January 18, 2006

As the new year starts off, so does another chapter of our life on Cetalu. I can't believe it's almost been a year already! Not to mention Pueblo's birthday will be coming up...

All of the construction and remodeling are done thanks to a team of repairmen(?) Alyosha probably called for them. Their hellicopter interrupted my sleep a few nights ago! My parents sent Christmas/new year money, but I had to replace some furniture with it on my own. My family isn't exactly... destitute. But, eh, my family.

I was afraid that Pueblo's life was as thin as ice when everything went downhill. So I gave her some playdough. And she loves the stuff. I used to enjoy it a lot when I was kid too, so this is some old-school stuff. I wonder why it hasn't dried out yet. o_O The mystery of playdough's chemistry will never be descovered! Even though I was restricted to making green and purple worms, and the like, Pueblo's making sculptures of her friends out of it. They're totally reconizable.. she has a kien sense of memory.

Actually, to tell you the truth, I haven't seen anyone for a great while. It's like this whole thing spreaded some of us apart for some reason. I hope Anakiro and Foenix are doing well..

January 24th, 2006 __________ Mirror image::

The newly rennovated windows in the basement allowed better lighting in the lower quarders of the house. Pueblo sat on her guardian's bed and watched Fae brush her hair in the mirror. Pueblo was quiet as she enjoyed the grooming ritual. Her soft vanilla ears twitched with delight and her fluffy tail slithered back and forth over the wrinkles in the bed covers. The process hadn't taken that long before Fae tied the green ribbons back into loose pig-tails.

"Now, what shall we have for lunch? Fae asked and scratched Pueblo's chin.

Pueblo pulled away from teh distraction in the mirror and pondered. "Hmm... how's 'bout rabbit stew?" The carnivious Aerandir peeped.

Fae seemed thoughtful. "Osero does provide fresh meats at the Centre, so I guess I could hopp over there. Don't go out of the house, alright? I'll be back in 3 minutes." And with a final kiss to the Aerandir girl's forehead, Fae climbed the ladder up.

As Pueblo nodded eagerly and watched her guardian go, the room fell quiet again. It was a lot quieter without those little Fenthry things flying around. Looking around the room, the mirror caught her attention again. The last time she had really looked at herself was when she was a gryphon. Sliding off of the bed (that was clearly taller than her), she crawled on all fours to the mirror. She definitely couldn't walk so much as a gryphon anymore. Falling onto her butt, she begun to make motions in the mirror. She still couldn't figure out how this so called 'reflection' was inside a solid object. She pressed her soft hand against the glass and traced an imaginary outline of herself with her vanilla-white finger. Her ears bent back and forth and she looked closely into her starburst-wolve emerald eyes. Drawing her face close, she noticed a fog. Blinking, she drew a flower in it, then watched it dissapear. She stroked her white hands through her maze pig-tails. They were soft to touch and smelled homopathic. Swishing her tail a few times, she agreed with herself that she was definitely older than before. But she kind of liked how her white bangs resembled rays of light on her dark face. Struggling with a practice smile, it wasn't working for her. She sighed and climbed back onto the bed, wishing she could see her friends.

Pueblo suddenly sat up and climbed the ladder. She could hear Fae's footsteps above the ground. They were getting closer to the door!

January 29th, 2006 __________ Let's get crafty!::

"Fabuary 14th is Valentine's day... a reconized day where people give each other nice things... cards, hearts, candy, lots of bright colors... I think it's kind of fake, but it's the thought that counts I suppose..."

Pueblo carefully glided the blades of scissors through red construction paper, making sure every edge was smooth, then laid the red heart in front of her. Fondling a string of pink ribbon next, she threaded it through a needle and begun weaving a pattern into the paper. Taking her time, but never taking her eyes off her work, she easily finished stitching and started sprinkling red glitter onto it. Finally, she grabbed a thick, metalic gold paint-pen, and in her best hand writing she spelt out one of her friend's names.

The little Aerandir smiled at her finished work, pleased. If she understood correctly, then the person who recieved her gift will be happy! And happiness is something everyone should have, right? Especially after that volkanow that ate everyone's favorite things. They looked like they could smile more.

Cleaning up her work area, she placed the finished Valentines in a secret box and put it in the secret place where no one could find them before Valentine's day. That'd totally ruien the surprise if they found them!! Peaking out of her art studio, she made sure no one was looking and quickly ran back into the house, her fluffy wings jiggling behind her.

Febuary 5th, 2006 __________ Pueblo's birthday and a surprise guest::

"Happy birthday, Abby!!" Fae cried as Pueblo walked upstairs. Sitting on the dinning table was a beautifuly decorated cake with the words: Happy Birthday! written in bright green frosting. The cake itself had balloons and flowers of all colors, and a single green candle stuck out of the middle.

Pueblo blinked a few times and rubbed at her eyes. There were so many colors this morning... and they felt energetic. Was something going on that she wasn't aware of? "Birth..day?" she sounded out carefully.

Fae couldn't help but grin. "A year ago on this very day was when I recieved you. So, that means you are exactly one years old now!" she knelt and continued to explain. "When I was a little girl, my parents would celebrate my birthday by making a beaaautiful cake. They'd also give me a present," Fae winked.

Cake? Presents?! This all seemed to stir in her imagination like she would to mix paints. "Cake for brekfest?!" Her eyes went wide as she sat at the table. She stared at the frosting spelling her name- woah! How'd it do that?

Fae pulled a chair next to Pueblo and lit a match to the candle. "Now I'm going to sing you a special song. This is a tradtional song when it's somebody's birthday. Ready?"

As Fae sung the song, Pueblo listened to every word with a little rythmatic bounce. The dancing oranges and yellows of the flame made Pueblo eager. As soon as the singing was done, she was instructed to blow the candle out. "How come?" she asked, rather wishing for the pretty flame not to burn out.

"If you blow the candle out and make a wish, your wish may come true. But you can't tell anyone what you wished for, or else it really wont come true," Fae warned.

Although finding this request most odd, Pueblo deliberated. After she finally thought of something, Pueblo sucked in a big breath of air. Pausing, she closed her eyes and lashed her breath out onto the single candle. Her eyes re-opened and watched the thin line of smoke twist around into the air like a snake.

The candle now leaned to the side after Pueblo's vigorous blowing. Fae's eyebrows raised and chuckled a little. "You wern't fighting a fire!"

* * *

Soon after the cake was served and eaten, Fae directed Pueblo to her art studio.

"What's outside?" the curious Aeriand asked.

"You'll see," was all Fae said with a hintful smile.

As the two entered the room, a rather large blob of sparkly pink wrapping paper sat in the middle.

"What is it?"

"Go unwrap it and find out."

Eagerly, Pueblo ran over to the object. It was nearly as tall as her! She hugged the package, both tawny and vanilla swirled arms wrapped around. Feeling for the knot, she carefully undid the bow, then carefully begun peeling off the paper.

Soon enough the wrapping paper was in a neat pile behind her, and, sitting in front of Pueblo was a new pottery turn table. She wrinkled her face at it, not sure what to make of it. She looked over her shoulder and gave Fae a funny face.

Walking over, Fae sat on her knees and placed her hands on the turning slab. "It's a turn table for clay- my family chipped in some money and got it for you," Fae happily said. "You'll be getting older soon and I wanted you to have an excessable tool to make pottery with."

It finally clicked within her mind and she threw her arms around Fae's neck. "Ohh, tank yew Fay!!" She could finally start using clay! Backing down to inspect the turn table, she ran her soft digits over the smooth table. An excited smile shivered in her mouth and her tail brisked side to side.

Standing back up, Fae dusted her knees off and watched Pueblo soak in the pottery table. Noticing Pueblo giving her a funny look, Fae blinked and jumped into realization. "Oh! I almost forgot you other surprise. Come into the house for now- we'll set your table in a spot you'd like it better later."

As they entered the house again, Fae quickly walked to the coat rack where her satchel was. A clinking sound was heard and then a jar appeared in front of Pueblo. "Surprise; you have a little brother!"

Pueblo blinked a few times and tilted her head to the side. She peered into the glass and saw what looked like black and silver fur, and a dark blue and black feather. She touched the glass and looked closely- the blacks and dark blues would naturally have a gloomy, dark feeling, but these two objects felt...alive. She couldn't explain it, but looked up with her mouth gaped. "..."

Fae's glasses slid halfway down her nose and studied Pueblo with her bare eyes. Her smile looked michevious in that angle. "Yep, it's another Aerandir. Supposively it needed a home, and I just happened to be at the Centre at the right time. You know...you were once like this," Fae told the amazed Aerandir girl.

"Nu-uh!" Pueblo immediately disagreed, but knew Fae was being matter-of-fact. Pueblo stared into the jar again, mezmorized. "What's his name?" she asked with a curiosity.

Fae thought for a second before she spoke. "I don't know, I thought I'd let you name him. So what shall it be?"

Febuary 14th, 2006 __________ A merry Valentine's day::

Pueblo huffed to catch her breath. "I is all done!" she announced, trembling through the door. An old fondness of delivering things pulsed throughout herself. Normally she didn't like being by herself, but something about giving things to people made her feel good. "Fay?" the Aerandir blinked and looked around for her guardian.

A muffled voice came from downstairs, "I'm here, Abby!" Fae climbed up the ladder with one hand behind her back."Did you get all the Valentines delivered?" she asked and rocked on her toes.

Her vanilla ear lopsided. "Yea. Whut's dat behind yer back?" the inquisitive girl asked. She suddenly felt a vibe of dizzy joy; something sweet and frothy.

Smiling with anticipation, she barely acknowledged Pueblo's answer. The question triggered Fae's hands like a spring trap and brought forth the heart-shaped box. "Happy Valentine's, sweetie!"

Pueblo's ears jumped along with her expression. "A Valentime!!" she gasped and held it in her hands. She ran her white hand over the sleek surface shimmering in the light, simply staring.

Fae laughed. "Well? Open it!"

Oh right! Quickly de-lidding the box and moving away the tissue paper, she looked at a cluster of cookies:

"Oohh, they look yummy! She started to pick one up when Fae suddenly intercepted her.

"No! You don't eat those yet! These are special cookies. A little creature hatches from this sugary pink egg here." She carefully lifted up the almond shaped candy to show Pueblo. "You need to keep it in a safe place!" she winked.

Pueblo scowled and stared at the treats. She idly wondered what the thing was but decided to go with it anyway. "Okay!"

"Oh, and I also got Zenny something too," Fae spoke as she went around the room to fetch a stuffed animal:

As she passed the window to set the plush down, something outside caught her eye. Curious, she opened the front door:

A note...
There is a small potted plant sitting on the porch, with a note -it might be heart-shaped, but it's poorly cut- taped to the pot.

Quote:
Dear Pueblo and Fae and Zanzibar-
I grew evyone plants instead of making cards for Valuntine Day. It's grafted from some a the plants that lived after the balkano esploded. It's easy to take care of. You just keep it in the sun and water it! I hope you like it! Happy Valuntine Day!
Love Handa.

Fae gasped as she carefully picked the plant up and sat it on the coffee table inside. "Look at this, Pueblo! I think Nehanda planted this for you. Read the note- it's from her."

Pueblo, being just as excited for her brother, drooled over the lushious color of the flower. Taking the note, she carefully sounded out each word. With a little help from her guardian, she got through it realitively clearly. Speechless, she reached up to gently hold one of the delicate buds against her fingers. "It's so pretty," she finally whispered. She was too happy for words.

Fae sighed and leaned against the chair. "You'll have to thank Nehanda the next time you see her, hm? Happy Valentine's Day, Abby! Now, why dont you find a suitable place for the plush?"

"I know just where to put 'em!" The quick Aerandir suddenly sprang up with the wolf plush and ran to place it next to Zanzibar's jar.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:51 pm

A thick crunch counded as the glass containing the gryphon-to-be imploded. The sticky safety glass sat in puddles around the thick base of the jar, the bluish-white orb within dances around it - almost as if doing a vistory dance around a fallen enemy.

The gryphon's form became apparent as it began to congeal, the long thick black and white tail filling out last as it flitted side to side, expectantly.

March 17th, 2006 __________

The bleeding sun fell like the final curtain of dark purples and blues drawing the day to a close over the quiet village. The trees stretched their branches and the waves in the sea calmed; only the peacful sound of scuttling water retreating back and forth against the sand. It wasn't long for the stars to allude their surroundings as they seemingly floated to the earth. Mimicking fireflies, infact, drifted from their hiding places to join together under their cousins- the stars. Blinking muted lights danced around the outskirts of the forest until the distant candle light coming from Fae's house attracted them over.

Zanzibar sat still on the railing, staring off into the darkening horizon. His long tail laid draped over the side, just the end twitching back and forth, contemplateing. The candle lanturn above him casted a chubby shadow, but it wasn't the flickering light that caught his sudden attention. Giving a faint, questioning chitter, his pointed black beak petruded into the air to look at something. His golden eyes shifted from one blinking light to the other as fast as they'd dissapear. Cocking his head, his little heart started drumming and he soon took off. Cutting through the air like a knife, he soared straight for a firefly that was momentarily lit up. But as quickly as he'd seen it, it dissapeared again. Taken off guard, he opened his beak and gave another confused shrill- he almost sounded like a phantom ghost. Closing his beak and turning around, he went after a few others and snapped his beak at them.

He finally rounded off back to the rail and crawled over to where Fae was sitting on the steps. As if he had built in springs in his feet, he leaped down to his guardian and scuttled onto her leg. Sitting neatly atop her knee cap, he looked up to her pleadingly and repeated the same cry. "Aahhheeee?" As the quiet slur of his question left him, a little firefly quickly buzzed out of his mouth, blinking for it's dear life.

Fae lowered her sketch pad and pencil and tilted her eyes down. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly while her nose twitched to keep her glasses from falling. "Hm?" She watched him throw a look over his shoulder and back to her, his tail curling as he waited expectingly.

Smirking as she caught the insect that flew out of his mandible, she held the frenzied firefly in her palm. It opened it's wings, blinked, closed them, and repeated this process as it zig-zagged across her hand. "They're fireflies, but you don't eat them you goofball! They're living creatures just like us."

Pueblo's pencil continued to scribble down the tranquil night scene before her brother decided to join them. Lowering it momentarily, she giggled and reached over to scritch him on the head. Grinning, she mentally captured the bug escaping the scary depths of a gryphon's mouth- and her pencil furiously went back to work.

Zanzibar blinked and looked down at Fae's hand. Well, more specifically the firefly. He stared and jerked his head with every zig and zag the little insect walked in. His feathers ruffled as Pueblo scratched him and watched the beloved bug fly from the tip of Fae's finger. Thoughtfully watching the pattern of firefly lights, he chittered contently and simply took in the beauty of nature.

March 19th, 2006 __________

It had been a few days before Pueblo thought about her Valentine gifts again. Remembering suddenly that her flower from Nehanda needed water and sun light to survive, her heart leaped with fear that the beautiful plant would be dead. Quickly, she ran out the front door with extra momentum thanks to her back appendages. Reaching out, she caught herself against the table which held the potted plant. Her mouth drooped when she saw that every colorful petal had wilted or fallen off.
"FAAE!!"

A muffled scrambling noise soon exited out the door in a frenzy, breathing hard. Fae glanced at the plant only for a few seconds before she knew an explenation was needed. "Pueblo! It's alright; the plant only dropped it's flowers because it was time. You didn't kill it."

Pueblo sniffled and looked up to her guardian with hope. "I didn't?"

Fae gently smiled and knelt down to Pueblo's hight. "Noo. These type of flowers only last for a few days anyway. But, with extra water, I'm sure it'll gain enough strength to bloom again soon."

Pueblo knew how to identify certain plants, but not so much on how to take care of them. "Okay! I'll water 'em real good." Dashing back into the house to fill a water jug, she found it much too heavy to keep stable.

Fae gasped and lept to help Pueblo. "Here, let me carry it."

"I can carry it!" Pueblo demanded her independance.

Fae rose her eyebrows diliberately. That was something new...
"No, it's stoo heavy for you to carry on your own."

Finally prying it from the Aerandir's grubby hands, she sat the jug next to the pot and hoisted Pueblo into her arms.

"Now you can water it." She helped Pueblo pour the beginning then supervised the rest. "Don't over flow it," she cautioned gently.

* * *

A few minutes later Pueblo was convinced that the flower wasn't truely destroyed. Petting the leaves with giant gentle palm strokes, she promised it something. "You'll get better, don't worry."

Walking back into the house with her guardian, something collided into her without even seeing it. "Ahh! Zanzibar!" She giggled and started to run in circles, flailing her arms. "The ebil bat it trying ta git me!"

Chittering along with Pueblo's giggle fits, he raced around her body like a wild squirrel. Though it may have seemed to Pueblo that she had finally caught him, it was he who had turned the tables. Clamping down to her head until she settled, he flipped upside down and lowered his head by her ear. "Chi-chi-eee!" he cried softly and flicked his tail.

Fae walked across the area, wipping her hands on a dish towel. "Abby, why don't you give him his Valentine's gift?"

"Oh right!" Knowing she had forgotten something, she ran off downstairs, Zanzibar still attached.

Crawling around her room, she felt under the bed and pulled out the wolf plush. "Dis is for you from Valentine's day. You wern' there, but now you are, so.. here ya go." Looking up as if cueing him down, she noticed the red heart box and suddenly grabbed for it.

Zanzibar eyed the wolf creature curiously. Cocking his head, he carefully, but easily, climbed down to circle around it. Finally, he placed one front paw to it and nibbled on it tentively.

Pueblo opened the box and in an instant, something bright pink shot out at her. Yelping, she drew back and shielded herself with her hands. Scrunching her nose, she felt something soft cool nuzzling her hand. Looking down, a little candy looking creature was looking up at her with huge gleaming eyes:

~o[Acia]o~
Dear Fae,
I'm not sure how to go about this letter, I've never done something like this before! I'm not sure of all the formalities and suchlike that humans use in them so sorry if I make a mistake. I'm writing to ask if you would be comfortable with me taking Pueblo on a trip for a while. I cannot say for sure how long the trip will take but it is one all Aerandir have to go through to 'come of age'. I cannot tell you the exact location we'll be going to due to the sacred nature of the site but it is close by and safe so you needn't worry.
I have been elected (slightly by default I admit) to be Pueblo's sponsor for this ceremony - something similar to a human 'godparent' or aunt. I assure you she will come to no harm and the whole thing should be quite fun - hopefully Nehanda will be coming along too.
You needn't supply anything for the trip - its all taken care of - Pueblo should be at the Cetalu centre at around 7am tomorrow morning.

Acia

Fae went still. Very very still. The paper between her hands started to shake a little before she finally looked across the room to Pueblo.

Pueblo sat cross legged on the floor with Zanzibar in her lap. She smoothed her hand over his fur before her ears twitched and looked up. "What's up?" She blinked cluelessly at Fae who was acting strange. Without so much as an answer, she finally got up and crawled over beside her guardian. "Ohh, is that a letter?" She poked the paper and tried to take a glance at it. "Who's it from?!"

Fae looked back to the paper before finally lowering it. Calmly, she spoke, neither more fearful or excited. She had grown attached to Pueblo, ready to protect her at any cost. She nodded. "Ye-yea. It's from Acia.. She wants to meet you tomorrow morning."

"Hmm?" Pueblo cocked her head so that her pig tails flipped over her head in a silly fashion. She didn't know this adult Aerandir very well, but enough to know that Acia was nice. "Really?! What for?"

Finally giving a smile, she leaned her head against Pueblo's. "She wants to take you someplace for a few days. You and Nehanda."

Pueblo sat up and looked at Fae. Searching for a silent answer, her ears drooped slightly. Somehow she knew that Fae wouldn't be going with her, and that's what was making her sad. Leaning back in, she hugged her guardian warmly and curled her tail. "So.. can I?" she finally asked the long awaited question. The thought of her best friend coming calmed her nerves.

Fae placed the paper beside them and returned the embrace. "You don't have a choice. This is a sort of special birthday that celebrates your adolescents." She wasn't sure if this was making any sense, but trying to explain to her that it was the same as a girl throwing a sweet 16, was just about uselelss. "But you'll have Acia to protect you and Nehanda there to comfort you," she smiled again more wholesomely than before.

Grinning, her tail begun to wag and gave Fae a lick to her cheek. "Thanks, Fae! I can hardly wait."
