. . .what the shardin' hell? Was Ofelia some kinda good luck charm or somethin'?! Yet another who had come to sit by her, yet another who seemed to get the eyes of a dragon! This one was smaller, not a really violent looking one at that, and the tanner shook her head with a murmured sigh. If this kept up she didn't know what was going to happen next, though it likely wouldn't be anything good.
"...'urry up an' let's get this over wit'. Not much more now, right?"

Breathless, Malina watched as the Green Impressed to one of her fellows, and let out a huge sigh of relief. Oh thank Faranth! She would have been so sad if that little Green had gone between. She'd particularly been fond of her, and it made her weak with relief to see her safely paired off. There would be no sudden death for that little darling. Slowly, she let her muscles relax, losing the tense set to her shoulders. It would be okay. That Brown looked like he was pretty happy to be there, and that was much, much better than what she could have expected otherwise. Really, after all the trauma they had gone through as eggs (even though they weren't from the Crimson's clutch), it was a minor miracle that he was so calm. At least, Mali thought so.

The little brown let out another trill as he made his way amongst the male Candidates, his eyes still swirling so happily at all the attention he seemed to be getting. Each boy was greeted as he passed, touching them with a nose and a little croon, though it was made obvious he wasn't there just for them. He simply wanted to tell them hello and somehow or another thank them for looking at him! They were all here to see him after all, right? That was so nice of them all!
Meanwhile, from where it leaned against the sands and its companions, the Animal Tracks egg slowly began to rotate. It was not nearly as violent or loud as the brown had been, so it was likely to be overlooked - but perhaps that was what whatever was inside wanted.

Slowly, S'raid's eyes trailed back to the Hatching Sands again. Hmmn, a Brown was it? Better than a Green. Crackdust, but he was bored of this already. Still, there was something to be said for waiting and watching what they would do with the eggs that did not hatch-- Faranth knew that Galvanth would just as soon that they take the sharding things between, but of course at Trine they followed no such practice. He wanted to observe the 'ritual', as it were. Would the creatures be as disgustingly small as their firelizard counterparts? There was, of course, the question of whether they were elevated much above flits. Galvanth didn't think so, though he had responded instinctively to the Crimson. There was something in that, he decided. Even aggrandized flits could be flown to fight Thread, should the need arise for them. He had heard some wherrybrained talk about them being special somehow, and wanted to see what exactly that entailed... if anything at all.

The heat from the sands was getting a bit uncomfortable - he'd been standing on it for quite a while now and still had a fair bit to go if the number of eggs left was any indication. He of course still hoped he wouldn't be leaving the sands alone - and eyed the brown as it made it's way down the line.
The little dragonet drew the eye and Devlin nearly missed the twitching of his sibling egg.

"Oh they're all doing so well!" Tor exclaimed to Xan under the cover of the gasp the crowd made when the loud brown emerged. "I can't believe I'm seeing all of this!" His focus was thousandfold what it usually was, he knew he would remember this moment as clearly as he remembered walking the tables, and the attack that had cost him his vision and a good friend... But there was no time for the past; in the present a new egg was moving! "See, Xan, that orange one with the track marks!"
"...Hu, yea," his companion squinted for a moment, and then got the blank look riders had when they used their dragon's eyes. "I didn't notice that. Good spot, Tor."
"Thanks!" the harper almost squeaked. "I can't wait to see what it is!"

The little brown was certainly a charmer, even Saekagi couldn't help but have a smile at the friendly, bobbing brown. It seemed unlikely someone would startled this cheerful soul into vanishing between, since he was comfortable taking is sweet, friendly time greeting the various candidates.
Salin perked up also, to watch it's procession through the candidates. It's enthusiasm made him grin, but he couldn't help but wonder who on earth it would settle on, and he didn't yet notice the movement of the Tracks egg.

Akaya chuckled at the brown now moving amongst the boys, friendly and welcoming. He reminded her a bit of that green she'd come to the Weyr on--Eltimioth, wasn't it? The one who was friends with Tereth. Surely this brown would have little qualm with speaking to others, from his manner... Would he Impress someone similar in manner, or someone more shy, and help them out of their shell, so to speak? (She filed away that pun for later use)
But her attention could not be held fully by the brown, and she thought she glanced an egg moving more insistently than the others--had it been her imagination? Now that she thought of it, all the eggs that had hatched so far had been Brakiath's...were Alumanth's eggs all right? Were they perhaps all Atypicals, in need of aid to escape their thick shells?

Oh, would you look at that! Another egg was rocking, though not as violently as the last. With mounting excitement, Malina watched, her hands shaking slightly. Being excited nearly always did that to her, and this was no exception. What really was more thrilling than watching eggs hatch? ... Well, watching the Brown was pretty awesome. Mali glanced over at him, positively delighted by the way he seemed to be allowing each and every one of the boys touch his soft hide. At least, she thought it would be soft. Didn't dragonets (and dragons) have very soft hides? She was pretty sure that she had heard about that somewhere, though... now that she thought about it, she didn't know where, precisely.

Oh, and he was such a pretty fellow up close! Jalarant sighed when he was nudged by the dragon, smiling at the little fellow. Oh, now you were a perfect little one! Would you find yours down here on the sands, or would you too head off towards the stands?
So focused on the brown, he didn't notice any other eggs rocking nor hatching. You could command attention, little one!

It was all well and good that this little brown was enjoying those around him, but perhaps it was about time for him to find his? There was a rumble from the shaking egg from before and out onto the sands stepped a dark blue, his eyes whirling bright red for the few seconds that he first hit the air. He didn't bugle or announce himself in triumph for simply hatching, instead he swayed his head side to side for a moment before issuing a creel that sounded almost a bit...commanding and impatient.
His steps were sure as he started away from his shell and over towards the brown, not the boys, his idea of what he wanted to happen very clear. Play time was over, it was time to keep moving! This joyous brown was holding up the line, or so the blue seemed to be saying!

Well...that might not be good was his first thought as Devlin noted the newly hatched blue and his rather menacing red eyes. He was going straight for his brown sibling and Devlin wondered briefly if there would be a fight between the two. Did that happen in hatchings? He had no idea really but the blue certainly didn't seem pleased with his sibling - maybe he just wanted the other to move?

A blue bossing a brown? That got Primath and B'tars attention fast enough. Trine was becoming more fascinating by the moment, shame that they were in such bad odor with everyone here. He grinned wickedly, wondering how the perky brown would take to this attitude from his smaller sibling, and picturing the reactions of his own fellow riders. This one I like Primath noted, approvingly. I approve.
--- Salin blinked in surprise at the creel of command, turning his attention away from the cheerful but undecided brown to glance toward the startling, determined dark blue, who apparently had a larger attitude than body size. That one was bound to be a handful, whoever he went to.

Would the dragonets kindly get on with it? S'raid's patience was nearing a middle, which meant that now not only was his hand tapping absently, his foot was doing the same. It was all well and good for there to be two perfectly suitable (if somewhat inferior, by his lights) colors out on the Sands, but they were dithering about as though this was not the most important moment of their lives. He glared down at him, and shook his head. Galvanth had known immediately that he was his rider, after all. ... And perhaps some of S'raid impatience stemmed from his own experience waiting and waiting, and waiting to Impress. Each Hatching had drawn out like some kind of water torture, and he hadn't enjoyed them nearly as much as most Candidates seemed to. But then again, he had merely been interested in finding and achieving his proper place.

It looked as if the boys were finally to have a blue in their midst, though he did not seem pleased at all to have to wait on his (better-natured, Akaya thought privately) brown clutchmate's choice. Though was he waiting for the boys, or simply trying to hurry along the brown? It was difficult to tell. The blue would be a fussy one, no doubt... She tried to remember it from the Touching--hadn't this been the one she thought would be driven to go places? Ambition or not, he certainly seemed to know what he wanted.
