Did Pride know this guy? He was acting awfully familiar with her. But then again, judging on how she reacted to him. It was hard to say. She didn't seem to know or even like the guy anymore than any of them did. Was it perhaps a plan to 'cause to destroy their trust for one another? Or was there something more to it? He couldn't say for sure, but it was making him think more than he liked to.
Stepping back a little, Tybalt noted Ren in the corner of his eye. He was talking to that were-rabbit ghoul. Or was... up until he was struck by an attack from behind; taking his last bit of strength and causing him to dissipate into the air.
"s**t..." He cursed. Hoping that the bird brain would be transported back like in the last field trip. Only... was it like the last field trip? Did they just get taken out for the time being until they recovered? ...Or was it actual death? OH JACK he hoped not! He did NOT want to see that s**t in the ghost dorms! Not ever! If he died and came back, he better go to the undead dorms!
Preparing to attack again, he hesitated and jumped back, the moment the cloaked man swung his sword; creating a large golden sphere to surround them all. Now, at first, he thought it was just some fancy light show. Just a way to show off... but then he felt the effects. He felt... physically weaker..? Was it draining their strength? His thoughts were only proven right, when he jumped forward to attack the enemy once more; striking him and practically doing nothing.
s**t...

The door was open and they were freed, leaving Calder more than happy to be out of the cage. Just when they thought they would be given better access to the reaper, the reaper pulled back and decided to eat time. Given the reason that he'd be getting backup of the unpleasant sort, taking up more time just to make it was the best tactic. Even Calder wasn't stupid enough to not notice that. If Grimgra, uh....Carry was an abomination and the rest were successes, he really didn't want to meet them. What he wanted was to get out, and if this cloaked figure prevented them, which he felt he would, they needed to take them out. Not only for themselves, but for Emily....and...
Calder noticed Alessa and Gabe, holding his book close as Ren dissipated.
...for Ren too. How many more of them would vanish?
Calder glanced back at Christof and Barth and felt a pang of worry. He didn't want to loose his friends.
Just kill him soon and they could run before the others came. That was it. The reaper looked close.
Raising his book, he pushed over and threw it, but the novel just caught on the flames and fell down flat, catching fire. Calder stepped back, moving closer to Christof and Barth. "There are going to be more of him..." He whispered. If they were as hard to kill as this reaper, they were beyond Jacked.

Alessa just wanted Ren to get back. So while she felt bad about being sharp with him, she felt more than justified. He couldn't take a hit. So she just gave him a pleading look, gesturing to the side, back to where the other non-fighters were, "Please."
She sighed when he touched her cheek. He was so stupid, so sweet, but so stupid. She had a hard time staying mad at him, when he looked like that. She began to lift her hand, reaching for his, everything went wrong. She felt something hit her and for a moment the air was knocked from her lungs, causing her to wince. When she pulled her eyes open from the impact they went wide, her heart dropping clear down to her stomach at the sight of Ren tipping forward and coughing blood upon the ground. She jerked forward, trying to grab at him, to keep him from falling, but just as her fingers tried to clasp at his arm and shoulder he dissipated right through her grasp.
Her fingers began to shake and she stared at them as if she couldn't believe what she'd seen. "R-R-Ren?" Her legs wavered and she slipped down to the floor on her knees. One of her hands landed in the pool of blood he left. She jerked her hand back with a short, shrill shriek, before staring at her bloodied palm. It wasn't possible. This was just another illusion right? She hadn't actually...she hadn't actually see...but the blood on her palm was very real and the smell filled her nose and she found herself choking as she tried to stand. She stumbled multiple times, before trying to turn towards the reaper.
It was all his fault. He did this. Him and these stupid other people on this island, and their stupid professors for taking them all here...she took one shaking step toward him, than another, and than collapsed onto the ground instead, on gasp of a sob shaking through her. She couldn't even manage to attack. Her wet hand slid a bit across the floor, smearing the blood. Maybe that illusion, the one of Gabe, had really just been speaking from her fears. They were all going to die here, weren't they?

Ren died.
Barth squeezed his first aid kit. Alright. No exit, and more dead students. Christof and Calder, failing to do any damage with the barrier in place, moved beside him.
"I thought err, thought you ought to know," he said, "in case things go badly, that you both...well, that I appreciated your sssservicess." He licked his lips, trying to clear the nervous hiss. "And, err, thanks."
The slime he sent flaming figureward, as he had thought, had no effect.

Siddie reeled back from a glancing blow, clutching at the sudden burning sting across her shoulder. More than anything, it was a surprise, but it hurt, and that - that - princess of a reaper had ruined her jacket. The seam at the shoulder was totally ruined, and now there would be blood all over it. Not awesome.
Another student down. They'd hurt the thing, yes, but it'd killed someone. They had to kill it - and before the reinforcements arrived - oh jack, reinforcements, could they even deal with that? But they couldn't run with this one still here - it would come after them and pick them off one by one if they tried. No, it had to be dealt with, and dealt with now.
Siddie lunged forward, swinging the crowbar again. The weapon keened as it moved through the air, a high, whining pitch on the edge of hearing. Startled, she jerked back, just a little, but just enough; her swing went wild, and she almost fell as she overbalanced. Jackitall - oh, deeps, we're not going to make it in time, are we?

Sammy turned towards Carry frowning ever so slightly, "Well it seems you've made our new friend rather grumpy, if you ever get an explanation it would be really nice." She turned back towards the Reaper as a blast of heat washed over her it wasn't as bad as those closer by the but the heat irritated her flesh and made her hiss in pain. "You know instead of asking him to not kill us maybe you should kill him?" She gestured with her mace towards the barrier, "If your half of what he say's you are then smash his face in and worry about answers when he's not trying to kill us!" With nothing more to say to Carry she turned towards the barrier twirling her FEAR filled mace.
Sadly it didn't do much as it crashed against the barrier, the cold filled metal pumped with Sammy's death grip FEAR only hissed and sent steam into the air as hot and cold clashed to no result.
"JACK-DAMMIT! Would you just die already you fraking murderer!"

Everyone had been doing so well, it just wasn't fair that things were turning out like this. Even after she tried to launch another attack, she was bounced back by the shield. They were fighting so valiantly, so fiercely. Why would this happen? The good was supposed to win, not the bad. Not the one who killed random students who had done nothing wrong. People like Emily weren't killed by flaming swords and left unavenged by her fellow students. She was supposed to-- "REN!!"
Shouts did nothing as Belladonna took a step back from where he had been, her eyes wide as things fell into place. Emily was gone, now he was too. It just wasn't fair. For a long moment she just stood there, staring at the spot he had been, watching Alessa and not knowing what to do. There wasn't anything she could. They just had to get out or fight and fighting didn't seem like an option anymore. "Alessa..." The witch had really whispered, taking a step toward her. "Its... Please... " She could think of anything to say. If she told her he wasn't dead, then he was just by saying. If she told her to be ok, she might cry. Belladonna was totally and completely useless, so she did the only thing that seemed right. She reached out a hand for the girl's elbow, pulling her back the same way she had done with the one who had gone before her.

Calder stood by his two friends, watching Barth attack and do no damage. Was this the end for them? He didn't believe it would be, but with Emily and Ren gone, the future, however short, looked grim.
"Yeah......You guys....are the best friends I've ever had. I'm happy...lucky even... I got to met you two." Calder added, stepping back beside them both and watching, preparing for the worst to come.

Christof wobbled, breathing heavily as he glanced shakily from one... friend... to another. At the sound of Barth's hiss, his visibly sagged as though the weight of their situation had broken through whatever sleep-deprived adrenalin had given him his previous fervor. His nostrils flared as a panic attack bubbled in his throat, his breaths becoming deep, hyperventilating gasps.
Why were... why were they talking like that? Alright. Alright a couple students had just died, and they probably wouldn't be the only ones, but did that really make their odds that slim?
They wanted that demon ghoul... the one with the nice-smelling hair. Or at least they seemed familiar to them... the conversation seemed important, but he couldn't focus.
Moral support was a concept he had only recently comprehended. And his... his friends needed him now. He wished he had that rotten tongue, even if every word had burned, but instead he tucked his pipe under his arm, moving jerkily as he gingerly put a hand on Calder's shoulder before reaching for Barth's as well, giving both a firm squeeze. His expression didn't show the fear he was desperately trying to keep bottled, twisted in a look of urgency and disgust towards their situation. If that horrible Reaper-thing wanted to call in reinforcements... well, there were still a lot of them left alive. He was not about to sit back and wait for a similar fate- his stitches were strong, and it would take more than a stab with a knife to keep him down, even with the waxing and waning Fear in the air.
He wished his Mistress was here. She'd know what to do. For now, he'd just have to wing it. She had instructed him to keep his friends alive- and he would. Old or New.

Stage 3 Fight! HP: 15
"Touchy, touchy," despite their attacks, the shield held firm. "Why're you guys trying to act like your real people or something?" He hefted the sword, " Too bad you aren't. So don't even think you can fool me into thinking yo-" The building shuddered and rumbled ominously, and the stairway was briefly illuminated by a soft blue glow. "Well s**t guys...hate to hit and run but...not gonna lie, I love to hit and run so, catch you guys later!" Swinging his sword in another arc, the shield around him expanded to the point of shoving the remaining students against the wall as he ran down the stairs. Several moments go by and finally the pressure of the shield is gone, but all around you, the building continues to shake. Pieces of the building above them begin to fall and the only way left to go is forward. Final Round Choices: Run fast! Roll 1 6-sided dice! If you roll a 2 or a 4, you get tragically struck down by a giant piece of ceiling, lab equipment, office furniture, toilet, or whatever else is large, heavy, and in the building above your head! You then DIE. Roll any other number and you've made it downstairs to the portal room! Run slowly and carefully! Roll 1 4-sided dice! If you roll a 3, then you've made it safely to the portal downstairs! Any other number and you get hit by smaller pieces of debris for 2 dmg! If you don't make it down the stairs, your student is not able to reach the next area!

Everything was so confusing. They weren't real? EVERYTHING THE REAPER SAID WAS CONFUSING. Vaith's head hurt even more from trying to think. Perhaps it was Ren's disappearance that numbed him.
Vaith wasn't sure.
He hadn't actually seen the gryphon disappear. Not like the crying ghoul. Ren had a girlfriend? That was news to Vaith. Did Vaith ever get to truly know his gryphon friend? Did he try? He couldn't remember. Vaith couldn't remember anything. Perhaps, later, Vaith would register that the gryphon hadn't simply disappeared. He died. For awhile? Or forever? He didn't ponder on it now. Only the reaper's words echoed in his mind.
Vaith couldn't remember anything. But that didn't mean he was going to lie here as this chamber went six ways to hell. To nobody in particular, he shouted.
"C'mon guys -- This isn't a party you want to stick around in!" Vaith ignored the falling debris, nimbly (or narrowly) avoiding the ones that fell on front of him. Unfortunately, a loosely hanging beam swung back and forth, wooden splinters piercing themselves deeply within Vaith's shoulder as he ran slowly past. One hand reached up to clutch the shoulder, knowing it was going to be a b***h to take out these splinters. His black boots taking him roughly forward to .. what was that ahead?

She had been shoved against a wall. She stood there for a moment, absorbing what had been said. What had the reaper meant when he said they weren't real? Everything she had endured thus far happened because she was in those situations. She had really been in the water, she had really been fighting a squid, she had crashed into a rock and she had gotten lost. Could this all a dream? No, it would be a nightmare if anything but there were students here that she hadn't formally met. This had to be real.
The shield was fading and there were chunks of the ceiling falling down around them, threatening to swallow them whole. One landed nearby, just inches away. She reached out a hand to touch it. It was real.
The danger was real.
She shoved all thoughts about the reaper in the back of her mind. Right now, it didn't matter what he had said. She needed to get out before she died here. She had taken so many injuries the last few days that she knew she couldn't run. Heck, even on a good day she had trouble running on two legs. She was a leaper but she didn't want to leave her bat behind. So she'd have to take it slow, steady and as carefully as possible.
"Be careful, guys!" she called as she began to move forward. She tried to keep her eyes on the other students and the falling debris at the same time. It wasn't easy. She wanted to make sure they all made it safely but something in her was screaming for her to be selfish. To save herself.
She felt horrible for leaving them behind but at least she had made it to the portal room.

The ground started to quake, ominous sounds of pipes groaning and stone shifting around them... Calder he knew could run, but now was their chance and Barth... well, Barth he frantically threw over his shoulder unceremoniously, glancing towards their one source of exit, and Christof ran. His boots scrambled as the ground heaved, a large portion of the roof suddenly collapsing down and he just barely dodged in time, unfortunately dumping the Sloth Demon in the process. There was no time to grab him again, rolling to the side as a sink from above came crashing down between them. Only a few feet away-
"HRNNNN!!" He managed to scream, eyes scanning frantically- run, run NOW! He scrambled to his feet just in time for a second chunk of stone to come crashing down where he had just been laying and he had no choice but to make a leap for the doorway, rolling down the stairs with barely enough time to glance behind, praying the others would be so nimble...

Gabrian did not hear the reaper when he spoke. Not one word registered; not even the horrible noise or the shaking of the building. Only when the shield pushed against him did he finally turn his gaze away from Alessa and Ren. Or rather, the place where Ren had been... seeing as how the gryphon had seemingly vanished.
He's dead.
His brain whispered the words he'd been avoiding, and the nix shook his head lamely from side to side, as if the motion, no matter how weak it was, could somehow clear it. But no, no. Ren couldn't be dead; Halloween creatures didn't usually die. That was not how things worked; they usually became ghosts, or undead or... something else, right? Death didn't really enter the equation, did it? No, no... the citizens of Halloween were practically immortal in their own strange way. They would always be there, because that's how things worked in Halloween.
Except... we're not in Halloween anymore.
The words echoed through his mind as the shield died, finally releasing it's hold on the students. He watched them move, but his gaze was once more on Alessa; she'd tried to get up, but he'd remain on the ground, crouched and unable to move. It was only when the patchwork made a mad dash for the stairs and a piece of ceiling fell dangerously near the demon that he realized he should really get up. Unfortunately for Gabrian... his mind simply wasn't into it. He attempted a mad dash towards the stairs but in his rush, he forgot to look up of all places, and one moment, he was there, the next... he was all but gone, a pile of debris and ceiling in his place.
It all happened fast enough there was not even a scream.
Gabrian: Is dead!

Barth found himself grabbed, dropped, and while closer to the stairs, still not quite there yet. Still, he'd been under dire circumstances before (re: freeway) and managed alright. He employed his old axiom, slow and steady wins the race.
Or at least does not get killed in an explosion of fire and falling refrigerators.
He edged slowly towards the conveniently lit exit, and found himself safely at the staircase. At first, he was relieved.
Then he realized he was going to have to use the stairs.
Why couldn't there be a nice elevator to the portal? Better down than up, he supposed. Still, stairs. Why would anyone build stairs. Who had legalized these things. At least they weren't as drippy as the ones further up. He maneuvered his way down each individual step until at long last he reached the bottom, and the source of the glow.
