[[ > Try to run past Ratwel ]]
"Candlejack!" I can't help my language as I scramble not to get sucked into the floor. I suddenly wish I had kept the knifedemon with me, as I was suddenly feeling a bit more murderous than I had been before.
Unfortunately for my friend there is just no way for me to get to him with the floor splitting open. I make a break for the closest door. Of course it is the one I just came through, the one with Ratwel blocking it with his creepily pleasant smile. He's got my blood boiling anyway!
"b*****d!" I might be smaller than him but I hope that with my body weight I can push my way past and maybe make it to one of the hallway doors.

> Ask the Creature for more information Sayuri_Nitta + ^ The monster perks a little as you deem to actually question it, slowly sliding out of its crouch to its full height. It’s a squat thing, no more that four feet tall, but broad enough that getting around seems to be an impossible feat. If you want to get to that door, it looks like you’re going to have to make it move in some manner.
“We’s worked fer hornded Masters since we’s born. Trash, Munchesss take, eat good. Good Munches. Munches just do what he’s told. Lock us up, though. No more foodsss. Sooo hungry! Pleasse lets us go. Please! Please!”
“You are not innocent!” Cried the knife, “What did you do, Munches? What did HE tell you to do?”
At the force of the yelling, the creature (Munches, it seems) begins to blubber, big, rubbery tears seeping out of its eyes in slow rivulets, thick as molasses.
“Suitysweetsss tells usss get the missuss! Nothing elsssee. We swears!”
There is a moment of horrified silence from the knife. It is still in your pocket, almost lifeless, like it was any other utensil and not, as it claimed, some demon lord thriving with energy.
“I remember now,” Says Sir Rotgud, slowly, “I knew it was something to do with you and now… I remember. It was you. All the night, I heard a scraping, as if within the walls themselves. I thought it merely the weather, but it was you, wasn’t it? You came in through the walls. You took me. But how? How did I not see you?”
There is a guilty silence from the creature, who shuffles its back further into the corner.
“We never wass to hurt you, Masster. He said it was good. He saids you was leavingss. Munches… We liked it here. Not no more. We wants to leave, no more troubles! Just let us go. We promissse!”
“Fiend,” Spat Sir Rotgud, “Stupid wretch.”
“That’s ******** up.” Your partner agrees.
“Put him out of his misery, my friend. No penitence will satisfy me but his death. Show no mercy – he is not worthy of forgiveness, stupid as he may be!”
Munches shivers again, the fins on its massive head flattening. Rotgud may be full of rage, but you are the outsider looking in. What do you see? Is he truly a perpetrator, or another victim?
> Ask Lord Rotgud for more information > Attack Munches > Set Munches Free> Try to run past Ratwel iloveyouDIE + $ ~ Your partner somehow manages to limp along the wall after you.
Ratwel sees you coming and fills the door with his body. However, despite how tall and strong he seemed to be, his body is willowy and you shove him back. He grabs you, hard, by the shoulder, nails sinking in, and he attempts to shove you right into the pit.
However, your partner is there, and together you shove him out of the way. He goes tumbling across the floor in a long-limbed heap, issuing a short cry of indignation. As if, how dare you fight for your life? You make it to the upstairs landing, but you can see him gathering himself, following you.
"Come back," He entreats you, as if you are a willful child avoiding a family photo. "Please come back. You'll love it here, I promise! No one will ever take better care of you." He picks up a fire poker as he passes the small fireplace in the master bedroom. "Well, if you insist on being childish... You'll thank me for this later."
Since he's moving slowly, your partner has the time to stage-whisper at you, "Let me hold him back. I'm finished anyway. You go on!"
> Face Ratwel together > Flee together into: (see below) > Let your partner handle Ratwel and flee into: (see below) > The ornamental door > The transporter (randomize 1-20 with post) > The door with stickers > The Foyer (down the stairs)! Notes !
When you are being pursued by Ratwel (marked by a ~ ), you must roll 1 d-6 every other turn. If you roll a 1 or 6, he will knock you out and you die. Certain areas or actions will allow you to lose Ratwel temporarily, but once you get him, you are stuck with him until death do you part.
(( For you, ilu, that's gonna be the turn you take after your next one, depending on what you do )) ((x - you had a death ; + - you took your partner with you ; ^ - Sir Rotgud's Aid; $ - The Silver Key; ~ - Ratwel is following you ))

I agreed with my partner; it was ******** up, in many different ways but I couldn't help but feel sorry for Munches and definately couldn't bring myself to kill something that was chained up. 'I'm sorry, maybe he is stupid. Maybe I am for doing this. I'm sorry for what happened to you Sir Rotgud, but I can't bring myself to kill him.'

[[> Let your partner handle Ratwel and flee into: ]] [[> The ornamental door ]]
I grab him by the shoulder and squeeze in support. I feel bad about it but after every encounter we've had he's only gotten seriously hurt. I make a break for the hallway, too focused to look back and see what the horrific butler does to my friend.
I throw myself towards the ornamental door. If it's locked I hope that the key in my pocket belongs there... otherwise I may just be majorly screwed!

> Set Munches Free Sayuri_Nitta + ^ The beasts eyes light up as you say you will free him. He uncurls slowly and presents his shackled foot and allows you to approach.
"Fool!" Rotgud curses you, but you ignore him and slowly pull him out.
It takes some tinkering, but using the knife, you are able to unlock the manacle. Not without some damage, however - Rotgud cries out in pain as a bit of the knife breaks off in the lock. But Munches is free.
He gurgles with delight and slimes you, head to toe, with a big, sloppy tongue-kiss. "Thanksss you sstranger! Good ssstrangerss! Munches lovess you!" He butts into you, not unlike a dog, scaled tail slapping the floor.
After the bit of affection, though, he makes to move toward the door, thinks twice, then turns.
"Munchess help you, sstranger. Suitysweet sssaid Munches guard door, but he lock Munchess up." And with the proclamation, he rams into the locked door he was guarding. Under his bulk, it splinters and gives, falling off of its hinges.
"Lucky luck, sstrangersss!" He tells you, then bounds out of the kitchen. You can hear the crash of glass from the other room as he bumbles right out the window, to freedom.
"I suppose... you were right," Rotgud eeks slowly, pained, "He was some use after all. However, I think I am finished. Just leave me lying here, my friend, and continue to fight the good fight. Please save my family."
> Go through the door without Sir Rotgud > Take Sir Rotgud anyway and go through the door > Go back the way you came (into the dining room)> Let your partner handle Ratwel and flee into: > The ornamental door iloveyouDIE $ You leave your comrade to contend with Ratwel. He'll buy you some time, for certain. You can already hear them beginning to scuffle as your partner bull-charges the butler.
You go to the ornamental door. It's locked, but you have the key. It slides open silently and you dart inside, turning about to lock it right behind you.
There's a flutter-creak sound behind you, and you turn to find yourself at the forefront of enormous study. There are books on shelves as high as the eye can see, and further down the center of the room, you see a sturdy desk. No doubt, this is where Sir Rotgud did all of his work.
As you approach, something on the desk moves. Two somethings, in fact. Stationscary Beasts - one Calligryph, one Papercore. They peer at you curiously, coming to sit on the end of the desk. The Papercore looks wary to see you, and you can't really tell the emotion coming from the pen-headed Calligryph.
There is a large stack of papers on the desk. To the left corner of the room, there is an open door leading to the unknown.
> Look through the papers > Introduce yourself to the Beasts and tell them your plight > Go through the door to the left > Go back the way you came

[[ > Introduce yourself to the Beasts and tell them your plight ]]
I threw myself through the door and slammed it shut and locked behind me. I held my breath, if only for a moment to be sure there was nothing coming through the door behind me. Would Ratwel realize I had the key?
Once I became aware of the stationscary beasts I gathered my wits a bit. I wanted to explore this place, maybe find an exit or some clue.. but these beasts could be Ratwel's.. how could I know?
"I'm sorry to disturb you." I held up my hands, both empty. "I came to this mansion for shelter. I met Sir Rotgud.. trapped as a knife.. and then Ratwel. I am just looking for a way out.. some safety."
I wasn't much feeling like helping anymore but somewhere inside I felt bad for leaving Sir Rotgud behind.

Right of the Staircase elvyralani (x) With your mystical powers of eenie-meenie, you have decided that this is the right way to go. The door opens to a hallway which is, rather oddly, very pink. You begin to walk forward, only to find that the floor sinks beneath your feet. One of your legs goes knee deep in some sort of gook.
Too bad your partner isn't here to help you out. Looks like you're stuck.END ((Proceed to Foyer)) > Inspect the Knife Kanth (xx) ou decide the knife is just a little too interesting to pass up. You approach it, mindful of keeping a chair between you and it. You’re not vagrants, you tell it. You were seeking shelter, and maybe some help.
“Help? Ha! I could say the same.” And yes, indeed, that voice IS coming from the blade. “Well, don’t just stand their with your jaw on the floor. Pick me up and let me see the face of my unsuspecting guest!”
Guest? You do as you’re told, though, picking up the knife and (this is stupid), flashing its reflective steel up to hold your image within it. Your partner peers over your shoulder curiously.
There are vibrations in your hand as the knife chuckles darkly. “Well, aren’t you a sorry lot? You must forgive me; usually I am not so indisposed as this. I would have you seen to. As it stands, you’ve met me… at a very strange time in my life.”
> Ask the knife for more information > Place it in your pocket and continue on: (one of the choices below) > Leave the knife and continue on: (one of the choices below) > Inspect the handprint on the door > Go through the door with the handprint > Look out the window > Go back > Introduce yourself to the Beasts and tell them your plight iloveyouDIE The beasts stare at you for a moment, and you're beginning to feel silly indeed for talking to animals. Then, the gryph looks at the core, who seems to get an unspoken message and snorts. The beasts move in careful organization around the desk, and together, they procure paper and ink.
You watch the gryph sit down before the paper, delicately dipping its tail into the ink before using it to write in an open, florid scrawl.
You cannot run far from the keeper of the house keeper of keys, Not even the Master was master of this house There is no shelter in this place No escape but demise What has become of our Master?

[[ > Tell them about the 'Master' ]]
I step closer when they begin to write. Apparently everyone knew this Ratwel guy was a big problem and I had to be stupid enough to go along with him. DAMMIT! I should have stuck with Sir Rotgud!!
"He's down in the dining room. He's trapped in the form of a knife. He.. I am trying to help him!" If I had to be stuck and helping this family would get me out... well then I guess I was helping.
