Tate wasn't close enough to hear Europa and Wolframite, and she needed to know what they were saying like burning. For that reason, she ventured closer, straining her ears to hear what he was saying.
It was familiar rhetoric. And now she knew the senshi were space aliens... but she also knew that Wolframite had savaged someone on the television. She couldn't watch--playing both sides was cheap, the action of a coward, but she needed the safety provided by Wolframite and the trust of Europa. If she knew Taranis, she might be able to be persuaded to give more information than Tate's friend--she might even know more.
Okay. Rock in hand, just for defense. She couldn't be seen as biased--she could not--but still, Alumo was attacking another civilian. She couldn't be blamed for defending someone else powerless, could she? Probably not. So, another rock was thrown the Negaverser's way. It was just lucky that Azzo and Ganymede were distracting the man, really.

SQUARE 4: A New Hope
Super Sailor Ares was caught in the fray like many of the others, dodging lava and bodies alike. She could feel the vibrating thrum of battle in the air, let it flow through her veins. Here, she didn't have to worry about her fretting mother, her failing grades, or her empty social calendar. Here, she could simply be who she was meant to be: Sailor Ares, Warrior of the Blood Moon.
Sliding up beside Leto and Maia, Ares twirled her torch over her head. "Sorry I'm late," she said, scanning the horizon. "I was detained." By battle. By Negas. By lava. It happened.
Her eyes fell on a small chibi senshi standing nearby. A smile broke out on her face. Good! It was about time the White Moon started training their fighters young. It reminded her blissfully of her own childhood spent in battles and training rooms. The moment of joy was broken by the guardian cat Hypnos held.
"Zirconia," she said flatly. The senshi was about to rebuke her for being a babysitter, but she only managed a quizzical look before dodging a flying piece of volcanic rock. What the?
Time to fight.

Maia thanked the heavens Ares showed up. She nodded to her captain with a grin standing still and allowing Hypnos and Zirconia to catch up. "Its good to find another member of the court, detained is better than missing. We we're looking for Leto though ..."
Maia frowned as Ares dogded a flying rock and stepped back an arm going out to sheild Hypnos and Zirconia, before looking to the pair.
"You had better get down Zirconia, it looks like things are about to get nasty," she said hastily.
She looked to Hypnos her face completely serious, "Stick close okay, unfortunately we may have to fight and its better to work in pairs okay?"

Azzo was suddenly distracted. He heard a call he knew, it well. "Polaris!" He looked around to see where she was and watched rocks fly towards her and then out to everyone else. Her attack!
He dodged a few rocks. "Holy Crap!" They flew almost everywhere! The thrill of the fight however was enough to make Azzo not back down. He grinned at Alumo. "So are all of you idiots?"
He was grinning, a dangerous grin. Polaris was here and knew he could help and he was suddenly thinking him and Ganymede would make a good team in tandem. "Would you like to dance?" He had leaned over slightly and asked out of the corner of his mouth wondering if the senshi would follow his lead.

It was Tate that caught his attention again, and he watched her throw a rock at ...another Nega? What the HELL was that other officer doing? Civilians? He jumped back, avoiding any charge from Europa as he dodged geysers and started to whip his chain around and around and around himself to keep her away and from coming near. As he did, he looked over at Alumo and shouted. "What are you doing, officer?! Civilians are NOT are problem! Kill the damn senshi!" He shouted, utterly annoyed by the complete incompetence of the other member on his side. Then again, it could be the heat. He was sweating and feeling faint, and the heat always made him cranky.
As he continued to whip his weapon around and around, he looked out and called to any civilian who could hear his voice, but hoped Tate heard him most of all. "Civilians. Go find protection! This isn't your fight!" They would get killed throwing rocks at them, and he didn't' want Tate poking any Negas and getting torn to shreds. No. He had to protect her.
Stopping his weapon, he darted and headed for Tate, making his way over to protect her.

The strangely gendered Senshi was moving towards him, but he didn’t have enough time to put the staff back together, so Alumo quickly passed the halves into his left hand, in time to reach up and grab onto the fist that was being aimed at his face, pulling Ganymede towards him.
His initial reaction was to punch him/her in the gut with his left fist, staff halves still in his hand and all, but there was something that was bothering him…
Like, really bothering him, for no apparent reason.
“Wha’ the hell are you?? A girl or a boy??” he hissed at the blond haired Senshi, frowning deeply and seriously. S/he was confusing him, gosh darnit! He just wanted to know! Sure, s/he was really flat-chested, but the hair and the makeup and the pretty face was throwing him off.
What the hell??
The senshi was so confusing that Alumo didn’t even realize that the same sassy girl from before was throwing another rock at him!! What the hell?? This time, though, he didn’t have the opportunity to dodge or hit it or whatever, and it hit him square in the shoulder.
He shot her a glare over the head of the blond he was still holding onto, at both the civilians in the vicinity. He was serious about getting an answer, but he would deal with her in a few moments... before shooting a frown over at Wolframite when he started yelling at him not to attack them. Fine, this wasn't his territory, anyway. He would just have to dispose of this particular... thing.

The splintering mask came down over and over and over again on Atlas's arms, his face -- everything that was exposed for even the briefest of instants, it seemed, was a target on his body that Moonstone aimed for with no remorse. She was incredibly, psychotically determined to beat every last inch of life out of him, and her tunnel vision was quietly answered with one of his own... one that focused on his own fate as it unfolded before him. With each new cut and bruise he earned, the vision became clearer and more terrible, he was alone, there was no one to save him, everyone else in the field was too busy worrying about their own lives to pay attention to his. The pain he was enduring was his, and his alone to bear.
She was trying to kill him. And even with just the effort, she was enjoying herself. Atlas knew right then and there, as her weapon cracked down on his skull over and over again, that if she succeeded in this she would go back to her comrades and brag about it, as if he were prize game she'd shot down on a hunting trip. He didn't even know her name. She didn't even know his. And she didn't care. All that mattered to her was seeing the life extinguished from his eyes, and taking the story home as a trophy.
Was everyone in the Negaverse like this? Was it true what was said about them... that they were pure evil? Cut and bloodied, bruised and aching, each mark this officer left on him sounded in his mind as evidence.
Do something.
She was evil. She was out for his blood, and saw him not for the heart it circulated through.
The mask in her hands had little grooves in it from where her fingernails had dug into it. What was once a caricature of some animal's face now looked like it had been freshly and carelessly ripped from a tree. The paint had been chipped and abraded off. In its place, the artifact was stained with smears of a more dark and visceral red, courtesy of Atlas himself.
Don't die.
This girl wasn't human. While she may have had a human face, the senshi realized, it was no different from the mask she was wailing on him with: a fake, a crude caricature, an artful imitation of the real thing. And when the layers of paint and careful carvings were allowed to be peeled away, its true nature was revealed: something formless, something unfeeling, something that wasn't really even alive anymore. Was there really that much of a difference between the girl before him, and the ghoulish youma he'd grown able to reduce to dust without much hesitation? Was this what the Negaverse did to people?
Fight.
He had no time to think about this. All he needed to know that his life was worth living, and not something he could allow this monster to take away. There was an unusual clarity in this, that rose shyly above the pain, and he took this opportunity to shove his hands into Moonstone's shoulders in an attempt at pushing her off.

What, Tony wanted to huddle and cower? Ever blinked at him, raised his eyebrows, and decided that he didn't like his imaginary dream Tony half so much as he did the real one, and wondered what it meant about his psychosis that he'd changed the man so much. Because, obviously, this was his dream. The rest were just along for the ride.
"You don't want to go get a better look? Let's go get a better look huh?" He only took one step forward, though. For all the brave words, he didn't want to go alone.
((Blarg! Totally bedtime. I give Lith/Tony full permission to yank me around, but otherwise, Ever just stays in square 3 and waffles as to whether or not he wades in.))

Azzo's attention was caught by two things. One was Wolframite running towards Tate. The other was Alumo grabbing Ganymede. Azzo's face twitched Wolframite was talking about not fighting the civilians that idiot.
And here was Ganymede in trouble. Azzo was not good with this type of situation. To save Tate or Ganymede, Azzo opted quickly for the non-senshi. He'd help Ganymede in just a second. Azzo sprinted to Tate, "Damnit.... Damnit....Sorry." He whispered quickly to Ganymede "Tate watch out." He called remembering that Europa had called her that and he had seen the girl in meadowview, grabbing the girl and tried to whisk her behind him before Wolframite could get her.
He wasn't about to let her have her starseed stolen. He wouldn't let the captain have that pleasure.

Sailor Maia was only a cadet, but she was already proving herself as a reliable and dedicated member of the Blood Moon Court. Ares fully intended to tell her as much, but now was not the time. Now it was time to fight. "Stay safe -- but stay in the fight," she said, eying Hypnos too. All senshi needed to fight. Ares did not care how young she was.
A voice carried above the crowd. Ares turned toward it, recognizing Wolframite. She had met him before, long ago, when she was still a civilian. He didn't have an eyepatch then. He wasn't this strong. Still, it gave her pause to see someone who had once terrified her -- but things were different. He was a Captain, and she was a Super Senshi.
Perhaps it was time to thank him for that beating he gave her last year.
Unfortunately, he was a touch far. She settled for screaming back above the noise to all that might listen, "CIVILIANS! Do not believe the lies of the Negaverse. Fight for your lives -- before they take them from you." Her eyes burned across the field.

His hand was captured and he was drawn forward, and Ganymede started to panic. Just a little bit. He didn't like being this close. Bad things would inevitably happen. Okay, this had been a stupid idea. A very stupid idea. The next time he found himself drawn into a battle like this, he was seriously going to run far, far away.
The question, however, amused him. If his ambiguous gender confused this guy enough for him to actually be distracted by it, then that was good for him. "Wouldn't you like to know?" he teased, winking at him. Yes, winking. Probably not the best thing to do at the current time, but... he couldn't help himself. His outfit was good for something if it posed that much of a problem for people, though he thought the flat, partially exposed chest should be a bit of a giveaway.
Whatever. He wasn't complaining. While Alumo was busy trying to figure the question of his gender out, Ganymede swiftly lifted his knee and attempted to nail the guy between the legs. A low, cheap shot, yes, but he'd take whatever opportunities he could get. While he did that, he tried to tug his hand away, wanting to move back and out of range of Alumo's weapon.

Unused to Atlas showing any fight at all, when he pushed at her shoulders, she went back; not retreating, but from the strength in the senshi's arms. Strength she had been shown just wasn't there at all. For several long moments the dark-haired Negaverser stared at Sailor Atlas, her chest heaving from her exertions. Her fingernails dug into the wood of what was once her mask; it was hard for her to comprehend that this useless, worthless Senshi was going to fight back. And while the volcanic rocks flying around them were annoying, she dodged them easily and stayed right where she was...there were reasons to stay right there.
Pandora's lips curved into a mocking approximation of that age-old smile women could have. It was an invitation...a threat - promising Atlas everything: pain, blood, sweat, tears and ultimately death. Just because he was fighting back didn't mean she was going to let him go - oh no. Moonstone was even happier when he started pushing back.
"Finally. Now I will have some fun!" She chuckled a bit, wet her lips with her pink tongue. Perhaps she was a monster - she was Negaverse. Any bit of humanity inside Pandora was devoured by the Negaverse, by her Queen...until she was a machine. A machine bent on destroying the Senshi. This Senshi, Sailor Atlas.

Zirconia huffed and made a mental note of how to make Ares appear instantly for next time: Just do something that would be embarrassing in her presence.
She hopped out of Hypnos's arms and was suddenly in her vulnerable, self dubbed 'two-legs mode'. Ares was here; She was done with the defensive and darting around cadets, and she needed the form with longer legs and a wider punching radius.
"Leto is that way," She said to Maia and pointed again. Part of her consciously knew that sending a silly human off into chaos like that left little chance of being able to pinpoint a position like she could but... eh, it was better than nothing. She'd have to redeem herself and she figured she would by giving up the 'find Leto' objective to punch some hostile in the face before this was over.
"Stay alive, Cadet," She huffed, still wary after the Rota incident. And she she just barely whirled her head to the side to dodge a rock. Lavender ears swiveled in her hair as she heard Ares roar while her eyes quickly scanned to see if anyone was actually heeding the senshi of smoke.

Captain Alumo gaped at the Senshi before him when Ganymede winked and pretty much refused to reveal his gender to him. What the hell?! He was just going to leave him confused and unable to determine whether or not s/he was a girl or a boy?? Again, he thought it could be a boy, but the face! And the hair! And the clothing in general!
Maybe he was just more sheltered than he thought he was?? He could honestly say he’d never been so confused by the gender of someone before.
He looked up only for a moment, watching as the Captain in the heels and the bows ran over to the sassy chick, only for the black haired male to follow. Hey, in his defense? They’d been the ones to attack him, first. And obviously he hadn’t managed to injure them as he would have liked to.
Of course, he was a little curious as to why Wolframite was being so defensive of these civilians, but he supposed it was just some strange, American thing.
Alumo knew he shouldn’t have let his guard down, because one moment he was holding onto Ganymede’s fist, and then next he was on the ground, writhing in pain.
What the hell?!
You don’t do that! That was just… that was just wrong!

Oh, s**t, rocks everywhere. Tate did not like that--her newfound agility made it easy to ensure the rocks only scored glancing blows, but still! That was her skin getting gashed all to hell. At least her head was okay.
Just dizzy, because suddenly Wolframite was running towards her after telling off the Nega with a staff--and then Azzo, shoving her behind him. Which would have been alright, had Tate been expecting it--she'd just been watching the Captain with the eyepatch, dark eyes a little bit wide. She tangled herself up in her own feet, and crashed to the ground. "********," she said under her breath, hand pressed to her head as she pushed herself up on an elbow. It stung to the touch, which wasn't good--felt slick, too, and she grimaced.
"Azzo," she said, sitting up. "It's fine." Even if Wolframite tried to take her starseed at the moment she didn't care. It'd be more proof that he was, you know, fine.
