Chris followed behind Remus with a slight smile. This was something she was good at. She had studied animal tracks and ways to tell were they had gone for a good time of her life as a teen. She looked around interested in the forest. She was ready to help if Remus lost track.
( Won't be able to post for a good amount of time tomorrow. Going to the zoo and other fun things. *Yaaaaay* )

The forest around them started feeling different, like the inhabitants were even more dangerous and even more uncivilized - if there were even any sapient creatures left. Evros kept a straight face, hiding the fear of his surroundings that he shared with the less stoic human girl and elf man that walked beside him.
The tracks led straight forward and into a cave. Unless it was their imagination, something inside was snarling.Someone told me theres a girl out there

((S'all good. I got things to do as well and I probably won't be on till late tomorrow.))
Remus halted the party outside the cave, putting his hand up in a military fashion. He stepped forward towards the mouth of the cave, unslinging Perseverance. He moved forward, expecting a thresher maw or a rancor to come charging out at him.
"Nerd. It's probably just a scrawny, mangy wolf." he thought to himself.

Chris got in a defensive stance and then remembered her promise to James. With a sigh she let her arms down and got ready to run.
If it came to it, She would protect James.
She walked over and placed the hammer in his hands.
"You use it. Sense I can't do anything with it."
The hammer weighed as much as it looked like it weighed.

((I'm gonna find a way to make this work without Remus, but I may have to think about it. For now, skip his turns.))
James nearly fell to the ground when handed the hammer, but tried to carry it. He'd much rather use this than his other line of defense.
Kaok's human half was hesitant to enter, but as they each went in one-by-one, she followed.
The cave changed from light to dark in almost an instant, and it was impossible to see anything now, but the noises could still be heard. And the hoofprints had disappeared, replaced with the signs of a creature being dragged away.Someone told me theres a girl out there

Emma stiffened as she saw the change in tracks, feeling a hand on her shoulder as both nobles pooled their power into the tracking spell.
A spark of magelight arose, illuminating the cave for yards around them.

The signs of a Faun being dragged extended for quite a while, spots of fresh blood on the ground every so often. The human part of Kaok tried not to look, the soldier within her might be used to it, but she wasn't. Cairndeer himself, was holding on tight to the small first-aid kit that he'd brought. It certainly wasn't going to do the job.
It wasn't long before a blood-covered wolf-like creature could be seen in front of them. It was bigger than it seemed it should be, and in the process of picking meat off of the Faun that had been dragged there - a woman with a red stripe, like the young Kaok had described, but with black fur and hair. Not brown.

Emma cursed. The wrong one.
She turned away from the creature, casting out her awareness to the winds, calling on the forces inherent in every rock and tree, bending them to her will and sending out an iron-clad command.
Find her.

Chris tensed up at the bloody wolf creature,
Her heart beat faster.
There was no doubt this creature would tear them apart.
She felt extremely defenseless without her hammer,
"If it comes down to it I'm dragging James out of this cave before it can lay a paw on him."
She got ready to run..

Every rock and tree would answer that she had never even been here. They'd chosen wrong.
But now the wolf was turning on them, distracted from its old meal from the prospect of seven new ones.

Emma gritted her teeth as both nobles conjured their respective weapons; Emma's a short sword, not as elegant as Hrothbert's slender rapier but far more adept at severing limbs.
"We have to get out. She's not here."

The sorcerer sidestepped neatly as the wolf lunged next at him, scoring its side with the rapier as it went by.
Neither he nor Emma were using magic, and for good reason. They were saving their strength; they would need every ounce of power they could get later.
