"EXACTLY!" He cried. "You implied that if she was interested in Valentines day then she was shallow, not only that but that I had better make sure she was worth it? What the hell was that all about?" He shook his head and sighed. "And if you're not pissed off with me then what on earth is your problem?"
He laughed at her last comment a smirk appearing on his lips. "Where the hell do you get off?" He asked calmly, a nasty tinge to his tone. "I asked you for advice because you are my friend and, I'm sorry but I thought that's what friends did? Don't worry I won't come to you in the future. But then again, I don't know why I came to you in the fist place. I think it's you who needs to think about others for a change, stop wallowing in your own self pity."

"Why don't you be a man, and stop yelling at me like a child? It's just a stupid holiday, that unfortunately for me triggers memories of abuse and bullying," Scarlett said, moving to sit on her bed. "You wanted my opinion, so I gave it to you. Sorry, that I forgot to sugar-coat it for you. I thought friends told each other the truth, not what the other person wanted to hear."
Her voice continued to lose intonation with the increase in Ra's intensity. Scarlett was emotioally shutting down. Lacing her fingers together, she merely started at the floor. Tears were welling up in her eyes, but she let her hair cover her face.
"We live in the same room, but we really don't know much about each other," she said after a long pause. "For all the tea time we share together, I think we're perfect strangers."

"You're unbelieveable. Yeah, it's a stupid holiday, I agree. That's not my problem. Whatever your past experiences with it, there was still no need to be so insulting. If you didn't want to talk about it that's all you had to say. I wouldn't have pressed the matter."
He stopped, he couldn't be bothered to continue. She obviously didn't have a clue how insulting her bitter comments had been. Bitter or not you didn't imply that kind of thing about people.

Rising from her bed, she returned to her desk without another look at him. Wiping the tears from her face, she turned on her desk lamp and reopened her books. She walked across the room to her stereo. She put the headphones around her neck, and picked up the remote control. She flicked through her music catalog, and found her desired track listing.
"Okay," was the only thing she could think of to respond with. Ra's anger permitted to listen to only half what of what she said. All their progress has flown out of the window over a stupid tiny thing. She just wanted to disappear. She was exhausted physically and now she was spent emotionally. Her feeble attempt at diffusing the situation failed.

Ra shrugged as she turned back to her work and went to retrieve his lighter. She was right, there was not much they had in comon and when it all boiled down to it they were total strangers. Probably his fault more than hers. But he didn't feel the need to discuss all of his private life with her.
Shoving his lighter in his pocket he laft the room without a second word. There was nothing to say. Closing the door behind him he made his way out of the dorm building, she never did explain what had been the cause of her rhetorical comment.

Hearing Ra close the door, Scarlett waited in silence. Once sure that he wasn't returning again, she crossed her arms and leaned over her desk. An icy chill lingered in the room, making her shiver. For the first time in nearly a year, Scarlett cried herself to sleep.

= 33 =Starring: Scarlett Quixote (Kaleidoscopegrl) & Rashne Kusani (midnight_medea) Featuring: Kazaf (Ogre) Rashne Kusani (midnight_medea) The benches by the cafeteria, it seemed to Ra that he spent way too much time procrastinating at these benches rather than getting work done. It was a warm afternoon, the strong sun making it seem more like early spring rather than the middle of winter.
Smiling to himself he took his lunch out of his bag, a carton of green tea, a rice ball and an apple. He had a free afternoon in which to enjoy the weather and plenty of time to enjoy his lunch. Thinking about what to do with his free time he began to unwrap the canteen made rice ball. Scarlett Quixote (kaleidoscopegrl) Scarlett pulled her jacket tightly around her neck. It was too cold outside for her, moreso after the argument that she had with Rashne. Her back was stiff from spending the night hunched over her desk. Though her makeup was flawless, the dark circles under her eyes were a dead giveaway that she didn't sleep properly.
Making her way down the walk toward the dining hall, Scarlett saw the one person she wished she hadn't quarrelled with. Rashne was having his lunch nearby. Trying to be mature, Scarlett figured she should be polite to him.
"Hello Rashne," Scarlett said as she walked by. She didn't fake a sunny voice, and the wearyt strain from the night before was still very clear. She kept walking, albeit at a slower pace. Rashne "Hey." He said politely. It was pointless maintaining his anger. They had to share a room so it would be best to be civil. "Want to join me?" He asked moving his bag from the table to the seat next to him. He was still pissed of with her, but that was no need to be rude. Scarlett Rashne's response surprised her. After their heated battle the night before, she figured he wouldn't respond to her. She stopped mid tread, turning halfway to face him. Her eyes were vacant, but relieved. Her shoulders were slumped forward and her face quite tired.
"I'd like that," Scarlett said smiling sadly. "Mind if I grab some food first?" Rashne "Sure, go for it." He shrugged taking a bite of his onigiri. He watched silently as she made her way to the canteen. Reaching into this bag he pulled out a battered notebook and opened it. Inside the pages were covered in writing, Farsi, not English. Taking out a smaller notepad he went through the pages carefully making notes in his native language as he read. Scarlett Scarlett wandered to the cafeteria. Once inside, she selected a bottle of water, a chicken salad sandwich and a package of cookies. It wasn't her normal healthy lunch, but Scarlett was craving comfort foods. She hurried as fast as she could, but she didn't want to look too happy. She had Rashne did have a fight after all. Paying for her purchases, she exited the dining hall and made her way back to Ra.
"What are you writing? Is that your homework?" Scarlett said, trying to start a conversation back up. Setting her things down and unpacking her lunch, Scarlett began to eat her less-than-nutritious lunch. Kazaf (Ogre) Kazaf darted into the cafeteria, sneakers squeeking against the floor as he skid to a halt. He'd been too late to get one of his favorite lunches yesterday, so he was rushing today. He darted into the kitchen area, eyes lighting up as he spotted his sandwhich and piece of cake. He grabbed both and moved back out. There was a couple sitting together, and no one else around. Zaf wandered over to Ra and Scarlett. "Mind if I sit with you guys?" Rashne Ra looked up as Scarlett sat back down.
"This? No, just something I'm working on." He said closing the book of his grandmother's recipes and the notepad.
He was about to ask her how her morning went to make conversation when an unfamiliar boy asked if he could sit with them. "Sure." Ra smiled putting the notebooks into his bag. A third person would be good to ease the tension. Scarlett Scarlett looked up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. Thankfully it wasn't Chiitra. That would have been the icing on the cake after her and Ra's last argument. Another new person-- 'what a relief' she thought as a smile swept her face. Hopefully the new boy wouldn't think her and Rashne were a couple.
"Not at all," Scarlett said moving her bag, underneath the bench. "My name's Scarlett. Nice to meet you." Kazaf "Yo~" Kazaf waved, flopping down beside them. "I hate sittin' alone, ya know. My names Kazaf. Sup Scarlett!" He grinned, glancing at Ra. "What about you?" Rashne Kazaf...he'd heard that name before. It took a while for the gears to click into place. Chii's mysterious absentee roommate. "I'm Rashne, Ra...whatever you like." He grinned piercing the straw into his green tea. "You're Chii's roommate right?" Scarlett Scarlett's faint smile broke into a giggle with Kazaf's cheerful greeting. She didn't like eating lunch alone either, but it was something she was quite used to. A cool new guy, and he turns out to be Chii's roommate. A bemused smile crossed Scarlett's face at the thought of it. She felt better having Kazaf around. He was a welcomed distraction.
"What grade are you in, Kazaf?" Scarlett said drinking her water. "Are you in any clubs?" Kazaf Zaf smiled, wolfing down his sandwhich before replying. "Ah, cool. Ra's a pretty badass name, ya?" He nodded. "Yeah, she's my roomate. We haven't seen much of each other though.. I move around at odd hours, spend a lot of time at my parents place. They're out of town on business, so I got the place to myself but don't tell anyone here that, the official's get superpissed if they knew." Zaf grunted, glancing at Scarlett with a wink. "I'm in 11th grade, 17 years old. I'm in a band with a friend of mine.. m'only club is Astrology." He turned to Ra. "What about you guys?" Rashne Ra laughed, he'd never had his name described as 'badass' before. "It's just less of a mouthfull." Kazaf seemed amusing, even if his way of talking was a little hard to follow. Superpissed was such a good word. "A band eh? Cool. What kind of music do you play? I signed up for Astrology, but not till late. I'm probably close to the bottom of the waiting list. Other than that, just sport, kendo and science." Scarlett Scarlett's face flushed when Kazaf winked at her. There was something totally cool about him. He was in a band, too. Scarlett's head swam as Kazaf talked quickly. Another upperclassman who could quite possibly have classes with Ra. 'There's no reason to get worked up. It meant nothing.' she thought, trying to maintain some form of calm.
"I'm in Astrology Club, too," Scarlett said softly, biting her lip nervously. "Actually, I was just accepted this past week. I went to see the adviser the other day, but he was busy." - PAUSED - Kaleido's Notes 0. Status: Open *paused 1. This is Scarlett & Rashne's first meeting with Kazaf 2. This is also their first meeting after their first fight.

= 34 =Starring: Scarlett Quixote (Kaleidoscopegrl) Featuring: Eri Hayabusa (Ogre) and Bentley Harwood (Britain) Medium: Main Shutensa Thread ( link)Scarlett Quixote (kaleidoscopegrl) Scarlett sat in the library. Having staked a claim to a table by the windows, she spent most of the morning studying for her classes. Her grades were slowing improving, but she didn't want to jinx herself yet. She worried about being able to keep her club activities with her slowing improving grades.
"I haven't studied like this in ages," she sighed, stretching her arms above her head. "This stiffness actually feels good."
Taking her headphones off, she stowed her music player in her bag. She pulled the clip from her hair and shook her curls loose. Looking around, the library was emptier than usual. Eri Hayabusa (Ogre) Eri was sitting across the room at one of the tables in the sunlight. It was warm there, and comfortable since outside it was a little colder than usual. He had several stacks of books around him, and at least three open to pages as he took notes in one of his legal notepads. A small cup of tea sat to his right, and to his left his school bag was open with several pens spilling out for him to use should he need them. He glanced up, noticing that Scarlett was across the room.. and the rest of the place was fairly empty. She must be studying as well. Bentley Harwood (Britain) Bentley was...still somewhat in a daze. His life had been more than a little chaotic in the recent month or so; he did at least look like he'd been getting more sleep. The blond took a seat a few chairs down from Eri, dropping his backpack into a chair, before pulling out one of his own books to study. He was quiet, not so likely to start up conversation as usual, and he rubbed his eyes as if attempting to find focus somewhere in his studying. Scarlett Seeing Eri across the room, Scarlett waved mid-stretched. She was impressed by the spread of books he had around him. It made her meager assignments looks like child's play. Scarlett bit her lip nervously, wondering if Eri would be up for a study break as well. Nodding her head, she marked her page. It had been a while since they last talked, so she figured a short interruption might be welcomed.
"At least this way, I can show him I am still interested in the dance committee," Scarlett said to herself. Pushing her hair off her face, she made her way over to Eri's table.
"Hi, I hope I am not interrupting you..." Eri Eri lifted a hand, placing a finger to mark his place before looking up to meet Scarlett's eyes. He offered a smile, shaking his head. "No, not interrupting at all." He marked his place, closing the book. "You here studying as well?" His eyes flickered to the right, noticing Bentley was studying, too. Bentley Bent's eyes glanced over at Eri, one eyebrow raising in a mild greeting. He spared an ear to lsiten to the conversation, but made no move to overtly join it- if his studies slipped, even his music wouldn't keep him in the scholarships he depended on. He flipped a page idly, wondering if tattooing answers onto your skin really counted as cheating. Scarlett "Is this all for one class?" Scarlett whispered with wide eyes. "I thought what I was studying was difficult. Math and Sciences are my archnemeses."
Scarlett noticed the other boy studying nearby, she hoped that she wasn't disturbing him with her chatting to Eri. Smoothing her skirt behind her, she squat down at the egde of the table. She felt weird talking down at someone.
"It's been a while, that's all," Scarlett smiled. "I figured I should check in and see what help you need with the dance..." Eri "Oh, uhm.. have a seat..." Eri arched an eyebrow, gesturing to a seat. "I was still getting things together officially. But, I could use someone getting either a couple bands to play or a DJ.. do you think you could arrange some music for us?" He smiled, shaking his head again. "These are for the same class, but I take it twice a day. I've got a big paper due later this month." ((*waves at Oggie and Kaleido* assume Bent's staring at his page attempting to memorize it until you need him *sways in chair*)) Scarlett "I'll see about asking a couple of students I know if they're still interested in helping with the music," Scarlett said, thinking of Pyper and Rashne as she took a seat..
Scarlett reached into her pocket and took out a small notepad. Music-- something essential to the dance. Scarlett thought about the mysterious boy who played Pyper's guitar, and the boy named Kazaf whom she met over the weekend. Writing those names along with Pyper's and Rashne's, Scarlett returned her attention to Eri.
"A DJ might be ideal, but live music might be good to shake things up a little," Scarlett said, hoping she didn't sound pretentious. "Do you know any musicians or local bands that the students might want to have perform, Eri?" Eri Eri laughed, shrugging. "If I wanted to do all that research, I wouldn't have given you the job Scarlett. Don't worry.. you have plenty of time to figure all that out yourself. Ask around, the students of the school are your best source." Scarlett "Oh, right," Scarlett said, feeling her cheeks flush. "If you have anything that you'd like to hear, please tell me. I'll see whom else I can find."
Scarlett rose from her chair and bowed slightly. Her enthusiasm seemingly worked against her. Tucking her curls behind her ear, she pushed the chair in and excused herself. Returning to her study table, she set the notepad on top her school bag. Biting on her pen nervously, she attempted to return to the worlds of Newton and Pythagoras. The End?

heart It's a Mystery Act 1 Scene 1 heart dramatis personae Chiitra Weatherly [Mordavrin] Rashne Kusani [Midnight Medea] Ra looked at the clock. 17:50. Everything was almost ready. Fastening the top button on his slightly fitted, steel blue military style shirt he turned to the mirror. Fixing his side parting into place he realised with growing horror this was the first time he had ever dressed with the sole intent of impressing a girl.
Hell this was the first time he had ever done anything to impress a girl. His earlier confidence fading nerves began to set in. He hoped Chii would like what he had planned. Scarlett's cold refusal to help him out had left him guessing for himself. At least they were still on civil terms, she had agreed to vacate the room for a couple of hours with minimal fuss.
Turning back to the room he checked everything over one last time. It has taken him over an hour to tidy the relatively small space, yet he was proud of his efforts. The aroma of cooked spices hung subtley in the air and the Deftones played low on the stereo. Not exactly mood music, but it was better than silence.

She was late. LATE! Letting out a yelp as she stubbed her toe on the bathroom door, Chii ran into her bedroom, and got dressed in record time. She'd chosen a flowery top, paired with a peach jacket, her jeans, and some slip ons. Then it was off to blowdry and style her hair, apply minimal makeup and grab her purse.
Standing at her front door she made sure that she hadn't left anything on, or forgotten anything....but then the note really hadn't said to bring anything. With a deep breath she opened her door and stepped out into the hall.
Heading towards Ra's room Chii's face instantly flushed. She had no idea what to expect. She knew what day it was, but that didn't mean he was going to do anything. He probably jsut wanted to study or something. She giggled softly to herself, then quickly composed herself as she reached his door. As she knocked gently her heart skipped a beat.

Ra had just finished putting everything in place when the knock sounded at the door. He paused, forgetting momentarily what the hell he was doing and why someone was knocking at the door. After the momentary fear, his brain returned to normal and he stood up. His heart pounding in his chest he made his way down the hallway. Knowing his luck this would probably be someone who got the wrong room or Scarlett returned after changing her mind.
Taking a deep breath he opened the door. With relief he realised it was Chii, looking good, very good. "Hey." He said finally after he realised he had been staring. "Come in, take your shoes off and close your eyes."
He had to admit, that wasn't the best greeting in the world, and it did sound rather dodgy but, hey it would ruin the surprise if he told her why.

Chii was fiddlin with her jacket when Ra opened up the door. "Hey" she smiled as she walked into his room, and slipped off her shoes.
I guess he doens't want to study, she thought. Standing quietly, her hands clasped in front of her, she waited for Ra to either move her to where she should be, or tell her to open her eyes.
Her heart was nearly leaping out of her chest. She could smell so many wonderful smells as she stood. Only time would tell what Ra had up his sleeve.

"O.k." He said more to himself than her. "No looking." Placing his hands on her shoulders he guided her down the hallway and into the room, narrowly avoiding the edge of the screen as they turned into his side. He positioned her at the edge of the carpet and gave one last mental check over the dishes containing food of varying colour and size. Carefully placed in the centre of the carpet and the source of the delicious smells. "Right." He cried. "You can open them now!"

Feeling his hands on her shoulders, pushing her forward slightly she began to walk. She kept her hands clasped in front of her so as not to hit anything.
Then they stopped. She could smell so many different things, all mixing together in one fantastic feast for the senses. Eventhough he told her she could open her eyes, she kept them closed for just a few seconds longer. Food always smelled different to her once she opened her eyes, but finally she did. She gasped, her hands moving immediately up to her face. "Oh wow Ra! You did all of this?" Her eyes travelled over all the colours, and textures. It all looked so wonderful, and she was already beginning to drool.
