This was horrible. Riley was getting attacked, so that brought the focus on her, so that was the perfect time to escape. Sadly, Christof was unable to move, missing a leg, and holding down Barth who was just as useless. Sighing, Calder reached down and heaved his friend up, but stopped when he was pushed by the force from the reaper's attack.
"This place is dangerous. We have to go!" He huffed, pulling on Christof to roll him off Barth's body. When that didn't work, he knelt down, and pushed on his shoulder until the boil rolled off. When at last, he breathed out, panting. He was so tired. Now he had to look for a leg AND dodge enemy attacks.
"Barth, help me find his leg. We can't leave without it." He wanted to just go!

((I'm gonna guess it hits Jericho too since he's still around. XD HP: 13))
Staring at Savior with a rather unhappy look, Jericho turned towards Damien and shrugged.
"Not a real good idea to get into a fight with this one," he warned, "She's a lot tougher than she looks."
Turning about, he saw that Malodore and Riley had returned. He smiled faintly at them, glad to see they were fine.. for the most part. The Mindflayer seemed rather frazzled for whatever reason. Something about needing to cleanse herself. From there he got distracted staring at his pendant, only looking up to see that his best friend was under attack.
She seemed to be doing just fine though. Unlike... Christof whom the dragon could see looking worse for wear further back. It was a little hard for the dragon to see the Igor, Kelpie, and sloth demon from where he stood, however. But then a new cloak figure entered the fray, taking out their own comrade in the process!
He growled lowly at them, not particularly liking the way he had spoken. What surprised him was that when the reaper guy struck out, he felt a twinge of pain from the attack.
"Dammit... Take it out, Riley!"

Christof groaned unintelligibly, weakly trying to push himself up as he was aware he was no longer standing, nor on the soft pillow he had temporarily found. The sudden burst from the cloaked creature made the hunchback's already weakened form shudder, and he lurched down again as more stitches popped free, this time his head rolling across the sand to bump against Riley's ankle. A weak, wobbling and barely graspable projected thought clawed at the edges of her mind- Protected... Got... amulet... Mistress...
Without the head to keep it in place, the prize from his fight slipped from the unstitched neck stump onto the sand.

"Urgh," Barth responded unhelpfully. He was still on the ground, even though Christof had been hoisted off him. "Just err, just give me a minute."

Riley took a step back as she felt the slap of a hit rushing through the air. She didn't realize just yet that she hadn't been the only one hit. One brow lifted as she glared the enemy down.
You talk a good game, but.. that was the best you could do? Here, let me show you how it's done.
Claws and tentacles extended, Riley came at the reaper, growling animalistically. HP: 22 Damage: 5 Please: Attack Calder some more The mindflayer's attack hit them straight on, forcing them back several steps. With a slight hitch in their breath the other actually sounded... glad, as they answered, "Excellent... wonderful!" Straightening, they gestured for her to attack again. "When you kneel, I think I'll keep you as a pet." The crushing sensation remained steady rather than strengthening, but the radius increased to include more students. "Speaking of...the ungainly one won't last much longer." The ooc This is still only Riley's fight! The attack is using a cumulative AOE that hits others in the area as well! This time, she happened to notice that she wasn't the only one getting hit. In particular, she noticed that Malodore was getting hurt, and goosebumps rose on her skin in horror. She swiftly turned to glare at the reaper again, her eyes pleading.
Listen, if you want to fight me, you fight ME. Leave them alone already!
Her high pitched angered voice turned vicious when she felt the bump of Christof's head - HIS HEAD?! - against her foot. She swiveled her head back up to the reaper, her eyes going wild with desperation.
STOP THIS. RIGHT. NOW. She screeched, as she came at him once more.HP: 21 Damage: 3 Christof: I AM SO SORRY

( Looks Like Demi's didn't stay far enough away from the strike range, the silly pup. HP: 24 )
Damien should hit her, should knock a bit of sense in her, but he was warned that she was more than meets the eye. Far be it from him not to listen to words of wisdom. For now. " If you say so bub." he said casually to Jericho, dismissing the citrus scented girls actions as a freak occurrence.
Looks like there were more footsteps approaching, maybe it was the rest of this group that was mentioned earlier. Looks like they have seen better days, but at least they were still undead. The one who was purple seemed kind of twitchy. Wonder what happened to her? There seemed to have been more people bringing up the rear, with one that was in very bad shape. Or was that his shape to begin with, he did have a rather large hump afterall.
He turned back around to check on the lady in the bathing suits condition, to find that she was already under attack, but how, she was perfectly fine just a second ago? were the reapers that good on sneaking up on their prey?Damien tried to weave past the battle without getting into the crossfire between weapons to get to those at the bottom. Guess the sneaky reaper didn't want to pass up on such a large crowd as it decided to strike all those within its range. a searing pain was exploding from his lower back, but he could endure it, he couldn't afford not to. " Gah oh Jack you!" was all he could say as he maneuvered away, in case it got any more bright ideas.
There was a demon who didn't seem like he was in much pain, maybe a bit sleepy but not in pain. And the male.....female?.... thing with a white mane, seemed to be in fair shape as well. But the one lying haphazard on the floor, that was a different case entirely. "Are you all alright?" he asked, not so much to the few who were able to stand, but mainly to the one who could not. Those reapers were simply lucky that the able bodied could not get close enough to help, 6 against 2 weren't very good odds for them.

Never, in all of her years of fighting, had Riley considered it to be anything but a game. To hear this reaper, this stranger, this NOBODY tell her otherwise made her blood boil hot in her veins. This was partially because she refused to believe it, and partially because she had no choice - whatever this thing was doing was hurting her friends. Her Malodore. All because she wasn't strong enough to bring him down in one blow.
There was no game. There was only survival.
Riley blinked once, and her blood red eyes fizzled back to their normal white color. Don't worry Christof, She murmured to the lifeless head as if it could hear her - which it no longer could. I won't give up.
Even as she came at it, swiping with a weaker attack, she knew the game had changed.

The hunchback groaned, or at least he tried, but it was difficult when you were a disembodied head. His eyes rolled back in his head before closing, and any flickers of desperate thought went quiet, asleep, perhaps?
The parts back by the demon dog, Kelpie and Sloth went limp as well... not to mention falling apart at the seams in a few more places. This close to death it seemed he didn't have nearly enough Fear in his system to keep himself together. Perhaps it wouldn't be a problem much longer...

"Don't give up. Don't take strength and safety for granted. Don't assume you know the answer before question is revealed. There is indeed a fate worse than death, and you'll find it here." A quiet laugh trickled through the fog, "So don't think I'm doing you any favours. It would be kinder to just kill all of you." As the air began to clear, the attacker was of course, gone. "Maybe next time I will."

Riley had just promised Christof that she wouldn't give up. She knew, in the back of her mind, that he was about to die. She knew that she was partially the cause of this, and above all, she knew that she had to fight to make up for it. She couldn't let this reaper, whose words of wisdom were cutting her deeper than any wound, get away. She watched the fog envelop him, and dropped her hands down to the floor simply to give herself the push she needed to hurl her body at him as quickly as she could.
She couldn't let him just get away. Not now. Not after all of this. She ran into the fog, her legs burning as she pushed herself hard to run faster than normal.
But it was too late.
She could hear the voice in the air, even as the fog began to clear and left her with nothing. NOTHING. Her hands curled up into fists, and she dropped down to her knees on the spot where the reaper had once stood. She could still see the faint impression of his footsteps in the dirt. The wind picked up slightly, brushing leaves across the footsteps, and wiping them away. Not even that could remain.
She couldn't even have that.
I wasn't supposed to care. She growled, more to herself than anything. Her hands dug down into the dirt where the footsteps had begun to fade, and she buried her claws deep into the soil. They came up black. Her breathing quickened, and she started panting as a growing anger filled the pit of her stomach. She had hurt her friends in the battle - and she had been affected by this. She had cared about them. She had gone against everything her race stood for, in one easy moment.
I WASN'T SUPPOSED to CARE. She screamed, her head lifting up as if she could scream it into the air. Her fist slammed into the soil, leaving an imprint that no wind would carry away.

The mental scream seemed to be enough to jolt the dismembered head back where she had previously stood awake again, eyes lolling although he couldn't see her, but somewhere in the battered, remaining functional part of his brain he knew that sound his ears hadn't heard... his Mistress was screaming... she needed him. He stirred, but he couldn't feel his body, couldn't feel anything but soft sand against his cheek and temple. Mistress... must... protect... coming... will... save... The mental projections were faint, like a flickering candle in a dark warehouse.
Somehow, against all odds, he was still alive.

Riley lurched upward when she felt Christof's faint and weakened thought graze against her own. She spun around, staring wide eyed at the head in shock. He was talking to her - it wasn't too late. She quickly ran to scoop his head and his pendant up, carrying it gingerly in her arms as she started barking orders.
YOU. GET HIS BODY. AND YOU. She pointed fingers at those nearby. PICK UP THE REST OF HIM. We're all headed back to camp RIGHT NOW. Everyone was hurt, but it was priority that they worked as a team to get Christof back to camp before he lost hold of the tenuous thread he was barely grasping onto.
Malodore, I hope you brought some supplies. He's going to need your help most of all. It was the only person in the group she hadn't barked her orders at, but her eyes refused to look directly at it. Guilt weighed them down too heavily to look up. In fact, as she turned away to walk off to camp with Christof's head, she couldn't look down into his eyes, either. She curled it up in a startling show of affection, trying to soothe him with comforting thoughts.
You'll be fine. Mistress has you now.

The expression on the numbed face twitched and the fog was still thick in his brain but somehow her words cut through it soothingly, and his mouth shifted into a weak smile, Safe? Good... Tired, Mistress... Amulet... sorry... pieces... was all he seemed to manage before the eyes closed, happy to let unconsciousness take him once more. She was safe. Good. Hopefully the others were too.
Personally, though, he wasn't feeling very well.

Gritting his teeth as he felt another wave of pain, Jericho glared at the reaper before glancing towards Christof again. The Igor really didn't look too well. He couldn't even hold himself together at this point! Making his way towards him, he paused and looked back at the fight. This guy knew how to push Riley's buttons..
And then he was gone.
Staring at the spot the reaper had been standing moments ago, Jericho soon just let out a frustrated roar along with Riley's scream.
"JACK DAMN THESE REAPERS!" he boomed. The dragon was getting tired of the way they were toying with them all. It seemed that every time one of those cloaked figures showed up, they were just being mocked and played with. It made him feel weak and that idea just pissed him off even more.
Huffing out in anger, he looked up as Riley started to bark out some orders. Nodding, he went and grabbed the Igor's torso to carry back to the camp. He was tired from the fights, but not enough that he couldn't help out here.
