Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Syy's cheeks went just a light bit of pink "My life has been...much more eventful then the small amount I've shared." he said quietly, his fingers linking together just slightly. As for Inka's past...Syy's mouth twisted and pursed, wondering how to ask questions he didn't know what were yet "Ah...well...." he rubbed his chin with one finger, still thinking "What...." Syy frowned and tapped his lip "I'm not good at asking questions that aren't...professional, I think." he tried to smile awkwardly but it didn't really come off well "I guess I'll start with the ordinary things? Do you...like animals?" he asked, smiling awkwardly again. Syy was so awkward about things like this...he wasn't used to being around people anymore. Isolation was something he was used to...so this was going to be an interesting time. The choice to change is always there; | ; ↳ Mizukage ↳ Ninjutsu↳ Sensor

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' Inka managed crack an amused smirk at the awkwardness of the situation. It seemed neither of them were good with small talk. "Animals?" He repeated, amusement growing. "I don't really know, to be honest. I've never really had any dealings with animals. I like fish. The koi pond was the closest I came to owning a pet." Red eyes looked away, but he continued, ignoring a memory and trying to hide the darkening in his eyes. "I would watch them swim for hours, when I was little. I wasn't allowed to feed them, though. But I always found it cute how they came up to eat, like they were shy about being seen eating. It convinced me, at one point, that they were the koi of fairytales. You know the ones I mean? The beautiful girls, disguised as koi? Girls wont eat in front of boys they like, so as to appear constantly attractive. Opening one's mouth wide to eat a dumpling isn't the most appealing scene in the world, for example." Inka chuckled softly. "The koi reminded me of that." A serene smile had graced Inka's lips as he talked, face soft as recalled his more happier moment of childhood. "I couldn't name them," he admitted. "For fear I'd insult them with a name less deserving than then ones they held. But I knew every single one, could draw their pattern without need to look at them."

Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Listening to Inka muse about the koi, Syy couldn't help but smile. Inka looked positively delighted when he thought of them though..."Ah...well, no. I don't know any fairy tales or the like..." he replied, smiling to make it less....painful an admittance. An orphan, no one ever spared him the time to tell him stories. And the only two men who might have were more concerned with him surviving then entertaining him "But I like the idea...Koi girls." he thought for a moment then flipped a paper over, grabbing a pen and started to do a little sketch "Why not name them now? Did you have a favorite?" Syy asked, his head bent over the drawing, hair falling to shield his face. The choice to change is always there; | ; ↳ Mizukage ↳ Ninjutsu↳ Sensor

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' "No? Truthfully, I didn't know the tale either until..." Inka looked down briefly, red eyes unable to meet Sypher's gaze for that moment. He'll learn about it eventually... Inka reasoned. "Until my little sister told me. A man rescued a koi - injured in a nearby stream. He raised it with so much love and care that the brown koi transformed into a beautiful woman and soon became his devoted wife. That's the short version, anyway. Hardly as romantic as the original, but that's all I can remember of it." Red eyes finally turned back to Syy. "She named them for me, my sis." There was mixture of fondness and sadness as he spoke. "There was one that, when a splayed my fingers out into the water, it would swim through them and try to eat my palm as well. I loved the feel of the scales and tails so I did it whenever nobody was looking. She was black, with gold touching the ends of her tails and fins and three irregular spots lined up from her mouth. There were two red spots down near her belly as well, almost matching, but the one on her left side was a little bigger and higher up the length of body. And she had white lips," Inka chuckled. "It was like she was from some foreign lands... 'Honey'. She had named the koi Honey."

Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Syy looked up sharply as he heard the hesitation in Inka's voice but didn't say anything, focusing on his drawing. The paper spun left and right, his pen dipping and scratching across the surface. It wouldn't be in color....but he'd probably do a painting of it later "Your sister..." he repeated, more just to see how it felt to say the word 'sister'. There had been a girl Syy would have liked to call sister...probably would have been more if she'd lived. Suddenly he put his pen down and looked up at Inka, deciding right then that "Inka..." he almost said it but in the end just went back to looking at his drawing. Shinboi were always at risk....risk of death or worse. Saying what he felt would be...pointless. And it would be babying. Syy wouldn't baby Inka. Not at all "Honey is a good name. Sounds like that was a beautiful fish..." he put his pen down and tilted the drawing left and right before sliding it over to Inka "A koi girl, I think. I don't know. I've never seen a koi before... But maybe that is what that man saw when he rescued his koi." he said, smiling as he waited for Inka's opinion of the drawing. The choice to change is always there; | ; ↳ Mizukage ↳ Ninjutsu↳ Sensor

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' At Sypher's repetition of the word, the itch in Inka's right hand grew to be too much. The hand lifted, finger tucking themselves under the back of his collar so as to touch the tattooed patch of skin on the chuunin's left shoulder blade. Red eyes looked up at his name, but saw Sypher just go back to his drawing. "She was. Maybe still is." Inka looked down at the picture, the curiosity on his face falling at the drawing set before him. Slowly, a small smile worked its way up onto his face. "It looks like how I used to imagine Honey." He admitted. Fingers gently traced the edges of the paper, daring not touch the image directly. "Could I..." Red eyes flickered up to Sypher. "keep this?"

Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Was... His eyes giving a hint of sympathy to Inka before they flashed back to an unreadable gold and purple hue, Syy nodded "I don't usually do drawings...I like painting. You can have that, its fine. But know that a painting is in your future." he said, attempting a joke. His hand went to the edge of the paper, near Inka's, fingers brushing the paper lightly "Can I ask what happened to her...?" he asked softly, giving Inka the choice to say yes or..."Its all right to say no. I won't pry." he promised, withdrawing his hand again to settled it over his other hand. The choice to change is always there; | ; ↳ Mizukage ↳ Ninjutsu↳ Sensor

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' "My sister...?" He asked, momentarily distracted by the hand near his. He looked up, turning his head to gaze at the empty picture frame resting by the vase of flowers - always kept fresh - both sitting on the side table that Inka had gathered the incense burner from. "That." He explained. A small shrine for the dead, though the picture frame was supposed to hold an image of the deceased. Inka waited until Sypher saw before continuing. "When you renounce yourself from you clan, you have to sever every tie, every connection. I can't admit ever having her as a sister, much less have a picture of her. I don't think I would be able to sleep at night even if I did." The last was whispered, angry and sad.

Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Syy turned his head to gaze at the empty picture frame, his lips tight. Inka had renounced himself? That....Syy had known that Inka was separated from his family but the details he hadn't known. Still didn't but "I'm sorry..." he turned his head back around to Inka, apologizing for bringing up the subject. He stayed silent for a moment, wondering if it would be proper to offer to paint Inka's sister from what Inka told him. Then, almost without meaning to, he reached into the pocket of his pants and drew out a chain of sorts. It was polished, shining silver silver links that were slender but could obviously leave some damage if whipped across the face. But two almost cerulean blue ribbons had been woven through the links, forming two bows at either end that could be untied to make it a necklace or bracelet. He held it in his hand for a moment before putting his hands on the table, moving the chain back and forth between them "I...don't know if I have siblings. If I do, I don't know them nor they me." Syy said carefully, gently capturing some of the blue ribbon between two fingers "Villages are supposed to be an extended family. Shinobi an even closer form of such. But...well, my teacher was a loner. And I was not very civilized as a child. And that is putting it politely, mind you." he smiled but it drifted off as he let the chain slid through his fingers onto the table "Other then my teacher, I knew no one when I was a child. I was...I had rabbit ears, you see. Until I was a chuunin, they functioned as ears. Real rabbit ears." he brought his hands up to the sides of his face, fingers sticking up to mimic ears but there was no smile on his face "A cruel punishment from an even crueler keeper. It was a sensitive subject for me, those ears, and I hid them. Always. Until this silly little girl with ice cold hands ripped the hat off my head and nearly took my ears off as well." Syy's lips managed a grim smile "She was...I don't know if I could call her my first love. She was a mean thing, always pulling and picking, starting fights. But she was sick...all the time. And frequently fell so ill she could barely move." his jaw tightened as his eyes grew moist and he turned his head away from Inka with a frown "Despite that, despite everything, she was important to me. Closer to me then anyone had ever been. Perhaps because we shared a childhood that was eerily similar. I...I would very much have liked her to be my sister." he put his hand on the chain, covering it as he gathered himself "She was born here and when...when her health began to truly fail...she left Kumogakure to come here." Syy looked back at Inka for a moment then began to gather the chain back up, undoing the ribbons so he could bind it around his wrist "She died by the side of the road...and never made it here." he wrapped the chain around his wrist and secured the ribbons, shaking his sleeve down over it "I know...I know its not the same, her's and mine to what relationship you had with your little sister. But...my mind has been damaged so many times, shattered and put back together with missing bits and half formed pieces that I...cannot remember what she looked like. I know her name because....because it is Septima. And I named Ima for her." he gripped his wrist tightly, the chain biting into his skin. Septima had given him the ribbons....but he could not remember the one who gave him the chain. That memory was completely gone. Vanished. A blank hole that he would never fill....could never fill "If...if it is not an insult to you...I can paint your little sister for you. So you have something to see that is more then memory..." Syy instantly set about shuffling the papers he'd brought, determined to hide the utter embarrassment and threatening tears. He didn't talk about Septima. He just...didn't. It was something he tried hard to not think about even because..."If she had let me come with her......" his voice was barely a whisper as he bent for a paper, using the opportunity to wipe his eyes on his sleeve "I can understand if you refuse." he looked at Inka, his brow firm and lips just hinting at a smile.

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' Inka had listened, silently, as Sypher spoke. Red eyes did not drift from the empty picture frame until the mention of the rabbit ears; Inka couldn't help an inquisitive, amused glance then, as though daring Syy to reveal that the rabbit ears were a hoax. And it was on Syy that they remained, watching him as he revealed more and more of himself. By the end, Inka found himself gazing at the frame once more, face blank. "I have no words." He admitted. "And many a time, during my grieving, I wished people did not either." One hand traced the edges of the paper, the koi lady gazing up at the ceiling, while the other rested unmoving in Inka's lap. "Thank you. For the offer. But I would only see blame in those eyes if you painted her. Even in my memories, long before her death, I see blame. I would not survive under those eyes for even an hour."
Inka sat at the table, food going cold and forgotten before him. Silence had filled the room when Inka suddenly stood from his chair, hands going to the small, black chest-gear he wore. Deftly, he undid the buckle at his throat that held the collar high, walking over to Sypher's side as he did so. Turning, with his back to the kage, Inka dropped to his knees and pulled the back of the collar down, revealing the tattoo. Rare did it see the light of day, and even more rare to be met by a pair of eyes. It was simple; just seven lines sprouting from an empty center. "You have your tiger, and I have my ink." He explained. "I'm... too weak to see her, too weak to have a reminded in my eyes, but I always feel her, and have somehow found comfort in the mark on my shoulder. She is my courage as well as torment." Inka paused, looking over his shoulder, red eyes not quite meeting Sypher. "Hanabi. Her name was Hanabi. It means fireworks."

Sypher "Syy" Senju The past does not dictate the future; | ; Syy dipped his head, nodding at Inka's refusal, looking to his glass and finding he wasn't thirsty anymore. As Inka moved to sit next to him, Syy turned with curiosity to see the tattoo, his head tipping to the side to examine it "..." his palm came up, hovering over Inka's skin as he leaned forward, looking at the lines and the circle. Syy's tattoo was more extensive, more detailed....but his hid the kind of shame and rage that could never be used for anything. Inka's was more like...a memorial of flesh. A remembrance and he put his hand down without touching Inka "Hanabi." he smiled a bit and bowed his head quietly before reaching out and playfully pinching Inka's neck lightly "Sounds like a fun name. Fireworks are always joyful." he couldn't fiddle with his papers anymore, they were already organized so much even Yuri wouldn't understand what had been done and Syy...well "I hope that she will remain your courage and comfort." his hand flexed in his lap and Syy decided a joke, possibly a bad one, was needed to loosen this atmosphere that had settled around them. He'd wanted to talk with Inka but not on such a deep level...not right away. Somehow, though....he could never not speak when Inka was around. He'd have to work on that or Inka would have all his secrets "Put your high collar back on or I'll be tempted to take that shirt off." he joked, leaning in and blowing lightly on Inka's neck, just above his collar to get a jump from Inka. A playful if possibly bad joke. Syy was not very good at joking. The choice to change is always there; | ; ↳ Mizukage ↳ Ninjutsu↳ Sensor

xxxxxxxxxxx˪ ˲ 'It was all useless! It couldn't save her! Useless!' Red eyes watched the hand hovering over his tattoo out of their corners, showing no warning or indication that the hand was not welcome. Inka remained silent, even at Sypher's compliment, because there was nothing to say, and Inka had no energy left to add to it. It wasn't until Syy had leaned his head down, blowing air along the skin of Inka's neck, the breath even creeping down his back, that the chuunin moved. The hand holding the collar down reached up, almost blindly, to lace its fingers in Sypher's hair. Inka turned and leaned up, planting a kiss. "I'm tired of talking." He admitted. His voice sounded hollow, as though all energy was gone from him. He felt vulnerable, ready for reprimand, after revealing so much of himself, of his past. Another hand reached up to feel Sypher's hair, and a tired smile came over his lips. "It feels like the koi." He whispered.

Kenji followed marco closely, incase she got lost again and looked up at the apartment complexs before raising a eyebrow at him. "Why would I be sick of you? We can share if you want to, it would be easier and maybe later on we could part ways once we can support ourselves." She rubbed the back of her neck a bit, he was a good friend to her so far.
