Kira propped himself in between the driver and Kyu, holding himself steady on the railings behind their seats. Each time the boat skipped off the waves, his head bobbed opposite of the boats motion. He bit his lip slightly, then said worriedly, "Saikoro isn't going to like this, kid. Saikoro likes things going exactly the way he says, and he said to port in Fire Country."

Kyu looked at the suddenly less-relaxed ninja, and shook his head with a toothy, cunning smile. With confidence in his voice, he corrected him, "On the contrary, he said to go to straight to Sakura Province with as few stops as possible. We port in Wave, gather supplies there, then cross the bridge and begin the investigation. I count one stop. Fire is much more trusting of Wave than Water due to its general lack of military power, so we'll waste less time passing through security. If we need to get to the boat quickly, it's just a run across the bridge back into Wave, then to the boat, simple as that. If it's especially urgent, I can swim just a little slower than this anyways. All I'm seeing is benefits, bro."

Kira slipped back into his relaxing position, his face still showing worry, "If you say so, Kyu. I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into if it doesn't work out the way you want." The ninja slid back into his seat, and closed his eyes. They still had some time until they reached port, so he figured he might as well get as much rest as he can before it was time to get back in the game.

It wasn't long before the shores of Whirlpool Country came into view, and after that, the boat was turned to go due south, towards the small country known as the Land of Waves.

The motor boat glanced off each oceanic wave like a rock skipping across a pond. At the crest of each wave, the boat would get a moment of air time, then collide hard with the next wave, where it would take off again. The waves were rougher than before, and steadily getting so as they neared the aptly named Land of Waves. The swampy shores of Wave came into sight not long after. From that first sight, time seemed to fly by until the trio found themselves looking at the massive bridge that connected the world superpower, Fire Country, and the trade-heavy archipelago, the Land of Waves.

The waterway beneath the bridge was packed with trading boats. Some of the ships even included on-board shops. From a few select clothing shops, Kyu and Kira bought some clothes common to the area. Kyu bought himself a pair of baggy sack-cloth pants, straw waraji, a low-quality tan long-sleeved shirt, a leather vest, and a large sedge hat. As an accessory, he had a leather bag to hold his ninja tool bags. The tools were held in a compartment at the bottom of the bag, where a quick bag check wouldn't find them.

Kira, on the other hand, bought something a little different. Instead of peasant's clothing, the boy got his hands on something a little nicer. A nice, gray hooded hoodie, a pair of aviator shades, normal khaki pants, and wooden geta. Behind the hoodie and glasses, his face was tough to see the details of. With the aviators as the focal point of his face, the passerby would more likely notice them or the hood before the disfiguring scar on the left side of his face.

Soon after, they docked the boat, and arranged the driver a room at a nearby inn. After doing that, they moved on to cross the bridge. As expected, crossing the heavy-traffic and low-security boarder was pretty simple. Upon reaching the other side of the bridge, they began their act.

Kira played the role of the nephew chasing his uncle Kiyo, just as Saikoro advised. Kyu acted as the nephew's servant and bodyguard for his journey. The story was that Kiyo was a traveling merchant, and they were from a family of merchants. They had a special order just for him, and had to deliver it as soon as possible. Using a picture that came from Shifune's warrant, the pair asked around for anyone that had seen Shifune. It didn't take long to get a lead. From their eye-witness accounts, the pair found out that Shifune was on the first road out of the country. From their sources, they heard that he took a cart headed to Rain Country.

As soon as they got the news, Kira called in the news to the first group. The pair ducked away into the trees outside of the town they'd been snooping in. Away from prying eyes and eavesdropping ears, he spoke over his transmitter to Hibiki and Saikoro, "Hey, Sai...koro! We snagged a lead on Shifune. We did some information gathering, and it seems like he took a cart to Rain Country. I can only guess that he's headed towards Amegakure. What are you're orders, Saikoro?"

Hayato nodded as they walked to the office. Aya was still up-beat as normal as she spoke about getting the paperwork finished off and then having some lunch like a bbq or something like that. She also noted that she didn't know many stealth or tracking skills so training was going to interesting seeing as how Aya was much more skilled then he was being that she's been a genin much longer then him. He sighed in his mind now realizing that his skill set might not be that important until he trained much much more. It wasn't important at this moment though since his focus was not on getting payed for the mission they just did. It wasn't long until they got to and into the missions office. Aya lead the way to a female who looked rather young but seemed to know what she was doing. She seemed quite proficiant as she was free while the others were still busy. She ended up taking the scroll and went threw her motions; opening it, stamping it, putting it away, and getting the payment. 160 is two equal piles of 80, which Aya took and gave one portion to him. He smiled moved out of the way for the next person in line. "thanks Aya" He stated as they headed out of the building."I think we can stop for lunch first. Plus I was only wanting to go to where I live for a few items but it's ok. I'll let you lead the way."

Aya smiled a little as she looked at Hayato as they get out onto the street 80ryo richer, Aya looked to Hayato as he said he was alright with the plan of event she had set out, and informed her on why he wanted to go to his house, she thinks for a moment before nodding. "Well then, why don't drop by your house on the way, the is a training area just outside the village near the Kage cliff, my dad use to take me there when I first came to this village". Aya said cheerfully and smiled a little as she looked at him with her cheerful smile. ↕

Saikoro yawned softly as he shouldered two bodies and strolled his way quietly to the side of a road that ended at a village nearby. With gentle care he laid the first body down, an elderly man that was the rightful owner of the vehicle that Saikoro had used to get there; there was a slight bump on the back of the man's head where Saikoro had hit him but aside from that he was physically fine. The other body however Saikoro simply slung to the ground without the slightest care of damage to it; the body was a wreck, caked in dry blood and covered in numeral wounds... the left shoulder was practically destroyed and was beyond perfect repair, wounds littered around vital muscles needed for proper movement, various marble size wounds could be seen across his body but the worse of it was what couldn't be seen. The dark skinned boy's chakra center had been eradicated and ripped apart from the inside out, the organs of the same area also ripped apart leaving internal bleeding; the muscles of the body were still spasming every so often and his heart rate was irregular. The boy had lost a tremendous amount of blood and very close on the brink of death, but the cold eyes of the man standing over him could careless.

Sighing, Saikoro turned away from the scene as a single water clone formed beside him and took on the appearance of a young girl. Quietly she watched him as he walked back into the vehicle where Koji sat waiting and took off into the distance. Once he was a good distance away, the girl would run down the road to the nearby village screaming to get the attention of whoever would hear her and when no one would be watching she would disappear into a puddle of water.

When Notwen next opened his eyes, he was staring at a wooden ceiling. He could feel the pressure of countless bandages tied all over his body, but mainly around his torso. The dark-skinned blonde tried to move his head to get a better view of his surroundings but became dizzy due to the attempt. A dull ache washed over his body.
"You shouldn't try moving too much. The painkillers can only stop you from feeling so much discomfort." said the voice of a woman on the other side of the room. Notwen fought the urge to turn his head in the direction the voice had come from.
"Where am i?" he asked hoarsely. There was a sound of a book closing and a chair being pulled across a tiled floor. Moments later the face of a woman in her mid twenties appeared. Her face was slightly angular and round. Thin eyebrows rested above cat-like eyes, whose irises were a deep brown. Her hair was long, black and velvety, pulled back into a ponytail of a length the three-eyed Uchiha couldn't yet discern.
"You are in a village near the northern edge of Fire Country." answered the woman in a rolling accent that Notwen couldn't place. "When you were found, you were on the brink of death. It appears that you were involved in a vehicle crash, and got lucky, but not entirely." her last statement trailed off with a hint of regret that the dark-skinned blonde had picked up on.
"Wait," he said, "what do you mean by that?" The woman closed her eyes and sighed.
"Please calm down before i tell you. This revelation is surely something that you will not welcome well." Notwen tried to clear his mind, but the curiosity the woman had planted on him kept him from being completely calm. Once the woman saw that the Uchiha had calmed down she proceeded to speak. "This accident has destroyed your left shoulder. If your arm had remained, it would have become a hindrance to you. So therefore it had to be..." she trailed off, unable to continue. The dark-skinned blonde's eyes grew wide with shock.
No... It can't be... he thought. He tried lifting his left arm, but was only rewarded with a dull pain in the general area where it would be. Looking down, Notwen saw that the bulk of the bandages had been wrapped around where his shoulder would be, and beyond that he didn't see his appendage.

As the reality of the situation rained down on the three-eyed Uchiha, a choked sob broke through his lips. A twin stream of tears fell from the corners of his eyes and tickled his ears. I guess i will never be able to practice archery again. he thought, letting his emotions flow freely. He would have considered it embarrassing to show his tears to a stranger, but this was just too much to keep within himself. Archery was one of the activities Notwen had come to love doing. And with only one arm, how was he supposed to use jutsu? That and the fact that his internal chakra system was in shambles, and would need to be re-established from the ground up.

A comforting hand rested on Notwen's good shoulder. He looked to find that the woman had a stern expression. Looking directly into the dark-skinned blonde's eyes she said,
"Losing a limb is no reason for you to grieve. You should be thankful that you are still alive, boy." The three-eyed Uchiha's scalp tingled when the woman called him boy, but then it occurred to him that he didn't know the woman's name either. With a sigh, he calmed down and introduced himself.
"My name is Notwen Uchiha." said Notwen, unaware of the slight change that had come over the woman's eyes.
"And my name is Rose. It's a pleasure to get to know you." replied Rose. "By your name i assume you belong to the Uchiha Clan, which makes you a ninja, correct?" she asked. The dark-skinned blonde nodded. "You may think that since you lost your arm, your career as a ninja is finished, but what if i told you that i can help you regain your abilities and refine them?" Notwen's eyes widened and his jaw fell slightly open.
"How would you be able to do that, Rose?" he asked, slightly pushing himself up with his right arm only to have Rose push him back down gently.
"Before i teach you this art, we are going on a vacation. Your body is in serious need of rest. Whatever happened during that accident caused your energy centers to lock up as well as heavy internal damage. As a result, any strenuous activities are prohibited." Notwen thought back to what happened on the road, then remembered the promise he had made to his brother and gritted his teeth.
I will not lose my way! Not now! he thought. The dark-skinned blonde looked at Rose for a moment, then said, "Are you sure? I don't want to cost you any finances." The woman smiled.
"I have been appointed as your caretaker, so you just let me deal with everything else. My home is your home." Notwen felt at peace for the first time since he left Wind Country. For weeks now he had been traveling back and forth, looking for leads on the Seven Swords. Then the whole situation that arose with Garsem and the stranger. Now he was crippled and cut off from Kaala due to the lack of having his Crown Chakra barred from use. He sighed in resignation.
"Thanks, Rose. I owe a lot to you." Rose got up from her seat and walked toward a table at the other end of the room. When she came back she was holding an apple in her hand, which she handed over to the crippled boy. After Notwen took the apple with his right hand, rose said,
"I'm not the only one you need to thank. The rest of the villagers helped as well. The apple you are holding came from a fruit basket made by this village's youths. Anyway eat up. You have been unconscious for three days now." Notwen did as he was told. He sat up and crunched on the apple. As the sour-sweet fleshy fruit made its way down to his stomach, he couldn't help but gaze at his bandaged shoulder and sigh.
"Hey, Rose, when do i get to move around?" asked the dark-skinned blonde, which brought a wider smile to the woman's face.
"I thought you'd never ask." she said with a chuckle. "If all goes well, you will be able to walk with a crutch. There are some wounds on your legs that would make it impossible to walk without support." Notwen nodded in understanding.
"Tomorrow i will thank everyone for their kindness." He said. After finishing the apple, the three-eyed Uchiha threw the core into the waste basket on the side of his bed, laid back, and fell asleep.

A few minutes after Notwen had closed his eyes, he was enveloped in the misty shroud of his dream-scape. He blinked a few times, then began walking around. It appeared as though he was walking through a ruined city. In the distance the dark-skinned blonde could see a faint glow coming up from the ground, so he made his way to it. Moments later he had arrived at a rather large clearing, and at its center stood Novvus, who was the source of light. The golden radiance that emanated from him filled Notwen with a warmth that soothed the core of his very being.

"Brother, i know what happened to you, and it pains me that i couldn't do anything to help you." said the black-haired boy. "But what made me happy is that even though you lost your arm and experience such heavy damage, you haven't given up hope." He paused and walked up to his brother, placing a hand on the blonde's shoulder. "Do you still wish to be a ninja, Notwen?" The three-eyed Uchiha looked into Novvus' blue eyes and without flinching said,
"Yes i do, brother." Novvus nodded and retreated back to the place he had been standing moments earlier.
"That's all i needed to hear. Your determination and will to survive has filled me with the power necessary to help reconstruct your chakra network." Notwen watched in wonder as a gargantuan tree sprouted from the mist-shrouded earth. It glowed with the same radiance as Novvus and had a translucent look to it, yet it was solid. Notwen could see seven spheres of color stacked vertically in the center of the trunk of the tree, and was delighted to recognize the colors of the chakras. The red sphere was below ground level in the roots, the orange sphere a few inches higher than the base, the yellow sphere around the middle of the trunk, the green sphere located where the first branches began to fan out, the blue sphere at the place where the trunk disappeared in the foliage, the purple sphere suspended in the branches, and finally the white sphere resting on the topmost branch.

All Notwen could do was gaze up at the splendor that was the Tree of the Seven Chakras. Now that it was there, he could feel new life returning to the broken dream-scape. Turning to his brother, the crippled Uchiha said,
"Thanks Novvus, i don't know what i'd do without you." The blue-eyed boy smiled.
"No need to thank me, it was your drive that enabled me to help you. Besides, this is still the beginning. The chakras still have to be opened manually, and when they are all open, the ruined city you walked through will be whole again." Notwen nodded.
"You're right, Novvus. Since the use of my chakra has been restored, all that needs to be done is heal my body, and it's something that will not happen overnight."
"Mmh. In any case, you can return to your body, brother. When you are able to meditate again, you know what to do."
"Yeah." Notwen turned and started walking the way he had come, his path now illuminated by the tree's light. "I'll be back as soon as i can." With that said, the three-eyed Uchiha's awareness dimmed until he found himself sleeping soundly.

Hayato nodded and thought for a moment. He knew where the training area was located, but there was a problem. He lived a ways from the village and the training ground so it could take a moment, let alone the few suprises that were around. He paused his thought, looked over to aya and gave a slight smile to Aya. "Um... well my place is going to take a while, so you can go ahead of me and get things ready alright? I'll end up being a few moments...". He wasn't sure what Aya would think so he waited for a responce before leaving for his house.

The next morning Notwen awoke feeling more refreshed, yet still feeling the soreness of his wounds. Sunlight streamed in from an open window, forcing the crippled Uchiha to put up his right arm to block the blinding rays. From the shade his arm provided the hazel-eyed boy could make out more things that he had missed the night before, like the fact that he was in a one-room apartment. On the far side of the room Notwen saw a small kitchenette. The floor was tiled with alternating white and peach-colored squares. The counter was built from a rich red wood that was polished to a beautiful finish. A window was nestled right above the sink, granting whoever stood there a beautiful view of the surrounding forest. Over the stove he spied a pot of boiling oatmeal. The bubbling cereal released the sweet scent of honey and cinnamon, which made Notwen's stomach grumble after the previous night's measly dinner.

Next to the kitchenette was a study area equipped with two armchairs and a low coffee table crammed with neat stacks of papers. A bookshelf hugged the wall behind one of the armchairs, filled with volumes of varying colors and widths. It is there that he saw Rose sitting in an armchair. The young woman was reading what appeared to be an old medical tome, but the fact that she laughed made Notwen rethink his assumption. Pushing himself a bit higher, the dark-skinned blonde studied his immediate environment. He was in what appeared to be a small clinical ward, complete with a cabinet full of medical equipment. The bed produced a light creak as his weight shifted, causing Rose to look up from her book. She smiled at him and placed a beautiful hand-woven bookmark in the crease of the pages she was reading before closing the book.
"Good morning, Notwen." she said as she walked over to him. "How are you feeling today?" Notwen sat up completely and smiled at Rose.
"Good morning, Rose. I feel a lot better than i did yesterday." he replied. "But i still feel a bit sore." The woman nodded and proceeded to check up on his pulse, which she found to be stronger and more regular. With a nod Rose said,
"Good! Your vitals seem to have finally stabilized! How about your legs? Can you move them well?" The question had caught Notwen off guard. He hadn't actually tried to move his legs when he had come to the day before, nor moments ago when he sat up. With deliberately slow movements the dark-skinned blonde began to flex his knees, supporting himself with his arm. Once his knees formed acute angles, the three-eyed Uchiha straightened them out again. He repeated this action twice more to make sure he wouldn't feel pain.
"It doesn't hurt to move them, and i guess i can say they move well." said Notwen. Rose took a few steps back.
"Now try standing up." she instructed. Doing as he was told, the dark-skinned blonde turned to the left so that his legs dangled over the side of the bed. Before he put his bare fee on the ground Rose said, "Slip your feet into those." She was pointing at a pair of indoor slippers a few inches to the crippled boy's right. "The last thing you want is to catch a cold." Shifting over, Notwen slid off of the bed so that his feet landed on the house shoes. After properly putting them on his feet, he tried to stand, but a searing pain on the back of his knees caused him to wince and sit back on the bed.
"That hurt." said the crippled boy through clenched teeth, waiting until the pain had subsided. Once it had he said, "Looks like my legs can't support my weight yet." Rose frowned at the expression on Notwen's face. First she went over to the kitchenette to turn off the oatmeal, then she walked past the bed to where the medical cabinet was. Reaching behind the cabinet, the woman pulled out a single crutch. Walking back to the bed, she handed Notwen the metal crutch.
"This is the only thing in this village besides your own two legs that can hold you up. If things had turned out differently i would have given you a walker, but this is what you'll have to work with."

After adjusting the length of the crutch, Notwen fitted it under his armpit and attempted to stand up again. He succeeded in supporting his body without feeling any pain, but since his balance was off due to his missing arm, the crippled boy tipped to the right and fell over. Rose couldn't help herself and laughed as she helped the Uchiha back up to the bed.
"Rose, that's not funny." said Notwen, his face flushed. "It is downright humiliating." The woman succeeded in calming herself down and after clearing her throat, she said,
"I know, but you should have seen the look on your face." When the three-eyed Uchiha gave Rose a look that implied that he was not amused by her mirth, she became serious but still kept her smile. "Okay, i apologize. Try again." The crippled boy did, and this time he succeeded in maintaining his balance by moving the crutch away from his body. Without being prompted, Notwen tried walking forward. First he moved his left leg forward. After putting half of his weight on it, he moved the crutch and his right leg forward and past his left. The whole process took about two seconds, but after a few repetitions Notwen was walking at his usual pace with a slight lag between each step.

"Yeah that sounds fine, so we'll meet up at the training sight, that should be fine, we can talk about other missions and plans we may have while there, so seeya soon". Aya said with a smiled as she move a little doing a little spin as she went down another path, waving a little as she headed down the path, walking backward so as to watch Hayato as he headed to his house, before turning around and walking to the area she had mentioned. After a 10-15 minute walk she made it to the training ground, she guess it would take Hayato half a hour or so to get to his house and over to the training ground, maybe longer but she wasn't sure, she began to gather some wood from around the main training area as she waited.

Looking around the area Aya smiled a little she had been here a few times with her father and mother, it was a nice training place, it was outside the main village so it was as well maintained at the others. It was a large open area, of around twenty-ish meters which was dirt with bit of grass here and there, from the area you could see a cliff, that joined with the Kage mountain, ten meters past a small area of woodland was a pond that lead into a small stream and had water dump into from off the cliff, around the cleared area was a a tree line, some of the trees had robe tired around them as to make them more suitable for Taijutsu training, a few had target boards, near the trees that lead onto the pond was a brick barbecue pit and grill.

He nodded his head and then was off quickly. From where they were origionally standing, Ayay would make it to the training grounds before he even reached the outer limits of his house. He knew though his houses secrets though so it would be quite easy to get inside, after all he put everything there along with his parents. It took him about ten minutes to sprint to a spot in which was about a mile away from the house. This is the first test of three where silent but deadly. Quickly he focused his chakra to his feet and jumped onto the low sections of the tree's and started to bound off of every second or third tree. He did this for about a third of a mile, and then at a very specific point (mainly a rock on which he landed on), he dropped to the ground and closed his eyes as he mentally drew a map in which he remembered the next trap set. With a large breath taken, Hayato jumped up high and grabbed a branch and started to rock his body back and forth until he was around a fourty five degree angle from the ground in which he released the branch and lurched himself forward to another. He was now using enough momentum in which he didn't need to wait for the right swing angle, he just needed to time everything right. He'd done this enough though in which he knew the timing almost perfectly. Normally this would give people ripped up hands, but with Hayato he rarely had any marks as his hands were thicker skinned then normal only by a bit. This gave him a better resistance to minor cuts and other things like slivers. Ether way though, he kept his mind focused and the time flew by until he'd swung his way to only a quarter mile away from his house. At this time there was a very small pond in which he jumped right into from the last tree branch. With that he jolted out of the water and calmly walked to his houses front door. This whole process took about twenty five minutes but was all necessary. Once to his door, he placed his palm up to the keyhole and paused for a second. ten seconds passed and then locks started to click and the door opened up without touching the doorhandle. Inside looked small but it was an in and out job in which he thusly came out with a small package of some meat. He closed the door behind him and did the whole process again backwards. About an hour after they'd split up, Hayato arrived at the training grounds in which he looked over and walked up to Aya with package in hand. He bowed to her slightly and then looked at her. "Sorry about the wait, again I'm out of the way quite a bit as you could tell. Anyways, we ready to start?" he asked as he broke the brown tape on his package.

Fifteen minutes later Notwen and Rose were sitting across from each other at an outdoor table adjacent to the small house. The crippled boy had been given fresh clothes to wear, which he had donned with some difficulty In front of them was a bowl of steaming, sweet-smelling oatmeal. Notwen spooned the cereal into his mouth, not being bothered by the heat, causing Rose to look at him with a raised eyebrow. After three more spoonfuls the dark-skinned blonde noticed that the woman was studying him and slowed down his consumption. After a few seconds of silence, she spoke.
"Doesn't the fact that you lost your arm bother you, Notwen?" The three-eyed Uchiha swallowed and looked at his bandaged shoulder. Suddenly the dull pain he had felt earlier returned. Wincing, he looked back at Rose.
"To be honest, it does bother me. Losing my arm, as a ninja, is one of the most difficult things i have had to deal with. But i'm not going to sit down and cry just because i'm crippled." The woman nodded, and Notwen resumed eating his oatmeal. Once he was done with his breakfast, Rose spoke again.
"It seems that your healing is progressing faster than i expected. I think i will begin teaching you the method i mentioned last night tomorrow." When the crippled boy began to rise from his chair out of excitement, the woman put her hand up. "But before then, get some mild exercise by walking around the village. Explore for a few hours, then come back for lunch. After lunch look around some more and return for dinner. It is then that i will begin to explain what it is that i am teaching you. Agreed?" she said. Notwen sank back into his seat slowly, a bit disappointed that he had to wait the whole day before he had an idea of what it was Rose had in store for him.
"Agreed." he said. I knew there was some kind of catch involved.
"Good. Now off with you. I'll take care of the dishes." With that said the woman collected the bowls and took them inside, leaving the crippled boy alone. Grabbing his crutch, he got up and limped down the worn path in the direction where he could see houses, unaware of the pair of green eyes that watched him from behind a tree.

Aya had collected a few bits of wood, she smiled a little as she placed them in the barbecue pit and got some more wood, as she set up the pit so she could cook the food that she had brought while on the mission before, once she had the collected some extra wood and set it next to the barbecue pit, and moved back a little, and formed some hand seals, with a deep breath she moved a hand to her month in a released the breath she had taken. Three small fireballs formed and hit the pile or twigs and wood she had collected, setting the small pile alight, she had used the 'Fire Release - Phoenix Immortal Fire' jutsu she had learned years ago, with her mother.

Letting the fire heat up the grill over the pit, she looked at thing and then started getting things ready, cutting the vegetables so they were smaller but large enough to fit on the grill without falling though, same with some of the meat, humming a little as she got it all ready, checking the grill once hot enough she smiled a slowly place the thin bit of steaks on the grill with a light sizzle and the heat cooked the meat placing one of the container the vegetables came in so she had something to hold the meat when it was done, moving them and flipping them as she learned where to put them to cook them best.

When Hayato turned up a little later, she looked at at him as she removed some of the cook meat slices, as she added some vegetable to the girl. "Hey Hayato, the food I got is almost done, so come over, so did you think on what you wanted to try out training wise?".

The forest environment was completely new to Notwen. The earthy ground was firm and soft at the same time, unlike the shifting sands of Wind Country and the stiff rocky roads of Earth Country. The air was suffused with the smell of wild flowers and greenery, and thrummed with the sounds of insects, birds and small animals. All of these things filled the crippled boy with a sense of serenity and deep calm. As he limped on towards the village, caught in the beauty and life of his surroundings, Notwen didn't notice the person that had fallen into step with him until he spoke.
"The forest is beautiful, isn't it?" The dark-skinned blonde stumbled out of surprise and began to fall forward. Had he hit the floor, Notwen would have fallen flat on his face, but a pair of slender, yet strong arms caught him before that happened. After being helped up, the crippled boy eyed the newcomer warily. He had a slightly tanned skin tone, spiky blue hair cut short, blueish green eyes, and a disarming smile. He wore a plain white t-shirt and black jeans. On his feet he wore a pair of white sneakers with black laces. "Sorry if i startled you." said the boy, his smile diminishing and his eyes taking an apologetic cast. "My name is Musamaru Tokine." Musamaru held out his hand for Notwen to shake it.
"I am Notwen Uchiha." replied the crippled boy, balancing himself against his crutch in order to shake the newcomer's hand. "Don't worry about it. Thanks for catching me, Musamaru." The fact that he wasn't able to sense his surroundings the way he used to caused Notwen to increase his guard, but he could discern that the boy in front of him was not hostile. The blue-haired boy seemed at a loss on how to continue the conversation, due to how awkwardly they had met, but managed to say,
"Rose asked me to be your guide for the time you stay in Jouryoku Village." He scratched his head, looking away from Notwen. "You wouldn't mind, would you?" The dark-skinned blonde smiled.
"Not at all." he replied. "I would appreciate it, Musamaru. Thanks for taking the time to show me around." Musamaru turned and began walking down the path, but Notwen could have sworn he saw a blush. Shrugging he followed after his guide.

As the two boys walked down the path towards the village, Notwen couldn't help but notice the vibrancy of the foliage in the sunlight. It seemed almost as if the leaves were radiating life. The crippled boy turned to face his Musamaru, who was now walking alongside him.
"Is it me, or is this forest....'alive'?" he asked, which caused the young guide to smile.
"I guess you can say that." replied the blue-haired boy. "The fact that these trees are giving off life energy is tied to an event that happened many generations ago."
"What would that be?" asked Notwen. The young guide coughed to clear his throat.
"Many generations ago a forest fire broke out in this region of the country. The blaze had raged for about two days without showing any signs of letting up. It was then that the Sage of Five Paths appeared."
"The Sage of Five Paths?" said the three-eyed Uchiha, cocking an eye brow. Musamaru nodded.
"Uh-huh. The Sage was a master of the fire style. He had created a doctrine based on the five aspects of fire, which he labeled with the colors red, blue, green, white and black." A reverent smile spread across the blue-haired boy as he continued his narration. "Using his red fire, the Sage caused the forest fire to burn itself out. Then he used his white fire, which had amazing restorative properties, to heal the forest and return it to its former state. Finally, the Sage used his green fire to encase the greenery in the forest in a fine layer of dust. The green fire was said to preserve whatever it touched in a gem-like material almost as hard as diamond. For him to not suffocate the vegetation with that ability was a miracle of its own." Notwen frowned. He was curious as to what the Sage's other abilities.
"And what about the other two types of fire?" asked the crippled boy. The blue-haired boy replied.
"The blue fire was a stronger variant of the red fire. The black fire, however," he said with a shudder, "had the power to suck the life out of whatever it came in contact with."
"Oh..." was all Notwen could manage to say. He felt like an a** for inquiring about such knowledge, consciously or not. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be." replied Musamaru with as smile. "It's my job as your guide to answer any questions you may have about Jouryoko Forest and its history." When he saw the Uchiha nod, the young guide continued his narration once more. "The Sage's efforts had left him incredibly weak. He charged the founder of our village to take care of the forest in his absence, and with that he imbued it with the remainder of his life energy. It is one of the reasons we hold our biennial Shōka Iwai no Chikai, a time when the village as a whole replicates the Sage's feat by sharing our life energy with the trees and vegetation." Notwen gasped.
"But wouldn't that shorten your life spans?" Musamaru laughed.
"It's not like we do it for days on end, just a few minutes at a time each. If anything, it would take off a few months off of our lives tops."
By this time they had reached the edge of the village. Each house was one story high and painted white. There were gardens everywhere. Some had vegetables while others had flowers. There were even some gardens with both. Children played in the street while adults chatted close by. There was an air of happiness in the air that made Notwen feel at home. He found himself to be smiling without knowing.
It's almost as if this village were a Utopia... thought the three-eyed Uchiha, marveling at the serene grace of the village.
"Come on," said Musamaru, beckoning to Notwen with a jerk of his neck. "there's more to see inside the village." Wordlessly he followed his guide into the village of the evergreens.
