Charonite looked at the hole. It was completely black -- it was deep and the air coming up from it was cold. There had been no response to banging on the trapdoor. They had their warm, if smelling-like-damp cloaks around them; they were free; he had a sort of wild-about-the-eyes expression that to Nemesis meant yes.
"Are you afraid of the dark?" he said.

"No," she replied with a small pout of the lips. She wasn't scared of the dark, rather she was uncomfortable with the idea that she might not be able to see where she was going well. "Shouldn't we grab one of the torches back in the dungeon?" Yes, that sounded like a nice alternative to the problem. If they were going to go down, and by the look on Charonite's face they were definitely going down, she wanted to be able to see where she was going. "I'm not scared. I just don't want to twist my ankle."

They got one of the torches from the dungeon.
It was strange: about an hour ago she had no idea that she was going to be teaming up with the General-King of the Negaverse to solve puzzles and... go down holes. Go where no man had gone before. Well. One man, maybe. Now he was sitting next to the hole and giving her the nod that now she knew meant, I have everything under control or want you to believe that, and said "I'll go first."
And he crawled away into the dark.

She believed him, and didn't know why, but he seemed confident enough for the both of them. Charonite had done nothing but help her, had been key to their escape from the dungeon. It was enough to ease her worry over where they were going next, of what would happen when Charonite saw Damon and gained knowledge of who was important to Sailor Nemesis. Some part of Nemesis suspected that he wouldn't play that sort of game with her.
Sucking in a short, calming breath, she handed the torch off to Charonite, and trustingly followed him into the just-illuminated tunnel.
