((*shrugs* I've just had teachers who are like, "well if you're going to do that, then go do it in the lounge." In that obnoxiously condescending voice. It's never actually happened to me, but those kids were paying too--well, their parents were, they themselves didn't particularly care.))
Amelia blushed, knowing immediately he'd seen where she'd screwed up just as well as she did. Nodding to him, she mentally sighed. She was better than this. She might not know magic, but she could pay attention. That was the simple part! She ignored Lily's comment, barely hearing it as she reprimanded herself.
With a toss of her head, flipping her white hair back, she began to clear her mind of all else. To do so, she knew she had to focus on one small point, and only that. She chose the tip of his wand, as that she assumed was where the spell was intended to go. Watching it held steady within his hand, Amelia found it easy to ignore everything else. It was just like a test: everyone else was struggling with their own emotions; Amelia had to deal with the entire class's changing moods. Over time, she'd learned to ignore it, falling into the silence of the room. She could feel the faint energy from it, the residual of the phoenix who's feather it contained. It was not as strong as hers, for it did not choose her as her wand did, but the energy was still there, clear enough for her to maintain her attention. Inhaling deeply, her gaze stayed locked on the very tip, "ExpelliARmus!" she still flicked her wand, for some movement seemed necessary. She could feel her energy grow within the wand, and release it, and looked up at his face expectantly to see his response. She knew it was successful; what she didn't know is if his higher skill level would automatically block it or even if his grip had anything to do with it. The book wasn't clear on such petty issues that her mind created, but she was determined to solve them on her own.

Kenneth watched intently as Amelia calmed and readied herself to cast the spell she desired. He heard her say the spells incantation with a flick of her wrist. A second later a jet of magic shot out from the tip of her wand and hit Kenneth, causing his wand to be ripped from his hand and shore over toward Amelia. His wand hit the ground near Amelia 's feet, "Very good, Amelia, I knew that you had that in you." he said as he walked over to Amelia to retrieve his wand. He bent down and picked it up saying "We can move onto the next spell if you like or we can wait and do that another night, its up to you. I have plenty of free time to help you with these spells."
[[ My teachers are a little more cool about it, I even had one my Tax professor say, how are you going to not pay attention without computers in this room. Our Tax 1 room was in a computer lab..plus my Tax professor is rather funny. He makes the class fun. ]]

((See, it's the funny guy you listen to. When you get in trouble is when it's your English teacher and she starts talking about how her neighbor is convinced she a witch for the third time that year. And when you completely agree with neighbor as she defends herself: that's when you turn on Gaia and stop using the computer for class.))
Amelia was shocked: the opponent's wand came to you? What, were you supposed to catch it and use both at the same time? She pondered for a second deciding whether to see if she could catch the wand, when she figured she'd ask her question, "Can you use another's wand? Or two at the same time for double the power?" Just like everyone who got their wand from Ollivander's she knew her wand picked her. But what if someone else could do Expelliarmus and use hers against her? It was a scary thought though she hoped to be safely employed away from a place where she'd need to truly duel. "Is there anything I can do to protect myself and keep my wand?" Possibilities like creating a hand hostler which held the wand no matter what came to mind but seemed fairly frivolous. But this was a first year spell; there had to be ways to defend from those.

Amelia was truly new to the magical world, or at least some elements of the magical world. None the less he would gladly answers her questions to the best of his abilities. "I don't know if one could actually use two wands at the same time to cast spells, but I do know that a person could use another person's wand to cast magic. It wont be nearly as powerful as the magic you would cast from a wand that selected you to be its owner. Wands are capable of changing masters. When a wand's master is disarmed, stunned, or killed, but did not have their wand snatched from their hand, the wand will accept the old master's attacker as its new master. This will occur even if the wand in question is not in the possession of either of the two people involved. However, most wands share an affinity with their masters and will not easily discontinue its allegiance with the previous master; furthermore, wands forcibly taken in circumstances of purely competitive or friendly nature, or are stolen without attacking the previous master will not change allegiance. As for spells to protect yourself there are a few, the most common is the shield charm Protego."

Amelia nodded slowly registering it. Glancing down at her wand, she thought to it, 'You'd never leave me.' It might have been in her mind, but she felt as if the wand felt sturdier in her hand, as if agreeing. Raising her head to meet his gaze again, she asked another question, since he seemed willing to answer, "Does Protego protect you from physical attacks as well as magical ones?" A momentary image of her past flashed in her mind, reflecting in her eyes before disappearing. Amelia was small. She was easy prey to be picked on. That's why she worked hard to stand out in school: entertain people and they'll defend you. Of course there's always someone who can't be fought, but like everything else she worked hard to avoid such occasions. Still, if she could protect others....

Kenneth listened to yet another question from Amelia. When she finsihed he replied "Yes Protego will deflect minor to moderate hexes as well as any physical entities. However you have to see the attack coming in order to protect yourself."

Oops. She'd reached it. Sooner to be expected, but she knew that each teacher had his or her own limit to the number of questions she could 'waste time' asking. She'd gotten to it on the first spell, but she told herself not to worry as she had Liviana, Olli and Meiko to ask if any other need arose. Nodding in response to his answer, she doubled checked with him the next spell, "Tarantallegra, next right?" Knowing it was, she didn't pause for affirmation. Instead she focused on what she knew of the dance; the six-eight beat, cheerful and chirpy. With a flick of her wand she pronounced, "Ta-rant-Allegra." She was getting used to the sensation of nothing happening, just holding a mere stick and pointing at him with it. Still, determined to not be seen as putting off the necessary any further, she tried again, though before hand she sounded out the word again, combining the syllables correctly. The energy sent through her wand made her giggle slightly as if tickled her fingers before being released towards her target, Professor Reynolds.

Before Kenneth could answer Amelia's question about whether or not Tarantallegra was the next spell on the list, he no longer had control of his lower extremities. His legs failed around on there own accorded, he stuck out his arms and started to pin wheel them, to keep from crashing to the floor. He was having a hard time pointing his wand at his own feet to cast Finite in order to stop the spell Amelia had cast. He looked up and over at her and said "Amelia, Finite will stop the spell."

She wasn't entirely sure what she was expecting. Perhaps twenty seconds worth of dancing, to distract your opponent for the time being. But watching the larger man, who had been so uptight ((EDIT))proper((/EDIT)) and reasonable skittering across the stage, spinning slightly was just brilliant to her. Though she was biting her lip from truly laughing out loud, she attempted to end the spell. Finite didn't come easily for her during Transfiguration, so she had to try a few times, each causing him to stop, skipping a step and then begin again. Only after her third try was she frustrated enough with herself that it worked. Well, at least she'd answered another one of her questions, apparently you can't stop the curse that's placed on you. It was useful knowledge that was much more entertaining than her previous inquires.

After a few more movements of uncontrollable failing Kenneth had control of his legs once more. "Ah thank you Amelia. I was having a hard time keeping balance and trying to cast Finite on myself. Once again you did a great job."

((Maybe uptight wasn't the best word. I more meant that he was put together, well composed, that type of thing. She hasn't seen him relaxed because he thinks of her as a student not a potential friend. So she sees him as a proper, respectable grown up and can't imagine him just playing around....does that make sense? Especially since she doesn't know that he just graduated.))
Amelia looked up at him, surprise in her eyes, "So you can? Finite yourself?" For just a moment she looked mad at herself. She was supposed to stop asking questions. He might have said he had plenty of free time, but still, that didn't mean he really wanted to use it all being cursed/charmed. Shaking her head and letting her hair fall into her face, "I'm sorry I seem to be bad at finite. I expect I'll get lots of practice with it though." She gave him a weak smile, studying him hard. Unconsciously, she started to send him positive calming emotions, to insure his lack of temper tonight. "And the next spell I believe is Petrificus Totalus....the book made it sound like you'll fall down. Do you want to put a cushioning charm behind you?" She would let him do it as she hadn't quite practiced that one yet either. Charms and these last two spells were what she needed to catch up on. And she'd done as much charms as she could, though thankfully the class isn't moving anywhere forward either, so tonight she was focused on learning these.

"That is correct if you can concentrate long enough to perform the spell, you can use Finite on yourself, even if you have been magically silenced via non-verbal spells, but that my dear is a topic you wont deal with until well into your magically learning career." He said giving Amelia a warm simile. This girl was quite an inquisitive one always ready with a new question. He couldn't blame her after all, she was a first year and if I remember right Muggle born, so all of this was a new experience for her. "Don't worry, in time you will master all these spells, remember that all the greatest Witch's and Wizards of the past where all in the same shoes as you right now." He told her trying to encourage the girl into believing in her abilities. He pointed his wand at the floor and summoned a few cushioned mats around himself and then said "Now that my safety has been assured," he paused and let out a little chuckle before continuing, "whenever your ready, hit me with your best shot."

((Good, sorry for not being clear earlier.))
Running a hand nervously through her hair, Amelia nodded. She was grateful he didn't comment on her smothered laughter. It really never was good to laugh at a teacher. She wished the book had provided a picture of what happened, since the description that likened it to a toy soldier unsettled her. Still, this was the spell that she found the easiest to pronounce. She felt confident that she could manage it at least by the second try. Watching him, she swished her wand, reciting, "Petrificus Totalus!" Though it was her confidence that caused it to work, she still was surprised, jumping slightly as she felt the spell leave her wand.

Kenneth's legs and arms snapped to his sides locking in place, he went completely rigid as Amelia's spell worked its magic throughout his body. He stood rigid as if a solider at full attention, before toppling over and landing on his back. The impact, even though he had summoned some cushion mats around him, was still jarring. He started up at the ceiling and waited from Amelia to release him from the full body bind.

The young girl watched in horror as the spell took hold. Her eyes wide, she saw him fall backwards before she moved again. Raising her wand, she desperately tried, "Finite," unsure if it was the correct spell to use. It only took her two tries for it to come out correctly, and she held her breath, hoping he was okay.
