Leila shivered once more as a cold wind blew. This sucked. Reiba had run off with a morbid picture in his room, and now she had to wait outside for him and Shanya to return. How did she, an assassin, get stuck doing grunt work? She sighed. Well, it was part of the requirement for being the King's lover, wasn't it? Wait on his hand and foot and don't ask questions, even though Reiba didn't ask for much but questions and stupid grunt work like this.

A small laugh escaped Leila's throat. The King's Lover? Had she actually thought that? Oh my, Miyabi would have gotten a kick out of that. But it was true, she had been in love with the king for so long now, ever since they became of age for love. (Age.... 12, I guess?) But she could never ask the king how he felt until he came out one day and asked her to be his private servant, the only person that he'd trust with everything. She had readily agreed, but now she feared that she would lose her job to Shanya. Where was the boy anyway?

Shanya soona arrived at the castle and saw Leila at the entrance. Hurriedly, he approached, eager to be away from the fields. He didn't feel safe even though the king's territory was supposed to be protected. For all he knew, someone just wanted him to think that so he could fall into a trap. Of course, that would just be his paranoid side speaking. Who wouldn't be paranoid after a sudden attack in a cave? At least the king rescued him before any serious damage happened.

Finally, Shanya reached the castle entrance and stood there waiting for whatever Miss Leila may tell him. She seemed a bit troubled, but that could just be some kind of feeling he had or the atmosphere around her. It wasn't that he didn't like her or anything, he just... was a little uncomfortable. It was his first day at the castle, so it's probably normal that he would be uncomfortable being near someone he didn't know. It could also be the "memory loss" that could have made him think that he had never met Leila before. Whichever way, he was still unnerved.

"Where's Reiba?" Leila asked, dropping her fake accent once and for all. She was going to be serious with Shanya and only show her true nature toward him once she got to know him better. "Don't tell me you left him there to die."

Reiba burst through the hole in the rock, sprinting out of the cave. He could feel the hands reaching out towards him from the hole, but he kept on sprinting, just a few inches away from the fingers. Finally, he burst into the cold, moonless night, and the arms disappeared.

Shanya trembled when he heard a somewhat unfamiliar voice from Leila. There was an urge in him that told him to run away, but he stayed where he was. It wouldn't help him at all and would only make things worse if he ran off. Leila would then get suspicious and it probably won't be long before she demands answers that Shanya knew he wouldn't know.

He wanted to explain to her that the king had told him to run, and all this time he thought he had followed. It wasn't like he left the older back in the cave on purpose. Shanya could only hope that the king had managed to escape the cave before whatever was in there did something terrible to him.

"Don't scare him, Leila. It isn't polite." Reiba huffed, somewhat dragging himself closer towards the small party outside of the castle doors. The young king had actually ran the entire distance from the cave in fear of the hands coming back to grab him. He knew all-too-well what was going to happen.

"But sir..." Leila muttered, but she was cut off by a swift hand motion from Reiba. She instantly closed her mouth, trying to regain her southern accent again, even though she already screwed up her chance to make Shanya believe that she was a happy go lucky girl.

Shanya was really relieved to see the king appear and immediately he bowed in respect. He was worried that maybe he really did leave him to deal with the hands, but apparently he escaped. That was what relieved him, since he wasn't sure if His Majesty really could win against them.

"I'm really glad you made it back," Shanya said. At first he wanted to ask a question about Leila, since apparently her accent and her excited personality from before had only a part of a disguise, but he decided against it. The king would tell him when he wants to, which is most likely not now.

Reiba nodded at Leila, who nodded back in an almost gangster-like way. "Thank you, Leila. Your duty is done." The young king smiled, walking over and lightly kissing her on the cheek. Leila blushed a mad pink, but she only nodded again and disappeared into the castle.

"As for you." Reiba said flatly, turning around to look at the younger boy. "I'm sorry if I made you feel... uncomfortable." The brown haired boy confessed, closing his eyes and putting his hands up in a 'I give-in' manner.

Shanya felt mildly jealous when he saw the king kiss Leila. Sure it was only on the cheek, but there still came that unfamiliar pang in his heart. He really didn't understand why it was there in the first place, but he was sure it wasn't because of some feeling like love. That would be completely absurd. A slave and a king? Impossible.

While the king apologized, Shanya grew confused, but then he figured out what His Majesty was apologizing for. "Um... You don't need to be sorry, Your Highness," he replied, looking away from him.

Reiba smirked, walking over to the younger boy who was looking away from him. "Jealous? Want a kiss, too?" Reiba asked, breathing lightly into the younger boy's ear. He tangled his fingers into Shanya's hair, and pulled the younger boy closer to him as if he were really going to kiss the younger boy.

But he didn't. The young king's lips grazed Shanya's forehead, but then he pulled away, detached his fingers from the younger boy's hair, and looked blankly at Shanya.

"Don't ever go back into that cave. I refuse to lose you again." He whispered quietly, since he had a feeling that somebody was watching very close by. "You may not remember... but that's where you left me."

Shanya couldn't help but blush when the king whispered in his ear and more so when he gave him a kiss on the forehead. It wasn't like it was a lover's kiss, but it still made his heart flutter. That only made him worry a little. It couldn't be that he was developing feelings for the older. It was forbidden, and unbearably so.

It was then that the king told Shanya to never return to the cave. Despite what had happened recently, he didn't want to stay away. There were so many questions about it that he was sure would only be answered if he went back. It's not like the cave was haunted, right?

Leila scowled from the top balcony. The boy didn't even remember him, yet Reiba still loved him as if Shanya were still his. The blonde assassin curled her hands into fist. She should have just killed him when Reiba's father had ordered the assassination, but Reiba himself had begged her not to. This is what she got for listening.

Reiba grabbed Shanya and pulled him into the castle. "You can sleep in my room. It's safer than most of the other rooms, since Leila stands outside to guard it." He said quietly, as to not disturb the silent night.

At hearing Leila's name, Shanya immediately shivered. It was strange that now he was uncomfortable around her, but maybe it's because of the personality that he wasn't used to. That could perhaps be it. Who wouldn't feel uncomfortable with someone who was far different than they had been led to believe?

It wasn't in Shanya's right limit that he should say that this castle was weird. Perhaps he himself was weird, since he was only a beggar-turned-slave. It was quite ironic that his life had actually gotten better. Generally, his life was the strange thing.

Reiba turned just in time to see a look of discomfort cross Shanya's already timid looking body. What was it, Leila? What did the blonde assassin do now? If she had blown her cover, then he would have to watch Shanya every single second of every single day to make sure nobody threatened him for information. This could be a huge problem....

"Um... Is there something wrong with Leila watching? I could get somebody else... like Raziel, maybe?" Reiba asked, stopping his walking pace in front of a window.

"Huh? Actually, I'm okay with Leila watching over us," Shanya replied, though because he was a terrible liar his nervousness joined with his voice. "I have no problem at all with her."

On the contrary, Shanya was very terrified of Leila. Apparently she was a guard or someone of the sort rather than a high-authority slave. Apparently, she had a crush on the king, or so Shanya thought when he saw her blush. Since she was the opposite of the happy person Shanya had thought of her as before, he was scared of what she would do if he stayed in the king's room.

The boy's voice gave away his lie, even somebody like Kitsuma could have picked up on that. So Reiba pulled Shanya closer to him, as if he were going to kiss him again, but just brought Shanya's face up to match his eye level.

"Don't lie to me. What did Leila do?" He asked. Raziel was down the hall, watching their movements, but a quick snap from the king got the captain to disappear into one of the many rooms lining the main hall. "Shanya... Leila isn't who you think she is. She is a trained killer, a master assassin if you will." Reiba whispered. "Do you have a problem with her guarding the room?"
