"Hm? The Hatter? I'm afraid he hasn't made it to this little world. Perhaps later if someone really wants to play him." C.C. replied, turning his attention back to Crystal for a moment. "And be it a little much or not, no one will have much of a choice if Cupid there gives them a love tap with one of his little arrows. Not for you, and not for whoever else he sticks." he continued, then grinned a bit as he turned back towards the other rooftops. "Or he could simply make them obsessed over you. Deadly obsessed." Then he paused a moment and thought. "Or...he could...nah. Too complicated." he mumbled to himself.

Crystal just shook her head, now confused. 'What did he mean by someone play Hatter? He's speaking like this was a game of D&D or something of the sort. But this would be absurd, as this is the real world... Unless...'
The theme for the Twilight Zone started to reverberate in her head. 'No... That's impossible... That's just a show... But then again, there are some people who believe that our shows are just us tapping into other dimensions that actually do exist somewhere beyond our universe....'
She shook her head vigorously to get the thoughts out of her head. "I think I might wonder off now" She skulks off slowly and then hops to the next rooftop, slowly making her way away from these 'people'.

C.C. glanced back as Crystal took off, and just as quickly turned his attention back towards the rooftop John was on. "Alright, so, what should I do now? Simply sit and watch for a while? Go down and mess with John for a bit, playing up the whole dream sequence thing? Ah, what to do, what to do..."

John was, at that point, actually trying very hard not to laugh. He was leaning back against one of those red brick chimneys, the back of his head pressed against the cool stone and his legs splayed haphazardly out in front of him. He didn't know what to do. The whole thing was sort of insane. There was no sign that anyone had been hurt when half of a building had been sawed off; in fact, there was no sign that half of a building had been sawed off at all. It was like it had just... vanished. So, basically, either he was dreaming, or he was dealing with an entity so powerful that it could just take the world apart and then sew it back up like some demented patchwork quilt.
Either way, it was insane. Ridiculous. What the hell was he supposed to do? This was, as far as he was concerned, the last straw. He quit. Enough was enough. He was going to sit here and wait to wake up, and the whole superhero thing could go straight to hell.
A woman screamed.
...
With a groan, he pulled himself to his feet and walked over to the edge of the building. Below him, a girl in her mid to late twenties was trying to get away from a group of men, who met her desperation with nothing short of amusement. "End of the world, baby," one of them told her, grinning wolfishly, "You know what that means..." The men around him all chuckled darkly.
John stared down at them. ... Really? ... Alright, so he'd just handle these idiots, and THEN he'd sit down and wait to wake up. That decided, he jumped gracefully off of the building and landed in a crouch in between the woman and her attackers, his extra spider-y arms extending from his back as he stood. "I have to say," he told them conversationally, "Dream or no dream, this has the potential to be REALLY therapeutic." They just stared at him--or, more specifically, at his extra legs-- with dawning horror.
"Get the freak!" one of them shouted, finally.
John grinned.

Reaper continued across the rooftops, trying to shake his unwanted company. Vice, kept right on his tail. Once again, Reaper couldn't take any more of the man, and spun around towards him. And, once again, Vice was seemingly gone as soon as he turned to face him. Reaper growled, and engulfed himself in black flames. Once they died, he was gone.
There was a small 'tsk' sound, and Vice became tangeable inches from where Reaper had been. "Guess I'd bugged him a little too much..." he sighed. Pity, he wanted to play some more. Perhaps he could try to find that shapely alley cat that had crossed his path earlier. He wanted to do something.
A scream caught his ear from an alley not far from where he was, and he casually turned to look. He stood there a moment, staring, then shrugged his shoulders and made his way towards the alley the scream had come from. Well...it was something to do...
=====================================
C.C. grinned a bit as he watched. Now, did he simply let the hero take care of these thugs like a normal day? Or...did he see what he could do about wiping that grin off his face? Hmmmm...... Suppose this would be an excellent time to bring in some other characters. But who could he pull out of his bag? Blackstone? Edel? Valerie? Perhaps someone else entirely? Ooh! We could see about bringing in the Not-So-Good Doctor. She how he'd take to seeing yet another spider.

Nearly three hours later, Roxanne and Warp were once again walking down the streets of Gotham. Roxanne looked tired, and just a bit annoyed. While Warp wore a grin on his face. He glanced down at Roxanne a moment, noted her annoyed look, and his smile broadened. "Now, was that so bad?"
Roxy glanced up at him briefly, then back down at the street in front of her. "It was...better than I thought it would be." she replied simply.
Warp grinned even more. "And..."
Roxy hesitated. "And...you were right. It didn't hurt as much as I though it would. I guess it's something I could get used to. My hair is long enough to hide it should I not want to show it."
"It's a nice design. It would look good even if you did pin your hair up."
"Sure, spiders are so dressy..." she said with a small grin. "And what about your arms? I take it I'm not going to see you in any more sweatshirts, correct?" She asked, looking up at him finally.
"Heck no. If I'm right, the glow from my powers should illuminate the color ink I have." he said with a smile.
Roxy smiled a bit herself. "You are such a child..." she mumbled, moving one hand to gently rub the back of her neck.

Less than two minutes later, all four of the attackers were either unconscious or semi-conscious, and their wrists and ankles were secured with zip-ties. One of the men groaned, and John patted him sympathetically on the head.
The man growled, "Who the hell ARE you?"
"Go back to sleep," John told him coolly, grabbing both him and one of his friends by the backs of their collars and dragging them behind him as he walked out of the alley. As they went, the spider legs on his back retracted, so that by the time they got out onto the street proper, they were completely hidden. "Now to get your friends. Sit tight," he added over his shoulder as he went back in for the other two. Behind him, the talkative thug called him something that couldn't be said on public television.

Unfortunately, the remaining thugs that John had left behind had unexplainably just...vanished. There was a bit of black smoke that was dissipating where they had been, but that was about it.
Above the alley, resting comfortably on the rooftop, sat a grinning black cat. "I couldn't decide, so I'll just mess and see where this goes." he purred

John just stared, then glanced back at the two men on the street, then back at the dissipating smoke. Oh, great. This was why he liked working with a team. This was exactly why. Fighting down panic, he edged back out onto the street and checked on the two men. They glared at him. "Um..." He glanced back down the alley. "I guess I'm babysitting until the cops show up," he said warily. They both grumbled various rude things under his breath, but John ignored them in favor of keeping an eye on various convenient ambush points.

After a moment or two, a slim black cat crawled out from a nearby parked car. It stood there and stared for a moment, sniffing at the air. It regarded the two men a moment, but apparently decided that the man in the red costume was friendlier than the two crooks and trotted up to him. He purred as he gently rubbed himself against John's boots and weaved between his leggs.
All the while, trying his best to conseal a grin that threatened to swallow the better part of his face.

John almost jumped out of his skin at the light touch, and then relaxed when he saw what it was. "Hi," breathed, pinching the bridge of his nose through his mask and closing his eyes briefly. Freaking cats. Looking a little bit more closely at it, he frowned faintly. It almost looked like it was... smiling. "You're a little bit creepy looking, you know that?"
"D'you mind?" one of the criminals growled.
John looked at him flatly, and allowed his spider legs to extend just a little bit. The man flinched noticeably, and went back to studying the pavement. "That's what I thought," John snapped. Although, this probably just went to prove that he wasn't in a position to talk about looking creepy.

The cat's grin spread for a split second, but quickly forced it back. He moved a foot or two away from John, as if he had simply noticed a bug on the side-walk. In actuality, he didn't want to be stepped on if John jumped.
The next moment, the two thugs were engulfed in a large cloud of black smoke. The two cursed in surprise, and were soon lifted out of the smoke, tied to one large fish balloon. The balloon carried the two into the air at a rather surprising speed...as if the balloon had no weight on it at all.
--------
Vice finally reached the alley where the woman had screamed, and stood on the rooftop a moment. Now there were men carrying-on about something. He sighed, looked down over the side of the building.....and blinked. Slowly, his body curled from hunched-over, to it's straight position as he watched two men float up, up, and up.
He stood there, staring up at the two with an odd expression on his face.
"............huh."
He blinked, then shook his head and looked back down over the side of the building.

John stared up at the two men with wide, stunned eyes. Then, after a second, he seemed to come to some internal decision, and shrugged. No more being surprised. Complete waste of everybody's time. The next moment, the ends of his spider-legs started to glow with some sort of red energy that shot out toward the balloon. If it didn't pop, then he'd let the energy solidify into webbing and try pulling the stupid thing back down.

It poped.
The two screamed, then proceeded with freefall.
Vice blinked and had just enough time to raise his head and watch the two begin falling back towards the ground in front of him.
C.C. now grinned ear to ear. Oh, this was going to be fun. There was another poof of smoke, and an anvil fell from the sky above the two.

John jumped up some 30 feet, simultaneously sending two lines of red webbing out toward the plummeting thugs. When the webbing connected, he yanked them toward him and grabbed. He landed on the roof in a graceful crouch a moment later, one man under each arm... and directly in front of Vice. Straightening, he blinked at the other man; he looked really, really fami-- Oh no. His eyes widened under the mask, and he backed up. Very quickly.

The anvil landed harmelessly into the ground below the group. C.C. stared at it a moment, then grinned as he looked back up at the others. Oh, well...he'd bring in the other people later. Two of which...John was certain to loath meeting.
Vice stared back at the hero, then couldn't help but smile as the man suddenly paniced at the site of him. Ah, he loved that reaction....mainly because he never got that reaction very often.
"Tsk...what? I'm just standing here. Here..." he said with a grin as he suddenly vanished. "Is this better?" he asked, sounding...a bit closer to John.
