limbs turned rigor mortis, death rattling to the bone. Then time sped up before Emma, the whole process of decay spanning in only seconds to what would take months and the ending result? Dust. Posies grew in a makeshift burial marker, green fields once again growing before winter drew in and snow covered it all.
Unlike before, all warmth was discarded and a chill fell. Snow piling upon the ground idly. Ahead of her, iron spears jutted from the blank canvas, there seemed to be no where else to go unless she wanted to stay there, the only path was forward.

Emma dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around herself, the world briefly turning static as her systems became overwhelmed by what could've very well been her own death. Emma waited...the waiting never stopped. She contemplated on what she had just done. She felt the other self's pain as it faded away, the overwhelming loneliness it must have felt in its final moments caused her to briefly be blinded. As snow fell, Emma stood up...she didn't want to stay here a second longer. Even then, Emma felt that gaze upon her...those eyes asking the same question Emma could never answer. Why was this world so cruel? Why was everything so ephemeral, so fragile, so...useless?
Emma put it out of her mind and proceeded forward. She placed her hand against the barrier and pushed it as to move it out of her way. She had to keep moving, otherwise she'd be forced to remember what she was trying to forget. She had to move away from the pain, away from what caused her so much distress. Try as she might, however, there was no real way to run away from pain. All she could do was block it out...it'd always be there, though, clawing at her when she was at her weakest. And that's why...Emma moved to embrace physical pain. Physical pain took her mind off mental exhaust...it made Emma feel alive. This world was far from her ideal as a result.

The large iron gate stood at attention but gave way to the lady, snow was pushed and compounded behind the jet columns. It looked to just be an ordinary field, covered and bleak. All around her was white, the horizon a slightly darker shade of. Rolling tufts of clouds passed overhead, just barely an overcast As she progressed through, her footfalls thundered. Something, beneath the layer of ice was metal and it was humming, though it was low in reverberation. It was still there, hanging on by a thread.
If she chose to remove the ashen shelter, Emma would spy different hues of alloy. Rich copper, silver, gold, all neatly layered on top of the other in a patchwork pattern. She could knock but only the hollowness returned. Perhaps she could bust through the metal? Or pry it away to see what lay underneath? There seemed to be nothing else here anyway.

The area happened to pique Emma's interest, just as the last one did. It was simple, and the area around was frozen down to its core. She saw nothing in the distance, so advancing forward at the moment would prove useless. She looked at her own feet and noted something beneath the ice. She crushed it underneath her foot and watched the ice fly only to discover metal beneath the surface. She laid her ear to it and listened...what was that sound. It disturbed her. Beneath the snow and ice there was not much beyond the mechanical hum. A quick strike to the metal surface only showed that there was nothing directly underneath where she stood.
She pulled away at the metal layers concealing what should very well be nothing considering the sound she heard. It was a sloppily done job when Emma thought about it...all of the metals and alloys may have been put together neatly when layered, but at the end of it all whoever designed it created a pure patchwork creation. Was that supposed to be a joke? Ice and metal? Emma wondered if she was being mocked...she wouldn't be surprised due to the hollow reverberation from striking the metal. She had always been called 'Empty,' but she was doubting that there was nothing there.

Each square peeled back to reveal another layer, just of a different color and density. She made quick work of discovering the contents beneath...it was nothing. Black. Dark. Empty. That was when everything came crashing down, brittle alloy crumbled under her weight and she would assail through the pitch. Falling faster and faster, Emma could try her wings...but they weren't there. Which was peculiar but not the only thing to notice as the young woman rolled head over heels, spine bending and arching to perfect infinities.
Tick. Tock.
In a blink, there she was.
Sitting at a cafeteria table...
completely....
naked.
No piece of garb shielding her pallor. Just a stark beauty, splices of pinkish hair cascading down each shoulder. Even a rosy mauve gracing cheeks.
All around her were students, teachers, each and everyone of them staring at her...she was the enigma, a freak. Why in the hell was she naked? Against one of the window panes was a redheaded man, his mischievous grin spelling out all that his ovals were washing over. Like an apple of his eye, he wanted to taste the rotten core inside. Yet, he didn't move. As Emma gawked, moving from him to a familiar face.... jutting jet hair, a carnivorous smile...Darion...why wasn't he helping her? She had no one though, just herself and a simple blue lunch tray.

Emma's heart dropped at the sight, but she couldn't say she was surprised. Not soon after ripping apart the metal surface Emma heard it creak and slowly began to crawl backwards, but her metal body was just too heavy. Emma began to scramble backwards, but she was absorbed in to the abyss. She tried to engage her wings, but nothing was working. Not having anything else to help her, she screamed as she fell, searching for something...anything that'd get her out of this mess. There wasn't anything...she felt like she was falling and screaming for an eternity before she finally noticed she was safe.
Emma shook her head, feeling a familiar light-weight across her entire body. The heavy metals that encased and made her body were gone, and not only that, but this was a public place. Emma saw everybody's eyes on her, and in her shock, she had no response. There was a whisper here and there remarking on her, and she was just...there. Emma saw Darion and was about to ask him to do something, but that smile...that mocking smile. He wasn't here to help her. Emma withdrew underneath the table and hugged her legs to her chest, closing her eyes and holding her head down.
Emma wanted to cry, but her body wouldn't allow it. It wasn't the fact that she was embarrassed, but rather, that nobody would come to her aid. Everybody saw her the same way...as a freak. "Big Brother...where are you? Help me..." Emma thought about all the faces that watched her...all of them were people she'd met, yes, but none of them knew her. They would all gladly abandon her when it came down to it, and that horrified her. She was being left behind in the dark again, but Hunter...Hunter would save her. He'd been there for her since she was born! Surely he'd come to her aid through this crowd!
Emma couldn't count on anybody to light her way through the darkness, but Hunter had endured the worst of times with his little sister. Now that Emma thought about it...it was pretty weak of her to call out for her brother when things got this bad. She swore that she'd be strong enough to help him when he needed her, but here she was begging for somebody...anybody to save her. She didn't want to be alone. The pain was too great, but her only real recourse was to withdraw in to the darkness and curl up in to a ball. Her only real defense was a flimsy shield. It was all so pathetic, but it was all she could do. It was all she was. For all her bravado, Emma was just as flimsy as the lunch tray and table.

Laughter. She cried out and they all chuckled, gasped, doubled over and crooned. It was maddening, not to mention deafening, but as their blundering flaps quaked...so did the ground. It trembled, shook, some of the students even fell over. The redheaded man still grinned but it wasn't for long. One after the other, reverberations ricocheted her vision. There was two seconds of silence that seemed to stretch into eternity, Emma's ears filtering their laughter as static, a white noise as if this was all too much. Or she was starting to lose it?
BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!
Through the windows, a giant sized fist shattered cacophony. Bodies went flying, blood spraying in rich mists, tables and chairs flew, defying gravity. It was Hunter, her saving grace, though on a much larger scale. His muscles bulged, sweat beading from a furrowed brow. He was smashing them all to pieces, beating each on to a pulpy mess, and all for her. Some though, like vampiric assassin were too quick, they moved, running up the walls and already attacking his arm. Their weapons sliced, their fists blasted and bruised Hunter's flesh. He roared, waving and thrashing his arm until the walls were completely ripped away and a serene blue sky reigned above.
The titan Hunter tried to smack the humans off of him, as if they were nothing but flies on the wall. Emma though, she'd find herself perfectly safe, her plastic shield standing between her and this massacre.
